1. ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള ജീവന്റെ വാഗ്ദത്ത പ്രകാരം ദൈവേഷ്ടത്താല് ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിന്റെ അപ്പൊസ്തലനായ പൌലൊസ് പ്രിയ മകനായ തിമൊഥെയൊസിന്നു എഴുതുന്നതു

1. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, according to a promise of life that [is] in Christ Jesus,

2. പിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിങ്കല്നിന്നും നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിങ്കല് നിന്നും നിനക്കു കൃപയും കനിവും സമാധാനവും ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെ.

2. to Timotheus, beloved child: Grace, kindness, peace, from God the Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord!

3. എന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയില് രാവും പകലും ഇടവിടാതെ നിന്നെ സ്മരിച്ചു നിന്റെ കണ്ണുനീര് ഔര്ത്തും നിന്നെ കണ്ടു സന്തോഷപൂര്ണ്ണനാകുവാന് വാഞ്ഛിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു

3. I am thankful to God, whom I serve from progenitors in a pure conscience, that unceasingly I have remembrance concerning thee in my supplications night and day,

4. ഞാന് പൂര്വ്വന്മാരുടെ ദൃഷ്ടാന്തം അനുസരിച്ചു നിര്മ്മലമനസ്സാക്ഷിയോടെ ആരാധിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്നു നിന്റെ നിര്വ്യാജവിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ ഔര്മ്മനിമിത്തം സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

4. desiring greatly to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that with joy I may be filled,

5. ആ വിശ്വാസം ആദ്യം നിന്റെ വലിയമ്മ ലോവീസിലും അമ്മ യൂനീക്കയിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; നിന്നിലും ഉണ്ടെന്നു ഞാന് ഉറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. taking remembrance of the unfeigned faith that is in thee, that dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that also in thee.

6. അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കൈവെപ്പിനാല് നിന്നിലുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൃപാവരം ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു നിന്നെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.

6. For which cause I remind thee to stir up the gift of God that is in thee through the putting on of my hands,

7. ഭീരുത്വത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ അല്ല, ശക്തിയുടെയും സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെയും സുബോധത്തിന്റെയും ആത്മാവിനെയത്രേ ദൈവം നമുക്കു തന്നതു.

7. for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind;

8. അതുകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യത്തെയും അവന്റെ ബദ്ധനായ എന്നെയും കുറിച്ചു ലജ്ജിക്കാതെ സുവിശേഷത്തിന്നായി ദൈവശക്തിക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം നീയും എന്നോടുകൂടെ കഷ്ടം സഹിക്ക.

8. therefore thou mayest not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but do thou suffer evil along with the good news according to the power of God,

9. അവന് നമ്മെ രക്ഷിക്കയും വിശുദ്ധവിളികൊണ്ടു വിളിക്കയും ചെയ്തതു നമ്മുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികള് നിമിത്തമല്ല, സകലകാലത്തിന്നും മുമ്പെ ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവില് നമുക്കു നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നതും ഇപ്പോള് മരണം നീക്കുകയും

9. who did save us, and did call with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, that was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the times of the ages,

10. സുവിശേഷം കൊണ്ടു ജീവനും അക്ഷയതയും വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്ത നമ്മുടെ രക്ഷിതാവായ ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയാല് വെളിപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതുമായ തന്റെ സ്വന്ത നിര്ണ്ണയത്തിന്നും കൃപെക്കും ഒത്തവണ്ണമത്രേ.

10. and was made manifest now through the manifestation of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who indeed did abolish death, and did enlighten life and immortality through the good news,

11. ആ സുവിശേഷത്തിന്നു ഞാന് പ്രസംഗിയും അപ്പൊസ്തലനും ഉപദേഷ്ടാവുമായി നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. to which I was placed a preacher and an apostle, and a teacher of nations,

12. അതു നിമിത്തം തന്നേ ഞാന് ഇതൊക്കെയും സഹിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ലജ്ജിക്കുന്നില്ല; ഞാന് ആരെ വിശ്വസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിയുന്നു; അവന് എന്റെ ഉപനിധി ആ ദിവസംവരെ സൂക്ഷിപ്പാന് ശക്തന് എന്നു ഉറച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. for which cause also these things I suffer, but I am not ashamed, for I have known in whom I have believed, and have been persuaded that he is able that which I have committed to him to guard -- to that day.

13. എന്നോടു കേട്ട പത്ഥ്യവചനം നീ ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള വിശ്വാസത്തിലും സ്നേഹത്തിലും മാതൃകയാക്കിക്കൊള്ക.

13. The pattern hold thou of sound words, which from me thou didst hear, in faith and love that [is] in Christ Jesus;

14. ആ നല്ല ഉപനിധി നമ്മില് അധിവസിക്കുന്ന പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാല് സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

14. the good thing committed guard thou through the Holy Spirit that is dwelling in us;

15. ആസ്യക്കാര് എല്ലാവരും എന്നെ വിട്ടുപൊയക്ക്ളഞ്ഞു എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഫുഗലൊസും ഹെര്മ്മെഗനേസും ആ കൂട്ടത്തില് ഉള്ളവര് ആകുന്നു.

15. thou hast known this, that they did turn from me -- all those in Asia, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes;

16. പലപ്പോഴും എന്നെ തണുപ്പിച്ചവനായ ഒനേസിഫൊരൊസിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിന്നു കര്ത്താവു കരുണ നലകുമാറാകട്ടെ.

16. may the Lord give kindness to the house of Onesiphorus, because many times he did refresh me, and of my chain was not ashamed,

17. അവന് എന്റെ ചങ്ങലയെക്കുറിച്ചു ലജ്ജിക്കാതെ ഞാന് റോമയില് എത്തിയ ഉടനെ താല്പര്യത്തോടെ എന്നെ തിരഞ്ഞു കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

17. but being in Rome, very diligently he sought me, and found;

18. ആ ദിവസത്തില് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ പക്കല് കരുണ കണ്ടെത്തുവാന് കര്ത്താവു അവന്നു സംഗതിവരുത്തട്ടെ. എഫെസൊസില്വെച്ചു അവന് എനിക്കു എന്തെല്ലാം ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തു എന്നു നീ നല്ലവണ്ണം അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

18. may the Lord give to him to find kindness from the Lord in that day; and how many things in Ephesus he did minister thou dost very well know.
