1. അനന്തരം അവളുടെ അമ്മാവിയമ്മയായ നൊവൊമി അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞതുമകളേ, നിനക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിനക്കു വേണ്ടി ഒരു വിശ്രാമസ്ഥലം അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടയോ?

1. Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, 'My daughter, should I not seek a home for you, that it may be well with you?

2. നീ ചേര്ന്നിരുന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളുടെ യജമാനനായ ബോവസ് നമ്മുടെ ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരനല്ലയോ? അവന് ഇന്നു രാത്രി കളത്തില് യവം തൂറ്റുന്നു.

2. Now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? See, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor.

3. ആകയാല് നീ കുളിച്ചു തൈലം പൂശി വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു കളത്തില് ചെല്ലുക; ആയാള് തിന്നു കുടിച്ചു കഴിയുംവരെ നിന്നെ കാണരുതു.

3. Wash therefore and anoint yourself, and put on your best clothes and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.

4. ഉറങ്ങുവാന് പോകുമ്പോള് അവന് കിടക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലം മനസ്സിലാക്കി ചെന്നു അവന്റെ കാലിന്മേലുള്ള പുതപ്പു പൊക്കി അവിടെ കിടന്നു കൊള്ക; എന്നാല് നീ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണമെന്നു അവന് നിനക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരും.

4. But when he lies down, observe the place where he lies; then, go and uncover his feet and lie down; and he will tell you what to do.'

5. അതിന്നു അവള്നീ പറയുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് ചെയ്യാം എന്നു അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And she replied, 'All that you say I will do.'

6. അങ്ങനെ അവള് കളത്തില് ചെന്നു അമ്മാവിയമ്മകല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.

6. So she went down to the threshing floor and did just as her mother-in-law had told her.

7. ബോവസ് തിന്നു കുടിച്ചു ഹൃദയം തെളിഞ്ഞശേഷം യവക്കൂമ്പാരത്തിന്റെ ഒരു വശത്തു ചെന്നു കിടന്നു; അവളും പതുക്കെ ചെന്നു അവന്റെ കാലിന്മേലുള്ള പുതപ്പു പൊക്കി അവിടെ കിടന്നു.

7. And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. Then she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and lay down.

8. അര്ദ്ധരാത്രിയില് അവന് ഞെട്ടിത്തിരിഞ്ഞു, തന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് ഒരു സ്ത്രീ കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു. നീ ആര് എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചു.

8. At midnight the man was startled, and turned over, and behold, a woman lay at his feet!

9. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദാസിയായ രൂത്ത്; നിന്റെ പുതപ്പു അടിയന്റെ മേല് ഇടേണമേ; നീ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരനല്ലോ എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

9. He said, 'Who are you?' And she answered, 'I am Ruth, your maidservant; spread your skirt over your maidservant, for you are next of kin.'

10. അതിന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുമകളേ, നീ യഹോവയാല് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവള്; ദരിദ്രന്മാരോ ധനവാന്മാരോ ആയ ബാല്യക്കാരെ നീ പിന്തുടരാതിരിക്കയാല് ആദ്യത്തേതില് അധികം ദയ ഒടുവില് കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

10. And he said, 'May you be blessed by the LORD, my daughter; you have made this last kindness greater than the first, in that you have not gone after young men, whether poor or rich.

11. ആകയാല് മകളേ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നീ ചോദിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് ചെയ്തുതരാം; നീ ഉത്തമ സ്ത്രീ എന്നു എന്റെ ജനമായ പട്ടണക്കാര്ക്കും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും അറിയാം.

11. And now, my daughter, do not fear, I will do for you all that you ask, for all my fellow townsmen know that you are a woman of worth.

12. ഞാന് നിന്റെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് എന്നതു സത്യം തന്നേ; എങ്കിലും എന്നെക്കാള് അടുത്ത ഒരു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് ഉണ്ടു.

12. And now it is true that I am a near kinsman, yet there is a kinsman nearer than I.

13. ഈ രാത്രി താമസിക്ക; നാളെ അവന് നിനക്കു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന്റെ മുറ നിവര്ത്തിച്ചാല് കൊള്ളാം; അവന് നിവര്ത്തിക്കട്ടെ; വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന്റെ മുറ നിവര്ത്തിപ്പാന് അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിലോ യഹോവയാണ ഞാന് നിനക്കു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന്റെ മുറ നിര്വര്ത്തിച്ചുതരും; രാവിലെവരെ കിടന്നുകൊള്ക.

13. Remain this night, and in the morning, if he will do the part of the next of kin for you, well; let him do it; but if he is not willing to do the part of the next of kin for you, then, as the LORD lives, I will do the part of the next of kin for you. Lie down until the morning.'

14. അങ്ങനെ അവള് രാവിലെവരെ അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് കിടന്നു; ഒരു സ്ത്രീ കളത്തില് വന്നതു ആരും അറിയരുതെന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ആളറിയാറാകുംമുമ്പെ അവള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു.

14. So she lay at his feet until the morning, but arose before one could recognize another; and he said, 'Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.'

15. നീ ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പുതപ്പു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പിടിക്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവള് അതു പിടിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് ആറിടങ്ങഴി യവം അതില് അളന്നുകൊടുത്തു; അവള് പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.

15. And he said, 'Bring the mantle you are wearing and hold it out.' So she held it, and he measured out six measures of barley, and laid it upon her; then she went into the city.

16. അവള് അമ്മാവിയമ്മയുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള്നിന്റെ കാര്യം എന്തായി മകളേ എന്നു അവള് ചോദിച്ചു; ആയാള് തനിക്കു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവള് അറിയിച്ചു.

16. And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, 'How did you fare, my daughter?' Then she told her all that the man had done for her,

17. അമ്മാവിയമ്മയുടെ അടുക്കല് വെറുങ്കയ്യായി പോകരുതു എന്നു അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു ഈ ആറിടങ്ങഴി യവവും എനിക്കു തന്നു എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

17. saying, 'These six measures of barley he gave to me, for he said, `You must not go back empty-handed to your mother-in-law.''

18. അതിന്നു അവള്എന്റെ മകളേ, ഈ കാര്യം എന്താകുമെന്നു അറിയുവോളം നീ അനങ്ങാതിരിക്ക; ഇന്നു ഈ കാര്യം തീര്ക്കുംവരെ ആയാള് സ്വസ്ഥമായിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. She replied, 'Wait, my daughter, until you learn how the matter turns out, for the man will not rest, but will settle the matter today.'
