1. നൊവൊമിക്കു തന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവായ എലീമേലെക്കിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തില് മഹാധനവാനായ ഒരു ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു ബോവസ് എന്നു പേര്.

1. NOW NAOMI had a kinsman of her husband's, a man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz.

2. എന്നാല് മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീയായ രൂത്ത് നൊവൊമിയോടുഞാന് വയലില് ചെന്നു എന്നോടു ദയ കാണിക്കുന്നവനെ ആശ്രയിച്ചു കതിര് പെറുക്കട്ടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക മകളേ എന്നു അവള് അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor. Naomi said to her, Go, my daughter.

3. അങ്ങനെ അവള് പോയി; വയലില് കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു പെറുക്കി; ഭാഗ്യവശാല് അവള് എലീമേലെക്കിന്റെ കുടുംബക്കാരനായ ബോവസിന്നുള്ള വയലില് ആയിരുന്നു ചെന്നതു.

3. And [Ruth] went and gleaned in a field after the reapers; and she happened to stop at the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.

4. അപ്പോള് ഇതാ, ബോവസ് ബേത്ത്ളെഹെമില്നിന്നു വരുന്നു; അവന് കൊയ്ത്തുകാരോടുയഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യഹോവ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു അവര് അവനോടും പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said to the reapers, The Lord be with you! And they answered him, The Lord bless you!

5. കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ മേലാളായിരുന്ന ഭൃത്യനോടുഈ യുവതി ഏതു എന്നു ബോവസ് ചോദിച്ചു.

5. Then Boaz said to his servant who was set over the reapers, Whose maiden is this?

6. കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ മേലാളായ ഭൃത്യന് ഇവള് മോവാബ് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നൊവൊമിയോടുകൂടെ വന്ന മോവാബ്യയുവതിയാകുന്നു;

6. And the servant set over the reapers answered, She is the Moabitish girl who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab.

7. ഞാന് കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ പിന്നാലെ കറ്റകളുടെ ഇടയില് പെറുക്കിക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നു അവള് ചോദിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവള് കാലത്തു വന്നു ഇതുവരെ പെറുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; വീട്ടില് അല്പനേരമേ താമസിച്ചുള്ളു എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves. So she came and has continued from early morning until now, except when she rested a little in the house.

8. ബോവസ് രൂത്തിനോടുകേട്ടോ മകളേ, പെറുക്കുവാന് വേറൊരു വയലില് പോകേണ്ടാ; ഇവിടം വിടുകയും വേണ്ടാ; ഇവിടെ എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളോടു ചേര്ന്നുകൊള്ക.

8. Then Boaz said to Ruth, Listen, my daughter, do not go to glean in another field or leave this one, but stay here close by my maidens.

9. അവര് കൊയ്യുന്ന നിലത്തിന്മേല് ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചു അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക; ബാല്യക്കാര് നിന്നെ തൊടരുതെന്നു ഞാന് അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു. നിനക്കു ദാഹിക്കുമ്പോള് പാത്രങ്ങള്ക്കരികെ ചെന്നു ദാഹിക്കുമ്പോള് പാത്രങ്ങള്ക്കരികെ ചെന്നു ബാല്യക്കാര് കോരിവെച്ചതില്നിന്നു കുടിച്ചുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Watch which field they reap, and follow them. Have I not charged the young men not to molest you? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink what the young men have drawn.

10. എന്നാറെ അവള് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു അവനോടുഞാന് അന്യദേശക്കാരത്തി ആയിരിക്കെ നീ എന്നെ വിചാരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നിനക്കു എന്നോടു ദയതോന്നിയതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him, Why have I found favor in your eyes that you should notice me, when I am a foreigner?

11. ബോവസ് അവളോടുനിന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചശേഷം അമ്മാവിയമ്മെക്കു നീ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതും നിന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും സ്വദേശത്തെയും വിട്ടു, മുമ്പെ അറിയാത്ത ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതുമായ വിവരമൊക്കെയും ഞാന് കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. And Boaz said to her, I have been made fully aware of all you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and mother and the land of your birth and have come to a people unknown to you before.

12. നിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു യഹോവ പകരം നല്കട്ടെ; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ചിറകിന് കീഴെ ആശ്രയിച്ചുവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന നിനക്കു അവന് പൂര്ണ്ണപ്രതിഫലം തരുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

12. The Lord recompense you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under Whose wings you have come to take refuge!

13. അതിന്നു അവള്യജമാനനേ, ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദാസിമാരില് ഒരുത്തിയെപ്പോലെയല്ല എന്നുവരികിലും നീ എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കയും അടിയനോടു ദയയായി സംസാരിക്കയും ചെയ്വാന് തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നോടു നിനക്കു കൃപതോന്നിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Then she said, Let me find favor in your sight, my lord. For you have comforted me and have spoken to the heart of your maidservant, though I am not as one of your maidservants.

14. ഭക്ഷണസമയത്തു ബോവസ് അവളോടുഇവിടെ വന്നു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക; കഷണം ചാറ്റില് മുക്കിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവള് കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ അരികെ ഇരുന്നു; അവന് അവള്ക്കു മലര് കൊടുത്തു; അവള് തിന്നു തൃപ്തയായി ശേഷിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

14. And at mealtime Boaz said to her, Come here and eat of the bread and dip your morsel in the sour wine [mixed with oil]. And she sat beside the reapers; and he passed her some parched grain, and she ate until she was satisfied and she had some left [for Naomi].

15. അവള് പെറുക്കുവാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോള് ബോവസ് തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരോടുഅവള് കറ്റകളുടെ ഇടയില്തന്നേ പെറുക്കിക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ; അവളെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കരുതു.

15. And when she got up to glean, Boaz ordered his young men, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her.

16. പെറുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവള്ക്കായിട്ടു കറ്റകളില്നിന്നു വലിച്ചിട്ടേക്കേണം; അവളെ ശകാരിക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

16. And let fall some handfuls for her on purpose and let them lie there for her to glean, and do not rebuke her.

17. ഇങ്ങനെ അവള് വൈകുന്നേരംവരെ പെറുക്കി; പെറുക്കിയതു മെതിച്ചപ്പോള് ഏകദേശം ഒരു പറ യവം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

17. So she gleaned in the field until evening. Then she beat out what she had gleaned. It was about an ephah of barley.

18. അവള് അതു എടുത്തുംകൊണ്ടു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു പോയി; അവള് പെറുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു അമ്മാവിയമ്മ കണ്ടു; താന് തിന്നു ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നതും അവള് എടുത്തു അവള്ക്കു കൊടുത്തു.

18. And she took it up and went into the town; she showed her mother-in-law what she had gleaned, and she also brought forth and gave her the food she had reserved after she was satisfied.

19. അമ്മാവിയമ്മ അവളോടുനീ ഇന്നു എവിടെയായിരുന്നു പെറുക്കിയതു? എവിടെയായിരുന്നു വേല ചെയ്തതു? നിന്നോടു ആദരവു കാണിച്ചവന് ആനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. താന് ഇന്ന ആളുടെ അടുക്കലായിരുന്നു വേല ചെയ്തതു എന്നു അവള് അമ്മാവിയമ്മയോടു അറിയിച്ചുബോവസ് എന്നൊരു ആളുടെ അടുക്കലായിരുന്നു ഞാന് ഇന്നു വേല ചെയ്തതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And her mother-in-law said to her, Where have you gleaned today? Where did you work? Blessed be the man who noticed you. So [Ruth] told [her], The name of him with whom I worked today is Boaz.

20. നൊവൊമി മരുമകളോടുജീവനുള്ളവരോടും മരിച്ചവരോടും ദയവിടാതിരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാല് അവന് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അയാള് നമുക്കു അടുത്ത ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരനും നമ്മുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരില് ഒരുത്തനും ആകുന്നു എന്നും നൊവൊമി അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, Blessed be he of the Lord who has not ceased his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said to her, The man is a near relative of ours, one who has the right to redeem us. [Lev. 25:25.]

21. എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാര് കൊയ്ത്തെല്ലാം തീര്ക്കുംവോളം അവരോടു ചേന്നിരിക്ക എന്നുകൂടെ അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീയായ രൂത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said to me also, Stay close to my young men until they have harvested my entire crop.

22. നൊവൊമി തന്റെ മരുമകളായ രൂത്തിനോടുമകളേ, വെറൊരു വയലില്വെച്ചു ആരും നിന്നെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അവന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളോടുകൂടെ തന്നേ പോകുന്നതു നന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And Naomi said to Ruth, It is good, my daughter, for you to go out with his maidens, lest in any other field you be molested.

23. അങ്ങനെ അവള് യവക്കൊയ്ത്തും കോതമ്പുകൊയ്ത്തും തീരുവോളം പെറുക്കുവാന് ബോവസിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളോടു ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കയും അമ്മാവിയമ്മയോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

23. So she kept close to the maidens of Boaz, gleaning until the end of the barley and wheat harvests. And she lived with her mother-in-law.
