1. ആഹാബിന്നു ശമര്യ്യയില് എഴുപതു പുത്രന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേല് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും മൂപ്പന്മാര്ക്കും ആഹാബിന്റെ പുത്രപാലകന്മാര്ക്കും ശമര്യ്യയിലേക്കു എഴുത്തുകളെ എഴുതി അയച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്

1. Now Ach'av had seventy sons in Shomron. Yehu wrote letters, and sent to Shomron, to the rulers of Yizre`el, even the Zakenim, and to those who brought up the sons of Ach'av, saying,

2. നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും രഥങ്ങളും കുതിരകളും ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണവും ആയുധങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈവശം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

2. Now as soon as this letter comes to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and armor;

3. ആകയാല് ഈ എഴുത്തു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിയ ഉടനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരില് ഉത്തമനും യോഗ്യനുമായവനെ നോക്കിയെടുത്തു അവന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുത്തി നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വിന് .

3. look you out the best and meet of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.

4. അവരോ ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടുരണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും അവനോടു എതിര്ത്തുനില്പാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലല്ലോ; പിന്നെ നാം എങ്ങനെ നിലക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, the two kings didn't stand before him: how then shall we stand?

5. He who was over the household, and he who was over the city, the Zakenim also, and those who brought up the children, sent to Yehu, saying, We are your servants, and will do all that you shall bid us; we will not make any man king: you do that which is good in your eyes.

6. എന്നാല് രാജകുമാരന്മാര് എഴുപതു പേരും തങ്ങളെ വളര്ത്തുന്ന നഗരപ്രധാനികളോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു.

6. Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If you be on my side, and if you will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Yizre`el by tomorrow this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.

7. ഈ എഴുത്തു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവര് രാജകുമാരന്മാരെ എഴുപതുപേരെയും പിടിച്ചു കൊന്നു അവരുടെ തലകൊട്ടയില് ആക്കി യിസ്രെയേലില് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.

7. It happened, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and killed them, even seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Yizre`el.

8. ഒരു ദൂതന് വന്നു അവനോടുഅവര് രാജകുമാരന്മാരുടെ തലകൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു. അവയെ പടിപ്പുരവാതില്ക്കല് രണ്ടു കൂമ്പാരമായി കൂട്ടി രാവിലെവരെ വെച്ചേക്കുവിന് എന്നു അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.

8. There came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. He said, Lay you them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.

9. പിറ്റെന്നാള് രാവിലെ അവന് പുറത്തു ചെന്നുനിന്നു സര്വ്വജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് നീതിമാന്മാര്; ഞാനോ എന്റെ യജമാനന്നു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി അവനെ കൊന്നു കളഞ്ഞു; എന്നാല് ഇവരെ ഒക്കെയും കൊന്നതു ആര്?

9. It happened in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, You are righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and killed him; but who struck all these?

10. ആകയാല് യഹോവ ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളില് ഒന്നും നിഷ്ഫലമാകയില്ല എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് ; യഹോവ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ഏലീയാവുമുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

10. Know now that there shall fall to the eretz nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spoke concerning the house of Ach'av: for the LORD has done that which he spoke by his servant Eliyah.

11. അങ്ങനെ യേഹൂ യിസ്രെയേലില് ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചവരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ സകല മഹത്തുക്കളെയും ബന്ധുക്കളെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ആരും ശേഷിക്കാതവണ്ണം സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

11. So Yehu struck all that remained of the house of Ach'av in Yizre`el, and all his great men, and his familiar friends, and his Kohanim, until he left him none remaining.

12. പിന്നെ അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശമര്യ്യയില് ചെന്നു വഴിയില് ഇടയന്മാര് രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന വീട്ടിന്നരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് യോഹൂ

12. He arose and departed, and went to Shomron. As he was at the shearing-house of the shepherds in the way,

13. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കണ്ടിട്ടുനിങ്ങള് ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. ഞങ്ങള് അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര്; രാജാവിന്റെ മക്കളെയും രാജ്ഞിയുടെ മക്കളെയും അഭിവന്ദനം ചെയ്വാന് പോകയാകുന്നു എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Yehu met with the brothers of Achazyah king of Yehudah, and said, Who are you? They answered, We are the brothers of Achazyah: and we go down to Greet the children of the king and the children of the queen.

14. അപ്പോള് അവന് അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അവര് അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിച്ചു; അവരെ നാല്പത്തിരണ്ടുപേരെയും രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന വീട്ടിന്റെ കളത്തിങ്കല്വെച്ചു കൊന്നു; അവരില് ഒരുത്തനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ല.

14. He said, Take them alive. They took them alive, and killed them at the pit of the shearing-house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them.

15. അവന് അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള് തന്നെ എതിരേല്പാന് വരുന്ന രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബിനെ കണ്ടു വന്ദനം ചെയ്തു അവനോടുഎന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം പരമാര്ത്ഥമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യോനാദാബ് അതെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ എങ്കില് കൈ തരിക. അവന് കൈ കൊടുത്തു; അവന് അവനെ തന്റെ രഥത്തില് കയറ്റി.

15. When he was departed there, he lighted on Yehonadav the son of Rechav coming to meet him; and he greeted him, and said to him, Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart? Yehonadav answered, It is. If it be, give me your hand. He gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

16. നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ വന്നു യഹോവയെക്കുറിച്ചു എനിക്കുള്ള ശുഷ്കാന്തി കാണ്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവനെ രഥത്തില് കയറ്റി അവര് ഔടിച്ചു പോയി.

16. He said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

17. ശമര്യ്യയില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവന് ശമര്യ്യയില് ആഹാബിന്നു ശേഷിച്ചവരെ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ ഏലീയാവോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരം ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

17. When he came to Shomron, he struck all who remained to Ach'av in Shomron, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke to Eliyah.

18. പിന്നെ യേഹൂ സകലജനത്തെയും കൂട്ടി അവരോടുആഹാബ് ബാലിനെ അല്പമേ സേവിച്ചുള്ളു; യേഹൂവോ അവനെ അധികം സേവിക്കും.

18. Yehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, Ach'av served Ba`al a little; but Yehu will serve him much.

19. ആകയാല് ബാലിന്റെ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും സകലപൂജകന്മാരെയും സകലപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുത്തുവിന് ; ഒരുത്തനും വരാതിരിക്കരുതു; ഞാന് ബാലിന്നു ഒരു മഹായാഗം കഴിപ്പാന് പോകുന്നു; വരാത്തവര് ആരും ജീവനോടിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; എന്നാല് ബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാരെ നശിപ്പിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം യേഹൂ ഈ ഉപായം പ്രയോഗിച്ചു.

19. Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Ba`al, all his worshippers, and all his Kohanim; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Ba`al; whoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Yehu did it in subtlety, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Ba`al.

20. ബാലിന്നു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധസഭായോഗം ഘോഷിപ്പിന് എന്നു യേഹൂ കല്പിച്ചു. അവര് അങ്ങനെ ഘേഷിച്ചു.

20. Yehu said, Sanctify a solemn assembly for Ba`al. They proclaimed it.

21. യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേല് ദേശത്തു എല്ലാടവും ആളയച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ബാലിന്റെ സകല പൂജകന്മാരും വന്നു; ഒരുത്തനും വരാതിരുന്നില്ല; അവര് ബാലിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് കൂടി; ബാല്ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു അറ്റംമുതല് മറ്റേ അറ്റംവരെ തിങ്ങിനിറഞ്ഞു.

21. Yehu sent through all Yisra'el: and all the worshippers of Ba`al came, so that there was not a man left that didn't come. They came into the house of Ba`al; and the house of Ba`al was filled from one end to another.

22. അവന് വസ്ത്ര വിചാരകനോടുബാലിന്റെ സകലപൂജകന്മാര്ക്കും വസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു കൊടുക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവന് വസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു കൊടുത്തു.

22. He said to him who was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Ba`al. He brought them forth vestments.

23. പിന്നെ യേഹൂവും രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബും ബാലിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് കടന്നു ബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാരോടുബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാര് മാത്രമല്ലാതെ യഹോവയുടെ പൂജകന്മാര് ആരും ഇവിടെ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തിരഞ്ഞു നോക്കുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

23. Yehu went, and Yehonadav the son of Rechav, into the house of Ba`al; and he said to the worshippers of Ba`al, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Ba`al only.

24. അവര് ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളും ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും കഴിപ്പാന് അകത്തു ചെന്നശേഷം യേഹൂ പുറത്തു എണ്പതു പേരെ നിര്ത്തിഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കുന്ന ആളുകളില് ഒരുത്തന് ചാടിപ്പോയാല് അവന്റെ ജീവന്നു പകരം അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചവന്റെ ജീവന് ആയിരിക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

24. They went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Yehu had appointed him eighty men outside, and said, If any of the men whom I bring into your hands escape, he who lets him go, his life shall be for the life of him.

25. ഹോമയാഗം കഴിച്ചുതീര്ന്നപ്പോള് യേഹൂ അകമ്പടികളോടും പടനായകന്മാരോടുംഅകത്തു കടന്നു അവരെ കൊല്ലുവിന് ; ഒരുത്തനും പുറത്തു പോകരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് അവരെ കൊന്നു; അകമ്പടികളും പടനായകന്മാരും അവരെ പുറത്തു എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു; ബാല്ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് ചെന്നു

25. It happened, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Yehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and kill them; let none come forth. They struck them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Ba`al.

26. ബാല്ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ സ്തംഭവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

26. They brought forth the pillars that were in the house of Ba`al, and burned them.

27. അവര് ബാല്സ്തംഭത്തെ തകര്ത്തു ബാല്ക്ഷേത്രത്തെ ഇടിച്ചു അതിനെ മറപ്പുരയാക്കിത്തീര്ത്തു; അതു ഇന്നുവരെ അങ്ങനെതന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

27. They broke down the pillar of Ba`al, and broke down the house of Ba`al, and made it a latrine, to this day.

28. ഇങ്ങനെ യേഹൂ ബാലിനെ യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

28. Thus Yehu destroyed Ba`al out of Yisra'el.

29. എങ്കിലും ബേഥേലിലും ദാനിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പൊന് കാളകൂട്ടികളെക്കൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേലിനെ പാപം ചെയ്യുമാറാക്കിയ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ യേഹൂ വിട്ടുമാറിയില്ല.

29. However from the sins of Yarov`am the son of Nevat, with which he made Yisra'el to sin, Yehu didn't depart from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Beit-El, and that were in Dan.

30. യഹോവ യേഹൂവിനോടുഎനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളതു നീ നല്ലവണ്ണം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും എന്റെ ഹിതപ്രകാരം ഒക്കെയും ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹത്തോടു ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാസനത്തില് നാലാം തലമുറവരെ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

30. The LORD said to Yehu, Because you have done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, and have done to the house of Ach'av according to all that was in my heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Yisra'el.

31. എങ്കിലും യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം പൂര്ണ്ണമനസ്സോടെ നടക്കുന്നതിന്നു ജാഗ്രത കാണിച്ചില്ല; യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ അവന് വിട്ടുമാറിയതുമില്ല.

31. But Yehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, with all his heart: he didn't depart from the sins of Yarov`am, with which he made Yisra'el to sin.

32. ആ കാലത്തു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിനെ കുറെച്ചുകളവാന് തുടങ്ങി; ഹസായേല് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അതിരുകളിലൊക്കെയും അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു.

32. In those days the LORD began to cut off from Yisra'el: and Haza'el struck them in all the borders of Yisra'el;

33. അവന് യോര്ദ്ദാന്നു കിഴക്കു ഗാദ്യര്, രൂബേന്യര്, മനശ്ശേയര് എന്നിവരുടെ ദേശമായ ഗിലെയാദ് മുഴുവനും ജയിച്ചടക്കി അര്ന്നോന് തോട്ടിന്നരികെയുള്ള അരോവേര് മുതല് ഗിലെയാദും ബാശാനും തന്നേ.

33. from the Yarden eastward, all the land of Gil`ad, the Gadi, and the Re'uveni, and the Manashshi, from `Aro`er, which is by the valley of the Arnon, even Gil`ad and Bashan.

34. യേഹൂവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ സകലപരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

34. Now the rest of the acts of Yehu, and all that he did, and all his might, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra'el?

35. യേഹൂ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമര്യ്യയില് അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസ് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

35. Yehu slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Shomron. Yeho'achaz his son reigned in his place.

36. യേഹൂ ശമര്യ്യയില് യിസ്രായേലിനെ വാണ കാലം ഇരുപത്തെട്ടു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു.

36. The time that Yehu reigned over Yisra'el in Shomron was twenty-eight years.
