1. അനന്തരം യോശുവ അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു, അവനും യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് എല്ലാവരും ശിത്തീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെ വന്നു മറുകര കടക്കുംമുമ്പെ അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.

1. And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.

2. മൂന്നു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു പ്രമാണികള് പാളയത്തില്കൂടി നടന്നു ജനത്തോടു കല്പിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാല്

2. And it came to pass at the end of three days, that the officers went through the camp;

3. നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകത്തെയും അതിനെ ചുമക്കുന്ന ലേവ്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും നിങ്ങള് കാണുമ്പോള് നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥലം വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അതിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെല്ലേണം.

3. and they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then remove from your place, and go after it;

5. പിന്നെ യോശുവ ജനത്തോടു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന് ; യഹോവ നാളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് അതിശയം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And Joshua said to the people, Hallow yourselves; for to-morrow Jehovah will do wonders in your midst.

6. പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു യോശുവനിങ്ങള് നിയമപെട്ടകം എടുത്തു ജനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പായി അക്കരെ കടപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് നിയമപ്പെട്ടകം എടുത്തു ജനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പായി നടന്നു.

6. And Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and go over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.

7. പിന്നെ യഹോവ യോശുവയോടുഞാന് മോശെയോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെയും ഇരിക്കും എന്നു യിസ്രായേല് എല്ലാം അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് ഇന്നു അവര് കാണ്കെ നിന്നെ വലിയവനാക്കുവാന് തുടങ്ങും.

7. And Jehovah said to Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.

8. നിയമപെട്ടകം ചുമക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാര് യോര്ദ്ദാനിലെ വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ വക്കത്തു എത്തുമ്പോള് യോര്ദ്ദാനില് നില്പാന് കല്പിക്ക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

8. And thou shalt command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, stand still in the Jordan.

9. യോശുവ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടുഇവിടെ വന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. And Joshua said to the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of Jehovah your God.

10. യോശുവ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവം നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഉണ്ടു; അവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു കനാന്യര്, ഹിത്യര്, ഹിവ്യര്, പെരിസ്യര്, ഗിര്ഗ്ഗശ്യര്, അമോര്യ്യര്, യെബൂസ്യര് എന്നിവരെ നീക്കിക്കളയും എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഇതിനാല് അറിയും.

10. And Joshua said, Hereby shall ye know that the living *God is in your midst, and [that] he will without fail dispossess from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

11. ഇതാ, സര്വ്വഭൂമിക്കും നാഥനായവന്റെ നിയമപെട്ടകം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മുമ്പായി യോര്ദ്ദാനിലേക്കു കടക്കുന്നു.

11. Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is going over before you into the Jordan.

12. ആകയാല് ഔരോ ഗോത്രത്തില്നിന്നു ഔരോ ആള്വീതം യിസ്രായേല് ഗോത്രങ്ങളില്നിന്നു പന്ത്രണ്ടു ആളെ കൂട്ടുവിന് .

12. And now take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.

13. സര്വ്വഭൂമിയുടെയും നാഥനായ യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകം ചുമക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ ഉള്ളങ്കാല് യോര്ദ്ദാനിലെ വെള്ളത്തില് ചവിട്ടുമ്പോള് ഉടനെ യോര്ദ്ദാനിലെ വെള്ളം രണ്ടായി പിരിഞ്ഞിട്ടു മേല്നിന്നു ഒഴുകുന്ന വെള്ളം ചിറപോലെ നിലക്കും.

13. And it shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of Jehovah, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan, the waters flowing down from above, shall be cut off, and shall stand up in a heap.

14. അങ്ങനെ ജനം യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ കടപ്പാന് തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; നിയമപെട്ടകം ചുമക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാര് ജനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പായി പെട്ടകം ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെ വന്നു.

14. And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, that the priests bearing the ark of the covenant were before the people;

15. കൊയിത്തുകാലത്തൊക്കെയും യോര്ദ്ദാന് തീരമെല്ലാം കവിഞ്ഞു ഒഴുകും. പെട്ടകം ചുമന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ കാല് വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ വക്കത്തു മുങ്ങിയപ്പോള് മേല് വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ ഒഴുകൂ നിന്നു;

15. and when they that bore the ark were come to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (and the Jordan is full over all its banks throughout the days of harvest),

16. സാരെഥാന്നു സമീപത്തുള്ള ആദാംപട്ടണത്തിന്നരികെ ബഹുദൂരത്തോളം ചിറപോലെ പൊങ്ങി; അരാബയിലെ കടലായ ഉപ്പുകടലിലേക്കു ഒഴുകിയ വെള്ളം വാര്ന്നുപോയി; ജനം യെരീഹോവിന്നു നേരെ മറുകര കടന്നു.

16. the waters which flowed down from above stood [and] rose up in a heap, very far, by Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan; and those that flowed down towards the sea of the plain, the salt sea, were completely cut off. And the people went over opposite to Jericho.

17. യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകം ചുമന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാര് യോര്ദ്ദാന്റെ നടുവില് ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തു ഉറെച്ചുനിന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ജനമൊക്കെയും യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നുതീരുവോളം ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തുകൂടിത്തന്നേ നടന്നുപോയി.

17. And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan. And all Israel went over on dry ground, until all the nation had completely gone over the Jordan.
