1. യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തെന്നാല്

1. The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, With the point of a diamond, Graven on the tablet of their heart, And on the horns of your altars,

2. നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു കുശവന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുക; അവിടെവെച്ചു ഞാന് നിന്നെ എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്പ്പിക്കും.

2. As their sons remember their altars and their shrines, By the green tree, by the high hills.

3. അങ്ങനെ ഞാന് കുശവന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നപ്പോള് അവന് ചക്രത്തിന്മേല് വേല ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

3. O My mountain in the field -- thy strength, All thy treasures -- for a prey I give, Thy high places for sin in all thy borders.

4. കുശവന് കളിമണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ പാത്രം അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ചീത്തയായിപ്പോയി; എന്നാല് കുശവന് അതിനെ തനിക്കു തോന്നിയതുപോലെ മറ്റൊരു പാത്രമാക്കിത്തീര്ത്തു.

4. And thou hast let go -- even through thyself, Of thine inheritance that I gave to thee, And I have caused thee to serve thine enemies, In a land that thou hast not known, For a fire ye have kindled in Mine anger, Unto the age it doth burn.

5. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

5. Thus said Jehovah: Cursed [is] the man who doth trust in man, And hath made flesh his arm, And from Jehovah whose heart turneth.

6. യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, ഈ കുശവന് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ എനിക്കു നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്വാന് കഴികയില്ലയോ എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, കളിമണ്ണു കുശവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

6. And he hath been as a naked thing in a desert, And doth not see when good cometh, And hath inhabited parched places in a wilderness, A salt land, and not inhabited.

7. ഞാന് ഒരു ജാതിയെക്കുറിച്ചോ രാജ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ അതിനെ പറിച്ചു ഇടിച്ചു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടു

7. Blessed [is] the man who trusteth in Jehovah, And whose confidence hath been Jehovah.

8. ഞാന് അങ്ങനെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ജാതി തന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടു തിരിയുന്നുവെങ്കില് അതിനോടു ചെയ്വാന് നിരൂപിച്ച ദോഷത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് അനുതപിക്കും.

8. And hath been as a tree planted by waters, And by a rivulet he sendeth forth his roots, And he doth not see when heat cometh, And his leaf hath been green, And in a year of dearth he is not sorrowful, Nor doth he cease from making fruit.

9. ഒരു ജാതിയെക്കുറിച്ചോ രാജ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ ഞാന് അതിനെ പണികയും നടുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടു

9. Crooked [is] the heart above all things, And it [is] incurable -- who doth know it?

10. അതു എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിക്കാതെ എനിക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്യുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവര്ക്കും വരുത്തും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത നന്മയെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് അനുതപിക്കും.

10. I Jehovah do search the heart, try the reins, Even to give to each according to his way, According to the fruit of his doings.

11. ആകയാല് നീ ചെന്നു യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോടും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളോടും പറയേണ്ടതുയഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരനര്ത്ഥം നിര്മ്മിച്ചു, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിരോധമായി ഒരു നിരൂപണം നിരൂപിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തനും താന്താന്റെ ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളുടെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും നന്നാക്കുവിന് .

11. A partridge hatching, and not bringing forth, [Is] one making wealth, and not by right, In the midst of his days he doth forsake it, And in his latter end -- he is a fool.

12. അതിന്നു അവര്ഇതു വെറുതെ; ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ സ്വന്ത നിരൂപണങ്ങള് അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കും; ഞങ്ങളില് ഔരോരുത്തനും താന്താന്റെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിലെ ശാഠ്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. A throne of honour on high from the beginning, The place of our sanctuary,

13. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ചെന്നു അന്വേഷിപ്പിന് ; ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളതു ആരെങ്കിലും കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ? യിസ്രായേല്കന്യക അതിഭയങ്കരമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. The hope of Israel [is] Jehovah, All forsaking Thee are ashamed, And 'My apostates' in the earth are written, For they have forsaken Jehovah, A fountain of living waters.

14. ലെബാനോനിലെ ഹിമം വയലിലെ പാറയെ വിട്ടുപോകുമോ? അന്യദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഒഴുകിവരുന്ന തണുത്ത വെള്ളം വറ്റിപ്പോകുമേ?

14. Heal me, O Jehovah, and I am healed, Save me, and I am saved, for my praise [art] Thou.

15. എന്റെ ജനമോ എന്നെ മറന്നു മിത്ഥ്യാമൂര്ത്തികള്ക്കു, ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നു; അവരുടെ വഴികളില്, പുരാതന പാതകളില് തന്നേ, അവര് അവരെ ഇടറി വീഴുമാറാക്കി; അവര് നിരപ്പില്ലാത്ത വഴികളിലും പാതകളിലും നടക്കുന്നു;

15. Lo, they are saying unto me: 'Where [is] the word of Jehovah? pray, let it come.'

16. അവര് അവരുടെ ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യവും നിത്യപരിഹാസവും ആക്കുന്നു; അതില്കൂടി കടന്നു പോകുന്ന ഏവനും സ്തംഭിച്ചു തലകുലുക്കും.

16. And I hastened not from feeding after Thee, And the desperate day I have not desired, Thou -- Thou hast known, The produce of my lips, before Thy face it hath been,

17. കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റുകൊണ്ടെന്നപോലെ ഞാന് അവരെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ മുമ്പില് ചിതറിച്ചുകളയും; അവരുടെ അനര്ത്ഥദിവസത്തില് ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും എന്റെ മുഖമല്ല, പുറമത്രേ കാണിക്കും.

17. Be not Thou to me for a terror, My hope [art] Thou in a day of evil.

18. എന്നാല് അവര്വരുവിന് , നമുക്കു യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ നേരെ ഉപായങ്ങളെ ചിന്തിക്കാം; പുരോഹിതന്റെ പക്കല് ഉപദേശവും ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പക്കല് ആലോചനയും പ്രവാചകന്റെ പക്കല് അരുളപ്പാടും ഇല്ലാതെപോകയില്ല; വരുവിന് നാം അവനെ നാവുകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നുകളക; അവന്റെ വാക്കു ഒന്നും നാം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Let my pursuers be ashamed, and let not me be ashamed -- me! Let them be affrighted, and let not me be affrighted -- me! Bring in on them a day of evil, And a second time [with] destruction destroy them.

19. യഹോവേ, എനിക്കു ചെവിതന്നു എന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗികളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കേണമേ.

19. Thus said Jehovah unto me: 'Go, and thou hast stood in the gate of the sons of the people, by which kings of Judah come in, and by which they go out, and in all gates of Jerusalem,

20. നന്മെക്കു പകരം തിന്മ ചെയ്യാമോ? അവര് എന്റെ പ്രാണഹാനിക്കായിട്ടു ഒരു കുഴി കുഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ കോപം അവരെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവര്ക്കുംവേണ്ടി നന്മ സംസാരിപ്പാന് തിരുമുമ്പില് നിന്നതു ഔര്ക്കേണമേ.

20. and thou hast said unto them: Hear a word of Jehovah, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all inhabitants of Jerusalem, who are coming in by these gates,

21. അവരുടെ മക്കളെ ക്ഷാമത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചു, വാളിന്നു ഇരയാക്കേണമേ; അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാര് മക്കളില്ലാത്തവരും വിധവമാരും ആയിത്തീരട്ടെ അവരുടെ പുരുഷന്മാര് മരണത്തിന്നു ഇരയാകട്ടെ; അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാര് യുദ്ധത്തില് വാളിനാല് പട്ടുപോകട്ടെ.

21. Thus said Jehovah, Take ye heed to yourselves, And ye bear not a burden on the day of rest, Nor have ye brought [it] in by the gates of Jerusalem.

22. നീ പെട്ടെന്നു ഒരു പടക്കൂട്ടത്തെ അവരുടെ മേല് വരുത്തീട്ടു അവരുടെ വീടുകളില്നിന്നു നിലവിളി കേള്ക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; അവര് എന്നെ പിടിപ്പാന് ഒരു കുഴി കുഴിച്ചു, എന്റെ കാലിന്നു കണി മറെച്ചുവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

22. Nor do ye take out a burden from your houses on the day of rest, Yea, any work ye do not do, And ye have sanctified the day of rest, As I have commanded your fathers.

23. യഹോവേ, എന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നായുള്ള അവരുടെ ആലോചനയൊക്കെയും നീ അറിയുന്നു; അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിക്കരുതേ; അവരുടെ പാപം നിന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു മായിച്ചുകളയരുതേ; അവര് തിരുമുമ്പില് ഇടറിവീഴട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ കാലത്തു തന്നേ അവരോടു പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കേണമേ.

23. And they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, And they stiffen their neck not to hear, And not to receive instruction.
