1. പരീശപ്രമാണികളില് ഒരുത്തന്റെ വീട്ടില് അവന് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പാന് ശബ്ബത്തില് ചെന്നപ്പോള് അവര് അവനെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

1. One [Shabbat] Yeshua went to eat in the home of one of the leading [P'rushim], and they were watching him closely.

2. മഹോദരമുള്ളോരു മനുഷ്യന് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

2. In front of him was a man whose body was swollen with fluid.

3. യേശു ന്യായശാസ്ത്രിമാരോടും പരീശന്മാരോടുംശബ്ബത്തില് സൌഖ്യമാക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവരോ മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു.

3. Yeshua spoke up and asked the [Torah] experts and [P'rushim], 'Does the [Torah] allow healing on [Shabbat] or not?'

4. അവന് അവനെ തൊട്ടു സൌഖ്യമാക്കി വിട്ടയച്ചു.

4. But they said nothing. So, taking hold of him, he healed him and sent him away.

5. പിന്നെ അവരോടുനിങ്ങളില് ഒരുത്തന്റെ മകനോ കാളയോ ശബ്ബത്തു നാളില് കിണറ്റില് വീണാല് ക്ഷണത്തില്

5. To them he said, 'Which of you, if a son or an ox falls into a well, will hesitate to haul him out on [Shabbat]?'

6. വലിച്ചെടുക്കയില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറവാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. And to these things they could give no answer.

7. ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവര് മുഖ്യാസനങ്ങളെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന് അവരോടു ഒരുപമ പറഞ്ഞു

7. When Yeshua noticed how the guests were choosing for themselves the best seats at the table, he told them this parable:

8. ഒരുത്തന് നിന്നെ കല്യാണത്തിന്നു വിളിച്ചാല് മുഖ്യാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കരുതു; പക്ഷെ നിന്നിലും മാനമേറിയവനെ അവന് വിളിച്ചിരിക്കാം.

8. 'When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, don't sit down in the best seat; because if there is someone more important than you who has been invited,

9. പിന്നെ നിന്നെയും അവനെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചവന് വന്നുഇവന്നു ഇടം കൊടുക്ക എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറയുമ്പോള് നീ നാണത്തോടെ ഒടുക്കത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തുപോയി ഇരിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

9. the person who invited both of you might come and say to you, 'Give this man your place.' Then you will be humiliated as you go to take the least important place.

10. നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചാല് ചെന്നു ഒടുക്കത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തു ഇരിക്ക; നിന്നെ ക്ഷണിച്ചവന് വരുമ്പോള് നിന്നോടുസ്നേഹിതാ, മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു ഇരിക്ക എന്നുപറവാന് ഇടവരട്ടെ; അപ്പോള് പന്തിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ മുമ്പില് നിനക്കു മാനം ഉണ്ടാകും.

10. Instead, when you are invited, go and sit in the least important place; so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, 'Go on up to a better seat.' Then you will be honored in front of everyone sitting with you.

11. തന്നെത്താന് ഉയര്ത്തുന്നവന് എല്ലാം താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും; തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തുന്നവന് ഉയര്ത്തപ്പെടും.

11. Because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.'

12. തന്നെ ക്ഷണിച്ചവനോടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുനീ ഒരു മുത്താഴമോ അത്താഴമോ കഴിക്കുമ്പോള് സ്നേഹിതന്മാരേയും സഹോരദരന്മാരെയും ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരെയും സമ്പത്തുള്ള അയല്ക്കാരെയും വിളിക്കരുതു; അവര് നിന്നെ അങ്ങോട്ടും വിളിച്ചിട്ടു നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ചെയ്യും.

12. Yeshua also said to the one who had invited him, 'When you give a lunch or a dinner, don't invite your friends, brothers, relatives or rich neighbors; for they may well invite you in return, and that will be your repayment.

13. നീ വിരുന്നു കഴിക്കുമ്പോള് ദരിദ്രന്മാര്, അംഗഹീനന്മാര് മുടന്തന്മാര്, കുരുടുന്മാര് എന്നിവരെ ക്ഷണിക്ക;

13. Instead, when you have a party, invite poor people, disfigured people, the crippled, the blind!

14. എന്നാല് നീ ഭാഗ്യവാനാകും; നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ചെയ്വാന് അവര്ക്കും വകയില്ലല്ലോ; നീതിമാന്മാരരുടെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തില് നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ഉണ്ടാകും.

14. How blessed you will be that they have nothing with which to repay you! For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.'

15. കൂടെ പന്തിയിരിരുന്നവരില് ഒരുത്തന് ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടുദൈവരാജ്യത്തില് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കുന്നവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു;

15. On hearing this, one of the people at the table with Yeshua said to him, 'How blessed are those who eat bread in the Kingdom of God!'

16. അവനോടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുഒരു മനുഷ്യന് വലിയോരു അത്താഴം ഒരുക്കി പലരെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചു.

16. But he replied, 'Once a man gave a banquet and invited many people.

17. അത്താഴസമയത്തു അവന് തന്റെ ദാസനെ അയച്ചു ആ ക്ഷണിച്ചവരോടുഎല്ലാം ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; വരുവിന് എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

17. When the time came for the banquet, he sent his slave to tell those who had been invited, 'Come! Everything is ready!'

18. എല്ലാവരും ഒരു പോലെ ഒഴികഴിവു പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി; ഒന്നാമത്തവന് അവനോടുഞാന് ഒരു നിലം കൊണ്ടതിനാല് അതു ചെന്നു കാണേണ്ടുന്ന ആവശ്യം ഉണ്ടു; എന്നോടു ക്ഷമിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു ഞാന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. But they responded with a chorus of excuses. The first said to him, 'I've just bought a field, and I have to go out and see it. Please accept my apologies.'

19. മറ്റൊരുത്തന് ഞാന് അഞ്ചേര്കാളയെ കൊണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; അവയെ ശോധന ചെയ്വാന് പോകുന്നു; എന്നോടു ക്ഷമിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു ഞാന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Another said, 'I've just bought five yoke of oxen, and I'm on my way to test them out. Please accept my apologies.'

20. വേറൊരുത്തന് ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള്വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; വരുവാന് കഴിവില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Still another said, 'I have just gotten married, so I can't come.'

21. ദാസന് മടങ്ങിവന്നു യജമാനനോടു അറിയിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് വീട്ടുടയവന് കോപിച്ചു ദാസനോടുനീ വേഗം പട്ടണത്തിലെ വീഥികളിലും ഇടത്തെരുക്കളിലും ചെന്നു ദരിദ്രന്മാര്, അംഗഹീനന്മാര്, കുരുടന്മാര്, മുടന്തന്മാര്, എന്നിവരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

21. The slave came and reported these things to his master. 'Then the owner of the house, in a rage, told his slave, 'Quick, go out into the streets and alleys of the city; and bring in the poor, the disfigured, the blind and the crippled!'

22. പിന്നെ ദാസന് യജമാനനേ, കല്പിച്ചതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനിയും സ്ഥലം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. The slave said, 'Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.'

23. യജമാനന് ദാസനോടുനീ പെരുവഴികളിലും വേലികള്ക്കരികെയും പോയി, എന്റെ വീടുനിറയേണ്ടതിന്നു കണ്ടവരെ അകത്തുവരുവാന് നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിക്ക.

23. The master said to the slave, 'Go out to the country roads and boundary walls, and insistently persuade people to come in, so that my house will be full.

24. ആ ക്ഷണിച്ച പുരുഷന്മാര് ആരും എന്റെ അത്താഴം ആസ്വദിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet!''

25. ഏറിയ പുരുഷാരം അവനോടുകൂടെ പോകുമ്പോള് അവന് തിരിഞ്ഞു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു

25. Large crowds were traveling along with Yeshua. Turning, he said to them,

26. എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരികയും അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ഭാര്യയെയും മക്കളെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും സഹോദരികളെയും സ്വന്തജീവനെയും കൂടെ പകെക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.
ആവർത്തനം 33:9

26. 'If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father, his mother, his wife, his children, his brothers and his sisters, yes, and his own life besides, he cannot be my [talmid].

27. തന്റെ ക്രൂശു എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരാത്തവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴിയില്ല.

27. Whoever does not carry his own execution-stake and come after me cannot be my [talmid].

28. നിങ്ങളില് ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു ഗോപുരം പണിവാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചാല് ആദ്യം ഇരുന്നു അതു തീര്പ്പാന് വക ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു കണകൂ നോക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

28. Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Don't you sit down and estimate the cost, to see if you have enough capital to complete it?

29. അല്ലെങ്കില് അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇട്ടശേഷം തീര്പ്പാന് വകയില്ല എന്നു വന്നേക്കാം;

29. If you don't, then when you have laid the foundation but can't finish, all the onlookers start making fun of you

30. കാണുന്നവര് എല്ലാം; ഈ മനുഷ്യര് പണിവാന് തുടങ്ങി, തീര്പ്പാനോ വകയില്ല എന്നു പരിഹസിക്കുമല്ലോ.

30. and say, 'This is the man who began to build, but couldn't finish!'

31. അല്ല, ഒരു രാജാവു മറ്റൊരു രാജാവിനോടു പട ഏല്പാന് പുറപ്പെടുംമുമ്പേ ഇരുന്നു, ഇരുപതിനായിരവുമായി വരുന്നവനോടു താന് പതിനായിരവുമായി എതിര്പ്പാന് മതിയോ എന്നു ആലോചിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

31. 'Or again, suppose one king is going out to wage war with another king. Doesn't he first sit down and consider whether he, with his ten thousand troops, has enough strength to meet the other one, who is coming against him with twenty thousand?

32. പോരാ എന്നു വരികില് മറ്റവന് ദൂരത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ സ്ഥാനാപതികളെ അയച്ചു സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

32. If he hasn't, then while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation to inquire about terms for peace.

33. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ നിങ്ങളില് ആരെങ്കിലും തനിക്കുള്ളതു ഒക്കെയും വിട്ടുപിരിയുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് അവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.

33. 'So every one of you who doesn't renounce all that he has cannot be my [talmid].

34. ഉപ്പു നല്ലതു തന്നേ; ഉപ്പു കാരമില്ലാതെ പോയാല് എന്തൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു അതിന്നു രസം വരുത്തും?

34. Salt is excellent. But if even the salt becomes tasteless, what can be used to season it?

35. പിന്നെ നിലത്തിന്നും വളത്തിന്നും കൊള്ളുന്നതല്ല; അതിനെ പുറത്തു കളയും. കേള്പ്പാന് ചെവി ഉള്ളവന് കേള്ക്കട്ടെ

35. It is fit for neither soil nor manure- people throw it out. Those who have ears that can hear, let them hear!'
