1. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ന്യായപ്രമാണം അറിയുന്നവരോടല്ലോ ഞാന് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതുമനുഷ്യന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കും കാലത്തൊക്കെയും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്നു അവന്റെമേല് അധികാരമുണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

1. Knowe, ye not brethre (for I speake to the that knowe the lawe) how that the law hath power ouer a ma, as long as he lyueth?

2. ഭര്ത്താവുള്ള സ്ത്രീ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭര്ത്താവിനോടു ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താല് ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചാല് അവള് ഭര്ത്തൃന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില്നിന്നു ഒഴിവുള്ളവളായി.

2. For the woman which is in subiectio to a man, is bounde by the lawe to the man, as long as he lyueth: But yf the man be dead, she is loosed from the lawe of the man.

3. ഭര്ത്താവു ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവള് വേറെ പുരുഷന്നു ആയാല് വ്യഭിചാരിണി എന്നു പേര് വരും; ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചു എങ്കിലോ അവള് വേറെ പുരുഷന്നു ആയാല് വ്യഭിചാരിണി എന്നു വരാതവണ്ണം ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില്നിന്നു സ്വതന്ത്രയാകുന്നു.

3. So then yf whyle the man lyueth, she couple her selfe with another man, she shalbe counted a wedlocke breaker: But yf the man be dead, she is free from the law, so that she is no wedlocke breaker, though she couple her selfe with another man.

4. അതുകൊണ്ടു സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നാം ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഫലം കായക്കുമാറു മരിച്ചിട്ടു ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റവനായ വേറോരുവന്നു ആകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളും ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ശരീരം മുഖാന്തരം ന്യായപ്രമാണസംബന്ധമായി മരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. Euen so, ye also my brethren, are dead concernyng the lawe by the body of Christe, that ye shoulde be coupled to another, who is raysed from the dead, that we shoulde bryng foorth fruite vnto God.

5. നാം ജഡത്തിലായിരുന്നപ്പോള് ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താല് ഉളവായ പാപരാഗങ്ങള് മരണത്തില് ഫലം കായ്ക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം നമ്മുടെ അവയവങ്ങളില് വ്യാപരിച്ചുപോന്നു.

5. For when we were in the fleshe, the lustes of sinne whiche were by the lawe wrought in our members, to bring forth fruite vnto death.

6. ഇപ്പോഴോ, നമ്മെ പിടിച്ചടക്കിയിരുന്ന ന്യായപ്രമാണം സംബന്ധിച്ചു മരിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അക്ഷരത്തിന്റെ പഴക്കത്തിലല്ല ആത്മാവിന്റെ പുതുക്കത്തില് തന്നേ സേവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നാം ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില്നിന്നു ഒഴിവുള്ളവരായിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. But nowe are we delyuered from the lawe, and dead vnto it whervnto we were in bondage, that we shoulde serue in newenesse of spirite, and not in the oldnesse of the letter.

7. ആകയാല് നാം എന്തു പറയേണ്ടു? ന്യായപ്രമാണം പാപം എന്നോ? ഒരുനാളും അരുതു. എങ്കിലും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താല് അല്ലാതെ ഞാന് പാപത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; മോഹിക്കരുതു എന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണം പറയാതിരുന്നെങ്കില് ഞാന് മോഹത്തെ അറികയില്ലായിരുന്നു.

7. What shall we say then? Is the lawe sinne? God forbyd. Neuerthelesse, I knewe not sinne, but by the lawe: For I had not knowen lust, except the lawe had sayde, thou shalt not lust.

8. പാപമോ അവസരം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടു കല്പനയാല് എന്നില് സകലവിധ മോഹത്തെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം കൂടാതെ പാപം നിര്ജ്ജീവമാകുന്നു.

8. But sinne, takyng occasion by the commaundement, wrought in me all maner of concupiscence. For without the lawe, sinne [was] dead.

9. ഞാന് ഒരുകാലത്തു ന്യായപ്രമാണം കൂടാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് കല്പന വന്നപ്പോള് പാപംവീണ്ടും ജീവിക്കയും ഞാന് മരിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

9. I once lyued without lawe: But when the commaundement came, sinne reuyued,

10. ഇങ്ങനെ ജീവന്നായി ലഭിച്ചിരുന്ന കല്പന എനിക്കു മരണ ഹേതുവായിത്തീര്ന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് കണ്ടു. പാപം അവസരം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടു കല്പനയാല് എന്നെ ചതിക്കയും കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു.

10. And I was dead. And the very same commaundemet, which was ordeyned vnto lyfe, was founde to be vnto me an occasion of death.

11. ആകയാല് ന്യായപ്രമാണം വിശുദ്ധം; കല്പന വിശുദ്ധവും ന്യായവും നല്ലതും തന്നേ.

11. For sinne, takyng occasion by the commaundement, hath deceaued me, and by the same slewe [me.]

12. എന്നാല് നന്മയായുള്ളതു എനിക്കു മരണകാരണമായിത്തീര്ന്നു എന്നോ? ഒരുനാളും അരുതു, പാപമത്രേ മരണമായിത്തീര്ന്നതു; അതു നന്മയായുള്ളതിനെക്കൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു മരണം ഉളവാക്കുന്നതിനാല് പാപം എന്നു തെളിയേണ്ടതിന്നു കല്പനയാല് അത്യന്തം പാപമായിത്തീരേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

12. Wherfore the lawe is holy, and the commaundement holy, & iust and good.

13. ന്യായപ്രമാണം ആത്മികം എന്നു നാം അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഞാനോ ജഡമയന് , പാപത്തിന്നു ദാസനായി വില്ക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് തന്നേ.

13. Was that then which was good, made death vnto me? God forbyd. But sinne, that sinne myght appeare, by that which was good to worke death in me: that sinne by ye commaundement, myght be out of measure sinfull.

14. ഞാന് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതിനെ അല്ല പകെക്കുന്നതിനെ അത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.
സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 51:5

14. For we knowe, that the lawe is spirituall: but I am carnall, solde vnder sinne.

15. ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കാത്തതിനെ ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കിലോ ന്യായപ്രമാണം നല്ലതു എന്നു ഞാന് സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു.

15. For that which I do, I alowe not. For what I woulde, that do I not: but what I hate, that do I.

16. ആകയാല് അതിനെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു ഞാനല്ല എന്നില് വസിക്കുന്ന പാപമത്രേ.

16. If I do nowe that which I woulde not, I consent vnto the lawe, that it is good.

17. എന്നില് എന്നുവെച്ചാല് എന്റെ ജഡത്തില് നന്മ വസിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; നന്മ ചെയ്വാനുള്ള താല്പര്യം എനിക്കുണ്ടു; പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതോ ഇല്ല.

17. Nowe then, it is not I that do it: but sinne that dwelleth in me.

18. ഞാന് ചെയ്വാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന നന്മ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലല്ലോ; ഇച്ഛിക്കാത്ത തിന്മയത്രേ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു.

18. For I knowe, that in me, that is to say in my fleshe, dwelleth no good thyng. For to wyll, is present with me: but I fynde no meanes to perfourme that which is good.

19. ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കാത്തതിനെ ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കിലോ അതിനെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു ഞാനല്ല എന്നില് വസിക്കുന്ന പാപമത്രേ.

19. For the good that I woulde, do I not: But the euyll which I woulde not, that do I.

20. അങ്ങനെ നന്മ ചെയ്വാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന ഞാന് തിന്മ എന്റെ പക്കല് ഉണ്ടു എന്നൊരു പ്രമാണം കാണുന്നു.

20. And yf I do that I woulde not, then is it not I that doth it, but sinne that dwelleth in me.

21. ഉള്ളംകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് രസിക്കുന്നു.

21. I fynde then by the lawe, that when I woulde do good, euyll is present with me.

22. എങ്കിലും എന്റെ ബുദ്ധിയുടെ പ്രമാണത്തോടു പോരാടുന്ന വേറൊരു പ്രമാണം ഞാന് എന്റെ അവയവങ്ങളില് കാണുന്നു; അതു എന്റെ അവയവങ്ങളിലുള്ള പാപപ്രമാണത്തിന്നു എന്നെ ബദ്ധനാക്കിക്കളയുന്നു.

22. For I delite in the lawe of God, after the inwarde man:

23. അയ്യോ, ഞാന് അരിഷ്ടമനുഷ്യന് ! ഈ മരണത്തിന്നു അധീനമായ ശരീരത്തില്നിന്നു എന്നെ ആര് വിടുവിക്കും?

23. But I see another lawe in my members, rebellyng agaynst the lawe of my mynde, and subduyng me vnto the lawe of sinne, which is in my members.

24. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുമുഖാന്തരം ഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്നു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാന് തന്നേ ബുദ്ധികൊണ്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രമാണത്തെയും ജഡംകൊണ്ടു പാപത്തിന്റെ പ്രമാണത്തെയും സേവിക്കുന്നു.

24. O wretched man that I am: Who shall deliuer me from the body of this death?
