1. അനന്തരം അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവു ആഗാഗ്യനായ ഹമ്മെദാഥയുടെ മകന് ഹാമാന്നു കയറ്റവും ഉന്നതപദവിയും കൊടുത്തു അവന്റെ ഇരിപ്പിടം തന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുന്ന സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെയും ഇരിപ്പിടങ്ങള്ക്കു മേലായി വെച്ചു.

1. After these things did king Achashverosh promote Haman the son of Hammedata the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.

2. രാജാവിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കലെ രാജഭൃത്യന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും ഹാമാനെ കുമ്പിട്ടു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; രാജാവു അവനെ സംബന്ധിച്ചു അങ്ങനെ കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എങ്കിലും മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി അവനെ കുമ്പിട്ടില്ല, നമസ്ക്കുരിച്ചതുമില്ല.

2. All the king's servants, who were in the king's gate, bowed down, and did reverence to Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordekhai didn't bow down, nor did him reverence.

3. അപ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കലെ രാജഭൃത്യന്മാര് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയോടുനീ രാജകല്പന ലംഘിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

3. Then the king's servants, who were in the king's gate, said to Mordekhai, Why disobey you the king's mitzvah?

4. അവര് ഇങ്ങനെ ദിവസംപ്രതി അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവന് അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കാതിരുന്നതിനാല് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ പെരുമാറ്റം നിലനിലക്കുമോ എന്നു കാണേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് അതു ഹാമാനോടു അറിയിച്ചു; താന് യെഹൂദന് എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

4. Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily to him, and he didn't listen to them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordekhai's matters would stand: for he had told those who he was a Yehudi.

5. മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി തന്നെ കുമ്പിട്ടു നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു ഹാമാന് കോപംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞു.

5. When Haman saw that Mordekhai didn't bow down, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

6. എന്നാല് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയെ മാത്രം കയ്യേറ്റം ചെയ്യുന്നതു അവന്നു പുച്ഛകാര്യമായി തോന്നി; മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ ജാതി ഇന്നതെന്നു അവന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടീട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അഹശ്വേരോശിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തെല്ലാടവും ഉള്ള മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ ജാതിക്കാരായ യെഹൂദന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഹാമാന് തരം അന്വേഷിച്ചു.

6. But he scorned the thought of laying hands on Mordekhai alone; for they had made known to him the people of Mordekhai: therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Yehudim who were throughout the whole kingdom of Achashverosh, even the people of Mordekhai.

7. അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിന്റെ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടില് നീസാന് മാസമായ ഒന്നാം മാസത്തില് അവര് ആദാര് എന്ന പന്ത്രണ്ടാം മാസംവരെയുള്ള ഔരോ ദിവസത്തെയും ഔരോ മാസത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു ഹാമാന്റെ മുമ്പില്വെച്ചു പൂര് എന്ന ചീട്ടിട്ടു നോക്കി.

7. In the first month, which is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Achashverosh, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

8. പിന്നെ ഹാമാന് അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിനോടുനിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിലെ സകല സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലുമുള്ള ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു ജാതി ചിന്നിച്ചിതറിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണങ്ങള് മറ്റുള്ള സകലജാതികളുടേതിനോടും വ്യത്യാസപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രമാണങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവരെ അങ്ങനെ വിടുന്നതു രാജാവിന്നു യോഗ്യമല്ല.

8. Haman said to king Achashverosh, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom; and their laws are diverse from those of every people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to allow them.

9. രാജാവിന്നു സമ്മതമുണ്ടെങ്കില് അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സന്ദേശം എഴുതി അയക്കേണം; എന്നാല് ഞാന് കാര്യവിചാരകന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് പതിനായിരം താലന്ത് വെള്ളി രാജാവിന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിലേക്കു കൊടുത്തയക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. If it please the king, let it be written that they be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who have the charge of the king's business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

10. അപ്പോള് രാജാവു തന്റെ മോതിരം കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഊരി ആഗാഗ്യനായ ഹമ്മെദാഥയുടെ മകനായി യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ശത്രുവായ ഹാമാന്നു കൊടുത്തു.

10. The king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedata the Agagite, the Yehudim' enemy.

11. രാജാവു ഹാമാനോടുഞാന് ആ വെള്ളിയെയും ആ ജാതിയെയും നിനക്കു ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്തുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. The king said to Haman, The silver is given to you, the people also, to do with them as it seems good to you.

12. അങ്ങനെ ഒന്നാം മാസം പതിമ്മൂന്നാം തിയ്യതി രാജാവിന്റെ രായസക്കാരെ വിളിച്ചു; ഹാമാന് കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അവര് രാജപ്രതിനിധികള്ക്കും ഔരോ സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലെ ദേശാധിപധികള്ക്കും അതതു ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും അതതു സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലേക്കു അവിടത്തെ അക്ഷരത്തിലും അതതു ജനത്തിന്നും അവരുടെ ഭാഷയിലും എഴുതി; അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് അതെഴുതി രാജമോതിരംകൊണ്ടു മുദ്ര ഇട്ടു.

12. Then were the king's Sofrim called in the first month, on the thirteenth day of it; and there was written according to all that Haman commanded to the king's satraps, and to the governors who were over every province, and to the princes of every people, to every province according to the writing of it, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Achashverosh was it written, and it was sealed with the king's ring.

13. ആദാര്മാസമായ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം മാസം പതിമ്മൂന്നാം തിയ്യതി തന്നേ സകലയെഹൂദന്മാരെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കൂടെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു കൊന്നുമുടിക്കയും അവരുടെ വസ്തുവക കൊള്ളയിടുകയും ചെയ്യേണമെന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ സകലസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലേക്കും അഞ്ചല്ക്കാര്വശം എഴുത്തു അയച്ചു.

13. Letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Yehudim, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

14. അന്നത്തേക്കു ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കേണമെന്നു സകലജാതികള്ക്കും പരസ്യം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു കൊടുത്ത തീര്പ്പിന്റെ പകര്പ്പു ഔരോ സംസ്ഥാനത്തിലും പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി.

14. A copy of the writing, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that they should be ready against that day.

15. അഞ്ചല്ക്കാര് രാജ കല്പന പ്രമാണിച്ചു ക്ഷണത്തില് പുറപ്പെട്ടു പോയി; ശൂശന് രാജധാനിയിലും ആ തീര്പ്പു പരസ്യം ചെയ്തു; രാജാവും ഹാമാനും കുടിപ്പാന് ഇരുന്നു; ശൂശമ്പട്ടണമോ കലങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

15. The posts went forth in haste by the king's mitzvah, and the decree was given out in Shushan the palace. The king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Shushan was perplexed.
