1. അനന്തരം യെരുബ്ബാലിന്റെ മകനായ അബീമേലെക് ശെഖേമില് തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവരോടും തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ പിതൃഭവനമായ സര്വ്വകുടുംബത്തോടും സംസാരിച്ചു

1. Then Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem, to his mother's brothers, and spoke with them and with all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying,

2. യെരുബ്ബാലിന്റെ എഴുപതു പുത്രന്മാരുംകൂടെ നിങ്ങളെ ഭരിക്കുന്നതോ ഒരുത്തന് നിങ്ങളെ ഭരിക്കുന്നതോ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഏതു നല്ലതു? ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്വിന് എന്നു ശെഖേമിലെ സകലപൌരന്മാരോടും പറവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Please speak in the ears of all the lords of Shechem: Which is better for you, for all seventy of the sons of Jerubbaal to rule over you, or for one to rule over you? Remember that I am your own flesh and bone.

3. And his mother's brothers spoke all these words concerning him in the ears of all the lords of Shechem; and their heart was inclined after Abimelech, for they said, He is our brother.

4. പിന്നെ അവര് ബാല്ബെരീത്തിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്നിന്നു എഴുപതു വെള്ളിക്കാശു എടുത്തു അവന്നു കൊടുത്തു; അതിനെക്കൊണ്ടു അബീമേലെക് തുമ്പുകെട്ടവരും നിസ്സാരന്മാരുമായ ആളുകളെ കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങി അവര്ക്കും നായകനായ്തീര്ന്നു.

4. And they gave him seventy shekels of silver from the house of Baal-Berith, with which Abimelech hired worthless and reckless men, who went after him.

5. And he went to his father's house at Ophrah and killed his brothers, the seventy sons of Jerubbaal, on one stone. But Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left, because he had hidden himself.

6. And all the lords of Shechem gathered together, all the house of Millo, and they went and made Abimelech king beside the terebinth tree that was situated at Shechem.

7. ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു യോഥാമിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടിയപ്പോള് അവന് ഗെരിസ്സീംമലമുകളില് ചെന്നു ഉച്ചത്തില് അവരോടു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ശെഖേംപൌരന്മാരേ, ദൈവം നിങ്ങളുടെ സങ്കടം കേള്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ സങ്കടം കേള്പ്പിന് .

7. Now when they told Jotham, he went and stood on top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted his voice and cried out. And he said to them: Listen to me, you lords of Shechem, that God may listen to you!

8. The trees once went forth to anoint a king over them. And they said to the olive tree, Reign over us!

9. അതിന്നു ഒലിവു വൃക്ഷംദൈവവും മനുഷ്യരും എന്നെ പുകഴ്ത്തുവാന് ഹേതുവായിരിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ പുഷ്ടി ഞാന് ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെമേല് ആടുവാന് പോകുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. But the olive tree said to them, Should I cease from my fatness, with which they honor God and men, and go to sway over the trees?

10. പിന്നെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങള് അത്തിവൃക്ഷത്തോടുനീ വന്നു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു രാജാവായിരിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Then the trees said to the fig tree, You come and reign over us!

11. അതിന്നു അത്തിവൃക്ഷംഎന്റെ മധുരവും വിശേഷപ്പെട്ട പഴവും ഞാന് ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ മേല് ആടുവാന് പോകുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. But the fig tree said to them, Should I cease my sweetness and my good fruit, and go to sway over the trees?

12. പിന്നെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങള് മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയോടുനീ വന്നു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു രാജാവായിരിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Then the trees said to the vine, You come and reign over us!

13. മുന്തിരിവള്ളി അവയോടുദൈവത്തെയും മനുഷ്യനെയും ആനന്ദിപ്പിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ രസം ഞാന് ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെമേല് ആടുവാന് പോകുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. But the vine said to them, Should I cease my new wine, which cheers both God and men, and go to sway over the trees?

14. പിന്നെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളെല്ലാംകൂടെ മുള്പടര്പ്പിനോടുനീ വന്നു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു രാജാവായിരിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Then all the trees said to the bramble, You come and reign over us!

15. മുള്പടര്പ്പു വൃക്ഷങ്ങളോടുനിങ്ങള് യഥാര്ത്ഥമായി എന്നെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില് വന്നു എന്റെ നിഴലില് ആശ്രയിപ്പിന് ; അല്ലെങ്കില് മുള്പടര്പ്പില്നിന്നു തീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ലെബാനോനിലെ ദേവദാരുക്കളെ ദഹിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And the bramble said to the trees, If in truth you anoint me as king over you, then come and seek refuge in my shade; but if not, let fire come out of the bramble and devour the cedars of Lebanon!

16. നിങ്ങള് ഇപ്പോള് അബീമേലെക്കിനെ രാജാവാക്കിയതില് വിശ്വസ്തതയും പരമാര്ത്ഥതയുമാകുന്നുവോ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചതു? നിങ്ങള് യെരുബ്ബാലിനോടും അവന്റെ കുടുംബത്തോടും നന്മയാകുന്നുവോ ചെയ്തതു? അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയുടെ യോഗ്യതെക്കു തക്കവണ്ണമോ അവനോടു പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചതു?

16. Now therefore, if you have acted in truth and sincerity in making Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to the dealings of his hands;

17. എന്റെ അപ്പന് തന്റെ ജീവനെ ഗണ്യമാക്കാതെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു മിദ്യാന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കെ

17. for my father fought for you, cast aside his own soul, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian;

18. നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ എഴുപതുപേരെയും ഒരു കല്ലിന്മേല്വെച്ചു കൊല്ലുകയും അവന്റെ ദാസിയുടെ മകനായ അബീമേലെക് നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന് ആയിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവനെ ശെഖേംപൌരന്മാര്ക്കും രാജാവാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

18. but you have risen up against my father's house this day, and killed his seventy sons on one stone, and made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the lords of Shechem, because he is your brother;

19. ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു യെരുബ്ബാലിനോടും അവന്റെ കുടുംബത്തോടും ചെയ്തതു വിശ്വസ്തതയും പരമാര്ത്ഥതയും എന്നുവരികില് നിങ്ങള് അബീമേലെക്കില് സന്തോഷിപ്പിന് ; അവന് നിങ്ങളിലും സന്തോഷിക്കട്ടെ.

19. if then you have dealt in truth and integrity towards Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you.

20. അല്ലെങ്കില് അബീമേലെക്കില്നിന്നു തീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശെഖേംപൌരന്മാരെയും മില്ലോഗൃഹത്തെയും ദഹിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ; ശെഖേംപൌരന്മാരില്നിന്നും മില്ലോഗൃഹത്തില്നിന്നും തീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു അബീമേലെക്കിനെയും ദഹിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ.

20. But if not, let fire come from Abimelech and devour the lords of Shechem and the house of Millo; and let fire come from the lords of Shechem and from the house of Millo and devour Abimelech!

21. ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു യോഥാം ഔടിപ്പോയി ബേരിലേക്കു ചെന്നു തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീമേലെക്കിനെ പേടിച്ചു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

21. And Jotham fled and escaped; and he went to Beer and dwelt there, away from the face of Abimelech his brother.

22. അബിമേലെക് യിസ്രായേലിനെ മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ഭരിച്ചശേഷം

22. After Abimelech had reigned over Israel three years,

23. ദൈവം അബീമേലെക്കിന്നും ശെഖേംപൌരന്മാര്ക്കും തമ്മില് ഛിദ്രബുദ്ധി വരുത്തി; ശെഖേംപൌരന്മാര് അബീമേലെക്കിനോടു ദ്രോഹം തുടങ്ങി;

23. God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the lords of Shechem; and the lords of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech,

24. അങ്ങനെ യെരുബ്ബാലിന്റെ എഴുപതു പുത്രന്മാരോടും ചെയ്ത പാതകത്തിന്നു പ്രതികാരം വരികയും അവരുടെ രക്തം അവരെ കൊന്നവനായ അവരുടെ സഹോദരന് അബീമേലെക്കും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുവാന് അവന്നു തുണയായിരുന്ന ശെഖേം പൌരന്മാരും ചുമക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

24. that the wrong done to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might be settled and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, who killed them, and upon the lords of Shechem, who strengthened his hands to kill his brothers.

25. And the lords of Shechem set an ambush against him on the tops of the mountains, and they robbed all who passed by them along that way; and it was reported to Abimelech.

26. അപ്പോള് ഏബെദിന്റെ മകനായ ഗാലും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും വന്നു ശെഖേമില് കടന്നു; ശെഖേംപൌരന്മാര് അവനെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

26. Now Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brothers and went over to Shechem; and the lords of Shechem trusted him.

27. അവര് വയലില് ചെന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളിലെ കുല അറുത്തു ഉത്സവം കൊണ്ടാടി; തങ്ങളുടെ ദേവന്റെ ക്ഷേത്ത്രില് ചെന്നു തിന്നുകുടിക്കയും അബീമേലെക്കിനെ ശപിക്കയും ചെയ്തു

27. And they went out into the fields, and gathered grapes from their vineyards and trod them, and rejoiced. And they went into the house of their god, and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.

28. ഏബെദിന്റെ മകനായ ഗാല് പറഞ്ഞതുഅബീമേലെക്കിനെ നാം സേവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് ആര്? ശെഖേം ആര്? അവന് യെരുബ്ബാലിന്റെ മകനും സെബൂല് അവന്റെ കാര്യസ്ഥനും അല്ലയോ? അവന് ശെഖേമിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹാമോരിന്റെ ആളുകളുമായി അവനെ സേവിക്കട്ടെ; നാം അവനെ സേവിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?

28. And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? Is he not the son of Jerubbaal, and is not Zebul his officer? Serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem; but why should we serve him?

29. ഈ ജനം എന്റെ കൈക്കീഴായിരുന്നെങ്കില് ഞാന് അബീമേലെക്കിനെ നീക്കിക്കളകയും അബീമേലെക്കിനോടുനിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറകയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു.

29. Would therefore that this people were given into my hand! Then I would remove Abimelech. So he said to Abimelech, Increase your army and come out!

30. ഏബേദിന്റെ മകനായ ഗാലിന്റെ വാക്കുകളെ കേട്ടപ്പോള് നഗരാധിപനായ സെബൂലിന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു.

30. And when Zebul, the ruler of the city, heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, his anger burned.

31. അവന് രഹസ്യമായിട്ടു അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചുഇതാ, ഏബെദിന്റെ മകനായ ഗാലും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും ശെഖേമില് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് പട്ടണത്തെ നിന്നോടു മത്സരപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

31. And he sent messengers to Abimelech deceitfully, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brothers have come to Shechem; and behold, they are fortifying the city against you.

32. ആകയാല് നീയും നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള പടജ്ജനവും രാത്രിയില് പുറപ്പെട്ടു വയലില് പതിയിരിന്നുകൊള്വിന് .

32. Now therefore, rise up by night, you and the people with you, and lie in wait in the field.

34. അങ്ങനെ അബീമേലെക്കും കൂടെയുള്ള പടജ്ജനമൊക്കെയും രാത്രിയില് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശെഖേമിന്നരികെ നാലു കൂട്ടമായി പതിയിരുന്നു.

34. So Abimelech and all the people with him rose by night, and lay in wait against Shechem in four companies.

35. ഏബെദിന്റെ മകനായ ഗാല് പുറപ്പെട്ടു പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ ഗോപുരത്തിങ്കല് നിന്നപ്പോള് അബീമേലെക്കും കൂടെ ഉള്ള പടജ്ജനവും പതിയിരിപ്പില്നിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു.

35. When Gaal the son of Ebed went out and stood in the entrance to the city gate, Abimelech and the people with him rose up from the ambush.

36. ഗാല് പടജ്ജനത്തെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്അതാ, പര്വ്വതങ്ങളുടെ മകളില്നിന്നു പടജ്ജനം ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്നു എന്നു സെബൂലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. സെബൂല് അവനോടുപര്വ്വതങ്ങളുടെ നിഴല് കണ്ടിട്ടു മനുഷ്യരെന്നു നിനക്കു തോന്നുകയാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, people are coming down from the tops of the mountains! But Zebul said to him, You are seeing the shadows of the mountains as if they were men.

37. ഗാല് പിന്നെയുംഅതാ, പടജ്ജനം ദേശമദ്ധ്യേ ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്നു; മറ്റൊരു കൂട്ടവും പ്രാശ്നികന്മാരുടെ കരുവേലകത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്തുകൂടി വരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

37. And Gaal spoke again and said, Behold, people are coming down from the midst of the land, and another company is coming from the plain by way of the fortunetellers.

38. സെബൂല് അവനോടുനാം അബീമേലെക്കിനെ സേവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് ആരെന്നു പറഞ്ഞ നിന്റെ വായ് ഇപ്പോള് എവിടെ? ഇതു നീ പുച്ഛിച്ച പടജ്ജനം അല്ലയോ? ഇപ്പോള് പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവരോടു പെരുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. Then Zebul said to him, Where indeed is your mouth now, with which you said, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? Are not these the people whom you have despised? Go out now and fight with them.

39. അങ്ങനെ ഗാല് ശെഖേംപൌരന്മാരുമായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു അബീമേലക്കിനോടു പടവെട്ടി.

39. So Gaal went out before the lords of Shechem, and fought with Abimelech.

40. അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ മുമ്പില് അവന് തോറ്റോടി; അവന് അവനെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു പടിവാതില്വരെ അനേകംപേര് ഹതന്മാരായി വീണു.

40. And Abimelech chased him, and he fled before him; and many fell wounded, to the entrance of the gate.

41. അബീമേലെക് അരൂമയില് താമസിച്ചു; സെബൂല് ഗാലിനെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും ശെഖേമില് പാര്പ്പാന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ അവിടെനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

41. Then Abimelech dwelt at Arumah, and Zebul drove out Gaal and his brothers, so as to not dwell in Shechem.

42. പിറ്റെന്നാള് ജനം വയലിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അബീമേലെക്കിന്നു അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അറിവുകിട്ടി.

42. And it came about on the next day that the people went out into the field, and they reported to Abimelech.

43. അവന് പടജ്ജനത്തെ കൂട്ടി മൂന്നു കൂട്ടമായി ഭാഗിച്ചു വയലില് പതിയിരുന്നു; ജനം പട്ടണത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെന്നു അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.

43. And he took his people, divided them into three companies, and lay in wait in the field, watching. And behold, the people were coming out of the city; and he rose up against them and struck them.

44. പിന്നെ അബീമേലെക്കും കൂടെയുള്ള കൂട്ടവും പാഞ്ഞുചെന്നു പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ പടിവാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നു; മറ്റെ കൂട്ടം രണ്ടും വയലിലുള്ള സകലജനത്തിന്റെയും നേരെ പാഞ്ഞുചെന്നു അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.

44. And Abimelech and the company that was with him rushed forward and stood at the entrance of the gate of the city; and the other two companies rushed upon all who were in the fields and struck them.

45. അബീമേലെക് അന്നു മുഴുവനും പട്ടണത്തോടു പൊരുതു പട്ടണം പിടിച്ചു അതിലെ ജനത്തെ കൊന്നു, പട്ടണത്തെ ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു അതില് ഉപ്പു വിതറി.

45. And Abimelech fought against the city all that day; he took the city and killed the people who were in it; and he broke down the city and sowed it with salt.

46. ശെഖേംഗോപുരവാസികള് എല്ലാവരും ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് ഏല്ബെരീത്തിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രമണ്ഡപത്തില് കടന്നു.

46. And when all the lords of the tower of Shechem heard it, they entered the underground chambers of the house of the god Berith.

47. ശെഖേംഗോപുരവാസികള് എല്ലാവരും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അബീമേലെക്കിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി.

47. And it was reported to Abimelech that all the lords of the tower of Shechem had gathered together.

48. അബീമേലെക്കും കൂടെയുള്ള പടജ്ജനമൊക്കെയും സല്മോന് മലയില് കയറി; അബീമേലെക് കോടാലി എടുത്തു ഒരു മരക്കൊമ്പു വെട്ടി ചുമലില് വെച്ചു, തന്റെ പടജ്ജനത്തോടുഞാന് ചെയ്തതു നോക്കി നിങ്ങളും വേഗം അതുപോലെ ചെയ്വിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

48. And Abimelech went up to Mount Zalmon, he and all the people with him. And Abimelech took an ax in his hand and cut down a bough from the trees, and took it and laid it on his shoulder; then he said to the people with him, What you have seen me do, make haste and do as I have done.

49. പടജ്ജനമെല്ലാം അതുപോലെ ഔരോരുത്തന് ഔരോ കൊമ്പു വെട്ടി അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു മണ്ഡപത്തിന്നരികെ ഇട്ടു തീ കൊടുത്തു മണ്ഡപത്തോടു കൂടെ അവരെ ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ശെഖേംഗോപുരവാസികളൊക്കെയും പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളുമായി ഏകദേശം ആയിരം പേര് മരിച്ചുപോയി.

49. So each of the people likewise cut down his own bough and followed Abimelech, put them against the stronghold, and set the stronghold on fire over them, so that all the people of the tower of Shechem died, about a thousand men and women.

50. അനന്തരം അബീമേലെക് തേബെസിലേക്കു ചെന്നു തേബെസിന്നു വിരോധമായി പാളയമിറങ്ങി അതിനെ പിടിച്ചു.

50. Then Abimelech went to Thebez, and he encamped against Thebez and took it.

51. പട്ടണത്തിന്നകത്തു ഉറപ്പുള്ള ഒരു ഗോപുരം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവിടേക്കു സകലപുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും പട്ടണത്തിലുള്ളവര് ഒക്കെയും ഔടിക്കടന്നു വാതില് അടെച്ചു ഗോപുരത്തിന്റെ മുകളില് കയറി.

51. But there was a strong tower in the middle of the city, and all the men and women, all the lords of the city, fled there and shut themselves in; and they went up to the top of the tower.

52. അബീമേലെക് ഗോപുരത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തി അതിനെ ആക്രമിച്ചു; അതിന്നു തീ കൊടുത്തു ചുട്ടുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഗോപുരവാതിലിന്നടുത്തു ചെന്നു.

52. So Abimelech came to the tower and fought against it; and he drew near the door of the tower to burn it with fire.

53. അപ്പോള് ഒരു സ്ത്രീ തിരികല്ലിന്റെ പിള്ള അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ തലയില് ഇട്ടു അവന്റെ തലയോടു തകര്ത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

53. And a certain woman dropped an upper millstone on Abimelech's head and crushed his skull.

54. ഉടനെ അവന് തന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനായ ബാല്യക്കാരനെ വിളിച്ചുഒരു സ്ത്രീ എന്നെ കൊന്നു എന്നു പറയാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ വാള് ഊരി എന്നെ കൊല്ലുക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരന് അവനെ കുത്തി, അങ്ങനെ അവന് മരിച്ചു.

54. And he called quickly to the young man, his armorbearer, and said to him, Draw your sword and kill me, that they not say of me, A woman killed him. So his young man thrust him through, and he died.

55. അബീമേലെക് മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്യര് താന്താങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

55. And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they departed, every man to his place.

56. അബീമേലെക് തന്റെ എഴുപതു സഹോദരന്മാരെ കൊന്നതിനാല് തന്റെ അപ്പനോടു ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള പാതകത്തിന്നു ദൈവം ഇങ്ങനെ പകരം ചെയ്തു.

56. Thus God repaid the wickedness of Abimelech, which he had done to his father by killing his seventy brothers.

57. ശെഖേംനിവാസികളുടെ സകലപാതകങ്ങളും ദൈവം അവരുടെ തലമേല് വരുത്തി; അങ്ങനെ യെരുബ്ബാലിന്റെ മകനായ യോഥാമിന്റെ ശാപം അവരുടെമേല് വന്നു.

57. And all the evil of the men of Shechem God returned upon their own heads, and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
