1. എന്നാല് രെഹബെയാമിന്റെ രാജത്വം ഉറെച്ചു അവന് ബലം പ്രാപിച്ചശേഷം അവനും അവനോടുകൂടെ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

1. And when Rehoboam had established the kingdome and made it strong, hee forsooke the Lawe of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

2. അവര് യഹോവയോടു ദ്രോഹംചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു രെഹബെയാംരാജാവിന്റെ അഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടില്

2. Therefore in the fift yeere of King Rehoboam, Shishak the King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem (because they had transgressed against the Lord)

3. മിസ്രയീംരാജാവായ ശീശക് ആയിരത്തിരുനൂറു രഥങ്ങളോടും അറുപതിനായിരം കുതിരച്ചേവകരോടും കൂടെ യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നേരെ വന്നു; അവനോടുകൂടെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു വന്നിരുന്ന ലൂബ്യര്, സൂക്യര്, കൂശ്യര്, എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള പടജ്ജനം അസംഖ്യമായിരുന്നു.

3. With twelue hundreth charets, and three score thousande horsemen, and the people were without nomber, that came with him from Egypt, euen the Lubims, Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

4. അവന് യെഹൂദയോടു ചേര്ന്ന ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചു, യെരൂശലേംവരെയും വന്നു.

4. And he tooke the strong cities which were of Iudah, and came vnto Ierusalem.

5. അപ്പോള് ശെമയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് രെഹബെയാമിന്റെയും ശീശക് നിമിത്തം യെരൂശലേമില് കൂടിയിരുന്ന യെഹൂദാപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവരോടുയഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാനും നിങ്ങളെ ശീശക്കിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak.

6. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും രാജാവും തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ താഴ്ത്തിയഹോവ നീതിമാന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust.

7. അവര് തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ താഴ്ത്തി എന്നു യഹോവ കണ്ടപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ശെമയ്യാവിന്നു ഉണ്ടായതു എന്തെന്നാല്അവര് തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ താഴ്ത്തിയിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ അവര്ക്കും ഒരുവിധം രക്ഷ നലകും; എന്റെ കോപം ശീശക് മുഖാന്തരം യെരൂശലേമിന്മേല് ചൊരികയുമില്ല.

7. And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8. എങ്കിലും അവര് എന്റെ സേവയും അന്യദേശങ്ങളിലെ രാജത്വത്തിന്റെ സേവയും തിരിച്ചറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് അവന്നു അധീനന്മാരായ്തീരും.

8. Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth.

9. ഇങ്ങനെ മിസ്രയീംരാജാവായ ശീശക് യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നേരെ വന്നു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരവും രാജധാനിയിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരവും അപഹരിച്ചു ആസകലം എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി; ശലോമോന് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ പൊന് പരിചകളും അവന് എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.

9. Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made.

10. അവേക്കു പകരം രെഹബെയാംരാജാവു താമ്രംകൊണ്ടു പരിചകള് ഉണ്ടാക്കി രാജധാനിയുടെ വാതില് കാക്കുന്ന അകമ്പടിനായകന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

10. In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house.

11. രാജാവു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുമ്പോള് അകമ്പടികള് അവയെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പിടിക്കയും പിന്നെ അകമ്പടികളുടെ അറയില് കൊണ്ടുപോയി വെക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

11. And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber.

12. അവന് തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തിയപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ കോപം അവനെ മുഴുവനായി നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ വിട്ടുമാറി; യെഹൂദയില് ഏതാനും നന്മ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

12. And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered.

13. ഇങ്ങനെ രെഹബെയാംരാജാവു യെരൂശലേമില് തന്നെത്താന് ബലപ്പെടുത്തി വാണു. വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് രെഹബെയാമിന്നു നാല്പത്തൊന്നു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; യഹോവ തന്റെ നാമം സ്ഥാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലഗോത്രങ്ങളില്നിന്നും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത നഗരമായ യെരൂശലേമില് അവന് പതിനേഴു സംവത്സരം വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു നയമാ എന്നു പേര്. അവള് അമ്മോന്യസ്ത്രീ ആയിരുന്നു.

13. So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse.

14. യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മനസ്സു വെക്കാഞ്ഞതിനാല് അവന് ദോഷം ചെയ്തു.

14. And he did euill: for hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord.

15. രെഹബെയാമിന്റെ വൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് ആദ്യാവസാനം ശെമയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെയും ഇദ്ദോദര്ശകന്റെയും വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളില് വംശാവലിയായി എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; രെഹബെയാമിന്നും യൊരോബെയാമിന്നും തമ്മില് എല്ലാകാലത്തും യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

15. The actes also of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and Iddo the Seer, in rehearsing the genealogie? and there was warre alway betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam.

16. രെഹബെയാം തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്ര പ്രാപിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അബീയാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

16. And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
