1. അനന്തരം പീലാത്തൊസ് യേശുവിനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി വാറുകൊണ്ടു അടിപ്പിച്ചു.

1. Then Pilate toke Iesus, and scourged him.

2. പടയാളികള് മുള്ളുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ തലയില് വെച്ചു ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രം ധിരിപ്പിച്ചു.

2. And the soudyers platted a crowne of thornes, and set it vpon his heade, and put a purple garment vpon him,

3. അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുയെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ കന്നത്തടിച്ചു.

3. and sayde: Hayle kynge of the Iewes. And they smote him on the face.

4. പീലാത്തൊസ് പിന്നെയും പുറത്തു വന്നുഞാന് അവനില് ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇതാ, പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Then wente Pilate forth agayne, and sayde vnto the: Beholde, I brynge him forth vnto you, yt ye maye knowe, yt I fynde no faute in hi.

5. അങ്ങനെ യേശു മുള്ക്കിരീടവും ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രവും ധരിച്ചു പുറത്തു വന്നു. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടുആ മനുഷ്യന് ഇതാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. So Iesus wente out, & ware a crowne of thorne and a purple robe. And he sayde vnto them: Beholde, the man.

6. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ചേവകരും അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്ക്രൂശിക്ക, ക്രൂശിക്ക, എന്നു ആര്ത്തുവിളിച്ചു. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ക്രൂശിപ്പിന് ഞാനോ അവനില് കുറ്റം കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Whan the hye prestes & the mynisters sawe him, they cryed, & sayde: Crucifye, crucifye. Pilate saide vnto the: Take ye him, and crucifye him, for I fynde no giltynesse in him.

7. യെഹൂദന്മാര് അവനോടുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഉണ്ടു; അവന് തന്നെത്താന് ദൈവപുത്രന് ആക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു ആ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം അവന് മരിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

7. The Iewes answered him: We haue a lawe, & after oure lawe he ought to dye, because he made him self the sonne of God.

8. ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു പീലാത്തൊസ് ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു,

8. Whan Pilate herde that worde, he was the more afrayed,

9. പിന്നെയും ആസ്ഥാനത്തില് ചെന്നു; നീ എവിടെ നിന്നു ആകുന്നു എന്നു യേശുവിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

9. and wente agayne in to the comon hall, and sayde vnto Iesus: Whence art thou? But Iesus gaue him no answere.

10. യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടുനീ എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? എനിക്കു നിന്നെ ക്രൂശിപ്പാന് അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്നും, നിന്നെ വിട്ടയപ്പാന് അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു യേശു അവനോടു

10. The sayde Pilate vnto him: Speakest thou not vnto me? Knowest thou not, yt I haue power to crucifye ye, & haue power to lowse ye?

11. മേലില്നിന്നു നിനക്കു കിട്ടീട്ടില്ല എങ്കില് എന്റെ മേല് നിനക്കു ഒരധികാരവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ലായിരുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ നിന്റെ പക്കല് ഏല്പിച്ചവന്നു അധികം പാപം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Iesus answered: Thou shuldest haue no power vpo me, yf it were not geue the from aboue. Therfore he that delyuered me vnto ye, hath the more synne.

12. ഇതു നിമിത്തം പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനെ വിട്ടയപ്പാന് ശ്രമിച്ചു. യഹൂദന്മാരോനീ ഇവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചാല് കൈസരുടെ സ്നേഹിതന് അല്ല; തന്നെത്താന് രാജാവാക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം കൈസരോടു മത്സരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു ആര്ത്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. From that tyme forth Pilate sought meanes to lowse him. But the Iewes cryed, & sayde: Yf thou let him go, thou art not the Emperours frede. For whosoeuer maketh himself kynge, is agaynst the Emperoure.

13. ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു പീലാത്തൊസ് യേശുവിനെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, കല്ത്തളമെന്നും എബ്രായ ഭാഷയില് ഗബ്ബഥാ എന്നും പേരുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു ന്യായാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു.

13. Whan Pilate herde yt worde, he brought Iesus forth, & sat hi downe vpo ye iugdmet seate, in the place which is called the Pauement, but in the Hebrue, Gabbatha.

14. അപ്പോള് പെസഹയുടെ ഒരുക്കനാള് ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു. അവന് യെഹൂദന്മാരോടു ഇതാ നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. It was the daye of preparinge of the Easter aboute the sixte houre. And he sayde vnto the Iewes: Beholde yor kynge.

15. അവരോകൊന്നുകളക, കൊന്നുകളക; അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു. നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനെ ഞാന് ക്രൂശിക്കേണമോ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര്ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു കൈസരല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു രാജാവില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

15. But they cryed: Awaye wt him, awaye wt him, crucifie him. Pilate saide vnto the: Shal I crucifye yor kynge? The hye prestes answered: We haue no kynge but ye Emperor.

16. അപ്പോള് അവന് അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര്ക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

16. The delyuered he him vnto them, to be crucifyed.They toke Iesus, and led him awaye.

17. അവര് യേശുവിനെ കയ്യേറ്റു; അവന് താന് തന്നേ ക്രൂശിനെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു എബ്രായഭാഷയില് ഗൊല്ഗൊഥാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള തലയോടിടം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി.

17. And he bare his crosse, and wente out to the place called ye place of deed men skulles, which in Hebrue is named Golgatha,

18. അവിടെ അവര് അവനെയും അവനോടു കൂടെ വേറെ രണ്ടു ആളുകളെയും ഒരുത്തനെ അപ്പുറത്തും ഒരുത്തനെ ഇപ്പുറത്തും യേശുവിനെ നടവിലുമായി ക്രൂശിച്ചു.

18. where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either syde one, but Iesus in the myddes

19. പീലാത്തൊസ് ഒരു മേലെഴുത്തും എഴുതി ക്രൂശിന്മേല് പതിപ്പിച്ചു; അതില്നസറായനായ യേശു യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

19. Pilate wrote a superscripcion, and set vpon the crosse. And there was wrytten: Iesus of Nazareth, kynge of the Iewes.

20. യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലം നഗരത്തിന്നു സമീപം ആകയാല് അനേകം യെഹൂദന്മാര് ഈ മേലെഴുത്തു വായിച്ചു. അതു എബ്രായറോമ യവന ഭാഷകളില് എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

20. This superscripcion red many of the Iewes. For ye place where Iesus was crucifyed, was nye vnto the cite. And it was wrytten in Hebrue, Greke & Latyn.

21. ആകയാല് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര് പീലാത്തൊസിനോടുയെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നല്ല, ഞാന് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു എന്നത്രേ എഴുതേണ്ടതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. Then sayde the hye prestes of the Iewes vnto Pilate: Wryte not kynge of the Iewes, but yt he sayde, I am kynge of the Iewes.

22. അതിന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ്ഞാന് എഴുതിയതു എഴുതി എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Pilate answered: What I haue wrytten, that haue I wrytten.

23. പടയാളികള് യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച ശേഷം അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തു ഔരോ പടയാളിക്കു ഔരോ പങ്കായിട്ടു നാലു പങ്കാക്കി; അങ്കിയും എടുത്തു; അങ്കിയോ തുന്നല് ഇല്ലാതെ മേല്തൊട്ടു അടിയോളം മുഴുവനും നെയ്തതായിരുന്നു.

23. The sondyers, whan they had crucifyed Iesus, toke his garmentes, and made foure partes, to euery soudyer one patte, and the cote also. As for the cote, it was vnsowed fro aboue, wrought thorow and thorow.

24. ഇതു കീറരുതു; ആര്ക്കും വരും എന്നു ചീട്ടിടുക എന്നു അവര് തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു. എന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവര് പകുത്തെടുത്തു എന്റെ അങ്കിക്കായി ചീട്ടിട്ടു എന്നുള്ളതിരുവെഴുത്തിന്നു ഇതിനാല് നിവൃത്തി വന്നു. പടയാളികള് ഇങ്ങനെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.

24. Then sayde they one to another: Let vs not deuyde it, but cast lottes for it, who shal haue it, that the scripture might be fulfilled, which sayeth: They haue parted my garmentes amonge them, and on my cote haue they cast lottes. This dyd the soudyers in dede.

25. There stode by the crosse of Iesus, his mother, and his mothers sister Mary, the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

26. യേശു തന്റെ അമ്മയും താന് സ്നേഹിച്ച ശിഷ്യനും നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടുസ്ത്രീയേ, ഇതാ നിന്റെ മകന് എന്നു അമ്മയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Now whan Iesus sawe his mother, and the disciple stondynge by, who he loued, he sayde vnto his mother: Woman, beholde, that is thy sonne.

27. പിന്നെ ശിഷ്യനോടുഇതാ നിന്റെ അമ്മ എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു. ആ നാഴികമുതല് ആ ശിഷ്യന് അവളെ തന്റെ വീട്ടില് കൈക്കൊണ്ടു.

27. Then sayde he to the disciple: beholde, that is thy mother. And from that houre the disciple toke her vnto him.

28. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സകലവും തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിവൃത്തിയാകുംവണ്ണംഎനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. After that whan Iesus knewe that all was perfourmed, that the scripture might be fulfylled, he sayde: I am a thyrst.

29. There stode a vessell full of vyneger. They fylled a sponge with vyneger and wonde it aboute with ysope, and helde it to his mouth.

30. യേശു പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു കുടിച്ചശേഷംനിവൃത്തിയായി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തല ചായ്ചു ആത്മാവിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

30. Now whan Iesus had receaued the vyneger, he sayde: It is fynished, and bowed his heade, and gaue vp the goost.

31. അന്നു ഒരുക്കനാളും ആ ശബ്ബത്ത് നാള് വലിയതും ആകകൊണ്ടു ശരീരങ്ങള് ശബ്ബത്തില് ക്രൂശിന്മേല് ഇരിക്കരുതു എന്നുവെച്ചു അവരുടെ കാല് ഒടിച്ചു എടുപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാര് പീലാത്തൊസിനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

31. The Iewes then, for so moch as it was the daye of preparinge, that ye bodies shulde not remayne vpon the crosse on the Sabbath, (for ye same Sabbath daye was greate) besought Pilate, that their legges might be broken, and that they might be taken downe.

32. ആകയാല് പടയാളികള് വന്നു ഒന്നാമത്തവന്റെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട മറ്റെവന്റെയും കാല് ഒടിച്ചു. അവര് യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു, അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു കാണ്കയാല് അവന്റെ കാല് ഒടിച്ചില്ല. എങ്കിലും പടയാളികളില് ഒരുത്തന് കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ വിലാപ്പുറത്തു കുത്തി; ഉടനെ രക്തവും വെള്ളവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

32. Then came the soudyers, and brake the legges of the first, and of the other that was crucifyed with him.

33. ഇതു കണ്ടവന് സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യം ആകുന്നു; നിങ്ങളും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു താന് സത്യം പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവന് അറിയുന്നു.

33. But whan they came to Iesus, and sawe that he was deed allready, they brake not his legges,

34. “അവന്റെ ഒരു അസ്ഥിയും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചു.

34. but one of the soudyers opened his syde with a speare. And immediatly there wente out bloude and water.

35. “അവര് കുത്തിയവങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കും” എന്നു മറ്റൊരു തിരുവെഴുത്തും പറയുന്നു.

35. And he that sawe it, bare recorde, and his recorde is true. And he knoweth that he sayeth true, that ye might beleue also.

36. അനന്തരം, യെഹൂദന്മാരെ പേടിച്ചിട്ടു രഹസ്യത്തില് യേശുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഷ്യനായിരുന്ന അരിമത്യയിലെ യോസേഫ് യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് പീലാത്തൊസിനോടു അനുവാദം ചോദിച്ചു. പീലാത്തൊസ് അനുവദിക്കയാല് അവന് വന്നു അവന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു.

36. For this is done, yt the scripture might be fulfylled: Ye shal not breake a bone of him.

37. ആദ്യം രാത്രിയില് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്ന നിക്കൊദേമൊസും ഏകദേശം നൂറുറാത്തല് മൂറും അകിലും കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഒരു കൂട്ടു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

37. And agayne, another scripture sayeth: They shal se him, whom they haue pearsed.

38. അവര് യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു യെഹൂദന്മാര് ശവം അടക്കുന്ന മര്യാദപ്രകാരം അതിനെ സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ശീലപൊതിഞ്ഞു കെട്ടി.

38. After that, Ioseph of Arimathia, which was a disciple of Iesus (but secretly for feare of the Iewes) besought Pilate, yt he might take downe the body of Iesus. And Pilate gaue him lycence.

39. അവനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തുതന്നേ ഒരു തോട്ടവും ആ തോട്ടത്തില് മുമ്പെ ആരെയും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത പുതിയോരു കല്ലറയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

39. There came also Nicodemus, (which afore came vnto Iesus by night) & brought of Myrre & Aloes mingled together, aboute an hudreth poude weight.

40. ആ കല്ലറ സമീപം ആകകൊണ്ടു അവര് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഒരുക്കനാള് നിമിത്തം യേശുവിനെ അവിടെ വച്ചു.

40. The toke they the body of Iesus, & wonde it with lynnen clothes, and with the spyces, as the maner of the Iewes is to burye.
