1. അനന്തരം പീലാത്തൊസ് യേശുവിനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി വാറുകൊണ്ടു അടിപ്പിച്ചു.

1. Then Pilate toke Iesus therfore, and scourged hym.

2. പടയാളികള് മുള്ളുകൊണ്ടു ഒരു കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ തലയില് വെച്ചു ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രം ധിരിപ്പിച്ചു.

2. And the souldiers wounde a crowne of thornes, and put it on his head: And they did on hym a purple garment,

3. അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുയെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ കന്നത്തടിച്ചു.

3. And sayde, Hayle king of the Iewes: And they stroke hym with roddes.

4. പീലാത്തൊസ് പിന്നെയും പുറത്തു വന്നുഞാന് അവനില് ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇതാ, പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Pilate went foorth agayne, and sayde vnto them: Beholde, I bryng hym foorth to you, that ye may knowe that I fynde no fault in hym.

5. അങ്ങനെ യേശു മുള്ക്കിരീടവും ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രവും ധരിച്ചു പുറത്തു വന്നു. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടുആ മനുഷ്യന് ഇതാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Then came Iesus foorth, wearyng a crowne of thorne, and a robe of purple: And he sayth vnto them, beholde the man.

6. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ചേവകരും അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്ക്രൂശിക്ക, ക്രൂശിക്ക, എന്നു ആര്ത്തുവിളിച്ചു. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ക്രൂശിപ്പിന് ഞാനോ അവനില് കുറ്റം കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. When the hye priestes therefore and officers sawe hym, they cryed, saying: crucifie hym, crucifie hym. Pilate sayth vnto them, Take ye hym, and crucifie hym: for I fynde no cause in hym.

7. യെഹൂദന്മാര് അവനോടുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഉണ്ടു; അവന് തന്നെത്താന് ദൈവപുത്രന് ആക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു ആ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം അവന് മരിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

7. The Iewes aunswered hym: We haue a lawe, and by our lawe he ought to dye, because he made hym selfe the sonne of God.

8. ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു പീലാത്തൊസ് ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു,

8. When Pilate hearde that saying, he was the more afrayde.

9. പിന്നെയും ആസ്ഥാനത്തില് ചെന്നു; നീ എവിടെ നിന്നു ആകുന്നു എന്നു യേശുവിനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

9. And went agayne into the iudgement hall, and sayth vnto Iesus, whence art thou? But Iesus gaue hym none aunswere.

10. യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടുനീ എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ? എനിക്കു നിന്നെ ക്രൂശിപ്പാന് അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്നും, നിന്നെ വിട്ടയപ്പാന് അധികാരമുണ്ടെന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു യേശു അവനോടു

10. Then sayde Pilate vnto hym: Speakest thou not vnto me? Knowest thou not that I haue power to crucifie thee, and haue power to loose thee?

11. മേലില്നിന്നു നിനക്കു കിട്ടീട്ടില്ല എങ്കില് എന്റെ മേല് നിനക്കു ഒരധികാരവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ലായിരുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ നിന്റെ പക്കല് ഏല്പിച്ചവന്നു അധികം പാപം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Iesus aunswered: Thou couldest haue no power at all agaynst me, except it were geuen thee from aboue: Therfore he that deliuered me vnto thee, hath the more sinne.

12. ഇതു നിമിത്തം പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനെ വിട്ടയപ്പാന് ശ്രമിച്ചു. യഹൂദന്മാരോനീ ഇവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചാല് കൈസരുടെ സ്നേഹിതന് അല്ല; തന്നെത്താന് രാജാവാക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം കൈസരോടു മത്സരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു ആര്ത്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And from thencefoorth sought Pilate [meanes] to loose hym. But the Iewes cryed, saying: Yf thou let hym go, thou art not Caesers friend. For whosoeuer maketh hym selfe a kyng, speaketh agaynst Caesar.

13. ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു പീലാത്തൊസ് യേശുവിനെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു, കല്ത്തളമെന്നും എബ്രായ ഭാഷയില് ഗബ്ബഥാ എന്നും പേരുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു ന്യായാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു.

13. When Pilate hearde that saying, he brought Iesus foorth, & he sate downe in the iudgement seate, in a place that is called the pauement, but in the Hebrue tounge, Gabbatha.

14. അപ്പോള് പെസഹയുടെ ഒരുക്കനാള് ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു. അവന് യെഹൂദന്മാരോടു ഇതാ നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. It was the preparyng of ye Passouer, and about the sixt houre: And he sayth vnto the Iewes, beholde your kyng.

15. അവരോകൊന്നുകളക, കൊന്നുകളക; അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു. നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനെ ഞാന് ക്രൂശിക്കേണമോ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര്ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു കൈസരല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു രാജാവില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

15. They cryed, away with hym, away with hym, crucifie hym. Pilate sayth vnto them: Shall I crucifie your king? The hye priestes aunswered: We haue no king but Caesar.

16. അപ്പോള് അവന് അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര്ക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

16. Then deliuered he hym vnto them, to be crucified. And they toke Iesus, & ledde hym away.

17. അവര് യേശുവിനെ കയ്യേറ്റു; അവന് താന് തന്നേ ക്രൂശിനെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു എബ്രായഭാഷയില് ഗൊല്ഗൊഥാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള തലയോടിടം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി.

17. And he bare his crosse, & wet forth into a place, which is called ye place of dead mens skulles, but in Hebrue Golgotha:

18. അവിടെ അവര് അവനെയും അവനോടു കൂടെ വേറെ രണ്ടു ആളുകളെയും ഒരുത്തനെ അപ്പുറത്തും ഒരുത്തനെ ഇപ്പുറത്തും യേശുവിനെ നടവിലുമായി ക്രൂശിച്ചു.

18. Where they crucified hym, and two other with him, on eyther syde one, and Iesus in the myddes.

19. പീലാത്തൊസ് ഒരു മേലെഴുത്തും എഴുതി ക്രൂശിന്മേല് പതിപ്പിച്ചു; അതില്നസറായനായ യേശു യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

19. And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the crosse. The wrytyng was: Iesus of Nazareth, kyng of the Iewes.

20. യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലം നഗരത്തിന്നു സമീപം ആകയാല് അനേകം യെഹൂദന്മാര് ഈ മേലെഴുത്തു വായിച്ചു. അതു എബ്രായറോമ യവന ഭാഷകളില് എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

20. This title read many of the Iewes: For the place where Iesus was crucified, was nye to ye citie. And it was written in Hebrue, and Greke, and Latine.

21. ആകയാല് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാര് പീലാത്തൊസിനോടുയെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നല്ല, ഞാന് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു എന്നത്രേ എഴുതേണ്ടതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. Then sayde the hye priestes of the Iewes to Pilate, Write not kyng of the Iewes: but, that he sayde, I am kyng of the Iewes.

22. അതിന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ്ഞാന് എഴുതിയതു എഴുതി എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Pilate aunswered: What I haue written, that haue I written.

23. പടയാളികള് യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച ശേഷം അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തു ഔരോ പടയാളിക്കു ഔരോ പങ്കായിട്ടു നാലു പങ്കാക്കി; അങ്കിയും എടുത്തു; അങ്കിയോ തുന്നല് ഇല്ലാതെ മേല്തൊട്ടു അടിയോളം മുഴുവനും നെയ്തതായിരുന്നു.

23. Then the souldiers, when they had crucified Iesus, toke his garmentes, (& made foure partes, to euery souldier a part) and also his coate. The coate was without seame, wouen from the toppe throughout.

24. ഇതു കീറരുതു; ആര്ക്കും വരും എന്നു ചീട്ടിടുക എന്നു അവര് തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു. എന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവര് പകുത്തെടുത്തു എന്റെ അങ്കിക്കായി ചീട്ടിട്ടു എന്നുള്ളതിരുവെഴുത്തിന്നു ഇതിനാല് നിവൃത്തി വന്നു. പടയാളികള് ഇങ്ങനെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.

24. They sayde therefore among them selues: Let vs not deuide it, but caste lottes for it, who shal haue it. That the scripture myght be fulfylled, saying: They parted my rayment among the, & for my coate dyd they cast lottes. And the souldiers dyd such thynges in deede.

25. യേശുവിന്റെ ക്രൂശിന്നരികെ അവന്റെ അമ്മയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരിയും ക്ളെയോപ്പാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യ മറിയയും മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും നിന്നിരുന്നു.

25. There stoode by the crosse of Iesus his mother, and his mothers sister, Marie the wyfe of Cleophas, and Marie Magdalene.

26. യേശു തന്റെ അമ്മയും താന് സ്നേഹിച്ച ശിഷ്യനും നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടുസ്ത്രീയേ, ഇതാ നിന്റെ മകന് എന്നു അമ്മയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Whe Iesus therfore sawe his mother and the disciple standyng by, whom he loued, he saith vnto his mother: Woman, beholde thy sonne.

27. പിന്നെ ശിഷ്യനോടുഇതാ നിന്റെ അമ്മ എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു. ആ നാഴികമുതല് ആ ശിഷ്യന് അവളെ തന്റെ വീട്ടില് കൈക്കൊണ്ടു.

27. Then sayde he to the disciple, beholde thy mother. And from that houre, the disciple toke her vnto his owne.

28. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സകലവും തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിവൃത്തിയാകുംവണ്ണംഎനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. After these thynges, Iesus knowyng that all thynges were nowe perfourmed, that the scripture might be fulfylled, he sayth, I thirste.

29. അവിടെ പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു നിറഞ്ഞോരു പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര് ഒരു സ്പോങ്ങ് പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു നിറെച്ചു ഈസോപ്പുതണ്ടിന്മേല് ആക്കി അവന്റെ വായോടു അടുപ്പിച്ചു.

29. So there stoode a vessell by, full of vineger: Therefore they fylled a sponge with vineger, and put it vpon Isope, & put it to his mouth.

30. യേശു പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു കുടിച്ചശേഷംനിവൃത്തിയായി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തല ചായ്ചു ആത്മാവിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

30. Assoone as Iesus then receaued of the vineger, he saide, it is finished: and bowed his head, and gaue vp the ghost.

31. അന്നു ഒരുക്കനാളും ആ ശബ്ബത്ത് നാള് വലിയതും ആകകൊണ്ടു ശരീരങ്ങള് ശബ്ബത്തില് ക്രൂശിന്മേല് ഇരിക്കരുതു എന്നുവെച്ചു അവരുടെ കാല് ഒടിച്ചു എടുപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാര് പീലാത്തൊസിനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

31. The Iewes therefore, because it was the preparyng [of the Sabboth] that the bodyes should not remaine vpo ye crosse on the Sabboth day (for that Sabboth day, was an hye day) besought Pilate that their legges myght be broken, and that they myght be taken downe.

32. ആകയാല് പടയാളികള് വന്നു ഒന്നാമത്തവന്റെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട മറ്റെവന്റെയും കാല് ഒടിച്ചു. അവര് യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു, അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു കാണ്കയാല് അവന്റെ കാല് ഒടിച്ചില്ല. എങ്കിലും പടയാളികളില് ഒരുത്തന് കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ വിലാപ്പുറത്തു കുത്തി; ഉടനെ രക്തവും വെള്ളവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

32. Then came the souldiers, and brake the legges of the first, and of the other which was crucified with hym:

33. ഇതു കണ്ടവന് സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യം ആകുന്നു; നിങ്ങളും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു താന് സത്യം പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവന് അറിയുന്നു.

33. But when they came to Iesus, & sawe that he was dead alredye, they brake not his legges.

34. “അവന്റെ ഒരു അസ്ഥിയും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചു.

34. But one of the souldyers with a speare thruste hym into the syde, & foorthwith came there out blood and water.

35. “അവര് കുത്തിയവങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കും” എന്നു മറ്റൊരു തിരുവെഴുത്തും പറയുന്നു.

35. And he that sawe it, bare recorde, and his recorde is true: & he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might beleue [also.]

36. അനന്തരം, യെഹൂദന്മാരെ പേടിച്ചിട്ടു രഹസ്യത്തില് യേശുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഷ്യനായിരുന്ന അരിമത്യയിലെ യോസേഫ് യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് പീലാത്തൊസിനോടു അനുവാദം ചോദിച്ചു. പീലാത്തൊസ് അനുവദിക്കയാല് അവന് വന്നു അവന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു.

36. For these thynges were done, that the scripture shoulde be fulfylled: Ye shall not breake a bone of hym.

37. ആദ്യം രാത്രിയില് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്ന നിക്കൊദേമൊസും ഏകദേശം നൂറുറാത്തല് മൂറും അകിലും കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഒരു കൂട്ടു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

37. And agayne another scripture saith: They shall loke on hym whom they pearsed.

38. അവര് യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം എടുത്തു യെഹൂദന്മാര് ശവം അടക്കുന്ന മര്യാദപ്രകാരം അതിനെ സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗത്തോടുകൂടെ ശീലപൊതിഞ്ഞു കെട്ടി.

38. After this, Ioseph of Aramathia, (which was a disciple of Iesus, but secretely, for feare of ye Iewes) besought Pilate that he myght take downe the body of Iesus. And Pilate gaue hym licence. He came therefore, and toke the dye of Iesus.

39. അവനെ ക്രൂശിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തുതന്നേ ഒരു തോട്ടവും ആ തോട്ടത്തില് മുമ്പെ ആരെയും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത പുതിയോരു കല്ലറയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

39. And there came also Nicodemus (whiche at the begynnyng came to Iesus by nyght) and brought of mirre and aloes myngled together, about an hundred pounde [wayght.]

40. ആ കല്ലറ സമീപം ആകകൊണ്ടു അവര് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഒരുക്കനാള് നിമിത്തം യേശുവിനെ അവിടെ വച്ചു.

40. Then toke they the body of Iesus, & wounde it in linnen clothes, with the odours, as the maner of the Iewes is to burie.
