1. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെരൂശലേമില് തന്റെ അരമനയിലേക്കു സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവന്നപ്പോള്

1. And Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, went back to his house in Jerusalem in peace.

2. ഹനാനിയുടെ മകനായ യേഹൂദര്ശകന് അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് രാജാവിനോടുദുഷ്ടന്നു സഹായം ചെയ്യുന്നതു വിഹിതമോ? യഹോവയെ പകെക്കുന്നവരോടു നീ സ്നേഹം കാണിക്കുന്നുവോ അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു കോപം നിന്റെമേല് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. And Jehu, the son of Hanani the seer, went to King Jehoshaphat and said to him, Is it right for you to go to the help of evil-doers, loving the haters of the Lord? because of this, the wrath of the Lord has come on you.

3. എങ്കിലും നീ അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെ നീക്കിക്കളകയും ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാന് മനസ്സുവെക്കയും ചെയ്തതിനാല് നന്മയും നിന്നില് കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. But still there is some good in you, for you have put away the wood pillars out of the land, and have given your heart to the worship of God.

4. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെരൂശലേമില് പാര്ത്തു, ബേര്-ശേബമുതല് എഫ്രയീംമലനാടുവരെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് വീണ്ടും സഞ്ചരിച്ചു അവരെ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചു വരുത്തി.

4. And Jehoshaphat was living in Jerusalem; and he went out again among the people, from Beer-sheba to the hill-country of Ephraim, guiding them back to the Lord, the God of their fathers.

5. അവന് ദേശത്തു പട്ടണംതോറും യെഹൂദയിലെ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിലൊക്കെയും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരെ നിയമിച്ചു

5. And he put judges through all the land, in every walled town of Judah,

6. നിങ്ങള് ചെയ്യുന്നതു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് ; നിങ്ങള് മനുഷ്യര്ക്കല്ല, യഹോവേക്കു വേണ്ടിയത്രേ ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്യുന്നതു; ന്യായപാലനത്തില് അവന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

6. And said to the judges, Take care what you do, for you are judging not for man but for the Lord, and he is with you in the decisions you give.

7. ആകയാല് യഹോവാഭയം നിങ്ങളില് ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; സൂക്ഷിച്ചു പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് ; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ പക്കല് അന്യായവും മുഖപക്ഷവും കൈക്കൂലി വാങ്ങുന്നതും ഇല്ലല്ലോ.

7. So now let the fear of the Lord be in you; do your work with care; for in the Lord our God there is no evil, or respect for high position, or taking of payment to do wrong.

8. യെരൂശലേമിലും യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ലേവ്യരിലും പുരോഹിതന്മാരിലും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരിലും ചിലരെ യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപാലനത്തിന്നായിട്ടും വ്യവഹാരം തീക്കേണ്ടതിന്നായിട്ടും നിയമിച്ചു; അവര് യെരൂശലേമില് മടങ്ങിവന്നു. അവന് അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് യഹോവാ ഭയത്തോടും വിശ്വസ്തതയോടും ഏകാഗ്രഹൃദയത്തോടും കൂടെ ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം.

8. Then in Jerusalem he gave authority to certain of the Levites and the priests and the heads of families of Israel to give decisions for the Lord, and in the causes of those living in Jerusalem.

9. അതതു പട്ടണത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാര് വിവിധരക്തപാതകങ്ങളെയും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെയും കല്പനയെയും ചട്ടങ്ങളെയും വിധികളെയും സംബന്ധിച്ചു ഏതൊരു വ്യവഹാരവും നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നാല്, അവര് യഹോവയോടു അകൃത്യം ചെയ്തിട്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെമേലും നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെമേലും ക്രോധം വരാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിച്ചുകൊടുക്കേണം; നിങ്ങള് കുറ്റക്കാരാകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തുകൊള്വിന് .

9. And he gave them their orders, saying, You are to do your work in the fear of the Lord, in good faith and with a true heart.

10. ഇതാ, മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ അമര്യ്യാവു യഹോവയുടെ എല്ലാകാര്യത്തിലും യെഹൂദാഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭുവായ യിശ്മായേലിന്റെ മകന് സെബദ്യാവു രാജാവിന്റെ എല്ലാകാര്യത്തിലും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തലവന്മാരായിരിക്കുന്നു; ലേവ്യരും ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരായി നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഉണ്ടു. ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് ; യഹോവ നല്ലവരോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും.

10. And if any cause comes before you from your brothers living in their towns, where the death punishment is in question, or where there are questions of law or order, or rules or decisions, make them take care that they are not in the wrong before the Lord, so that wrath may not come on you and on your brothers; do this and you yourselves will not be in the wrong.
