1. അതിന്നു നയമാത്യനായ സോഫര് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,

2. ഉത്തരം പറവാന് എന്റെ നിരൂപണങ്ങള് പൊങ്ങിവരുന്നു. എന്റെ ഉള്ളിലെ തത്രപ്പാടു ഹേതുവായിട്ടു തന്നേ.

2. 'My troubled thoughts make me answer, because I have no rest inside.

3. എനിക്കു ലജ്ജാകരമായ ശാസന ഞാന് കേട്ടു; എന്നാല് ആത്മാവു എന്റെ വിവേകത്തില് നിന്നു ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നു.

3. I heard the strong words that take away my honor. The spirit of my understanding makes me answer.

4. മനുഷ്യന് ഭൂമിയില് ഉണ്ടായതുമുതല് പുരാതനമായ വസ്തുത നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

4. Do you not know from long ago, since man was put on earth,

5. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ജയഘോഷം താല്ക്കാലികമത്രെ; വഷളന്റെ സന്തോഷം ക്ഷണനേരത്തേക്കേയുള്ളു.

5. that the honor of the sinful is short, and the joy of the sinful lasts only a short time?

6. അവന്റെ മഹിമ ആകാശത്തോളം ഉയര്ന്നാലും അവന്റെ തല മേഘങ്ങളോളം എത്തിയാലും

6. Even if his pride is as high as the heavens and his head touches the clouds,

7. അവന് സ്വന്തമലംപോലെ എന്നേക്കും നശിക്കും; അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളവര് അവന് എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിക്കും.

7. he will be gone forever, like his own waste. Those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'

8. അവന് സ്വപ്നംപോലെ പറന്നുപോകും. അവനെ പിന്നെ കാണുകയില്ല; അവന് രാത്രിദര്ശനംപോലെ പാറിപ്പോകും.

8. He will fly away like a dream, and not be found. He will be driven away like a dream of the night.

9. അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള കണ്ണു ഇനി അവനെ കാണുകയില്ല; അവന്റെ ഇടം ഇനി അവനെ ദര്ശിക്കയുമില്ല.

9. The eye which saw him will see him no more. His place will no longer see him.

10. അവന്റെ മക്കള് ദരിദ്രന്മാരോടു കൃപ യാചിക്കും; അവന്റെ കൈ തന്നേ അവന്റെ സമ്പത്തു മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കും.

10. His sons will look for the favor of the poor. And his hands will give back his riches.

11. അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളില് യൌവനം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവ അവനോടുകൂടെ പൊടിയില് കിടക്കും.

11. His bones are full of the strength of the young, but it will lie down with him in the dust.

12. ദുഷ്ടത അവന്റെ വായില് മധുരിച്ചാലും അവന് അതു നാവിന് കീഴെ മറെച്ചുവെച്ചാലും

12. 'Sin is sweet in his mouth. He hides it under his tongue.

13. അതിനെ വിടാതെ പിടിച്ചു വായ്ക്കകത്തു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെച്ചാലും

13. He hates to let it go, and holds it in his mouth.

14. അവന്റെ ആഹാരം അവന്റെ കുടലില് പരിണമിച്ചു അവന്റെ ഉള്ളില് സര്പ്പവിഷമായിത്തീരും.

14. Yet his food in his stomach is changed to the poison of snakes inside him.

15. അവന് സമ്പത്തു വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അതു വീണ്ടും ഛര്ദ്ദിക്കേണ്ടിവരും; ദൈവം അതു അവന്റെ വയറ്റില്നിന്നു പുറത്താക്കിക്കളയും.

15. He eats riches, but will spit them up. God will take them out of his stomach.

16. അവന് സര്പ്പവിഷം നുകരും; അണലിയുടെ നാവു അവനെ കൊല്ലും.

16. He will drink the poison of snakes. The snake's tongue will kill him.

17. തേനും പാല്പാടയും ഒഴുകുന്ന തോടുകളെയും നദികളെയും അവന് കണ്ടു രസിക്കയില്ല.

17. He will not look at the rivers, the rivers flowing with honey and milk.

18. തന്റെ സമ്പാദ്യം അവന് അനുഭവിക്കാതെ മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കും; താന് നേടിയ വസ്തുവകെക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം സന്തോഷിക്കയുമില്ല.

18. He must return what he has worked for, and can not eat it. He will not have joy from the riches of his trading.

19. അവന് ദരിദ്രന്മാരെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചുപേക്ഷിച്ചു; താന് പണിയാത്ത വീടു അപഹരിച്ചു.

19. For he has taken from the poor and left them with nothing. He has taken houses which he has not built.

20. അവന്റെ കൊതിക്കു പതംവരായ്കയാല് അവന് തന്റെ മനോഹരധനത്തോടുകൂടെ രക്ഷപ്പെടുകയില്ല.

20. 'Because he thought he never had enough, he has nothing that gives him joy.

21. അവന് തിന്നുകളയാതെ ഒന്നും ശേഷിപ്പിക്കയില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ അഭിവൃദ്ധി നിലനില്ക്കയില്ല.

21. There was nothing more for him to get, so his having everything will not last.

22. അവന്റെ സമൃദ്ധിയുടെ പൂര്ണ്ണതയില് അവന്നു ഞെരുക്കം ഉണ്ടാകും; അരിഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കൈ ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ മേല് വരും.

22. Even when he has many riches, he will have trouble. Everyone who suffers will come against him.

23. അവന് വയറു നിറെക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ ദൈവം തന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം അവന്റെ മേല് അയക്കും; അവന് ഭക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോള് അതു അവന്റെ മേല് വര്ഷിപ്പിക്കും.

23. When he fills his stomach, God will send His great anger on him. He will send it on him while he is eating.

24. അവന് ഇരിമ്പായുധം ഒഴിഞ്ഞോടും; താമ്രചാപം അവനില് അസ്ത്രം തറെപ്പിക്കും.

24. He may get away from the iron sword, but the brass bow will shoot an arrow in him.

25. അവന് പറിച്ചിട്ടു അതു അവന്റെ ദേഹത്തില്നിന്നു പുറത്തുവരുന്നു. മിന്നുന്ന മുന അവന്റെ പിത്തത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുന്നു; ഘോരത്വങ്ങള് അവന്റെമേല് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

25. It cuts through his body and comes out of his back. The shining arrow comes out of his liver. Much fear comes upon him.

26. അന്ധകാരമൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ നിക്ഷേപമായി സംഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ആരും ഊതാത്ത തീക്കു അവന് ഇരയാകും; അവന്റെ കൂടാരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതിനെ അതു ദഹിപ്പിക്കും;

26. Complete darkness is stored up for his riches. A fire not kept going by man will burn him up. It will destroy all that is left in his tent.

27. ആകാശം അവന്റെ അകൃത്യത്തെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തും ഭൂമി അവനോടു എതിര്ത്തുനിലക്കും.

27. The heavens will make his sin known, and the earth will rise up against him.

28. അവന്റെ വീട്ടിലെ വരവു പോയ്പോകും; അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ ദിവസത്തില് അതു ഒഴുകിപ്പോകും.

28. The things of his house will be carried away. They will be taken away in the day of God's anger.

29. ഇതു ദുഷ്ടന്നു ദൈവം കൊടുക്കുന്ന ഔഹരിയും ദൈവം അവന്നു നിയമിച്ച അവകാശവും ആകുന്നു.

29. This is what God has for sinful men. It is what God chooses to give to them.'
