1. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും യെരീഹോവിന്നെതിരെ യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെ മോവാബ് സമഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

1. And the LORD spoke unto Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan of Jericho, saying,

2. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തില്നിന്നു ലേവ്യര്ക്കും വസിപ്പാന് പട്ടങ്ങള് കൊടുക്കേണമെന്നു അവരോടു കല്പിക്ക; പട്ടണങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അവയുടെ പുല്പുറവും നിങ്ങള് ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കേണം.

2. Command the sons of Israel that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in, and ye shall give [also] unto the Levites the suburbs of those cities round about them.

3. പട്ടണങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും പാര്പ്പിടമായിരിക്കേണം; അവയുടെ പുല്പുറം ആടുമാടുകള് മുതലായ സകലമൃഗസമ്പത്തിന്നും വേണ്ടി ആയിരിക്കേണം.

3. And they shall have the cities to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their animals and for their substance and for all their beasts.

4. നിങ്ങള് ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കേണ്ടുന്ന പുല്പുറം. പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ മതിലിങ്കല് തുടങ്ങിപുറത്തോട്ടു ചുറ്റും ആയിരം മുഴം വിസ്താരം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

4. And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, [shall reach] from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

5. പട്ടണം നടുവാക്കി അതിന്നു പുറമെ കിഴക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും തെക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും വടക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും അളക്കേണം; ഇതു അവര്ക്കും പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ പുല്പുറം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

5. Then ye shall measure from outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the side of the Negev two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city [shall be] in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

6. നിങ്ങള് ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ആറു സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങളായിരിക്കേണം; കുലചെയ്തവന് അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് അവയെ അവന്നു വേണ്ടി വേറുതിരിക്കേണം; ഇവകൂടാതെ നിങ്ങള് വേറെയും നാല്പത്തുരണ്ടു പട്ടണങ്ങളെ കൊടുക്കേണം.

6. And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites, [there shall be] six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint so that the murderer may flee there; and in addition to them ye shall give them forty-two cities.

7. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങള് എല്ലാംകൂടെ നാല്പത്തെട്ടു ആയിരിക്കേണം; അവയും അവയുടെ പുല്പുറങ്ങളും കൊടുക്കേണം.

7. So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites [shall be] forty-eight cities, the [cities] with their suburbs.

8. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ അവകാശത്തില്നിന്നു ജനമേറിയവര് ഏറെയും ജനം കുറഞ്ഞവര് കുറെയും പട്ടണങ്ങള് കൊടുക്കേണം; ഔരോ ഗോത്രം തനിക്കു ലഭിക്കുന്ന അവകാശത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ലേവ്യര്ക്കും പട്ടണങ്ങളെ കൊടുക്കേണം.

8. And the cities which ye shall give [shall be] of the possession of the sons of Israel; from [those that have] much ye shall give many; but from [those that have] few ye shall give few, each one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his possession which he inherited.

9. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

9. And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

10. നീ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു കനാന് ദേശത്തു എത്തിയശേഷം

10. Speak unto the sons of Israel and say unto them, When ye have passed the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

11. ചില പട്ടണങ്ങള് സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങളായി വേറുതിരിക്കേണം; അബദ്ധവശാല് ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നുപോയവന് അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകേണം.

11. then ye shall appoint yourselves cities to be cities of refuge for you that the murderer who kills any person unawares may flee there.

12. കുലചെയ്തവന് സഭയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വിസ്താരത്തിന്നു നിലക്കുംവരെ അവന് പ്രതികാരകന്റെ കയ്യാല് മരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവ സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങള് ആയിരിക്കേണം.

12. And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger that the murderer not die until he stands before the congregation in judgment.

13. നിങ്ങള് കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ആറെണ്ണം സങ്കേതനഗരം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

13. And of these cities which ye shall give, six cities shall ye have for refuge.

14. യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ മൂന്നുപട്ടണവും കനാന് ദേശത്തു മൂന്നു പട്ടണവും കൊടുക്കേണം; അവ സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങള് ആയിരിക്കേണം.

14. Ye shall give three cities on this side of the Jordan and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, [which] shall be cities of refuge.

15. അബദ്ധവശാല് ഒരുത്തനെ കൊല്ലുന്നവന് ഏവനും അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ ആറുപട്ടണം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കും പരദേശിക്കും വന്നുപാര്ക്കുംന്നവന്നും സങ്കേതം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

15. These six cities shall be a refuge, [both] for the sons of Israel and for the stranger and for the sojourner among them that anyone that kills another person unawares may flee there.

16. എന്നാല് ആരെങ്കിലും ഇരുമ്പായുധംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുത്തനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവന് കുലപാതകന് ; കുലപാതകന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

16. And if he smites him with an instrument of iron so that he dies, he [is] a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

17. മരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരുത്തനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവന് കുലപാതകന് ; കുലപാതകന് മരണ ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

17. And if he smites him by throwing a stone with which he may die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

18. അല്ലെങ്കില് മരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ആരെങ്കിലും കയ്യിലിരുന്ന മരയായുധംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുത്തനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവന് കുലപാതകന് ; കുലപാതകന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

18. Or [if] he smites him with a hand weapon of wood with which he may die, and he dies, he [is] a murderer; the murderer shall surely be put to death.

19. രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് തന്നേ കുലപാതകനെ കൊല്ലേണം; അവനെ കണ്ടുകൂടുമ്പോള് അവനെ കൊല്ലേണം.

19. The kinsman avenger of blood shall slay the murderer; when he meets him, he shall slay him.

20. ആരെങ്കിലും ദ്വേഷംനിമിത്തം ഒരുത്തനെ കുത്തുകയോ കരുതിക്കൂട്ടി അവന്റെമേല് വല്ലതും എറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല്,

20. But if he thrusts him out of hatred or hurls at him by laying in wait, so that he dies

21. അല്ലെങ്കില് ശത്രുതയാല് കൈകൊണ്ടു അവനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവനെ കൊന്നവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം. അവന് കുലപാതകന് ; രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് കുലപാതകനെ കണ്ടുകൂടുമ്പോള് കൊന്നുകളയേണം.

21. or out of enmity smites him with his hand so that he dies, he that smote [him] shall surely be put to death; [for] he [is] a murderer; the kinsman avenger of blood shall slay the murderer when he meets him.

22. എന്നാല് ആരെങ്കിലും ശത്രുതകൂടാതെ പെട്ടെന്നു ഒരുത്തനെ കുത്തുകയോ കരുതാതെ വല്ലതും അവന്റെ മേല് എറിഞ്ഞുപോകയോ,

22. But if he thrusts him suddenly without enmity, or has cast upon him any thing without laying in wait,

23. അവന്നു ശത്രുവായിരിക്കാതെയും അവന്നു ദോഷം വിചാരിക്കാതെയും അവന് മരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ കാണാതെ കല്ലു എറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചു പോയാല്

23. or with any stone, with which a man may die, seeing [him] not and casts [it] upon him that he dies, and [was] not his enemy, neither sought his harm,

24. കുലചെയ്തവന്നും രക്തപ്രതികാരകന്നും മദ്ധ്യേ ഈ ന്യായങ്ങളെ അനുസരിച്ചു സഭ വിധിക്കേണം.

24. then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the kinsman avenger of blood according to these laws.

25. കുലചെയ്തവനെ സഭ രക്തപ്രതികാരകന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കേണം; അവന് ഔടിപ്പോയിരുന്ന സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിലേക്കു അവനെ മടക്കി അയക്കേണം; വിശുദ്ധതൈലത്താല് അഭിഷിക്തനായ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണംവരെ അവന് അവിടെ പാര്ക്കേണം.

25. And the congregation shall deliver the murderer out of the hand of the kinsman avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, where he has fled, and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

26. എന്നാല് കുലചെയ്തവന് ഔടിപ്പോയിരുന്ന സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിന്റെ അതിര് വിട്ടു പുറത്തു വരികയും

26. But if the murderer shall at any time come outside the border of the city of his refuge where he has fled,

27. അവനെ അവന്റെ സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിന്റെ അതിരിന്നു പുറത്തുവെച്ചു കണ്ടു രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് കുലചെയ്തവനെ കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്താല് അവന്നു രക്തപാതകം ഇല്ല.

27. and the kinsman avenger of blood finds him outside the borders of the city of his refuge, and the kinsman avenger of blood murders the murderer, he shall not be guilty of his blood.

28. അവന് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണംവരെ തന്റെ സങ്കേതനഗരത്തില് പാര്ക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് കുലചെയ്തവന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണശേഷം തന്റെ അവകാശഭൂമിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാം.

28. He should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest, but after the death of the high priest the murderer shall return into the land of his possession.

29. ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തലമുറതലമുറയായി നിങ്ങളുടെ സകലവാസസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും ന്യായവിധിക്കുള്ള പ്രമാണം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

29. So these [things] shall be for a statute of rights unto you throughout your ages in all your dwellings.

30. ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നാല് കുലപാതകന് സാക്ഷികളുടെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം; എന്നാല് ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ മരണശിക്ഷെക്കു ഏകസാക്ഷിയുടെ മൊഴി മതിയാകുന്നതല്ല.

30. Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses, but one witness shall not testify against any person [to cause him] to die.

31. മരണയോഗ്യനായ കുലപാതകന്റെ ജീവന്നുവേണ്ടി നിങ്ങള് വീണ്ടെടുപ്പു വില വാങ്ങരുതു; അവന് മരണശിക്ഷ തന്നേ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

31. Moreover ye shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who [is] guilty of death, but he shall be surely put to death.

32. സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയവന് പുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ നാട്ടില് മടങ്ങിവന്നു പാര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിങ്ങള് വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുവില വാങ്ങരുതു.

32. And ye shall take no ransom for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

33. നിങ്ങള് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ദേശം അങ്ങനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; രക്തം ദേശത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു; ദേശത്തില് ചൊരിഞ്ഞ രക്തത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി രക്തം ചൊരിയിച്ചവന്റെ രക്തത്താല് അല്ലാതെ ദേശത്തിന്നു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം സാദ്ധമല്ല.

33. So ye shall not pollute the land where ye are, for this blood shall defile the land; and the land cannot be reconciled of the blood that is shed therein except by the blood of the one that shed it.

34. അതു കൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അധിവസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ പാര്പ്പിടമായ ദേശം അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അധിവസിക്കുന്നു.

34. Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit in the midst of which I dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the sons of Israel.:
