1. ശമൂവേല്ബാലന് ഏലിയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ യഹോവേക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുപോന്നു; ആ കാലത്തു യഹോവയുടെ വചനം ദുര്ല്ലഭമായിരുന്നു; ദര്ശനം ഏറെ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

1. Now, the boy Samuel, was ministering unto Yahweh, before Eli, and, the word of Yahweh, had become rare in those days, there was no well-known vision.

2. ആ കാലത്തു ഒരിക്കല് ഏലി തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു കിടന്നുറങ്ങി; കാണ്മാന് വഹിയാതവണ്ണം അവന്റെ കണ്ണു മങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു.

2. But it came to pass, at that time, when Eli was lying down in his place, his eyes, having begun to be dim, he could not see,

3. ശമൂവേല് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകം ഇരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരത്തില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിളകൂ കെടുന്നതിന്നു മുമ്പെ ചെന്നു കിടന്നു.

3. though, the lamp of God, was not yet to be put out, and, Samuel, was lying down in the temple of Yahweh, where was the ark of God,

4. യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനെ വിളിച്ചുഅടിയന് എന്നു അവന് വിളികേട്ടു ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ഔടിച്ചെന്നുഅടിയന് ഇതാ; എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. that Yahweh called unto Samuel, and he said Behold me!

5. ഞാന് വിളിച്ചില്ല; പോയി കിടന്നുകൊള്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് പോയി കിടന്നു.

5. So he ran unto Eli and said Behold me! for thou calledst me. And he said I called not, return Its down. So he went, and lie down.

6. യഹോവ പിന്നെയുംശമൂവേലേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. ശമൂവേല് എഴന്നേറ്റു ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഅടിയന് ഇതാ; എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് വിളിച്ചില്ല, മകനേ; പോയി കിടന്നുകൊള്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And again Yahweh called once there Samuel! Then rose Samuel, and went unto Eli, and said Behold me! for thou calledst me. And he said I called not, my son, return lie down.

7. ശമൂവേല് അന്നുവരെ യഹോവയെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവന്നു അന്നുവരെ വെളിപ്പെട്ടതുമില്ല.

7. Now, Samuel, as yet knew not Yahweh, nor, as yet, had been revealed unto him, the word of Yahweh.

8. യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനെ മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യം വിളിച്ചു. അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഅടിയന് ഇതാ; എന്നെ വിളിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയായിരുന്നു ബാലനെ വിളിച്ചതു എന്നു ഏലിക്കു മനസ്സിലായി.

8. And again Yahweh called Samuel! a third time. Then he arose, and went unto Eli, and said Behold me! for thou calledst me. Then did Eli perceive, that, Yahweh, was calling the boy.

9. ഏലി ശമൂവേലിനോടുപോയി കിടന്നുകൊള്ക; ഇനിയും നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചാല്യഹോവേ, അരുളിച്ചെയ്യേണമേ; അടിയന് കേള്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു കൊള്ളേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു ചെന്നുകിടന്നു.

9. So Eli said to Samuel Go, lie down, and it shall be, if he call unto thee, that thou shalt say Speak, Yahweh, for thy servant is listening. And Samuel went, and lay down in his place.

10. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ വന്നുനിന്നു മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെശമൂവേലേ, ശമൂവേലേ, എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. അതിന്നു ശമൂവേല്അരുളിച്ചെയ്യേണമേ; അടിയന് കേള്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Then came Yahweh, and stood, and called as time after time Samuel! Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak, for thy servant is listening.

11. യഹോവ ശമൂവേലിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഇതാ, ഞാന് യിസ്രായേലില് ഒരു കാര്യം ചെയ്യും; അതു കേള്ക്കുന്നവന്റെ ചെവി രണ്ടും മുഴങ്ങും.

11. And Yahweh said unto Samuel, Lo! I am doing a thing, in Israel, at which both ears of everyone that heareth it shall tingle.

12. ഞാന് ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് അന്നു അവന്റെമേല് ആദ്യന്തം നിവര്ത്തിക്കും.

12. In that day, will I confirm against Eli, all that I have spoken against his house, beginning and finishing.

13. അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് ദൈവദൂഷണം പറയുന്ന അകൃത്യം അവന് അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവരെ ശാസിച്ചമര്ത്തായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അവന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്നു എന്നേക്കും ശിക്ഷവിധിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. Therefore do I tell him, that I am about to judge his house unto times age-abiding, for the iniquity which he knoweth, in that his sons are cursing God, and he hath not rebuked them.

14. ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തിന്റെ അകൃത്യത്തിന്നു യാഗത്താലും വഴിപാടിനാലും ഒരു നാളും പരിഹാരം വരികയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തോടു സത്യംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. And therefore have I sworn, respecting the house of Eli, that the iniquity of the house of Eli shall receive no propitiatory-covering, by sacrifice or by present, unto times age-abiding.

15. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് രാവിലെവരെ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി; രാവിലെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു. എന്നാല് ഈ ദര്ശനം ഏലിയെ അറിയിപ്പാന് ശമൂവേല് ശങ്കിച്ചു.

15. And Samuel lay until the morning, and rose early in the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Yahweh, but, Samuel, feared to tell the appearing, unto Eli.

16. ഏലി ശമൂവേലിനെ വിളിച്ചുശമൂവേലേ, മകനേ, എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അടിയന് ഇതാ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

16. So Eli called Samuel, and said Samuel! my son. And he said Behold me!

17. അപ്പോള് അവന് നിനക്കുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തു? എന്നെ ഒന്നും മറെക്കരുതേ; നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത സകലത്തിലും ഒരു വാക്കെങ്കിലും മറെച്ചാല് ദൈവം നിന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. And he said What is the word, which he spake unto thee? I pray thee, do not hide it from me. So, let God do to thee, and, so, let him add, if thou hide from me a word, out of anything which he hath spoken unto thee.

18. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് സകലവും അവനെ അറിയിച്ചു; ഒന്നും മറെച്ചില്ല. എന്നാറെ അവന് യഹോവയല്ലോ; തന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്യട്ടേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. So Samuel told him all the words, and hid nothing from him. And he said, Yahweh, he is; what is good in his own eyes, let him do.

19. എന്നാല് ശമൂവേല് വളര്ന്നു, യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ വചനങ്ങളില് ഒന്നും നിഷ്ഫലമാകുവാന് ഇടവരുത്തിയില്ല.

19. And Samuel grew, and, Yahweh, proved to he with him, and let none of all his words fall to the ground.

20. ദാന് മുതല് ബേര്-ശേബാവരെ ഉള്ള യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും ശമൂവേല് യഹോവയുടെ വിശ്വസ്തപ്രവാചകന് എന്നു ഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

20. So all Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, came to know, that Samuel had become confirmed as a prophet unto Yahweh.

21. ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ ശീലോവില് വെച്ചു ശമൂവേലിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ വചനത്താല് വെളിപ്പെട്ടശേഷം യഹോവ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും ശീലോവില്വെച്ചു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.

21. Thus did Yahweh again appear in Shiloh, for Yahweh had revealed himself unto Samuel in Shiloh, in the word of Yahweh.
