1. സംഭവിച്ചതൊക്കെയും അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി വസ്ത്രം കീറി രട്ടുടുത്തു വെണ്ണീര് വാരി ഇട്ടുംകൊണ്ടു പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ നടുവില് ചെന്നു കൈപ്പോടെ അത്യുച്ചത്തില് നിലവിളിച്ചു.

1. When Mordecai heard about all that had been done, he tore his clothes. Then he put on sackcloth, put ashes on his head, and went out into the city crying loudly.

2. അവന് രാജാവിന്റെ പടിവാതിലോളവും വന്നുഎന്നാല് രട്ടുടുത്തുംകൊണ്ടു ആര്ക്കും രാജാവിന്റെ പടിവാതിലിന്നകത്തു കടന്നുകൂടായിരുന്നു.

2. But Mordecai went only as far as the king's gate. No one was allowed to enter the gate dressed in sackcloth.

3. രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയും തീര്പ്പും ചെന്ന ഔരോ സംസ്ഥാനത്തും യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് മഹാദുഃഖവും ഉപവാസവും കരച്ചലും വിലാപവും ഉണ്ടായി; പലരും രട്ടുടുത്തു വെണീറ്റില് കിടന്നു.

3. In every province where the king's command had come, there was much crying and sadness among the Jews. They were fasting and crying loudly. Many Jews were lying on the ground dressed in sackcloth with ashes on their heads.

4. എസ്തേരിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളും ഷണ്ഡന്മാരും വന്നു അതു രാജ്ഞിയെ അറിയിച്ചപ്പോള് അവള് അത്യന്തം വ്യസനിച്ചു മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ രട്ടു നീക്കി അവനെ ഉടുപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്നു വസ്ത്രം കൊടുത്തയച്ചു; എന്നാല് അവന് വാങ്ങിയില്ല.

4. Esther's slave women and eunuchs came to her and told her about Mordecai. This made Queen Esther very sad and upset. She sent clothes for Mordecai to put on instead of sackcloth, but he would not accept them.

5. അപ്പോള് എസ്ഥേര് തന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷെക്കു രാജാവു ആക്കിയിരുന്ന ഷണ്ഡന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തനായ ഹഥാക്കിനെ വിളിച്ചു, അതു എന്തെന്നും അതിന്റെ കാരണം എന്തെന്നും അറിയണ്ടേതിന്നു മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ അടുക്കല് പോയിവരുവാന് അവന്നു കല്പന കൊടുത്തു.

5. Then Esther called Hathach, one of the king's eunuchs who had been chosen to serve her. She commanded him to find out what was bothering Mordecai, and why.

6. അങ്ങനെ ഹഥാക്ക് രാജാവിന്റെ പടിവാതിലിന്നു മുമ്പില് പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

6. So Hathach went out to where Mordecai was in the open place of the city in front of the king's gate.

7. മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി തനിക്കു സംഭവിച്ചതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദന്മാരെ നശിപ്പിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ഹാമാന് രാജഭണ്ഡാരത്തിലേക്കു കൊടുക്കാമെന്നു വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്ത ദ്രവ്യസംഖ്യയും അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

7. Then Mordecai told Hathach everything that had happened to him. Mordecai told him about the exact amount of money Haman had promised to put into the king's treasury for killing Jews.

8. അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശൂശനില് പരസ്യമാക്കിയിരുന്ന തീര്പ്പിന്റെ പകര്പ്പ് അവന് അവന്റെ കയ്യില് കൊടുത്തു ഇതു എസ്ഥേരിനെ കാണിച്ചു വിവരം അറിയിപ്പാനും അവള് രാജസന്നിധിയില് ചെന്നു തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി അപേക്ഷയും യാചനയും കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവളോടു ആജ്ഞാപിപ്പാനും പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Mordecai also gave Hathach a copy of the king's command to kill the Jews. The command had been sent out all over the city of Susa. He wanted Hathach to show it to Esther and tell her everything. And he told him to encourage Esther to go to the king and beg him for mercy for Mordecai and her people.

9. അങ്ങനെ ഹഥാക്ക് ചെന്നു മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ വാക്കു എസ്ഥേരിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

9. Hathach went back and told Esther everything Mordecai had said.

10. എസ്ഥേര് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയോടു ചെന്നു പറവാന് ഹഥാക്കിന്നു കല്പന കൊടുത്തതു എന്തെന്നാല്

10. Then Esther told Hathach to say this to Mordecai:

11. യാതൊരു പുരുഷനോ സ്ത്രീയോ വിളിക്കപ്പെടാതെ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അകത്തെ പ്രാകാരത്തില് ചെന്നുവെങ്കില് ജീവനോടിരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം രാജാവു പൊന് ചെങ്കോല് ആയാളുടെ നേരെ നീട്ടാഞ്ഞാല് ആയാളെ കൊല്ലേണമെന്നു ഒരു നിയമം ഉള്ളപ്രകാരം രാജാവിന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരും രാജാവിന്റെ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലെ ജനവും അറിയുന്നു; എന്നാല് എന്നെ ഈ മുപ്പതു ദിവസത്തിന്നകത്തു രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുവാന് വിളിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

11. Mordecai, all the king's leaders, and all the people of the king's provinces know this: The king has one law for any man or woman who goes to the king without being called. That person must be put to death unless the king holds out his gold scepter to the person. If the king does this, that person's life will be saved. And I have not been called to go see the king for 30 days.'

12. അവര് എസ്ഥേരിന്റെ വാക്കു മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

12. Then Esther's message was given to Mordecai. When he got her message, Mordecai sent his answer back: 'Esther, don't think that just because you live in the king's palace you will be the only Jew to escape.

13. മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി എസ്ഥേരിനോടു മറുപടി പറവാന് കല്പിച്ചതുനീ രാജധാനിയില് ഇരിക്കയാല് എല്ലായെഹൂദന്മാരിലുംവെച്ചു രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടുകൊള്ളാമെന്നു നീ വിചാരിക്കേണ്ടാ.

14. നീ ഈ സമയത്തു മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നാല് യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും മറ്റൊരു സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു ഉദ്ധാരണവും രക്ഷയും ഉണ്ടാകും; എന്നാല് നീയും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനവും നശിച്ചുപോകും; ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളോരു കാലത്തിന്നായിട്ടല്ലയോ നീ രാജസ്ഥാനത്തു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു? ആര്ക്കും അറിയാം?

14. If you keep quiet now, help and freedom for the Jews will come from another place. But you and your father's family will all die. And who knows, maybe you have been chosen to be the queen for such a time as this.'

15. അതിന്നു എസ്ഥേര് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയോടു മറുപടി പറവാന് കല്പിച്ചതു.

15. Then Esther sent this answer to Mordecai: 'Mordecai, go and get all the Jews in Susa together, and fast for me. Don't eat or drink for three days and nights. I and my women servants will fast too. After we fast, I will go to the king. I know it is against the law to go to the king if he didn't call me, but I will do it anyway. If I die, I die.'

16. നീ ചെന്നു ശൂശനില് ഉള്ള എല്ലായെഹൂദന്മാരെയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടിനിങ്ങള് മൂന്നു ദിവസം രാവും പകലും തിന്നുകയോ കുടിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാതെ എനിക്കു വേണ്ടി ഉപവസിപ്പിന് ; ഞാനും എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ഉപവസിക്കും; പിന്നെ ഞാന് നിയമപ്രകാരമല്ലെങ്കിലും രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലും; ഞാന് നശിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നശിക്കട്ടെ.

17. അങ്ങനെ മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി ചെന്നു എസ്ഥേര് കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.

17. So Mordecai went away and did everything Esther told him to do.
