1. അയ്യോ, ജനപൂര്ണ്ണയായിരുന്ന നഗരം ഏകാന്തയായിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ? ജാതികളില് മഹതിയായിരുന്നവള് വിധവയെപ്പോലെ ആയതെങ്ങനെ? സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ നായകിയായിരുന്നവള് ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരത്തിയായതെങ്ങനെ?

1. Jerusalem, once so crowded, lies deserted and lonely. This city that was known all over the world is now like a widow. This queen of the nations has been made a slave.

2. രാത്രിയില് അവള് കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. അവളുടെ കവിള്ത്തടങ്ങളില് കണ്ണുനീര് കാണുന്നു; അവളുടെ സകലപ്രിയന്മാരിലും അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാന് ആരുമില്ല; അവളുടെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരൊക്കെയും അവള്ക്കു ശത്രുക്കളായി ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. Each night, bitter tears flood her cheeks. None of her former lovers are there to offer comfort; her friends have betrayed her and are now her enemies.

3. കഷ്ടതയും കഠിനദാസ്യവുംനിമിത്തം യെഹൂദാ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു; അവള് ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; വിശ്രാമം കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതുമില്ല; അവളെ പിന്തുടരുന്നവരൊക്കെയും ഇടുക്കിടങ്ങളില്വെച്ചു അവളെ എത്തിപ്പിടിക്കുന്നു.

3. The people of Judah are slaves, suffering in a foreign land, with no rest from sorrow. Their enemies captured them and were terribly cruel.

4. ഉത്സവത്തിന്നു ആരും വരായ്കകൊണ്ടു സീയോനിലേക്കുള്ള വഴികള് ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ വാതിലുകളൊക്കെയും ശൂന്യമായി. പുരോഹിതന്മാര് നെടുവീര്പ്പിടുന്നു; അവളുടെ കന്യകമാര് ഖേദിക്കുന്നു; അവള്ക്കും വ്യസനം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. The roads to Zion mourn because no one travels there to celebrate the festivals. The city gates are deserted; priests are weeping. Young women are raped; Zion is in sorrow!

5. അവളുടെ അതിക്രമബാഹുല്യംനിമിത്തം യഹോവ അവള്ക്കു സങ്കടം വരുത്തിയതിനാല് അവളുടെ വൈരികള്ക്കു പ്രാധാന്യം ലഭിച്ചു, അവളുടെ ശത്രുക്കള് ശുഭമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള് വൈരിയുടെ മുമ്പായി പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.

5. Enemies now rule the city and live as they please. The LORD has punished Jerusalem because of her awful sins; he has let her people be dragged away.

6. സീയോന് പുത്രിയുടെ മഹത്വമൊക്കെയും അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി; അവളുടെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് മേച്ചല് കാണാത്ത മാനുകളെപ്പോലെ ആയി; പിന്തുടരുന്നവന്റെ മുമ്പില് അവര് ശക്തിയില്ലാതെ നടക്കുന്നു.

6. Zion's glory has disappeared. Her leaders are like deer that cannot find pasture; they are hunted down till their strength is gone.

7. കഷ്ടാരിഷ്ടതകളുടെ കാലത്തു യെരൂശലേം പണ്ടത്തെ മനോഹരവസ്തുക്കളെയൊക്കെയും ഔര്ക്കുംന്നു; സഹായിപ്പാന് ആരുമില്ലാതെ അവളുടെ ജനം വൈരിയുടെ കയ്യില് അകപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള്, വൈരികള് അവളെ നോക്കി അവളുടെ നാശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ചിരിച്ചു.

7. Her people recall the good life that once was theirs; now they suffer and are scattered. No one was there to protect them from their enemies who sneered when their city was taken.

8. യെരൂശലേം കഠിനപാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു മലിനയായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചവരൊക്കെയും അവളുടെ നഗ്നത കണ്ടിട്ടു അവളെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു; അവളോ നെടുവീര്പ്പിട്ടുകൊണ്ടു പിന്നോക്കം തിരിയുന്നു.

8. Jerusalem's horrible sins have made the city a joke. Those who once admired her now hate her instead-- she has been disgraced; she groans and turns away.

9. അവളുടെ മലിനത ഉടുപ്പിന്റെ വിളുമ്പില് കാണുന്നു; അവള് ഭാവികാലം ഔര്ത്തില്ല; അവള് അതിശയമാംവണ്ണം വീണുപോയി; അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാന് ആരുമില്ല; യഹോവേ, ശത്രു വമ്പു പറയുന്നു; എന്റെ സങ്കടം നോക്കേണമേ.

9. Her sins had made her filthy, but she wasn't worried about what could happen. And when Jerusalem fell, it was so tragic. No one gave her comfort when she cried out, 'Help! I'm in trouble, LORD! The enemy has won.'

10. അവളുടെ സകലമനോഹരവസ്തുക്കളിന്മേലും വൈരി കൈവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ സഭയില് പ്രവേശിക്കരുതെന്നു നീ കല്പിച്ച ജാതികള് അവളുടെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തില് കടന്നതു അവള് കണ്ടുവല്ലോ.

10. Zion's treasures were stolen. Jerusalem saw foreigners enter her place of worship, though the LORD had forbidden them to belong to his people.

11. അവളുടെ സര്വ്വജനവും നെടുവീര്പ്പിട്ടുകൊണ്ടു ആഹാരം തിരയുന്നു; വിശപ്പടക്കുവാന് ആഹാരത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ മനോഹര വസ്തുക്കളെ കൊടുത്തുകളയുന്നു; യഹോവേ, ഞാന് നിന്ദിതയായിരിക്കുന്നതു കടാക്ഷിക്കേണമേ.

11. Everyone in the city groans while searching for food; they trade their valuables for barely enough scraps to stay alive. Jerusalem shouts to the LORD, 'Please look and see how miserable I am!'

12. കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഏവരുമായുള്ളോരേ, ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഏതുമില്ലയോ? യഹോവ തന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപദിവസത്തില് ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന എനിക്കു അവന് വരുത്തിയ വ്യസനം പോലെ ഒരു വ്യസനം ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു നോക്കുവിന് !

12. No passerby even cares. Why doesn't someone notice my terrible sufferings? You were fiercely angry, LORD, and you punished me worst of all.

13. ഉയരത്തില്നിന്നു അവന് എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളില് തീ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു കടന്നുപിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കാലിന്നു അവന് വല വിരിച്ചു, എന്നെ മടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവന് എന്നെ ശൂന്യയും നിത്യരോഗിണിയും ആക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. From heaven you sent a fire that burned in my bones; you set a trap for my feet and made me turn back. All day long you leave me in shock from constant pain.

14. You have tied my sins around my neck, and they weigh so heavily that my strength is gone. You have put me in the power of enemies too strong for me.

15. You, LORD, have turned back my warriors and crushed my young heroes. Judah was a woman untouched, but you let her be trampled like grapes in a wine pit.

16. ഇതുനിമിത്തം ഞാന് കരയുന്നു; എന്റെ കണ്ണു കണ്ണുനീരൊഴുക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ തണുപ്പിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന ആശ്വാസപ്രദന് എന്നോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ശത്രു പ്രബലനായിരിക്കയാല് എന്റെ മക്കള് നശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. Because of this, I mourn, and tears flood my eyes. No one is here to comfort or to encourage me; we have lost the war-- my people are suffering.

17. സീയോന് കൈ മലര്ത്തുന്നു; അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാന് ആരുമില്ല; യഹോവ യാക്കോബിന്നു അവന്റെ ചുറ്റും വൈരികളെ കല്പിച്ചാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; യെരൂശലേം അവരുടെ ഇടയില് മലിനയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. Zion reaches out her hands, but no one offers comfort. The LORD has turned the neighboring nations against Jacob's descendants. Jerusalem is merely a filthy rag to her neighbors.

18. യഹോവ നീതിമാന് ; ഞാന് അവന്റെ കല്പനയോടു മത്സരിച്ചു; സകലജാതികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, കേള്ക്കേണമേ, എന്റെ വ്യസനം കാണേണമേ; എന്റെ കന്യകമാരും യൌവനക്കാരും പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. The LORD was right, but I refused to obey him. Now I ask all of you to look at my sufferings-- even my young people have been dragged away.

19. ഞാന് എന്റെ പ്രിയന്മാരെ വിളിച്ചു; അവരോ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു; എന്റെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും വിശപ്പടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആഹാരം തിരഞ്ഞുനടക്കുമ്പോള് നഗരത്തില് വെച്ചു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.

19. I called out to my lovers, but they betrayed me. My priests and my leaders died while searching the city for scraps of food.

20. യഹോവേ, നോക്കേണമേ; ഞാന് വിഷമത്തിലായി എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കലങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് കഠിനമായി മത്സരിക്കകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ ഹൃദയം എന്റെ ഉള്ളില് മറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; പുറമേ വാള് സന്തതിനാശം വരുത്തുന്നു; വീട്ടിലോ മരണം തന്നേ.

20. Won't you look and see how upset I am, our LORD? My stomach is in knots, and my heart is broken because I betrayed you. In the streets and at home, my people are slaughtered.

21. ഞാന് നെടുവീര്പ്പിടുന്നതു അവര് കേട്ടു; എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാന് ആരുമില്ല; എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളൊക്കെയും എന്റെ അനര്ത്ഥം കേട്ടു, നീ അതു വരുത്തിയതുകൊണ്ടു സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; നീ കല്പിച്ച ദിവസം നീ വരുത്തും; അന്നു അവരും എന്നെപ്പോലെയാകും.

21. Everyone heard my groaning, but no one offered comfort. My enemies know of the trouble that you have brought on me, and it makes them glad. Hurry and punish them, as you have promised.

22. അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടതയൊക്കെയും തിരുമുമ്പില് വരട്ടെ; എന്റെ സകല അതിക്രമങ്ങളും നിമിത്തം നീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവരോടും ചെയ്യേണമേ; എന്റെ നെടുവിര്പ്പു വളരെയല്ലോ; എന്റെ ഹൃദയം രോഗാര്ത്തമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. Don't let their evil deeds escape your sight. Punish them as much as you have punished me because of my sins. I never stop groaning-- I've lost all hope!
