1. In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, saying:

2. യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അത്യന്തം കോപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. The LORD was very angry with your ancestors.

3. ആകയാല് നീ അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുസൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഎങ്കലേക്കു തിരിവിന് എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; എന്നാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും തിരിയും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

3. Therefore say to them, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts.

4. നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ ആയിത്തീരരുതു; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളെയും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികളെയും വിട്ടുതിരിവിന് എന്നിങ്ങനെ പണ്ടത്തെ പ്രവാചകന്മാര് അവരോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചിട്ടും അവര് കേള്ക്കയോ എനിക്കു ചെവി തരികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

4. Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, Thus says the LORD of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds. But they did not hear or heed me, says the LORD.

5. നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് എവിടെ? പ്രവാചകന്മാര് സദാകാലം ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ?

5. Your ancestors, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?

6. But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your ancestors? So they repented and said, The LORD of hosts has dealt with us according to our ways and deeds, just as he planned to do.

7. On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo; and Zechariah said,

8. ഞാന് രാത്രിയില് ചുവന്ന കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പുരുഷനെ കണ്ടു; അവന് ചോലയിലെ കൊഴുന്തുകളുടെ ഇടയില് നിന്നു; അവന്റെ പിമ്പില് ചുവപ്പും കുരാല്നിറവും വെണ്മയും ഉള്ള കുതിരകള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

8. In the night I saw a man riding on a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen; and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses.

9. യജമാനനേ, ഇവര് ആരാകുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ദൂതന് ഇവര് ആരെന്നു ഞാന് നിനക്കു കാണിച്ചുതരാം എന്നു എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then I said, What are these, my lord? The angel who talked with me said to me, I will show you what they are.

10. എന്നാല് കൊഴുന്തുകളുടെ ഇടയില് നിലക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന് ഇവര് ഭൂമിയില് ഊടാടി സഞ്ചരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവര് തന്നേ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

10. So the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, They are those whom the LORD has sent to patrol the earth.

11. അവര് കൊഴുന്തുകളുടെ ഇടയില് നിലക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതനോടുഞങ്ങള് ഭൂമിയില് ഊടാടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു, സര്വ്വഭൂമിയും സ്വസ്ഥമായി വിശ്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Then they spoke to the angel of the LORD who was standing among the myrtle trees, We have patrolled the earth, and lo, the whole earth remains at peace.

12. എന്നാറെ യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവേ, ഈ എഴുപതു സംവത്സരം നീ ക്രൂദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യെരൂശലേമിനോടും യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളോടും നീ എത്രത്തോളം കരുണ കാണിക്കാതിരിക്കും എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

12. Then the angel of the LORD said, O LORD of hosts, how long will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with which you have been angry these seventy years?

13. അതിന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ദൂതനോടു നല്ല വാക്കും ആശ്വാസകരമായ വാക്കും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

13. Then the LORD replied with gracious and comforting words to the angel who talked with me.

14. എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ദൂതന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനീ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് യെരൂശലേമിന്നും സീയോന്നും വേണ്ടി മഹാ തീക്ഷണതയോടെ എരിയുന്നു.

14. So the angel who talked with me said to me, Proclaim this message: Thus says the LORD of hosts; I am very jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion.

15. ഞാന് അല്പം മാത്രം കോപിച്ചിരിക്കെ അവര് അനര്ത്ഥത്തിന്നായി സഹായിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു സ്വൈരമായിരിക്കുന്ന ജാതികളോടു ഞാന് അത്യന്തം കോപിക്കുന്നു.

15. And I am extremely angry with the nations that are at ease; for while I was only a little angry, they made the disaster worse.

16. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് കരുണയോടെ യെരൂശലേമിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ആലയം അതില് പണിയും; യെരൂശലേമിന്മേല് അളവുനൂല് പിടിക്കും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

16. Therefore, thus says the LORD, I have returned to Jerusalem with compassion; my house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts, and the measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.

17. നീ ഇനിയും പ്രസംഗിച്ചു പറയേണ്ടതുസൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഎന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങള് ഇനിയും അഭിവൃദ്ധിഹേതുവായി വിശാലത പ്രാപിക്കും; യഹോവ ഇനിയും സീയോനെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കയും ഇനിയും യെരൂശലേമിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

17. Proclaim further: Thus says the LORD of hosts: My cities shall again overflow with prosperity; the LORD will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.
