1. സ്ത്രീകളില് അതിസുന്ദരിയായുള്ളോവേ, നിന്റെ പ്രിയന് എവിടെ പോയിരിക്കുന്നു? നിന്റെ പ്രിയന് ഏതുവഴിക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു? ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കാം.

1. Where has thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? where didst thy beloved separate himself? that we may seek him with thee.

2. തോട്ടങ്ങളില് മേയിപ്പാനും തമാരപ്പൂക്കളെ പറിപ്പാനും എന്റെ പ്രിയന് തന്റെ തോട്ടത്തില് സുഗന്ധസസ്യങ്ങളുടെ തടങ്ങളിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather the lilies.

3. ഞാന് എന്റെ പ്രിയന്നുള്ളവള്; എന്റെ പ്രിയന് എനിക്കുള്ളവന് ; അവന് താമരകളുടെ ഇടയില് മേയക്കുന്നു.

3. I [am] my beloved's, and my beloved [is] mine; he feeds among the lilies.

4. എന്റെ പ്രിയേ, നീ തിര്സ്സാപോലെ സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ളവള്; യെരൂശലേംപോലെ മനോഹര, കൊടികളോടു കൂടിയ സൈന്യംപോലെ ഭയങ്കര.

4. Thou [art] beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, as desirable as Jerusalem, imposing as the standard-bearer [of the army].

5. നിന്റെ കണ്ണു എങ്കല്നിന്നു തിരിക്ക; അതു എന്നെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ തലമുടി ഗിലെയാദ് മലഞ്ചെരിവില് കിടക്കുന്ന കോലാട്ടിന് കൂട്ടംപോലെയാകുന്നു.

5. Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me; thy hair [is] as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead.

6. നിന്റെ പല്ലു കുളിച്ചു കയറിവരുന്ന ആടുകളെപ്പോലെയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവയില് ഒന്നും മച്ചിയായിരിക്കാതെ എല്ലാം ഇരട്ട പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു.

6. Thy teeth [are] as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, of which every one bears twins, and [there is] not one barren among them.

7. നിന്റെ ചെന്നികള് നിന്റെ മൂടുപടത്തിന്റെ ഉള്ളില് മാതളപ്പഴത്തിന്റെ ഖണ്ഡംപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

7. As slices of pomegranate [are] thy temples within thy locks.

8. അറുപതു രാജ്ഞികളും എണ്പതു വെപ്പാട്ടികളും അസംഖ്യം കന്യകമാരും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

8. There are sixty queens, and eighty concubines, and virgins without number.

9. എന്റെ പ്രാവും എന്റെ നിഷ്കളങ്കയുമായവളോ ഒരുത്തി മാത്രം; അവള് തന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഏകപുത്രിയും തന്നെ പ്രസവിച്ചവള്ക്കു ഔമനയും ആകുന്നു; കന്യകമാര് അവളെ കണ്ടു ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു വാഴ്ത്തും; രാജ്ഞികളും വെപ്പാട്ടികളും കൂടെ അവളെ പുകഴ്ത്തും.

9. My dove is [but] one, my perfect [one]; she [is] the [only] one of her mother, she [is] the choice [one] of her that brought her into the light. The virgins saw her and called her blessed; [yea], the queens and the concubines and they praised her.

10. അരുണോദയംപോലെ ശോഭയും ചന്ദ്രനെപ്പോലെ സൌന്ദര്യവും സൂര്യനെപ്പോലെ നിര്മ്മലതയും കൊടികളോടു കൂടിയ സൈന്യംപോലെ ഭയങ്കരത്വവും ഉള്ളോരിവള് ആര്?

10. Who [is] she [that] shows herself forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, [and] imposing as the standard-bearer [of the army]?

11. ഞാന് തോട്ടിന്നരികെയുള്ള സസ്യങ്ങളെ കാണേണ്ടതിന്നും മുന്തിരിവള്ളി തളിര്ക്കയും മാതളനാരകം പൂക്കയും ചെയ്തുവോ എന്നു നോക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും അക്രോത്ത് തോട്ടത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു.

11. I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, [and] to see whether the vines flourished, [and] the pomegranates budded.

12. എന്റെ അഭിലാഷം ഹേതുവായി ഞാന് അറിയാതെ എന്റെ പ്രഭുജനത്തിന് രഥങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് എത്തി.

12. Or ever I was aware, my soul made me return [like] the chariots of Amminadib.
