1. മനുഷ്യന് ഭൂമിയില് പെരുകിത്തുടങ്ങി അവര്ക്കും പുത്രിമാര് ജനിച്ചപ്പോള്

1. Men began to increase their numbers on the earth, and daughters were born to them.

2. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് മനുഷ്യരുടെ പുത്രിമാരെ സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ളവരെന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു തങ്ങള്ക്കു ബോധിച്ച ഏവരെയും ഭാര്യമാരായി എടുത്തു.

2. The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. So they married any of them they chose.

3. അപ്പോള് യഹോവമനുഷ്യനില് എന്റെ ആത്മാവു സദാകാലവും വാദിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കയില്ല; അവന് ജഡം തന്നേയല്ലോ; എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ കാലം നൂറ്റിരുപതു സംവത്സരമാകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

3. Then the Lord said, 'My Spirit will not struggle with man forever. He will die. He will have only 120 years to live until I judge him.'

4. അക്കാലത്തു ഭൂമിയില് മല്ലന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അതിന്റെ ശേഷവും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് മനുഷ്യരുടെ പുത്രിമാരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നിട്ടു അവര് മക്കളെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; ഇവരാകുന്നു പുരാതനകാലത്തെ വീരന്മാര്, കീര്ത്തിപ്പെട്ട പുരുഷന്മാര് തന്നേ.

4. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days. That was when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. The Nephilim were the heroes of long ago. They were famous men. Nephilim were also on the earth later on.

5. ഭൂമിയില് മനുഷ്യന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത വലിയതെന്നും അവന്റെ ഹൃദയവിചാരങ്ങളുടെ നിരൂപണമൊക്കെയും എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദോഷമുള്ളതത്രേ എന്നും യഹോവ കണ്ടു.

5. The Lord saw how bad the sins of man had become on the earth. All of the thoughts in his heart were always directed only toward what was evil.

6. താന് ഭൂമിയില് മനുഷ്യനെ ഉണ്ടാക്കുകകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ അനുതപിച്ചു; അതു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു ദുഃഖമായി

6. The Lord was very sad that he had made man on the earth. His heart was filled with pain.

7. ഞാന് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള മനുഷ്യനെ ഭൂമിയില് നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും; മനുഷ്യനെയും മൃഗത്തെയും ഇഴജാതിയെയും ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികളെയും തന്നേ; അവയെ ഉണ്ടാക്കുകകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അനുതപിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

7. So the Lord said, 'I created man on the earth. But I will wipe them out. I will destroy people and animals alike. I will also destroy the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air. I am very sad that I have made man.'

8. എന്നാല് നോഹെക്കു യഹോവയുടെ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു.

8. But the Lord was pleased with Noah.

9. നോഹയുടെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യം എന്തെന്നാല്നോഹ നീതിമാനും തന്റെ തലമുറയില് നിഷ്കളങ്കനുമായിരുന്നു; നോഹ ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ നടന്നു.

9. Here is the story of Noah. Noah was a godly man. He was without blame among the people of his time. He walked with God.

10. ശേം, ഹാം, യാഫെത്ത് എന്ന മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെ നോഹ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

10. Noah had three sons. Their names were Shem, Ham and Japheth.

11. എന്നാല് ഭൂമി ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ വഷളായി; ഭൂമി അതിക്രമംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

11. The earth was very sinful in God's eyes. It was full of mean and harmful acts.

12. ദൈവം ഭൂമിയെ നോക്കി, അതു വഷളായി എന്നു കണ്ടു; സകലജഡവും ഭൂമിയില് തന്റെ വഴി വഷളാക്കിയിരുന്നു.

12. God saw how sinful the earth had become. All of the people on earth were leading very sinful lives.

13. ദൈവം നോഹയോടു കല്പിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാല്സകലജഡത്തിന്റെയും അവസാനം എന്റെ മുമ്പില് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഭൂമി അവരാല് അതിക്രമംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് അവരെ ഭൂമിയോടുകൂടെ നശിപ്പിക്കും.

13. So God said to Noah, 'I am going to put an end to all people. They have filled the earth with their harmful acts. You can be sure that I am going to destroy both them and the earth.

14. നീ ഗോഫര്മരംകൊണ്ടു ഒരു പെട്ടകംഉണ്ടാക്കുക; പെട്ടകത്തിന്നു അറകള് ഉണ്ടാക്കി, അകത്തും പുറത്തും കീല് തേക്കേണം.

14. 'So make yourself an ark out of cypress wood. Make rooms in it. Cover it with tar inside and out.

15. അതു ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നാല്പെട്ടകത്തിന്റെ നീളം മുന്നൂറു മുഴം; വീതി അമ്പതു മുഴം; ഉയരം മുപ്പതു മുഴം.

15. Here is how I want you to build it. The ark has to be 450 feet long. It has to be 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.

16. പെട്ടകത്തിന്നു കിളിവാതില് ഉണ്ടാക്കേണം; മേല്നിന്നു ഒരു മുഴം താഴെ അതിനെ വെക്കേണം; പെട്ടകത്തിന്റെ വാതില് അതിന്റെ വശത്തുവെക്കേണംതാഴത്തെയും രണ്ടാമത്തെയും മൂന്നാമത്തെയും തട്ടായി അതിനെ ഉണ്ടാക്കേണം.

16. Make a roof for it. Leave the sides of the ark open a foot and a half from the top. Put a door in one side of the ark. Make lower, middle and upper decks.

17. ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴില്നിന്നു ജീവശ്വാസമുള്ള സര്വ്വജഡത്തെയും നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഭൂമിയില് ഒരു ജലപ്രളയം വരുത്തും; ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നശിച്ചുപോകും.

17. 'I am going to bring a flood on the earth. It will destroy all life under the sky. It will destroy every living creature that breathes. Everything on earth will die.

18. നിന്നോടോ ഞാന് ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്യും; നീയും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും ഭാര്യയും പുത്രന്മാരുടെ ഭാര്യമാരും പെട്ടകത്തില് കടക്കേണം.

18. 'But I will make my covenant with you. You will enter the ark. Your sons and your wife and your sons' wives will enter it with you.

19. സകല ജീവികളില്നിന്നും, സര്വ്വജഡത്തില്നിന്നും തന്നേ, ഈരണ്ടീരണ്ടിനെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായിട്ടു പെട്ടകത്തില് കയറ്റേണം; അവ ആണും പെണ്ണുമായിരിക്കേണം.

19. 'Bring two of every living thing into the ark. Bring male and female of them into it. They will be kept alive with you.

20. അതതു തരം പക്ഷികളില്നിന്നും അതതു തരം മൃഗങ്ങളില്നിന്നും ഭൂമിയിലെ അതതു തരം ഇഴജാതികളില്നിന്നൊക്കെയും ഈരണ്ടീരണ്ടു ജീവ രക്ഷെക്കായിട്ടു നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരേണം.

20. Two of every kind of bird will come to you. Two of every kind of animal will come to you. And two of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you. All of them will be kept alive with you.

21. നീയോ സകലഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങളില്നിന്നും വേണ്ടുന്നതു എടുത്തു സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം; അതു നിനക്കും അവേക്കും ആഹാരമായിരിക്കേണം.

21. 'Take every kind of food that you will need. Store it away. It will be food for you and for them.'

22. ദൈവം തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും നോഹ ചെയ്തു; അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ അവന് ചെയ്തു.

22. Noah did everything exactly as God commanded him.
