1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നാം തിരിഞ്ഞു ചെങ്കടല് വഴിയായി മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; നാം ഏറിയനാള് സേയീര്പര്വ്വതത്തെ ചുറ്റിനടന്നു.

1. And we turned and departed into the wilderness, by the way of the Red Sea, as the Lord spoke to me, and we compassed Mount Seir many days.

2. പിന്നെ യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു

2. And the Lord said to me,

3. നിങ്ങള് ഈ പര്വ്വതം ചുറ്റിനടന്നതു മതി; വടക്കോട്ടു തിരിവിന് .

3. You have compassed this mountain long enough; turn therefore toward the north.

4. നീ ജനത്തോടു കല്പിക്കേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്സേയീരില് കുടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളായ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അതിരില്കൂടി നിങ്ങള് കടപ്പാന് പോകുന്നു. അവര് നിങ്ങളെ പേടിക്കും; ആകയാല് ഏറ്റവും സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം.

4. And command the people, saying, You are going through the borders of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they shall fear you, and dread you greatly.

5. നിങ്ങള് അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കരുതുഅവരുടെ ദേശത്തു ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു കാല് വെപ്പാന് പോലും ഇടം തരികയില്ല; സേയീര്പര്വ്വതം ഞാന് ഏശാവിന്നു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. Do not engage in war against them, for I will not give you of their land even enough to set your foot upon, for I have given Mount Seir to the children of Esau as an inheritance.

6. നിങ്ങള് അവരോടു ആഹാരം വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി കഴിക്കേണം; വെള്ളവും വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി കുടിക്കേണം.

6. Buy food from them for money, and eat, and you shall receive water from them by measure for money, and drink.

7. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്റെ കൈകളുടെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തിയിലും നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ മഹാമരുഭൂമിയില് നീ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നതു അവന് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു; നിനക്കു യാതൊന്നിന്നും മുട്ടും വന്നിട്ടില്ല.

7. For the Lord our God has blessed you in every work of your hands. Consider how you went through that great and terrible wilderness- behold, the Lord your God [has been] with you for forty years; you did not lack anything.

8. അങ്ങനെ നാം സേയീരില് കുടിയിരുന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളായ നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒഴിച്ചു അരാബവഴിയായി ഏലാത്തിന്റെയും എസ്യോന് -ഗേബെരിന്റെയും അരികത്തുകൂടി കടന്നിട്ടു തിരിഞ്ഞു മോവാബ് മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി കടന്നുപോന്നു.

8. And we passed by our brethren the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, by the way of Arabah from Elath and from Ezion Geber; and we turned and passed by the way of the desert of Moab.

9. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുമോവാബ്യരെ ഞെരുക്കരുതു; അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കയും അരുതു; ഞാന് അവരുടെ ദേശത്തു നിനക്കു ഒരു അവകാശം തരികയില്ല; ആര്ദേശത്തെ ഞാന് ലോത്തിന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു -

9. And the Lord said to me, Do not quarrel with the Moabites, and do not engage in war with them; for I will not give you of their land for an inheritance, for I have given Ar to the children of Lot, to inherit.

10. വലിപ്പവും പെരുപ്പവും അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ പൊക്കവുമുള്ള ജാതിയായ ഏമ്യര് പണ്ടു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു.

10. Formerly the Emim dwelt in it, a great and numerous nation and powerful, like the Anakim.

11. ഇവരെ അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ മല്ലന്മാര് എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചുവരുന്നു; മോവാബ്യരോ അവര്ക്കും ഏമ്യര് എന്നു പേര് പറയുന്നു.

11. These also shall be accounted as Rephaim, like the Anakim; and the Moabites call them Emim.

12. ഹോര്യ്യരും പണ്ടു സേയീരില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കള് അവരെ തങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളകയും സംഹരിക്കയും അവര്ക്കും പകരം കുടിപാര്ക്കയും ചെയ്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്നു യഹോവ കൊടുത്ത അവകാശദേശത്തു അവര് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ. -

12. And the Horites dwelt in Seir before, and the sons of Esau destroyed them, and utterly consumed them from before them; and they dwelt in their place, as Israel did to the land of his inheritance, which the Lord gave to them.

13. ഇപ്പോള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു സേരെദ് തോടു കടപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നാം സേരെദ് തോടു കടന്നു;

13. Now then, arise, [I said], and depart, and cross the valley of Zered.

14. നാം കാദേശ് ബര്ന്നേയയില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടതുമുതല് സേരെദ് തോടു കടക്കുംവരെയുള്ള കാലം മുപ്പത്തെട്ടു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; അതിന്നിടയില് യോദ്ധാക്കളായിരുന്ന തലമുറ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ അവരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

14. And the days in which we traveled from Kadesh Barnea, till we crossed the valley of Zered, [were] thirty-eight years, until the whole generation of the men of war failed, dying out of the camp, as the Lord God swore to them.

15. അവര് മുടിഞ്ഞുതീരുംവരെ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ അവരെ പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവര്ക്കും വിരോധമായിരുന്നു.

15. And the hand of the Lord was upon them, to destroy them out of the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.

16. ഇങ്ങനെ യോദ്ധാക്കള് ഒക്കെയും ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു മരിച്ചു ഒടുങ്ങിയശേഷം

16. And it came to pass when all the men of war dying out of the midst of the people had fallen,

17. യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു

17. that the Lord spoke to me, saying,

18. നീ ഇന്നു ആര് എന്ന മോവാബ്യദേശത്തുകൂടി കടപ്പാന് പോകുന്നു.

18. You shall pass over this day the borders of Moab, to Ar;

19. അമ്മോന്യരോടു അടുത്തു ചെല്ലുമ്പോള് അവരെ ഞെരുക്കരുതു; അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കയും അരുതു; ഞാന് അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു നിനക്കു അവകാശം തരികയില്ല; അതു ഞാന് ലോത്തിന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. -

19. and you shall draw near to the children of Ammon: do not quarrel with them, nor wage war with them; for I will not give you of the land of the children of Ammon for an inheritance, because I have given it to the children of Lot for an inheritance.

20. അതും മല്ലന്മാരുടെ ദേശമെന്നു വിചാരിച്ചുവരുന്നു; മല്ലന്മാര് പണ്ടു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു; അമ്മോന്യര് അവരെ സംസുമ്മ്യര് എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

20. It shall be accounted a land for the Rephaim, for the Rephaim dwelt there before, and the Ammonites call them Zamzummim.

21. അവര് വലിപ്പവും പെരുപ്പവും അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ പൊക്കവുമുള്ള ജാതിയായിരുന്നു; എങ്കിലും യഹോവ അവരെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കി അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു കുടിപാര്ത്തു.

21. A great nation and populous, and mightier than you, as also the Anakim; yet the Lord destroyed them from before them, and they inherited [their land], and they dwelt [there] instead of them until this day.

22. അവന് സേയീരില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ, അവന് ഹോര്യ്യരെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടു അവര് അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കി അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു ഇന്നുവരെയും പാര്ക്കുംന്നു.

22. As they did to the children of Esau that dwell in Seir, even as they destroyed the Horite from before them, and inherited their country, and dwelt [therein] instead of them until this day.

23. കഫ്തോരില്നിന്നു വന്ന കഫ്തോര്യ്യരും ഗസ്സാവരെയുള്ള ഊരുകളില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന അവ്യരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു കുടിപാര്ത്തു -

23. And the Avim who dwell in Asedoth to Gaza, and the Cappadocians who came out of Cappadocia, destroyed them, and dwelt in their place.

24. നിങ്ങള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു അര്ന്നോന് താഴ്വര കടപ്പിന് ; ഇതാ, ഞാന് ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ അമോര്യ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവനോടു പടവെട്ടി അതു കൈവശമാക്കുവാന് തുടങ്ങുക.

24. Now then arise and depart, and pass over the valley of Ar; behold, I have delivered into your hands Sihon the king of Heshbon the Amorite, and his land. Begin to inherit [it]; engage in war with him this day.

25. നിന്നെയുള്ള പേടിയും ഭീതിയും ആകാശത്തിങ്കീഴെങ്ങും ഉള്ള ജാതികളുടെ മേല് വരുത്തുവാന് ഞാന് ഇന്നു തന്നേ തുടങ്ങും; അവര് നിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേട്ടു നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം വിറെക്കുകയും നടുങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യും.

25. Begin to put your terror and your fear on the face of all the nations under heaven, who shall be troubled when they have heard your name, and shall be in anguish before you.

26. പിന്നെ ഞാന് കെദേമോത്ത് മരുഭൂമിയില് നിന്നു ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ അടുക്കല് സമാധാനവാക്കുകളോടുകൂടെ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു

26. And I sent ambassadors from the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with peaceable words, saying,

27. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദേശത്തു കൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് അനുവദിക്കേണമേ; ഞാന് ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ മാറാതെ പെരുവഴിയില്കൂടി മാത്രം നടക്കും.

27. I will pass through your land; I will go by the road, I will not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

28. സേയീരില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളും ആരില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന മോവാബ്യരും എനിക്കു തന്നതുപോലെ നീ വിലെക്കു തരുന്ന ആഹാരം ഞാന് കഴിക്കയും വിലെക്കു തരുന്ന വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം.

28. You shall give me food for money, and I will eat; and you shall give me water for money, and I will drink; I will only go through on my feet:

29. യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു എത്തുവോളം കാല്നടയായി പോകുവാന് മാത്രം അനുവദിക്കേണം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

29. as the sons of Esau did to me, who dwelt in Seir, and the Moabites who dwelt in Ar, until I have passed the Jordan, into the land which the Lord our God gives us.

30. എന്നാല് നാം തന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന് സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല; ഇന്നു കാണുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനെ നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ മനസ്സു കടുപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കി.

30. And Sihon king of Heshbon would not allow us to pass by him, because the Lord our God hardened his spirit, and made his heart stubborn, that he might be delivered into your hands, as it is this day.

31. യഹോവ എന്നോടുഞാന് സീഹോനെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു അടക്കുവാന് തുടങ്ങുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

31. And the Lord said to me, Behold, I have begun to deliver before you Sihon the king of Heshbon the Amorite, and his land: begin to inherit his land.

32. അങ്ങനെ സീഹോനും അവന്റെ സര്വ്വജനവും നമ്മുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു യാഹാസില്വെച്ചു പടയേറ്റു.

32. And Sihon the king of Heshbon came forth to meet us, he and all his people to war at Jahaz.

33. നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനെ നമ്മുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; നാം അവനെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ സര്വ്വജനത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.

33. And the Lord our God delivered him before our face, and we struck him, and his sons, and all his people.

34. അക്കാലത്തു നാം അവന്റെ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളും പിടിച്ചു പട്ടണംതോറും പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും ഉന്മൂലനാശം ചെയ്തു; ഒരുത്തനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ല.

34. And we took possession of all his cities at that time, and we utterly destroyed every city in succession, and their wives, and their children; we left no living prey.

35. നാല്ക്കാലികളെയും നാം പിടിച്ച പട്ടണങ്ങളിലെ കൊള്ളയും മാത്രം നാം നമുക്കായിട്ടു എടുത്തു.

35. Only we took the livestock captive, and took the spoil of the cities.

36. അര്ന്നോന് താഴ്വരയുടെ അറ്റത്തുള്ള അരോവേരും താഴ്വരയിലെ പട്ടണവുംമുതല് ഗിലെയാദ്വരെ നമ്മുടെ കൈകൂ എത്താതെ ഒരു പട്ടണവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ സകലവും നമ്മുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

36. From Ar, which is by the brink of the brook of Arnon, and the city which is in the valley, and as far as the mount of Gilead; there was not a city which escaped us: the Lord our God delivered all of them into our hands.

37. അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശവും യബ്ബോക്ക് നദിയുടെ ഒരു വശമൊക്കെയും മലനാട്ടിലെ പട്ടണങ്ങളും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മോടു വിലക്കിയ ഇടങ്ങളും മാത്രം നീ ആക്രമിച്ചില്ല.

37. Only we did not draw near to the children of Ammon, even all the parts bordering on the brook Jabbok, and the cities in the mountain country, as the Lord our God commanded us.
