1. ദാവീദ് തന്റെ അരമനയില് വസിച്ചിരിക്കുംകാലത്തു ഒരുനാള് നാഥാന് പ്രവാചകനോടുഇതാ ഞാന് ദേവദാരുകൊണ്ടുള്ള അരമനയില് വസിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകമോ തിരശ്ശീലകള്ക്കു കീഴെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. King David was now living in his palace. One day he sent for the prophet Nathan and said to him, 'Here I am living in a house built of cedar, but the LORD's Covenant Box is kept in a tent!'

2. നാഥാന് ദാവീദിനോടുനിന്റെ താല്പര്യംപോലെയൊക്കെയും ചെയ്താലും; യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Nathan answered, 'Do whatever you have in mind, because God is with you.'

3. എന്നാല് അന്നു രാത്രി നാഥാന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

3. But that night God said to Nathan,

4. നീ ചെന്നു എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനോടു പറകയഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; എനിക്കു വസിപ്പാനുള്ള ആലയം പണിയേണ്ടതു നീയല്ല.

4. 'Go and tell my servant David that I say to him, 'You are not the one to build a temple for me to live in.

5. ഞാന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നാള്മുതല് ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞാന് ഒരു ആലയത്തില് വാസം ചെയ്യാതെ കൂടാരത്തില്നിന്നു കൂടരത്തിലേക്കും നിവാസത്തില്നിന്നു നിവാസത്തിലേക്കും സഞ്ചരിച്ചു.

5. From the time I rescued the people of Israel from Egypt until now I have never lived in a temple; I have always lived in tents and moved from place to place.

6. എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടുംകൂടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചുവന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങളില് എവിടെവെച്ചെങ്കിലും എന്റെ ജനത്തെ മേയിപ്പാന് ഞാന് കല്പിച്ചാക്കിയ യിസ്രായേല് ന്യായാധിപതിമാരില് ആരോടെങ്കിലുംനിങ്ങള് എനിക്കു ദേവദാരുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയാതെയിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ഒരു വാക്കു ഞാന് കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

6. In all my traveling with the people of Israel I never asked any of the leaders that I appointed why they had not built me a temple made of cedar.'

7. ആകയാല് നീ എന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ ദാവീദിനോടു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനീ എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു പ്രഭുവായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ പുല്പുറത്തുനിന്നു, ആടുകളെ നോക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ എടുത്തു.

7. 'So tell my servant David that I, the LORD Almighty, say to him, 'I took you from looking after sheep in the fields and made you the ruler of my people Israel.

8. നീ സഞ്ചരിച്ചുവന്ന എല്ലായിടത്തും ഞാന് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു നിന്റെ സകലശത്രുക്കളെയും നിന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള മഹാന്മാരുടെ നാമംപോലെ ഒരു നാമം ഞാന് നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടാക്കും. ഞാന് എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഒരു സ്ഥലം കല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കയും അവര് സ്വന്തസ്ഥലത്തു പാര്ത്തു അവിടെനിന്നു ഇളകാതവണ്ണം അവരെ നടുകയും ചെയ്യും; പണ്ടത്തെപ്പോലെയും എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഞാന് ന്യായാധിപന്മാരെ കല്പിച്ചാക്കിയ കാലത്തെപ്പോലെയും ഇനി ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് അവരെ ക്ഷയിപ്പിക്കയില്ല.

8. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have defeated all your enemies as you advanced. I will make you as famous as the greatest leaders in the world.

9. ഞാന് നിന്റെ സകലശത്രുക്കളെയും അടക്കും; യഹോവ നിനക്കു ഒരു ഗൃഹം പണിയുമെന്നും ഞാന് നിന്നോടു അറിയിക്കുന്നു.

9. I have chosen a place for my people Israel and have settled them there, where they will live without being oppressed any more. Ever since they entered this land they have been attacked by violent people, but this will not happen again. I promise to defeat all your enemies and to give you descendants.

10. നീ നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ ജീവകാലം തികയുമ്പോള് ഞാന് നിന്റെ ശേഷം നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരില് ഒരുവനായ നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ എഴുന്നേല്പിക്കയും അവന്റെ രാജത്വം സ്ഥിരമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

11. When you die and are buried with your ancestors, I will make one of your sons king and will keep his kingdom strong.

12. He will be the one to build a temple for me, and I will make sure that his dynasty continues forever.

13. ഞാന് അവനെ എന്റെ ആലയത്തിലും എന്റെ രാജത്വത്തിലും എന്നേക്കും നിലനിര്ത്തും; അവന്റെ സിംഹാസനവും എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കും.

13. I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will not withdraw my support from him as I did from Saul, whom I removed so that you could be king.

14. ഈ വാക്കുകളും ഈ ദര്ശനവും എല്ലാം നാഥാന് ദാവീദിനോടു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.

14. I will put him in charge of my people and my kingdom forever. His dynasty will never end.' '

15. അപ്പോള് ദാവീദ് രാജാവു അകത്തു ചെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് ഇരുന്നു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്യഹോവയായ ദൈവമേ, നീ എന്നെ ഇത്രത്തോളം കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് ഞാന് ആര്? എന്റെ ഗൃഹവും എന്തുള്ളു?

15. Nathan told David everything that God had revealed to him.

16. ദൈവമേ, ഇതും പോരാ എന്നു തോന്നീട്ടു യഹോവയായ ദൈവമേ, വരുവാനുള്ള ദീര്ഘകാലത്തേക്കു അടിയന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും നീ അരുളിച്ചെയ്കയും ശ്രേഷ്ഠപദവിയിലുള്ള മനുഷ്യന്റെ അവസ്ഥെക്കൊത്തവണ്ണം എന്നെ ആദരിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. Then King David went into the Tent of the LORD's presence, sat down, and prayed, 'I am not worthy of what you have already done for me, LORD God, nor is my family.

17. അടിയന്നു ചെയ്ത ബഹുമാനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ദാവീദ് ഇനി എന്തു പറയേണ്ടു? നീ അടിയനെ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

17. Yet now you are doing even more; you have made promises about my descendants in the years to come, and you, LORD God, are already treating me like someone great.

18. യഹോവേ, അടിയന് നിമിത്തവും നിന്റെ പ്രസാദപ്രകാരവും നീ ഈ മഹിമ ഒക്കെയും പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു ഈ വങ്കാര്യം എല്ലാം അറിയിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. What more can I say to you! You know me well, and yet you honor me, your servant.

19. ഞങ്ങള് സ്വന്തചെവികൊണ്ടു കേട്ടതൊക്കെയും ഔര്ത്താല് യഹോവേ, നിന്നെപ്പോലെ ഒരുത്തനുമില്ല; നീ അല്ലാതെ ഒരു ദൈവവുമില്ല.

19. It was your will and purpose to do this for me and to show me my future greatness.

20. മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു നീ ഉദ്ധരിച്ച നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു ജാതികളെ നീക്കിക്കളകയില് വലിയതും ഭയങ്കരവുമായ കാര്യങ്ങളാല് നിനക്കു ഒരു നാമം സമ്പാദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നുദൈവമേ നീ ചെന്നു നിനക്കു സ്വന്തജനമായി വിണ്ടെടുത്ത നിന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെപ്പോലെ ഭൂമിയില് ഏതൊരു ജാതിയുള്ളു?

20. LORD, there is none like you; we have always known that you alone are God.

21. നിന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ നീ എന്നേക്കും നിനക്കു സ്വന്തജനമാക്കുകയും യഹോവേ, നീ അവര്ക്കും ദൈവമായ്തീരുകയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

21. There is no other nation on earth like Israel, whom you rescued from slavery to make them your own people. The great and wonderful things you did for them spread your fame throughout the world. You rescued your people from Egypt and drove out other nations as your people advanced.

22. ആകയാല് യഹോവേ, ഇപ്പോള് നീ അടിയനെയും അടിയന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനം എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ; അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ ചെയ്യേണമേ.

22. You have made Israel your own people forever, and you, LORD, have become their God.

23. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമാകുന്നു; യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ദൈവം തന്നേ എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ നാമം എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരപ്പെട്ടു മഹത്വപ്പെടുകയും നിന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹം നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിലനില്ക്കയും ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ.

23. 'And now, O LORD, fulfill for all time the promise you made about me and my descendants, and do what you said you would.

24. എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, അടിയന്നു നീ ഒരു ഗൃഹം പണിയുമെന്നു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അടിയന് തിരുസന്നിധിയില് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പാന് ധൈര്യംപ്രാപിച്ചു.

24. Your fame will be great, and people will forever say, 'The LORD Almighty is God over Israel.' And you will preserve my dynasty for all time.

25. ആകയാല് യഹോവേ, നീ തന്നേ ദൈവം; അടിയന്നു ഈ നന്മയെ നീ വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

25. I have the courage to pray this prayer to you, my God, because you have revealed all this to me, your servant, and have told me that you will make my descendants kings.

26. അതുകൊണ്ടു അടിയന്റെ ഗൃഹം തിരുമുമ്പാകെ എന്നേക്കും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് നിനക്കു പ്രസാദം തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവേ, നീ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു എന്നേക്കും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടും ഇരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

26. You, LORD, are God, and you have made this wonderful promise to me.
