1. When Jesus had finished teaching, he told his disciples,

2. “രണ്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു പെസഹ ആകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; അന്നു മനുഷ്യ പുത്രനെ ക്രൂശിപ്പാന് ഏല്പിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. 'You know that two days from now will be Passover. That is when the Son of Man will be handed over to his enemies and nailed to a cross.'

3. അന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരും കയ്യഫാമഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മണ്ഡപത്തില് വന്നു കൂടി.

3. At that time the chief priests and the nation's leaders were meeting at the home of Caiaphas the high priest.

4. യേശുവിനെ ഉപായത്താല് പിടിച്ചു കൊല്ലുവാന് ആലോചിച്ചു;

4. They planned how they could sneak around and have Jesus arrested and put to death.

5. എങ്കിലും ജനത്തില് കലഹമുണ്ടാകാതിരിപ്പാന് പെരുനാളില് അരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. But they said, 'We must not do it during Passover, because the people will riot.'

6. യേശു ബേഥാന്യയില് കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായിരുന്ന ശീമോന്റെ വീട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള്

6. Jesus was in the town of Bethany, eating at the home of Simon, who had leprosy.

7. ഒരു സ്ത്രീ വിലയേറിയ പരിമളതൈലം നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു വെണ്കല്ഭരണി എടുത്തുംകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കെ വന്നു, അവന് പന്തിയില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് അതു അവന്റെ തലയില് ഒഴിച്ചു.

7. A woman came in with a bottle of expensive perfume and poured it on Jesus' head.

8. But when his disciples saw this, they became angry and complained, 'Why such a waste?

9. We could have sold this perfume for a lot of money and given it to the poor.'

10. Jesus knew what they were thinking, and he said: Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing for me.

13. You may be sure that wherever the good news is told all over the world, people will remember what she has done. And they will tell others.

15. and asked, 'How much will you give me if I help you arrest Jesus?' They paid Judas thirty silver coins,

16. and from then on he started looking for a good chance to betray Jesus.

17. On the first day of the Festival of Thin Bread, Jesus' disciples came to him and asked, 'Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal?'

18. Jesus told them to go to a certain man in the city and tell him, 'Our teacher says, 'My time has come! I want to eat the Passover meal with my disciples in your home.' '

19. They did as Jesus told them and prepared the meal.

20. When Jesus was eating with his twelve disciples that evening, he said, 'One of you will surely hand me over to my enemies.'

22. The disciples were very sad, and each one said to Jesus, 'Lord, you can't mean me!'

24. The Son of Man will die, as the Scriptures say. But it's going to be terrible for the one who betrays me! That man would be better off if he had never been born.'

25. Judas said, 'Teacher, you surely don't mean me!' 'That's what you say!' Jesus replied. But later, Judas did betray him.

26. During the meal Jesus took some bread in his hands. He blessed the bread and broke it. Then he gave it to his disciples and said, 'Take this and eat it. This is my body.'

27. Jesus picked up a cup of wine and gave thanks to God. He then gave it to his disciples and said, 'Take this and drink it.

28. This is my blood, and with it God makes his agreement with you. It will be poured out, so that many people will have their sins forgiven.

29. From now on I am not going to drink any wine, until I drink new wine with you in my Father's kingdom.'

30. Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.

31. Jesus said to his disciples, 'During this very night, all of you will reject me, as the Scriptures say, 'I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'

33. Peter spoke up, 'Even if all the others reject you, I never will!'

34. നിന്നോടു കൂടെ മരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാലും ഞാന് നിന്നെ തള്ളിപ്പറകയില്ല എന്നു പത്രൊസ് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അതുപോലെ തന്നേ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് എല്ലാവരും പറഞ്ഞു.

34. Jesus replied, 'I promise you that before a rooster crows tonight, you will say three times that you don't know me.'

35. But Peter said, 'Even if I have to die with you, I will never say I don't know you.' All the others said the same thing.

36. പത്രൊസിനെയും സെബെദി പുത്രന്മാര് ഇരുവരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു ദുഃഖിച്ചും വ്യാകുലപ്പെട്ടും തുടങ്ങി

36. Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane. When they got there, he told them, 'Sit here while I go over there and pray.'

37. “എന്റെ ഉള്ളം മരണവേദനപോലെ അതിദുഃഖിതമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചു എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണര്ന്നിരിപ്പിന്” എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

37. Jesus took along Peter and the two brothers, James and John. He was very sad and troubled,

38. and he said to them, 'I am so sad that I feel as if I am dying. Stay here and keep awake with me.'

39. Jesus walked on a little way. Then he knelt with his face to the ground and prayed, 'My Father, if it is possible, don't make me suffer by having me drink from this cup. But do what you want, and not what I want.'

40. പരീക്ഷയില് അകപ്പെടാതിരിപ്പാന് ഉണര്ന്നിരുന്നു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പിന് ; ആത്മാവു ഒരുക്കമുള്ളതു, ജഡമോ ബലഹീനമത്രേ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

40. He came back and found his disciples sleeping. So he said to Peter, 'Can't any of you stay awake with me for just one hour?

41. രണ്ടാമതും പോയി“പിതാവേ, ഞാന് കുടിക്കാതെ അതു നീങ്ങിക്കൂടാ എങ്കില്, നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ആകട്ടെ” എന്നു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

41. Stay awake and pray that you won't be tested. You want to do what is right, but you are weak.'

42. അനന്തരം അവന് വന്നു, അവര് കണ്ണിന്നു ഭാരം ഏറുകയാല് പിന്നെയും ഉറങ്ങുന്നതുകണ്ടു.

42. Again Jesus went to pray and said, 'My Father, if there is no other way, and I must suffer, I will still do what you want.'

43. അവരെ വിട്ടു മൂന്നാമതും പോയി ആ വചനം തന്നേ ചൊല്ലി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

43. Jesus came back and found them sleeping again. They simply could not keep their eyes open.

44. പിന്നെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു“ഇനി ഉറങ്ങി ആശ്വസിച്ചു കൊള്വിന് ; നാഴിക അടുത്തു; മനുഷ്യപുത്രന് പാപികളുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു;

44. He left them and prayed the same prayer once more.

45. എഴുന്നേല്പിന് , നാം പോക; ഇതാ, എന്നെ കാണിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നവന് അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

45. Finally, Jesus returned to his disciples and said, 'Are you still sleeping and resting? The time has come for the Son of Man to be handed over to sinners.

46. അവന് സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ പന്തിരുവരില് ഒരുത്തനായ യൂദയും അവനോടു കൂടെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരും അയച്ച വലിയോരു പുരുഷാരവും വാളും വടികളുമായി വന്നു.

46. Get up! Let's go. The one who will betray me is already here.'

47. അവനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നവന് ; ഞാന് ഏവനെ ചുംബിക്കുമോ അവന് തന്നേ ആകുന്നു; അവനെ പിടിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് എന്നു അവര്ക്കും ഒരു അടയാളം കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു.

47. Jesus was still speaking, when Judas the betrayer came up. He was one of the twelve disciples, and a large mob armed with swords and clubs was with him. They had been sent by the chief priests and the nation's leaders.

48. ഉടനെ അവന് യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുറബ്ബീ, വന്ദനം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു.

48. Judas had told them ahead of time, 'Arrest the man I greet with a kiss.'

49. യേശു അവനോടു“സ്നേഹിതാ, നീ വന്ന കാര്യം എന്തു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അവര് അടുത്തു യേശുവിന്മേല് കൈ വെച്ചു അവനെ പിടിച്ചു.

49. Judas walked right up to Jesus and said, 'Hello, teacher.' Then Judas kissed him.

50. അപ്പോള് യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവരില് ഒരുവന് കൈ നീട്ടി വാള് ഊരി, മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ ദാസനെ വെട്ടി അവന്റെ കാതു അറുത്തു.

50. Jesus replied, 'My friend, why are you here?' The men grabbed Jesus and arrested him.

51. യേശു അവനോടു“വാള് ഉറയില് ഇടുക; വാള് എടുക്കുന്നവര് ഒക്കെയും വാളാല് നശിച്ചുപോകും.

51. One of Jesus' followers pulled out a sword. He struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.

52. എന്റെ പിതാവിനോടു ഇപ്പോള് തന്നേ പന്ത്രണ്ടു ലെഗ്യോനിലും അധികം ദൂതന്മാരെ എന്റെ അരികെ നിറുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു എനിക്കു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുകൂടാ എന്നു തോന്നുന്നുവോ?

52. But Jesus told him, 'Put your sword away. Anyone who lives by fighting will die by fighting.

53. Don't you know that I could ask my Father, and right away he would send me more than twelve armies of angels?

54. ആ നാഴികയില് യേശു പുരുഷാരത്തോടു“ഒരു കള്ളന്റെ നേരെ എന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ പിടിപ്പാന് വാളും വടിയുമായി വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് ദിവസേന ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവാലയത്തില് ഇരുന്നിട്ടും നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ പിടിച്ചില്ല.

54. But then, how could the words of the Scriptures come true, which say that this must happen?'

55. എന്നാല് ഇതു ഒക്കെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ എഴുത്തുകള് നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു സംഭവിച്ചു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് എല്ലാവരും അവനെ വിട്ടു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

55. Jesus said to the mob, 'Why do you come with swords and clubs to arrest me like a criminal? Day after day I sat and taught in the temple, and you didn't arrest me.

56. യേശുവിനെ പിടിച്ചവരോ മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ കയ്യഫായുടെ അടുക്കല് ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടിയിരുന്നേടത്തു അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

56. But all this happened, so that what the prophets wrote would come true.' All of Jesus' disciples left him and ran away.

57. എന്നാല് പത്രൊസ് ദൂരവെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ അരമനയോളം പിന് ചെന്നു, അകത്തു കടന്നു അവസാനം കാണ്മാന് സേവകന്മാരോടുകൂടി ഇരുന്നു

57. After Jesus had been arrested, he was led off to the house of Caiaphas the high priest. The nation's leaders and the teachers of the Law of Moses were meeting there.

58. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപസംഘം ഒക്കെയും യേശുവിനെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ നേരെ കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷ്യം അന്വേഷിച്ചു;

58. But Peter followed along at a distance and came to the courtyard of the high priest's palace. He went in and sat down with the guards to see what was going to happen.

59. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷികള് പലരും വന്നിട്ടും പറ്റിയില്ല.

59. The chief priests and the whole council wanted to put Jesus to death. So they tried to find some people who would tell lies about him in court.

60. ഒടുവില് രണ്ടുപേര് വന്നുദൈവമന്ദിരം പൊളിച്ചു മൂന്നു ദിവസംകൊണ്ടു വീണ്ടും പണിവാന് എനിക്കു കഴിയും എന്നു ഇവന് പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

60. But they could not find any, even though many did come and tell lies. At last, two men came forward

61. മഹാപുരോഹിതന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനോടുനീ ഒരു ഉത്തരവും പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? ഇവര് നിന്റെ നേരെ സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

61. and said, 'This man claimed that he would tear down God's temple and build it again in three days.'

62. യേശുവോ മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു. മഹാപുരോഹിതന് പിന്നെയും അവനോടുനീ ദൈവപുത്രനായ ക്രിസ്തുതന്നേയോ? പറക എന്നു ഞാന് ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തെക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്നോടു ആണയിട്ടു ചോദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

62. The high priest stood up and asked Jesus, 'Why don't you say something in your own defense? Don't you hear the charges they are making against you?'

63. യേശു അവനോടു“ഞാന് ആകുന്നു; ഇനി മനുഷ്യപുത്രന് സര്വശക്തന്റെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നതും ആകാശമേഘങ്ങളെ വാഹനമാക്കി വരുന്നതും നിങ്ങള് കാണും എന്നു ഞാന് പറയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

63. But Jesus did not answer. So the high priest said, 'With the living God looking on, you must tell the truth. Tell us, are you the Messiah, the Son of God?'

65. The high priest then tore his robe and said, 'This man claims to be God! We don't need any more witnesses! You have heard what he said.

69. While Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, a servant girl came up to him and said, 'You were with Jesus from Galilee.'

70. But in front of everyone Peter said, 'That isn't so! I don't know what you are talking about!'

71. ആ മനുഷ്യനെ ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു അവന് രണ്ടാമതും ആണയോടെ തള്ളിപ്പറഞ്ഞു.

71. When Peter had gone out to the gate, another servant girl saw him and said to some people there, 'This man was with Jesus from Nazareth.'

72. Again Peter denied it, and this time he swore, 'I don't even know that man!'

73. അപ്പോള് അവന് ആ മനുഷ്യനെ ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു പ്രാകുവാനും ആണയിടുവാനും തുടങ്ങി; ഉടനെ കോഴി ക്കുകി.

73. A little while later some people standing there walked over to Peter and said, 'We know that you are one of them. We can tell it because you talk like someone from Galilee.'

74. Peter began to curse and swear, 'I don't know that man!' Right then a rooster crowed,
