1. യിസ്രായേലേ, കേള്ക്ക; നീ ഇന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു നിന്നെക്കാള് വലിപ്പവും ബലവുമുള്ള ജാതികളെയും ആകാശത്തോളം ഉയര്ന്ന മതിലുള്ള വലിയ പട്ടണങ്ങളെയും

1. Hear, O Israel: thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,

2. വലിപ്പവും പൊക്കവുമുള്ള അനാക്യരെന്ന ജാതിയെയും അടക്കുവാന് പോകുന്നു; നീ അവരെ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; അനാക്യരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നില്ക്കാകുന്നവന് ആര് എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള ചൊല്ലു നീ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the sons of Anak?

3. Know therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee as a devouring fire; he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thee: so shalt thou drive them out, and make them to perish quickly, as the LORD hath spoken unto thee.

4. Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath thrust them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: whereas for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.

5. നീ അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കുവാന് ചെല്ലുന്നതു നിന്റെ നീതിനിമിത്തവും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയപരമാര്ത്ഥംനിമിത്തവും അല്ല, ആ ജാതിയുടെ ദുഷ്ടതനിമിത്തവും അബ്രാഹാം, യിസ്ഹാക്, യാക്കോബ് എന്ന നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു യഹോവ സത്യം ചെയ്ത വചനം നിവര്ത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും അത്രേ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവരെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നതു.

5. Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go in to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may establish the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

6. ആകയാല് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു ആ നല്ലദേശം അവകാശമായി തരുന്നതു നിന്റെ നീതിനിമിത്തം അല്ലെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ക; നീ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനമല്ലോ;

6. Know therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

7. നീ മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു ഔര്ക്ക; മറന്നുകളയരുതു; മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട നാള്മുതല് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു വന്നതുവരെയും നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയോടു മത്സരിക്കുന്നവരായിരുന്നു.

7. Remember, forget thou not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou wentest forth out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.

8. ഹോരേബിലും നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു; അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് വിചാരിക്കുംവണ്ണം നിങ്ങളോടു കോപിച്ചു.

8. Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, and the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.

9. യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്ത നിയമത്തിന്റെ പലകകളായ കല്പലകകളെ വാങ്ങുവാന് ഞാന് പര്വ്വതത്തില്കയറി നാല്പതു രാവും നാല്പതു പകലും പര്വ്വതത്തില് താമസിച്ചുഞാന് ആഹാരം കഴിക്കയോ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.

9. When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water.

10. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിരല്കൊണ്ടു എഴുതിയ രണ്ടു കല്പലക യഹോവ എന്റെ പക്കല് തന്നു; മഹായോഗം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന നാളില് യഹോവ പര്വ്വതത്തില്വെച്ചു തീയുടെ നടുവില്നിന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത സകലവചനങ്ങളും അവയില് എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

10. And the LORD delivered unto me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them {cf15i was written} according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

11. നാല്പതു രാവും നാല്പതു പകലും കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോഴായിരുന്നു യഹോവ എന്റെ പക്കല് നിയമത്തിന്റെ പലകകളായ ആ രണ്ടു കല്പലക തന്നതു.

11. And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.

12. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ എന്നോടുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ക്ഷണത്തില് ഇവിടെനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുക; നീ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനം തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ വഷളാക്കി, ഞാന് അവരോടു കല്പിച്ച വഴി വേഗത്തില് വിട്ടുമാറി ഒരു വിഗ്രഹം വാര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

12. And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.

13. ഞാന് ഈ ജനത്തെ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനം എന്നു കാണുന്നു;

13. Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

14. എന്നെ വിടുക; ഞാന് അവരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു അവരുടെ പേര് ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴില്നിന്നു മായിച്ചുകളയും; നിന്നെ അവരെക്കാള് ബലവും വലിപ്പവുമുള്ള ജാതിയാക്കും എന്നും യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

14. let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

15. അങ്ങനെ ഞാന് തിരിഞ്ഞു പര്വ്വതത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി; പര്വ്വതം തീ കാളിക്കത്തുകയായിരുന്നു; നിയമത്തിന്റെ പലക രണ്ടും എന്റെ രണ്ടു കയ്യിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

15. So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

16. ഞാന് നോക്കിയാറെ നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പാപംചെയ്തു ഒരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ വാര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കി യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ച വഴി വേഗത്തില് വിട്ടുമാറിയിരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

16. And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God; ye had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.

17. അപ്പോള് ഞാന് പലക രണ്ടും എന്റെ രണ്ടുകയ്യില്നിന്നു നിങ്ങള് കാണ്കെ എറിഞ്ഞു ഉടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

17. And I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.

18. പിന്നെ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങള് അവന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായി പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ച നിങ്ങളുടെ സകലപാപങ്ങളും നിമിത്തം ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ നാല്പതു രാവും നാല്പതു പകലും വീണു കിടന്നു; ഞാന് ആഹാരം കഴിക്കയോ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.

18. And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I did neither eat bread nor drink water; because of all your sin which ye sinned, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

19. യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമാറു നിങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ കോപിച്ച കോപവും ക്രോധവും ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു; എന്നാല് യഹോവ ആ പ്രാവശ്യവും എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു.

19. For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me that time also.

20. അഹരോനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമാറു അവന്റെ നേരെയും യഹോവ ഏറ്റവും കോപിച്ചു; എന്നാല് ഞാന് അന്നു അഹരോന്നു വേണ്ടിയും അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

20. And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.

21. നിങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപമായ കാളകൂട്ടിയെ ഞാന് എടുത്തു തീയില് ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുനന്നായി അരെച്ചു നേരിയ പൊടിയാക്കി പൊടി പര്വ്വതത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങുന്ന തോട്ടില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

21. And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.

22. തബേരയിലും മസ്സയിലും കിബ്രോത്ത്-ഹത്താവയിലുംവെച്ചു നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു.

22. And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.

23. നിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ കാദേശ്--ബര്ന്നേയയില്നിന്നു അയച്ചപ്പോഴും നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയോടു മറുത്തു; അവനെ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല; അവന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചതുമില്ല.

23. And when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.

24. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ അറിഞ്ഞ നാള്മുതല് നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയോടു മത്സരികളായിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

25. യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നാല്പതു രാവും നാല്പതു പകലും വീണുകിടന്നു;

25. So I fell down before the LORD the forty days and forty nights that I fell down; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

26. ഞാന് യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതുകര്ത്താവായ യഹോവേ, നിന്റെ മഹത്വംകൊണ്ടു നീ വീണ്ടെടുത്തു ബലമുള്ള കയ്യാല് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനത്തെയും നിന്റെ അവകാശത്തെയും നശിപ്പിക്കരുതേ.

26. And I prayed unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

27. അബ്രാഹാം, യിസ്ഹാക്, യാക്കോബ് എന്ന നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ ഔര്ക്കേണമേ; താന് അവര്ക്കും വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ദേശത്തു അവരെ എത്തിപ്പാന് യഹോവേക്കു കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ടും അവന് അവരെ പകെച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും അവരെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു നീ ഞങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോന്ന ദേശക്കാര് പറയാതിരിപ്പാന്

27. Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:

28. ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ ശഠതയും അവരുടെ അകൃത്യവും പാപവും നോക്കരുതേ.

28. lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised unto them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.

29. അവര് നിന്റെ മഹാബലംകൊണ്ടും നീട്ടിയ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടും നീ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനവും നിന്റെ അവകാശവും അല്ലോ.

29. Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy great power and by thy stretched out arm.
