1. അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ നയമാന് മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവ അരാമിന്നു ജയം നല്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ യജമാനന് അവനെ മഹാനും മാന്യനും ആയി എണ്ണി; അവന് പരാക്രമശാലി എങ്കിലും കുഷ്ഠരോഗി ആയിരുന്നു.

1. Na'aman, commander of the king of Aram's army, was highly respected and esteemed by his master; because through him ADONAI had brought victory to Aram. But although he was a brave warrior, he also suffered from [tzara'at].

2. അരാമ്യര് കവര്ച്ചപ്പടയായി വന്നിരുന്നപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഒരു ചെറിയ പെണ്കുട്ടിയെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പോയിരുന്നു; അവള് നയമാന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുവന്നു.

2. Now on one of their raids into Isra'el's territory, Aram carried away captive a little girl, who became a servant for Na'aman's wife.

3. അവള് തന്റെ യജമാനത്തിയോടുയജമാനന് ശമര്യ്യയിലെ പ്രവാചകന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒന്നു ചെന്നെങ്കില് അവന് അവന്റെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗം മാറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. She said to her mistress, 'I wish my lord could go to the prophet in Shomron! He could heal his [tzara'at].'

4. അവന് ചെന്നു തന്റെ യജമാനനോടുയിസ്രായേല്ദേശക്കാരത്തിയായ പെണ്കുട്ടി ഇന്നിന്നപ്രകാരം സംസാരിച്ചു എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

4. Na'aman went in and told his lord, 'The girl from the land of Isra'el said such-and-such.'

5. നീ പോയി വരിക; ഞാന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിന്നു ഒരു എഴുത്തു തരാം എന്നു അരാംരാജാവു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവന് പത്തു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും ആറായിരം ശേക്കെല് പൊന്നും പത്തു കൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രവും എടുത്തു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

5. The king of Aram said, 'Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Isra'el.' He set out, taking with him 660 pounds of silver, 6,000 pieces of gold and ten changes of clothes.

6. അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് എഴുത്തുംകൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു; അതില്ഈ എഴുത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന എന്റെ ഭൃത്യന് നയമാന്റെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗം നീ മാറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവനെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

6. He brought the king of Isra'el the letter, which said, 'When this letter reaches you, you will see that I have sent my servant Na'aman to you, so that you can heal his [tzara'at].'

7. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു എഴുത്തു വായിച്ചപ്പോള് വസ്ത്രം കീറിഅവന് ഇതാ, കുഷ്ഠരോഗം മാറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരാളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു! മരിപ്പിക്കയും ജീവിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്വാന് ഞാന് ദൈവമോ? നോക്കുവിന് , അവന് ഇതിനാല് എന്നോടു ശണ്ഠെക്കു കാരണം അന്വേഷിക്കയല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. When the king of Isra'el finished reading the letter, he tore his clothes. 'Am I God, able to kill and make alive,' he asked, 'so that he sends me a man to heal of [tzara'at]? You can see that he is only seeking an excuse to quarrel with me.'

8. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു വസ്ത്രം കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷനായ എലീശാ കേട്ടപ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുനീ വസ്ത്രം കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞതു എന്തു? അവന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരട്ടെ; എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേലില് ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവന് അറിയും എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

8. But when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Isra'el had torn his clothes, he sent a message to the king: 'Why did you tear your clothes? Just have him come to me, and he will know that there is a prophet in Isra'el.'

9. അങ്ങനെ നയമാന് രഥത്തോടും കുതിരകളോടുംകൂടെ എലീശയുടെ വീട്ടുവാതില്ക്കല് വന്നു നിന്നു.

9. So Na'aman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha's house.

10. എലീശാ ആളയച്ചുനീ ചെന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാനില് ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം കുളിക്ക; അപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ദേഹം മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെയായി നീ ശുദ്ധനാകും എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

10. Elisha sent a messenger to him, who said, 'Go, and bathe in the Yarden seven times. Your skin will become as it was, and you will be clean.'

11. അപ്പോള് നയമാന് ഏറ്റവും ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു പുറപ്പെട്ടുഅവന് തന്നേ പുറത്തുവന്നു അടുത്തുനിന്നു തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തെ വിളിച്ചു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു തന്റെ കൈ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്മീതെ ആട്ടി ഇങ്ങനെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചു.

11. But Na'aman became angry and left, saying, 'Here now! I thought for certain that he would come out personally, that he would stand, call on the name of ADONAI his God and wave his hand over the diseased place and thus heal the person with [tzara'at].

12. ദമ്മേശെക്കിലെ നദികളായ അബാനയും പര്പ്പരും യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തിലെ എല്ലാ വെള്ളങ്ങളെക്കാളും നല്ലതല്ലയോ? എനിക്കു അവയില് കുളിച്ചു ശുദ്ധനാകരുതോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന് ക്രോധത്തോടെ പോയി.

12. Aren't Amanah and Parpar, the rivers of Dammesek, better than all the water in Isra'el? Why can't I bathe in them and be clean?' So he turned and went off in a rage.

13. എന്നാല് അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് അടുത്തു വന്നു അവനോടുപിതാവേ, പ്രവാചകന് വലിയോരു കാര്യം നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നുവെങ്കില് നീ ചെയ്യാതെ ഇരിക്കുമോ? പിന്നെ അവന് കുളിച്ചു ശുദ്ധനാക എന്നു നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചാല് എത്ര അധികം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. But his servants approached him and said, 'My father! If the prophet had asked you to do something really difficult, wouldn't you have done it? So, doesn't it make even more sense to do what he says, when it's only, 'Bathe, and be clean'?'

14. അപ്പോള് അവന് ചെന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ വചനപ്രകാരം യോര്ദ്ദാനില് ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം മുങ്ങി; അവന്റെ ദേഹം ചെറിയ ബാലന്റെ ദേഹം പോലെ ആയി; അവന് ശുദ്ധനായ്തീര്ന്നു.

14. So he went down and immersed himself seven times in the Yarden, as the man of God had said to do; and his skin was restored and became like the skin of a child; and he became clean.

15. പിന്നെ അവന് തന്റെ സകലപരിവാരവുമായി ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങി വന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു; യിസ്രായേലില് അല്ലാതെ ഭൂമിയില് എങ്ങും ഒരു ദൈവം ഇല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് അറിയുന്നു; ആകയാല് അടിയന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു ഒരു പ്രതിഗ്രഹം കൈക്കൊള്ളേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Then, with his whole retinue, he returned to the man of God, went and stood before him, and said, 'Well, I've learned that there is no God in all the earth except in Isra'el; therefore, please accept a present from your servant.'

16. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് സേവിച്ചുനിലക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് ഒന്നും കൈക്കൊള്ളുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. കൈക്കൊള്വാന് അവനെ നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചിട്ടും അവന് വാങ്ങിയില്ല.

16. But Elisha answered, 'As ADONAI lives, before whom I stand, I will not accept it.' And despite his urging him to take it, he refused.

17. അപ്പോള് നയമാന് എന്നാല് രണ്ടു കോവര്ക്കഴുതച്ചുമടു മണ്ണു അടിയന്നു തരുവിക്കേണമേ; അടിയന് ഇനി യഹോവെക്കല്ലാതെ അന്യദൈവങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹോമയാഗവും ഹനനയാഗവും കഴിക്കയില്ല.

17. So Na'aman said, 'If you won't take it, then please let your servant be given as much earth as two mules can carry; because from now on, your servant will offer neither burnt offerings nor sacrifices to other gods, but only to ADONAI.

18. ഒരു കാര്യത്തില് മാത്രം യഹോവ അടിയനോടു ക്ഷമിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെഎന്റെ യജമാനന് നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് രിമ്മോന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് ചെന്നു എന്റെ കൈത്താങ്ങലോടെ കുമ്പിടുമ്പോള് ഞാനും രിമ്മോന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് നമസ്കരിച്ചുപോകുന്ന ഈ കാര്യത്തില് യഹോവ അടിയനോടു ക്ഷമിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

18. Except this, and may ADONAI forgive your servant for it: when my master goes into the temple of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I bow down in the temple of Rimmon- when I bow down, may ADONAI forgive your servant for this.'

19. അവന് അവനോടുസമാധാനത്തോടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Elisha said to him, 'Go in peace.' Na'aman had gone only a short distance from him,

20. അവന് അവനെ വിട്ടു കുറെ ദൂരം പോയശേഷം ദൈവപുരുഷനായ എലീശയുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരന് ഗേഹസിഅരാമ്യന് നയമാന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്റെ യജമാനന് അവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങാതെ വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവനോടു അല്പമെങ്കിലും വാങ്ങുമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. when Geichazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, 'Here, my master has made it easy on this Arami Na'aman by not accepting from him what he brought. As ADONAI lives, I'll run after him and get at least something from him.'

21. അങ്ങനെ അവന് നയമാനെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു. അവന് തന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഔടിവരുന്നതു നയമാന് കണ്ടപ്പോള് രഥത്തില്നിന്നിറങ്ങി അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുസുഖം തന്നെയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

21. So Geichazi hurried off after Na'aman. When Na'aman saw someone running after him, he got down from his chariot to meet him and asked, 'Is everything all right?'

22. അതിന്നു അവന് സുഖം തന്നേ; ഇപ്പോള് തന്നേ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാരില് രണ്ടു യൌവനക്കാര് എഫ്ര്യയീംമലനാട്ടില്നിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും ഒരു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും രണ്ടു കൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രവും തരേണമേ എന്നു പറവാന് എന്റെ യജമാനന് എന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. 'Yes,' he replied. 'My master sent me with this message: 'Two young men have just now come to me, guild prophets from the hills of Efrayim. Would you be kind enough to give them a talent of silver [[sixty-six pounds]] and two changes of clothes?'

23. ദയ ചെയ്തു രണ്ടു താലന്തു വാങ്ങേണമേ എന്നു നയമാന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവനെ നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചു രണ്ടു സഞ്ചിയില് രണ്ടു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും രണ്ടു കൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രവും കെട്ടി തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരില് രണ്ടുപേരുടെ പക്കല് കൊടുത്തു; അവര് അതു ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് നടന്നു.

23. 'By all means, take two talents!' said Na'aman, pressing him. He tied up the two talents of silver in two bags and gave them, with the two changes of clothes, to two of his servants, who carried them ahead of Geichazi.

24. കുന്നിന്നരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവന് അതു അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങി വീട്ടില് സൂക്ഷിച്ചു വെച്ചിട്ടു ബാല്യക്കാരെ അയച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവര് പോകയും ചെയ്തു.

24. On reaching the hill, he took the bags from them and put them away in the house. Then he let the men go, and they left.

25. പിന്നെ അവന് അകത്തു കടന്നു യജമാനന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു. എന്നാറെ എലീശാ അവനോടുഗേഹസിയേ, നീ എവിടെ പോയിരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അടിയന് എങ്ങും പോയില്ല എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

25. He went in and stood before his master. Elisha asked, 'Where have you been, Geichazi?' 'Your servant hasn't gone anywhere,' he said.

26. അതിന്നു അവന് ആ പുരുഷന് രഥത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി നിന്നെ എതിരേറ്റപ്പോള് എന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിന്നോടു കൂടെ പോന്നിരുന്നില്ലയോ? ദ്രവ്യം സമ്പാദിപ്പാനും വസ്ത്രം, ഒലിവുതോട്ടം, മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം, ആടുമാടുകള്, ദാസീദാസന്മാര് എന്നീവകമേടിപ്പാനും ഇതാകുന്നുവോ സമയം?

26. Elisha said to him, 'Wasn't my heart there with you when the man left his chariot to meet you? Is this a time to receive silver and clothing- and olive groves and vineyards and sheep and oxen and male and female slaves?

27. ആകയാല് നയമാന്റെ കുഷ്ഠം നിനക്കും നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും എന്നേക്കും പിടിച്ചിരിക്കും എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് ഹിമംപോലെ വെളുത്തു കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായി അവനെ വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

27. Therefore Na'aman's [tzara'at] will cling to you and your descendants forever.' He left Elisha's presence with [tzara'at] as white as snow.
