1. ശലോമോനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പന്നു പകരം രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു എന്നു സോര്രാജാവായ ഹീരാം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു. ഹീരാം എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായിരുന്നു.

1. And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth his servants unto Solomon, for he heard that they had anointed him for king instead of his father, for Hiram was a lover of David all the days;

2. ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്

2. and Solomon sendeth unto Hiram, saying,

3. എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ യഹോവ അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കീഴാക്കുംവരെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള യുദ്ധം ഹേതുവായി തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാന് അവന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

3. 'Thou hast known David my father, that he hath not been able to build a house to the name of Jehovah his God, because of the wars that have been round about him, till Jehovah's putting them under the soles of his feet.

4. എന്നാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഒരു പ്രതിയോഗിയോ വിഘ്നമോ ഇല്ല; എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ചുറ്റും എനിക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. 'And now, Jehovah my God hath given rest to me round about, there is no adversary nor evil occurrence,

5. ആകയാല് ഇതാ, ഞാന് നിനക്കു പകരം നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുത്തുന്ന നിന്റെ മകന് എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയുമെന്നു യഹോവ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാന് ഞാന് വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

5. and lo, I am saying to build a house to the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son whom I appoint in thy stead on thy throne, he doth build the house for My name.

6. ആകയാല് ലെബാനോനില്നിന്നു എനിക്കായി ദേവദാരുമരം മുറിപ്പാന് കല്പന കൊടുക്കേണം; എന്റെ വേലക്കാര് നിന്റെ വേലക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും; നിന്റെ വേലക്കാര്ക്കും നീ പറയുന്ന കൂലി ഞാന് എത്തിച്ചു തരാം; സീദോന്യരെപ്പോലെ മരം മുറിപ്പാന് പരിചയമുള്ളവര് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ആരും ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

6. 'And now, command, and they cut down for me cedars out of Lebanon, and my servants are with thy servants, and the hire of thy servants I give to thee according to all that thou sayest, for thou hast known that there is not among us a man acquainted with cutting wood, like the Sidonians.'

7. ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള് ഏറ്റവും സന്തോഷിച്ചുഈ മഹാജനത്തെ വാഴുവാന് ദാവീദിന്നു ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളോരു മകനെ കൊടുത്ത യഹോവ ഇന്നു വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And it cometh to pass at Hiram's hearing the words of Solomon, that he rejoiceth exceedingly, and saith, 'Blessed [is] Jehovah to-day, who hath given to David a wise son over this numerous people.'

8. ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്നീ പറഞ്ഞയച്ച വസ്തുത ഞാന് കേട്ടു; ദേവദാരുവിന്റെയും സരളമരത്തിന്റെയും കാര്യത്തില് നീ ഇച്ഛിച്ചതു ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് ചെയ്യാം.

8. And Hiram sendeth unto Solomon, saying, I have heard that which thou hast sent unto me, I do all thy desire concerning cedar-wood, and fir-wood,

9. എന്റെ വേലക്കാര് ലെബാനോനില്നിന്നു കടലിലേക്കു അവയെ ഇറക്കിയശേഷം ഞാന് ചങ്ങാടം കെട്ടിച്ചു നീ പറയുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു കടല് വഴിയായി എത്തിച്ചു കെട്ടഴിപ്പിച്ചുതരാം; നീ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങേണം; എന്നാല് എന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം എത്തിച്ചുതരുന്ന കാര്യത്തില് നീ എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടവും നിവര്ത്തിക്കേണം.

9. my servants bring down from Lebanon to the sea, and I make them floats in the sea unto the place that thou sendest unto me, and I have spread them out there; and thou dost take [them] up, and thou dost execute my desire, to give the food of my house.'

10. അങ്ങനെ ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്നു ദേവദാരുവും സരളമരവും അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഒക്കെയും കൊടുത്തു പോന്നു.

10. And Hiram is giving to Solomon cedar-trees, and fir-trees, all his desire,

11. ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിലേക്കു ആഹാരംവകെക്കു ഇരുപതിനായിരം പറ കോതമ്പും ഇരുപതു പറ ഇടിച്ചെടുത്ത എണ്ണയും കൊടുത്തു; ഇങ്ങനെ ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്നു ആണ്ടുതോറും കൊടുക്കും.

11. and Solomon hath given to Hiram twenty thousand cors of wheat, food for his house, and twenty cors of beaten oil; thus doth Solomon give to Hiram year by year.

12. യഹോവ ശലോമോനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവന്നു ജ്ഞാനം നല്കി; ഹീരാമും ശലോമോനും തമ്മില് സമാധാനമായിരുന്നു; അവര് ഇരുവരും തമ്മില് ഉടമ്പടിയും ചെയ്തു.

12. And Jehovah hath given wisdom to Solomon as He spake to him, and there is peace between Hiram and Solomon, and they make a covenant both of them.

13. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നൊക്കെയും ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരെ വരിയിട്ടെടുത്തു; ഊഴിയ വേലക്കാര് മുപ്പതിനായിരംപേരായിരുന്നു.

13. And king Solomon lifteth up a tribute out of all Israel, and the tribute is thirty thousand men,

14. അവന് അവരെ മാസംതോറും പതിനായിരംപേര്വീതം മാറി മാറി ലെബാനോനിലേക്കു അയച്ചു; അവര് ഒരു മാസം ലെബാനോനിലും രണ്ടുമാസം വീട്ടിലും ആയിരുന്നു; അദോനീരാം ഊഴിയവേലക്കാര്ക്കും മേധാവി ആയിരുന്നു.

14. and he sendeth them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month, by changes, a month they are in Lebanon, two months in their own house; and Adoniram [is] over the tribute.

15. വേല ചെയ്യുന്ന ജനത്തെ ഭരിച്ചു വേല നടത്തുന്ന മൂവായിരത്തിമുന്നൂറു പ്രധാനകാര്യക്കാരന്മാരൊഴികെ

15. And king Solomon hath seventy thousand bearing burdens, and eighty thousand hewing in the mountain,

16. ശലോമോന്നു എഴുപതിനായിരം ചുമട്ടുകാരും മലയില് എണ്പതിനായിരം കല്ലുവെട്ടുകാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

16. apart from the heads of the officers of Solomon, who [are] over the work, three thousand and three hundred, those ruling over the people who are working in the business.

17. ആലയത്തിന്നു ചെത്തിയ കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇടുവാന് അവര് രാജകല്പനപ്രകാരം വിശേഷപ്പെട്ട വലിയകല്ലു വെട്ടി.

17. And the king commandeth, and they bring great stones, precious stone, to lay the foundation of the house, hewn stones;

18. ശലോമോന്റെ ശില്പികളും, ഹീരാമിന്റെ ശില്പികളും ഗെബാല്യരും ആലയപ്പണിക്കായി മരവും കല്ലും ചെത്തി ഒരുക്കി.

18. and the builders of Solomon, and the builders of Hiram, and the Giblites hew, and prepare the wood and the stones to build the house.
