1. യഹോവയിങ്കല് നിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തെന്നാല്

1. This is the contents of the letter which the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the remaining elders among the exiles, to the priests, the prophets, and all the people who were exiled by Nebuchadnezzar from Jerusalem to Babylon.

2. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന സകലവചനങ്ങളെയും ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിവെക്കുക.

2. This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the courtiers, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the artisans and the skilled workmen had left Jerusalem.

3. ഞാന് യിസ്രായേലും യെഹൂദയുമായ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രവാസം മാറ്റുവാനുള്ള കാലം വരും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുഞാന് അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കൊടുത്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു അവരെ മടക്കി വരുത്തും; അവര് അതിനെ കൈവശമാക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

3. Delivered in Babylon by Elasah, son of Shaphan, and by Gemariah, son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah, king of Judah, sent to the king of Babylon, the letter read:

4. യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിനെയും യെഹൂദയെയും കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനങ്ങളാവിതു

4. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon:

5. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനാം നടുക്കത്തിന്റെ മുഴക്കം കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; സമാധാനമല്ല, ഭയമത്രെ ഉള്ളതു.

5. Build houses to dwell in; plant gardens, and eat their fruits.

6. പുരുഷന് പ്രസവിക്കുമാറുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചുനോക്കുവിന് ! ഏതു പുരുഷനും നോവുകിട്ടിയ സ്ത്രീയെപ്പോലെ കൈ നടുവിന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതും ഏതു മുഖവും വിളറിയിരിക്കുന്നതും ഞാന് കാണുന്നതു എന്തു?

6. Take wives and beget sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters. There you must increase in number, not decrease.

7. ആ നാള്പോലെ വേറെ ഇല്ലാതവണ്ണം അതു വലുതായിരിക്കുന്നു കഷ്ടം! അതു യാക്കോബിന്നു കഷ്ടകാലം തന്നേ; എങ്കിലും അവന് അതില്നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടും.

7. Promote the welfare of the city to which I have exiled you; pray for it to the LORD, for upon its welfare depends your own.

8. അന്നു ഞാന് അവന്റെ നുകം നിന്റെ കഴുത്തില്നിന്നു ഒടിച്ചു ബന്ധനങ്ങളെ അറുത്തുകളയും; അന്യന്മാര് ഇനി അവനെക്കൊണ്ടു സേവ ചെയ്യിക്കയുമില്ല എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

8. thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let yourselves be deceived by the prophets and diviners who are among you; do not listen to those among you who dream dreams.

9. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെയും ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും എഴുന്നേല്പിപ്പാനുള്ള രാജാവായ ദാവീദിനെയും സേവിക്കും.

9. For they prophesy lies to you in my name; I did not send them, says the LORD.

10. ആകയാല് എന്റെ ദാസനായ യാക്കോബേ, നീ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; യിസ്രായേലേ, നീ ഭ്രമിക്കേണ്ടാ എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; ഞാന് നിന്നെ ദൂരത്തുനിന്നും നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ പ്രവാസദേശത്തുനിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കും; യാക്കോബ് മടങ്ങിവന്നു സ്വസ്ഥതമായും സ്വൈരമായും ഇരിക്കും; ആരും അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുകയില്ല.

10. Thus says the LORD: Only after seventy years have elapsed for Babylon will I visit you and fulfill for you my promise to bring you back to this place.

11. നിന്നെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; നിന്നെ ഞാന് ചിതറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞ സകലജാതികളെയും ഞാന് മുടിച്ചുകളയും; എങ്കിലും, നിന്നെ ഞാന് മുടിച്ചു കളകയില്ല; ഞാന് നിന്നെ ന്യായത്തോടെ ശിക്ഷിക്കും; ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടുകയില്ലതാനും.

11. For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope.

12. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിന്റെ പരുകൂ മാറാത്തതും നിന്റെ മുറിവു വിഷമമുള്ളതുമാകുന്നു.

12. When you call me, when you go to pray to me, I will listen to you.

13. നിന്റെ വ്യവഹാരം നടത്തുവാന് ആരുമില്ല; നിന്റെ മുറിവിന്നു ഇടുവാന് മരുന്നും കുഴമ്പും ഇല്ല.

13. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart,

14. നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും നിന്നെ മറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ അകൃത്യത്തിന്റെ ആധിക്യംനിമിത്തവും നിന്റെ പാപത്തിന്റെ പെരുപ്പംനിമിത്തവും ഞാന് നിന്നെ ശത്രു അടിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയും ക്രൂരന് ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയും അടിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവര് നിന്നെ നോക്കുന്നില്ല.

14. you will find me with you, says the LORD, and I will change your lot; I will gather you together from all the nations and all the places to which I have banished you, says the LORD, and bring you back to the place from which I have exiled you.

15. നിന്റെ പരുക്കിനെയും മാറാത്ത വേദനയെയും കുറിച്ചു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? നിന്റെ അകൃത്യത്തിന്റെ ആധിക്യംനിമിത്തവും നിന്റെ പാപത്തിന്റെ പെരുപ്പം നിമിത്തവും അല്ലോ ഞാന് ഇതു നിന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു.

15. As for your saying, 'The LORD has raised up for us prophets here in Babylon'--

16. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെ തിന്നുകളയുന്നവരെല്ലാവരും തിന്നുകളയപ്പെടും; നിന്റെ സകല വൈരികളും ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകും; നിന്നെ കൊള്ളയിടുന്നവര് കൊള്ളയായ്തീരും നിന്നെ കവര്ച്ച ചെയ്യുന്നവരെയൊക്കെയും ഞാന് കവര്ച്ചെക്കു ഏല്പിക്കും.

16. Thus says the LORD concerning the king who sits on David's throne, and all the people who remain in this city, your brethren who did not go with you into exile;

17. അവര് നിന്നെ ഭ്രഷ്ടയെന്നും ആരും തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കാത്ത സീയോനെന്നും വിളിക്കകൊണ്ടു, ഞാന് നിന്റെ മുറിവുകളെ പൊറുപ്പിച്ചു നിനക്കു ആരോഗ്യം വരുത്തും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

17. thus says the LORD of hosts: I am sending against them sword, famine and pestilence. I will make them like rotten figs, too bad to be eaten.

18. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് യാക്കോബിന് കൂടാരങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവാസം മാറ്റി അവന്റെ നിവാസങ്ങളോടു കരുണ കാണിക്കും; നഗരം അതിന്റെ കല്ക്കുന്നിന്മേല് പണിയപ്പെടും; അരമനയും യഥാസ്ഥാനപ്പെടും.

18. I will pursue them with sword, famine, and pestilence, and make them an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, of malediction, astonishment, ridicule, and reproach to all the nations among which I will banish them.

19. അവയില്നിന്നു സ്തോത്രവും സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നവരുടെ ഘോഷവും പുറപ്പെടും; ഞാന് അവരെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കും; അവര് കുറഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല; ഞാന് അവരെ മഹത്വീകരിക്കും; അവര് എളിമപ്പെടുകയുമില്ല.

19. For they did not listen to my words, says the LORD, though I kept sending them my servants the prophets, only to have them go unheeded, says the LORD.

20. അവരുടെ മക്കളും പണ്ടത്തെപ്പോലെയാകും; അവരുടെ സഭ എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിലനിലക്കും; അവരെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരെയും ഞാന് സന്ദര്ശിക്കും.

20. You, now, listen to the word of the LORD, all you exiles whom I sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.

21. അവരുടെ പ്രഭു അവരില്നിന്നു തന്നെ ഉണ്ടാകും; അവരുടെ അധിപതി അവരുടെ നടുവില്നിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിക്കും; ഞാന് അവനെ അടുപ്പിക്കും; അവന് എന്നോടു അടുക്കും; അല്ലാതെ എന്നോടു അടുപ്പാന് ധൈര്യപ്പെടുന്നവന് ആര്? എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

21. This is what the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, has to say about those who prophesy lies to you in my name, Ahab, son of Kolaiah, and Zedekiah, son of Maaseiah: I am handing them over to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, who will slay them before your eyes.

22. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് എനിക്കു ജനമായും ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ദൈവമായും ഇരിക്കും.

22. All the exiles of Judah in Babylon will pattern a curse after them: 'May the LORD make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the flames.'

23. യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധം എന്ന ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റു, കടുപ്പമായി അടിക്കുന്ന ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റു തന്നേ, പുറപ്പെടുന്നു; അതു ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ തലമേല് ചുഴന്നടിക്കും.

23. For they are criminals in Israel, committing adultery with their neighbors' wives, and alleging in my name things I did not command. I know, I am witness, says the LORD.

24. യഹോവയുടെ ഉഗ്രകോപം അവന്റെ മനസ്സിലെ നിര്ണ്ണയങ്ങളെ നടത്തി നിവര്ത്തിക്കുവോളം മടങ്ങുകയില്ല; ഭാവികാലത്തു നിങ്ങള് അതു ഗ്രഹിക്കും.
