1. അനന്തരം ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോടുഇവിടെ എനിക്കു ഏഴു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു ഏഴു കാളയെയും ഏഴു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും ഒരുക്കിനിര്ത്തുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Balaam said to Balak, 'Build me seven altars here. Prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me to sacrifice.'

2. ബിലെയാം പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ബാലാക് ചെയ്തു; ബാലാക്കും ബിലെയാമും ഔരോ പീഠത്തിന്മേലും ഒരു കാളയെയും ഒരു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും യാഗം കഴിച്ചു;

2. Balak did just as Balaam said. The two of them offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

3. പിന്നെ ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോടുനിന്റെ ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് നില്ക്ക; ഞാന് അങ്ങോട്ടു ചെല്ലട്ടെ; പക്ഷേ യഹോവ എനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകും; അവന് എന്നെ ദര്ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു അറിയിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു കുന്നിന്മേല് കയറി.

3. Then Balaam said to Balak, 'Stay here beside your offering. I'll go and try to find out what the Lord wants me to do. Maybe he'll come and meet with me. Then I'll tell you what he says to me.' So Balaam went off to a bare hilltop.

4. ദൈവം ബിലെയാമിന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി; ബിലെയാം അവനോടുഞാന് ഏഴു പിഠം ഒരുക്കി ഔരോ പീഠത്തിന്മേല് ഒരു കാളയെയും ഒരു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും യാഗം കഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. God met with him there. Balaam said, 'I've prepared seven altars. On each altar I've offered a bull and a ram.'

5. എന്നാറെ യഹോവ ഒരു വചനം ബിലെയാമിന്റെ നാവിന്മേല് ആക്കിക്കൊടുത്തുനീ ബാലാക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു ഇപ്രകാരം പറയേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

5. The Lord put a message in Balaam's mouth. The Lord said, 'Go back to Balak. Give him my message.'

6. അവന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു; അവനും മോവാബ്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് എല്ലാവരും ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് നിന്നിരുന്നു.

6. So Balaam went back to him. He found Balak standing beside his offering. All of the princes of Moab were with him.

7. അപ്പോള് അവന് സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിത്തുടങ്ങിയതുബാലാക് എന്നെ അരാമില്നിന്നും മോവാബ്രാജാവു പൂര്വ്വപര്വ്വതങ്ങളില്നിന്നും വരുത്തിചെന്നു യാക്കോബിനെ ശപിക്ക; ചെന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനെ പ്രാകുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Then Balaam spoke the message he had received from God. He said, 'Balak brought me from the land of Aram. The king of Moab sent for me from the mountains in the east. 'Come,' he said. 'Put a curse on Jacob's people for me. Come. Speak against Israel.'

8. ദൈവം ശപിക്കാത്തവനെ ഞാന് എങ്ങനെ ശപിക്കും? യഹോവ പ്രാകാത്തവനെ ഞാന് എങ്ങനെ പ്രാകും?

8. But how can I put a curse on people God hasn't cursed? How can I speak against people the Lord hasn't spoken against?

9. ശിലാഗ്രങ്ങളില്നിന്നു ഞാന് അവനെ കാണുന്നു; ഗിരികളില്നിന്നു ഞാന് അവനെ ദര്ശിക്കുന്നു; ഇതാ തനിച്ചു പാര്ക്കുംന്നോരു ജനം; ജാതികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് എണ്ണപ്പെടുന്നതുമില്ല.

9. I see them from the rocky peaks. I view them from the hills. I see a group of people who live by themselves. They don't consider themselves to be one of the nations.

10. യാക്കോബിന്റെ ധൂളിയെ ആര്ക്കും എണ്ണാം? യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കാലംശത്തെ ആര്ക്കും ഗണിക്കാം? ഭക്തന്മാര് മരിക്കുമ്പോലെ ഞാന് മരിക്കട്ടെ; എന്റെ അവസാനം അവന്റേതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ.

10. Jacob's people are like the dust of the earth. Can dust be counted? Who can count even a fourth of the people of Israel? Let me die as godly people die. Let my death be like theirs!'

11. ബാലാക് ബിലെയാമിനോടുനീ എന്നോടു ഈ ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ ശപിപ്പാനല്ലോ ഞാന് നിന്നെ വരുത്തിയതു? നീയോ അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Balak said to Balaam, 'What have you done to me? I brought you here to put a curse on my enemies! But all you have done is give them a blessing!'

12. അതിന്നു അവന് യഹോവ എന്റെ നാവിന്മേല് തന്നതു പറവാന് ഞാന് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ടായോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

12. He answered, 'I have to speak only the words the Lord puts in my mouth.'

13. ബാലാക് അവനോടുനീ അവരെ മറ്റൊരു സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു കാണേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നോടുകൂടെ വരിക; എന്നാല് അവരുടെ ഒരറ്റം മാത്രമല്ലാതെ എല്ലാവരെയും കാണുകയില്ല; അവിടെനിന്നു അവരെ ശപിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Then Balak said to Balaam, 'Come with me to another place. You can see the people of Israel from there. You will see only some of them. You won't see all of them. From there, put a curse on them for me.'

14. ഇങ്ങനെ അവന് പിസ്ഗകൊടുമുടിയില് സോഫീം എന്ന മുകള്പ്പരപ്പിലേക്കു അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ഏഴു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു ഔരോ പീഠത്തിന്മേലും ഒരു കാളയെയും ഒരു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും യാഗം കഴിച്ചു.

14. So Balak took Balaam to the field of Zophim. It was on the highest slopes of Pisgah. There he built seven altars. He offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

15. പിന്നെ അവന് ബാലാക്കിനോടുഇവിടെ നിന്റെ ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് നില്ക്ക; ഞാന് അങ്ങോട്ടു ചെന്നു കാണട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Balaam said to Balak, 'Stay here beside your offering. I'll meet with the Lord over there.'

16. യഹോവ ബിലെയാമിന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി അവന്റെ നാവിന്മേല് ഒരു വചനം കൊടുത്തുബാലാക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു ഇപ്രകാരം പറക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

16. The Lord met with Balaam. He put a message in Balaam's mouth. The Lord said, 'Go back to Balak. Give him my message.'

17. അവന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള് അവന് മോവാബ്യ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ തന്റെ ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് നിന്നിരുന്നു. അപ്പോള് ബാലാക് അവനോടുയഹോവ എന്തു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

17. So he went to him. He found him standing beside his offering. The princes of Moab were with him. Balak asked him, 'What did the Lord say?'

18. അവന് സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിത്തുടങ്ങിയതുബാലാക്കേ, എഴുന്നേറ്റു കേള്ക്ക; സിപ്പോരിന്റെ പുത്രാ, എനിക്കു ചെവി തരിക.

18. Then Balaam spoke the message he had received from God. He said, 'Balak, rise up and listen. Son of Zippor, hear me.

19. വ്യാജം പറവാന് ദൈവം മനുഷ്യനല്ല; അനുതപിപ്പാന് അവന് മനുഷ്യപുത്രനുമല്ല; താന് കല്പിച്ചതു ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കുമോ? താന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവര്ത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കുമോ?

19. God isn't a mere man. He can't lie. He isn't a human being. He doesn't change his mind. He speaks, and then he acts. He makes a promise, and then he keeps it.

20. അനുഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് എനിക്കു കല്പന ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു അതു മറിച്ചുകൂടാ.

20. He has commanded me to bless Israel. He has given them his blessing. And I can't change it.

21. യാക്കോബില് തിന്മ കാണ്മാനില്ല; യിസ്രായേലില് കഷ്ടത ദര്ശിപ്പാനുമില്ല; അവന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനോടു കൂടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; രാജകോലാഹലം അവരുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഉണ്ടു.

21. 'I don't see any trouble coming on the people of Jacob. I don't see any suffering in Israel. The Lord their God is with them. The shout of the King is among them.

22. ദൈവം അവരെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടു വരുന്നു; കാട്ടുപോത്തിന്നു തുല്യമായ ബലം അവന്നു ഉണ്ടു.

22. God brought them out of Egypt. They are as strong as a wild ox.

23. ആഭിചാരം യാക്കോബിന്നു പറ്റുകയില്ല; ലക്ഷണവിദ്യ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു ഫലിക്കയുമില്ല; ഇപ്പോള് യാക്കോബിനെക്കുറിച്ചും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കുറിച്ചുംദൈവം എന്തെല്ലാം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നേ പറയാവു.

23. There isn't any magic that can hurt the people of Jacob. No one can use magic words to harm Israel. Here is what will be said about the people of Jacob. Here is what will be said about Israel. People will say, 'See what God has done!'

24. ഇതാ, ജനം സിംഹിയെപ്പോലെ എഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നു; ബാലസിംഹത്തെപ്പോലെ തെളിഞ്ഞുനിലക്കുന്നു; അവന് ഇര പിടിച്ചു തിന്നാതെയും നിഹതന്മാരുടെ രക്തം കുടിക്കാതെയും കിടക്കയില്ല.

24. The people of Israel are going to wake up like a female lion. They are going to get up like a male lion. They are like a lion that won't rest until it eats what it has caught. They are like a lion that won't rest until it drinks the blood of what it has killed.'

25. അപ്പോള് ബാലാക് ബിലെയാമിനോടുഅവരെ ശപിക്കയും വേണ്ടാ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കയും വേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. Then Balak said to Balaam, 'Don't put a curse on them at all! And don't give them a blessing at all!'

26. ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോടുയഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് ചെയ്യും എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Balaam answered, 'Didn't I tell you that I have to do only what the Lord says?'

27. ബാലാക് ബിലെയാമിനോടുവരിക, ഞാന് നിന്നെ മറ്റൊരു സ്ഥലത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകും; അവിടെനിന്നു നീ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി അവരെ ശപിപ്പാന് ദൈവത്തിന്നു പക്ഷേ സമ്മതമാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. Then Balak said to Balaam, 'Come. Let me take you to another place. Perhaps God will be pleased to let you put a curse on them for me from there.'

28. അങ്ങനെ ബാലാക് ബിലെയാമിനെ മരുഭൂമിക്കു എതിരെയുള്ള പെയോര്മലയുടെ മുകളില് കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

28. Balak took Balaam to the top of Mount Peor. It looks out over a dry and empty land.

29. ബിലെയാം ബാലാക്കിനോടുഇവിടെ എനിക്കു ഏഴു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു ഏഴു കാളയെയും ഏഴു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും ഒരുക്കിനിര്ത്തുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. Balaam said, 'Build me seven altars here. Prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me to sacrifice.'

30. ബിലെയാം പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ബാലാക് ചെയ്തു; ഔരോ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേലും ഒരു കാളയെയും ഒരു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും യാഗം കഴിച്ചു.

30. Balak did just as Balaam said. He offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
