1. ശമൂവേല്ബാലന് ഏലിയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ യഹോവേക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുപോന്നു; ആ കാലത്തു യഹോവയുടെ വചനം ദുര്ല്ലഭമായിരുന്നു; ദര്ശനം ഏറെ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

1. Nowe the childe Samuel ministred vnto the Lord before Eli: and the word of the Lord was precious in those dayes: for there was no manifest vision.

2. ആ കാലത്തു ഒരിക്കല് ഏലി തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു കിടന്നുറങ്ങി; കാണ്മാന് വഹിയാതവണ്ണം അവന്റെ കണ്ണു മങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു.

2. And at that time, as Eli lay in his place, his eyes began to waxe dimme that he could not see.

3. ശമൂവേല് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം ഇരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരത്തില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിളകൂ കെടുന്നതിന്നു മുമ്പെ ചെന്നു കിടന്നു.

3. And yet the light of God went out, Samuel slept in the temple of the Lord, where the Arke of God was.

4. യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനെ വിളിച്ചുഅടിയന് എന്നു അവന് വിളികേട്ടു ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ഔടിച്ചെന്നുഅടിയന് ഇതാ; എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Then the Lord called Samuel: and hee said, Here I am.

5. ഞാന് വിളിച്ചില്ല; പോയി കിടന്നുകൊള്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് പോയി കിടന്നു.

5. And he ranne vnto Eli, and said, Here am I, for thou calledst me. But he said, I called thee not: goe againe and sleepe. And he went and slept.

6. യഹോവ പിന്നെയുംശമൂവേലേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. ശമൂവേല് എഴന്നേറ്റു ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഅടിയന് ഇതാ; എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് വിളിച്ചില്ല, മകനേ; പോയി കിടന്നുകൊള്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And the Lord called once againe, Samuel. And Samuel arose, and went to Eli, and said, I am here: for thou diddest call me. And he answered, I called thee not, my sonne: go againe and sleepe.

7. ശമൂവേല് അന്നുവരെ യഹോവയെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവന്നു അന്നുവരെ വെളിപ്പെട്ടതുമില്ല.

7. Thus did Samuel, before hee knewe the Lord, and before the word of the Lord was reueiled vnto him.

8. യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനെ മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യം വിളിച്ചു. അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഅടിയന് ഇതാ; എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയായിരുന്നു ബാലനെ വിളിച്ചതു എന്നു ഏലിക്കു മനസ്സിലായി.

8. And the Lord called Samuel againe the thirde time: and he arose, and went to Eli, and said, I am here: for thou hast called me. Then Eli perceiued that the Lord had called the childe.

9. ഏലി ശമൂവേലിനോടുപോയി കിടന്നുകൊള്ക; ഇനിയും നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചാല്യഹോവേ, അരുളിച്ചെയ്യേണമേ; അടിയന് കേള്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു കൊള്ളേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു ചെന്നുകിടന്നു.

9. Therefore Eli saide vnto Samuel, Goe and sleepe: and if he call thee, then say, Speake Lord, for thy seruant heareth. So Samuel went, and slept in his place.

10. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ വന്നുനിന്നു മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെശമൂവേലേ, ശമൂവേലേ, എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. അതിന്നു ശമൂവേല്അരുളിച്ചെയ്യേണമേ; അടിയന് കേള്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. And the Lord came, and stoode, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speake, for thy seruant heareth.

11. യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഇതാ, ഞാന് യിസ്രായേലില് ഒരു കാര്യം ചെയ്യും; അതു കേള്ക്കുന്നവന്റെ ചെവി രണ്ടും മുഴങ്ങും.

11. Then the Lord said to Samuel, Beholde, I wil doe a thing in Israel, whereof whosoeuer shall heare, his two eares shall tingle.

12. ഞാന് ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് അന്നു അവന്റെമേല് ആദ്യന്തം നിവര്ത്തിക്കും.

12. In that day I will raise vp against Eli all things which I haue spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an ende.

13. അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് ദൈവദൂഷണം പറയുന്ന അകൃത്യം അവന് അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവരെ ശാസിച്ചമര്ത്തായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അവന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്നു എന്നേക്കും ശിക്ഷവിധിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. And I haue tolde him that I will iudge his house for euer, for the iniquitie which hee knoweth, because his sonnes ranne into a slaunder, and he stayed them not.

14. ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തിന്റെ അകൃത്യത്തിന്നു യാഗത്താലും വഴിപാടിനാലും ഒരു നാളും പരിഹാരം വരികയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തോടു സത്യംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. Nowe therefore I haue sworne vnto the house of Eli, that the wickednes of Elis house, shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offring for euer.

15. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് രാവിലെവരെ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി; രാവിലെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു. എന്നാല് ഈ ദര്ശനം ഏലിയെ അറിയിപ്പാന് ശമൂവേല് ശങ്കിച്ചു.

15. Afterward Samuel slept vntil the morning, and opened the doores of the house of the Lord, and Samuel feared to shewe Eli the vision.

16. ഏലി ശമൂവേലിനെ വിളിച്ചുശമൂവേലേ, മകനേ, എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അടിയന് ഇതാ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel my sonne. And he answered, Here I am.

17. അപ്പോള് അവന് നിനക്കുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തു? എന്നെ ഒന്നും മറെക്കരുതേ; നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത സകലത്തിലും ഒരു വാക്കെങ്കിലും മറെച്ചാല് ദൈവം നിന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. Then he said, What is it, that the Lord said vnto thee? I pray thee, hide it not from mee. God doe so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me, of all that he said vnto thee.

18. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് സകലവും അവനെ അറിയിച്ചു; ഒന്നും മറെച്ചില്ല. എന്നാറെ അവന് യഹോവയല്ലോ; തന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്യട്ടേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. So Samuel tolde him euery whit, and hid nothing from him. Then hee said, It is the Lord: let him do what seemeth him good.

19. എന്നാല് ശമൂവേല് വളര്ന്നു, യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ വചനങ്ങളില് ഒന്നും നിഷ്ഫലമാകുവാന് ഇടവരുത്തിയില്ല.

19. And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and let none of his words fall to the ground.

20. ദാന് മുതല് ബേര്-ശേബാവരെ ഉള്ള യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും ശമൂവേല് യഹോവയുടെ വിശ്വസ്തപ്രവാചകന് എന്നു ഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

20. And all Israel from Dan to Beer-sheba knew that faithfull Samuel was the Lordes Prophet.

21. ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ ശീലോവില് വെച്ചു ശമൂവേലിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ വചനത്താല് വെളിപ്പെട്ടശേഷം യഹോവ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ശീലോവില്വെച്ചു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.

21. And the Lord appeared againe in Shiloh: for the Lord reueiled himselfe to Samuel in Shiloh by his word.
