1. അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then responded Job, and said:

2. ഞാന് ഈവക പലതും കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; നിങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും വ്യസനിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആശ്വാസകന്മാര്.

2. I have heard many such things, Wearisome comforters, are ye all!

3. വ്യര്ത്ഥവാക്കുകള്ക്കു അവസാനം ഉണ്ടാകുമോ? അല്ല, പ്രതിവാദിപ്പാന് നിന്നെ ചൊടിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

3. Is there to be an end to windy words? Or what so strongly exciteth thee, that thou must respond?

4. നിങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ ഞാനും സംസാരിക്കാം; എനിക്കുള്ള അനുഭവം നിങ്ങള്ക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെങ്കില് എനിക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ മൊഴികളെ യോജിപ്പിക്കയും നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു തല കുലുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യാമായിരുന്നു.

4. I also, like you, could speak, If your soul were in the place of my soul, I could string together words against you, and could therewith shake over you my head.

5. ഞാന് വായികൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തുകയും അധരസാന്ത്വനംകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു.

5. I could make you determined, by my mouth, and then my lip-solace should restrain you.

6. ഞാന് സംസാരിച്ചാലും എന്റെ വേദന ശമിക്കുന്നില്ല; ഞാന് അടങ്ങിയിരുന്നാലും എനിക്കെന്തു ആശ്വാസമുള്ളു?

6. Though I do speak, unassuaged is my stinging pain, And, if I forbear, of what am I relieved?

7. ഇപ്പോഴോ അവന് എന്നെ ക്ഷീണിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ എന്റെ ബന്ധുവര്ഗ്ഗത്തെയൊക്കെയും ശൂന്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. But, now, hath he wearied me, thou hast destroyed all my family;

8. നീ എന്നെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു എന്റെ നേരെ സാക്ഷ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ മെലിച്ചല് എനിക്കു വിരോധമായെഴുന്നേറ്റു എന്റെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു.

8. And, having captured me, it hath served, as a witness; and so my wasting away hath risen up against me, in my face, it answereth.

9. അവന് കോപത്തില് എന്നെ കീറി ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്നു; അവന് എന്റെ നേരെ പല്ലു കടിക്കുന്നു; ശത്രു എന്റെ നേരെ കണ്ണു കൂര്പ്പിക്കുന്നു.

9. His anger, hath torn and persecuted me, He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth, Mine adversary, hath sharpened his eyes for me.

10. അവര് എന്റെ നേരെ വായ്പിളര്ക്കുംന്നു; നിന്ദയോടെ അവര് എന്റെ ചെകിട്ടത്തടിക്കുന്നു; അവര് എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടം കൂടുന്നു.

10. They have gaped upon me with their mouth, With reproach, have they smitten my cheek, Together, against me, have they closed their ranks.

11. ദൈവം എന്നെ അഭക്തന്റെ പക്കല് ഏല്പിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് എന്നെ അകപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.

11. GOD doth abandon me to him that is perverse, and, into the hands of the lawless, he throweth me headlong.

12. ഞാന് സ്വൈരമായി വസിച്ചിരുന്നു; അവനോ എന്നെ ചതെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവന് എന്നെ പിടരിക്കു പിടിച്ചു തകര്ത്തുകളഞ്ഞു; എന്നെ തനിക്കു ലാക്കാക്കി നിര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. At ease, was I when he shattered me, Yea he seized me by my neck, and dashed me in pieces, then set me up for himself as a mark:

13. അവന്റെ അസ്ത്രങ്ങള് എന്റെ ചുറ്റും വീഴുന്നു; അവന് ആദരിക്കാതെ എന്റെ അന്തര്ഭാഗങ്ങളെ പിളര്ക്കുംന്നു; എന്റെ പിത്തത്തെ നിലത്തു ഒഴിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

13. His archers came round against me, He clave asunder my reins, and spared not, He poured out, on the earth, my gall:

14. അവന് എന്നെ ഇടിച്ചിടിച്ചു തകര്ക്കുംന്നു; മല്ലനെപ്പോലെ എന്റെ നേരെ പായുന്നു.

14. He made a breach in me, breach upon breach, He ran upon me, like a mighty man.

15. ഞാന് രട്ടു എന്റെ ത്വക്കിന്മേല് കൂട്ടിത്തുന്നി, എന്റെ കൊമ്പിനെ പൊടിയില് ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. Sackcloth, sewed I on my skin, and rolled in the dust my horn:

16. കരഞ്ഞു കരഞ്ഞു എന്റെ മുഖം ചുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേല് അന്ധതമസ്സു കിടക്കുന്നു.

16. My face, is reddened from weeping, and, upon mine eyelashes, is the death-shade:

17. എങ്കിലും സാഹസം എന്റെ കൈകളില് ഇല്ല. എന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന നിര്മ്മലമത്രേ.

17. Though no violence was in my hands, and, my prayer, was pure.

18. അയ്യോ ഭൂമിയേ, എന്റെ രക്തം മൂടരുതേ; എന്റെ നിലവിളി എങ്ങും തടഞ്ഞുപോകരുതേ.

18. O earth! do not cover my blood, and let there be no place for mine outcry.

19. ഇപ്പോഴും എന്റെ സാക്ഷി സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലും എന്റെ ജാമ്യക്കാരന് ഉയരത്തിലും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

19. Even now, lo! in the heavens, is my witness,

20. എന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാര് എന്നെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കണ്ണോ ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു കണ്ണുനീര് പൊഴിക്കുന്നു.

20. And, he that voucheth for me is on high. My friends are, they who scorn me, Unto GOD, hath mine eye shed tears:

21. അവന് മനുഷ്യന്നു വേണ്ടി ദൈവത്തോടും മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്നു വേണ്ടി അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനോടും ന്യായവാദം കഴിക്കും.

21. That one might plead, for a man, with GOD, Even a son of man, for his friend!

22. ചില ആണ്ടു കഴിയുമ്പോഴേക്കു ഞാന് മടങ്ങിവരാത്ത പാതെക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരുമല്ലോ.

22. When, a few years, come, then, by a path by which I shall not return, shall I depart.
