1. നീ ശത്രുക്കളോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടിട്ടു കുതിരകളെയും രഥങ്ങളെയും നിന്നിലും അധികം ജനത്തെയും കാണുമ്പോള് പേടിക്കരുതു; മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു.

1. When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, [and] a people more than you, you will not be afraid of them; for Yahweh your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

2. നിങ്ങള് പടയേല്പാന് അടുക്കുമ്പോള് പുരോഹിതന് വന്നു ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിച്ചു

2. And it will be, when you+ draw near to the battle, that the priest will approach and speak to the people,

3. യിസ്രായേലേ, കേള്ക്ക; നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു ശത്രുക്കളോടു പടയേല്പാന് അടുക്കുന്നു; അധൈര്യപ്പെടരുതു, പേടിക്കരുതു, നടുങ്ങിപ്പോകരുതു; അവരെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കയുമരുതു.

3. and will say to them, Hear, O Israel, you+ draw near this day to battle against your+ enemies: don't let your+ heart faint; don't fear, nor tremble, neither be+ afraid of them;

4. നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായയഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി ശത്രുക്കളോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പോരുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു പറയേണം.

4. for Yahweh your+ God is he who goes with you+, to fight for you+ against your+ enemies, to save you+.

5. പിന്നെ പ്രമാണികള് ജനത്തോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു പുതിയ വീടു പണിയിച്ചു ഗൃഹപ്രവേശം കഴിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവന് പടയില് പട്ടുപോകയും മറ്റൊരുത്തന് ഗൃഹപ്രവേശം കഴിക്കയും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കെണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ.

5. And the officers will speak to the people, saying, What man is there that has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, or else if he dies in the battle, another will man dedicate it.

6. ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കി അതിന്റെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവന് പടയില് പട്ടുപോകയും മറ്റൊരുത്തന് അതിന്റെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കയും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ.

6. And what man is there that has planted a vineyard, and has not used its fruit? Let him go and return to his house, or else if he dies in the battle, another man will use its fruit.

7. ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ വിവഹാത്തിന്നു നിശ്ചയിച്ചു അവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന് പടയില് പട്ടുപോകയും മറ്റൊരുത്തന് അവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിക്കയും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ.

7. And what man is there that has betrothed a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, or else if he dies in the battle, another man will take her.

8. പ്രമാണികള് പിന്നെയും ജനത്തോടു പറയേണ്ടതുആര്ക്കെങ്കിലും ഭയവും അധൈര്യവും ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് അവന് തന്റെ ഹൃദയംപോലെ സഹേദരന്റെ ഹൃദയവും ധൈര്യം കൊടുത്താതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ.

8. And the officers will speak further to the people, and they will say, What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brothers' heart melt as his heart.

9. ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രമാണികള് ജനത്തോടു പറങ്ഞു തീര്ന്നശേഷം അവര് സൈന്യാധിപന്മാരെ സേനാമുഖത്തു ആക്കേണം.

9. And it will be, when the officers have made an end of speaking to the people, that they will appoint captains of hosts at the head of the people.

10. നീ ഒരു പട്ടണത്തോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന് അടുത്തുചെല്ലുമ്പോള് സമാധാനം വിളിച്ചു പറയേണം.

10. When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it.

11. സമാധാനം എന്നു മറുപടി പറങ്ഞു വാതില് തുറന്നുതന്നാല് അതിലുള്ള ജനം എല്ലാം നിനക്കു ഊഴിയവെലക്കാരായി സേവചെയ്യേണം.

11. And it will be, if it answers peace to you, and opens to you, then it will be, that all the people who are found in it will become slave labor to you, and will serve you.

12. എന്നാല് അതു നിന്നോടു സമാധാനമാകാതെ യുദ്ധംചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില് അതിനെ നിരോധിക്കേണം.

12. And if it will not make peace with you, but will make war against you, then you will besiege it:

13. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അതു നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചശേഷം അതിലുള്ള പുരുഷപ്രജയെ ഒക്കെയും വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് കൊല്ലേണം.

13. and when Yahweh your God delivers it into your hand, you will strike every male of it with the edge of the sword:

14. എന്നാല് സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുട്ടികളെയും നാല്ക്കാലികളെയും പട്ടണത്തിലുള്ള സകലത്തെയും അതിലെ കൊള്ളയൊക്കെയും നിനക്കായിട്ടു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളാം; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു തന്നതായ നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കൊള്ള നിനക്കു അനുഭവിക്കാം.

14. but the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all its spoil, you will take for a prey to yourself; and you will eat the spoil of your enemies, which Yahweh your God has given you.

15. ഈ ജാതികളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ഉള്പ്പെടാതെ വളരെ ദൂരമായിരിക്കുന്ന എല്ല പട്ടണങ്ങളോടും ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യേണം.

15. Thus you will do to all the cities which are very far off from you, which are not of the cities of these nations.

16. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന ജാതികളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലോ ശ്വാസമുള്ള ഒന്നിനെയും ജീവനോടെ വെക്കാതെ

16. But of the cities of these peoples, that Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance, you will save alive nothing that breathes;

17. ഹിത്യര്, അമോര്യ്യര്, പെരിസ്യര്, കനാന്യര്, ഹിവ്യര്, യെബൂസ്യര് എന്നിവരെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ശപഥാര്പ്പിതമായി സംഹരിക്കേണം.

17. but you will completely destroy them: the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; as Yahweh your God has commanded you;

18. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ദേവ പൂജയില് ചെയ്തുപോരുന്ന സകലമ്ളേച്ഛതളും ചെയ്വാന് നിങ്ങളെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടു നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

18. that they don't teach you+ to follow all their disgusting behaviors, which they have done to their gods; so you+ would sin against Yahweh your+ God.

19. ഒരു പട്ടണം പിടിപ്പാന് അതിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു വളരെക്കാലം നിരോധിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാല് അതിന്റെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള വൃക്ഷങ്ങളെ കോടാലികൊണ്ടു വെട്ടി നശിപ്പിക്കരുതു; അവയുടെ ഫലം നിനക്കു തിന്നാവുന്നതാകയാല് അവയെ വെട്ടിക്കളയരുതു; നീ പറമ്പിലെ വൃക്ഷത്തെ നിരോധിപ്പാന് അതു മനുഷ്യനാകുന്നുവോ?

19. When you will besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, you will not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them; for you may eat of them, and you will not cut them down; for is the tree of the field man, that it should be besieged of you?

20. തിന്മാനുള്ള ഫലവൃകഷമല്ലെന്നു അറിയുന്ന വൃക്ഷങ്ങളെ മാത്രം വെട്ടിക്കളകയും നിന്നോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്ന പട്ടണം കീഴടങ്ങുംവരെ അതിന്റെ നേരെ കൊത്തളം പണികയും ചെയ്യാം.

20. Only the trees of which you know that they are not trees for food, you will destroy and cut them down; and you will build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you, until it falls.
