1. അവര് കടലിന്റെ അക്കരെ ഗദരദേശത്തു എത്തി.

1. THEY CAME to the other side of the sea to the region of the Gerasenes.

2. പടകില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിയ ഉടനെ അശുദ്ധാത്മാവുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് കല്ലറകളില് നിന്നു വന്നു അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു.

2. And as soon as He got out of the boat, there met Him out of the tombs a man [under the power] of an unclean spirit.

3. അവന്റെ പാര്പ്പു കല്ലറകളില് ആയിരുന്നു; ആര്ക്കും അവനെ ചങ്ങലകൊണ്ടുപോലും ബന്ധിച്ചുകൂടാഞ്ഞു.

3. This man continually lived among the tombs, and no one could subdue him any more, even with a chain;

4. പലപ്പോഴും അവനെ വിലങ്ങും ചങ്ങലയുംകൊണ്ടു ബന്ധിച്ചിട്ടും അവന് ചങ്ങല വലിച്ചുപൊട്ടിച്ചും വിലങ്ങു ഉരുമ്മി ഒടിച്ചും കളഞ്ഞു; ആര്ക്കും അവനെ അടക്കുവാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

4. For he had been bound often with shackles for the feet and handcuffs, but the handcuffs of [light] chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he rubbed and ground together and broke in pieces; and no one had strength enough to restrain or tame him.

5. അവന് രാവും പകലും കല്ലറകളിലും മലകളിലും ഇടവിടാതെ നിലവിളിച്ചും തന്നെത്താല് കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു ചതെച്ചും പോന്നു.

5. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always shrieking and screaming and beating and bruising and cutting himself with stones.

6. അവന് യേശുവിനെ ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

6. And when from a distance he saw Jesus, he ran and fell on his knees before Him in homage,

7. അവന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുയേശുവേ, മഹോന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുത്രാ, എനിക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മില് എന്തു? ദൈവത്താണ, എന്നെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കരുതേ എന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And crying out with a loud voice, he said, What have You to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? [What is there in common between us?] I solemnly implore you by God, do not begin to torment me!

8. അശുദ്ധാത്മാവേ, ഈ മനുഷ്യനെ വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോക എന്നു യേശു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

8. For Jesus was commanding, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!

9. നിന്റെ പേരെന്തു എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഎന്റെ പേര് ലെഗ്യോന് ; ഞങ്ങള് പലര് ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു;

9. And He asked him, What is your name? He replied, My name is Legion, for we are many.

10. നാട്ടില് നിന്നു തങ്ങളെ അയച്ചുകളയാതിരിപ്പാന് ഏറിയോന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

10. And he kept begging Him urgently not to send them [himself and the other demons] away out of that region.

11. അവിടെ മലയരികെ ഒരു വലിയ പന്നിക്കൂട്ടം മേഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

11. Now a great herd of hogs was grazing there on the hillside.

12. ആ പന്നികളില് കടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ അയക്കേണം എന്നു അവര് അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു;

12. And the demons begged Him, saying, Send us to the hogs, that we may go into them!

13. അവന് അനുവാദം കൊടുത്തു; അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കള് പുറപ്പെട്ടു പന്നികളില് കടന്നിട്ടു കൂട്ടം കടുന്തൂക്കത്തൂടെ കടലിലേക്കു പാഞ്ഞു വീര്പ്പുമുട്ടി ചത്തു. അവ ഏകദേശം രണ്ടായിരം ആയിരുന്നു.

13. So He gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out [of the man] and entered into the hogs; and the herd, numbering about 2,000, rushed headlong down the steep slope into the sea and were drowned in the sea.

14. പന്നികളെ മേയക്കുന്നവര് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു പട്ടണത്തിലും നാട്ടിലും അറിയിച്ചു; സംഭവിച്ചതു കാണ്മാന് പലരും പുറപ്പെട്ടു,

14. The hog feeders ran away, and told [it] in the town and in the country. And [the people] came to see what it was that had taken place.

15. യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു, ലെഗ്യോന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഭൂതഗ്രസ്തന് വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചും സുബോധം പൂണ്ടും ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

15. And they came to Jesus and looked intently and searchingly at the man who had been a demoniac, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, [the same man] who had had the legion [of demons]; and they were seized with alarm and struck with fear.

16. കണ്ടവര് ഭൂതഗ്രസ്തന്നു സംഭവിച്ചതും പന്നികളുടെ കാര്യവും അവരോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

16. And those who had seen it related in full what had happened to the man possessed by demons and to the hogs.

17. അപ്പോള് അവര് അവനോടു തങ്ങളുടെ അതിര് വിട്ടുപോകുവാന് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു തുടങ്ങി.

17. And they began to beg [Jesus] to leave their neighborhood.

18. അവന് പടകു ഏറുമ്പോള് ഭൂതഗ്രസ്തനായിരുന്നവന് താനും കൂടെ പോരട്ടെ എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

18. And when He had stepped into the boat, the man who had been controlled by the unclean spirits kept begging Him that he might be with Him.

19. യേശു അവനെ അനുവദിക്കാതെനിന്റെ വീട്ടില് നിനക്കുള്ളവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു, കര്ത്താവു നിനക്കു ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും നിന്നോടു കരുണകാണിച്ചതും പ്രസ്താവിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. But Jesus refused to permit him, but said to him, Go home to your own [family and relatives and friends] and bring back word to them of how much the Lord has done for you, and [how He has] had sympathy for you and mercy on you.

20. അവന് പോയി യേശു തനിക്കു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും ദെക്കപ്പൊലിനാട്ടില് ഘോഷിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; എല്ലാവരും ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെടുകയുമ ചെയ്തു.

20. And he departed and began to publicly proclaim in Decapolis [the region of the ten cities] how much Jesus had done for him, and all the people were astonished and marveled. [Matt. 4:25.]

21. യേശു വീണ്ടും പടകില് കയറി ഇവരെ കടന്നു കടലരികെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് വലിയ പുരുഷാരം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടി.

21. And when Jesus had recrossed in the boat to the other side, a great throng gathered about Him, and He was at the lakeshore.

22. പള്ളി പ്രമാണികളില് യായീറൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരുത്തന് വന്നു, അവനെ കണ്ടു കാല്ക്കല് വീണു

22. Then one of the rulers of the synagogue came up, Jairus by name; and seeing Him, he prostrated himself at His feet

23. എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുമകള് അത്യാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവള് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ വന്നു അവളുടെമേല് കൈ വെക്കേണമേ എന്നു വളരെ അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

23. And begged Him earnestly, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, so that she may be healed and live.

24. അവന് അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി, വലിയ പുരുഷാരവും പിന് ചെന്നു അവനെ തിക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

24. And Jesus went with him; and a great crowd kept following Him and pressed Him from all sides [so as almost to suffocate Him].

25. പന്ത്രണ്ടു സംവത്സരമായിട്ടു രക്തസ്രവമുള്ളവളായി

25. And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,

26. പല വൈദ്യന്മാരാലും ഏറിയോന്നു സഹിച്ചു തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും ചെലവഴിച്ചിട്ടും ഒട്ടും ഭേദം വരാതെ ഏറ്റവും പരവശയായി തീര്ന്നിരുന്ന ഒരു സ്ത്രീ യേശുവിന്റെ വര്ത്തമാനം കേട്ടു

26. And who had endured much suffering under [the hands of] many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse.

27. അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എങ്കിലും തൊട്ടാല് ഞാന് രക്ഷപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പുരുഷാരത്തില്കൂടി പുറകില് വന്നു അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം തൊട്ടു.

27. She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment,

28. ക്ഷണത്തില് അവളുടെ രക്തസ്രവം നിന്നു; ബാധ മാറി താന് സ്വസ്ഥയായി എന്നു അവള് ശരീരത്തില് അറിഞ്ഞു.

28. For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.

29. ഉടനെ യേശു തങ്കല്നിന്നു ശക്തി പുറപ്പെട്ടു എന്നു ഉള്ളില് അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു പുരുഷാരത്തില് തിരിഞ്ഞുഎന്റെ വസ്ത്രം തൊട്ടതു ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

29. And immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source, and [suddenly] she felt in her body that she was healed of her [distressing] ailment.

30. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടു പുരുഷാരം നിന്നെ തിരക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടും എന്നെ തൊട്ടതു ആര് എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. And Jesus, recognizing in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around immediately in the crowd and said, Who touched My clothes?

31. അവനോ അതു ചെയ്തവളെ കാണ്മാന് ചുറ്റും നോക്കി.

31. And the disciples kept saying to Him, You see the crowd pressing hard around You from all sides, and You ask, Who touched Me?

32. സ്ത്രീ തനിക്കു സംഭവിച്ചതു അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഭായപ്പെട്ടും വിറെച്ചുകൊണ്ടു വന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് വീണു വസ്തുത ഒക്കെയും അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. Still He kept looking around to see her who had done it.

33. അവന് അവളോടുമകളേ, നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം നിന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോയി ബാധ ഒഴിഞ്ഞു സ്വസ്ഥയായിരിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. But the woman, knowing what had been done for her, though alarmed and frightened and trembling, fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.

34. ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ പള്ളി പ്രമാണിയുടെ വീട്ടില് നിന്നു ആള് വന്നുനിന്റെ മകള് മരിച്ചുപോയി; ഗുരുവിനെ ഇനി അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. And He said to her, Daughter, your faith (your trust and confidence in Me, springing from faith in God) has restored you to health. Go in (into) peace and be continually healed and freed from your [distressing bodily] disease.

35. യേശു ആ വാക്കു കാര്യമാക്കാതെ പള്ളിപ്രമാണിയോടുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ, വിശ്വസിക്ക മാത്രം ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35. While He was still speaking, there came some from the ruler's house, who said [to Jairus], Your daughter has died. Why bother and distress the Teacher any further?

36. പത്രൊസും യാക്കോബും യാക്കോബിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യോഹന്നാനും അല്ലാതെ മറ്റാരും തന്നോടുകൂടെ ചെല്ലുവാന് സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല.

36. Overhearing but ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing.

37. പള്ളിപ്രമാണിയുടെ വീട്ടില് വന്നാറെ ആരവാരത്തെയും വളരെ കരഞ്ഞു വിലപിക്കുന്നവരെയും കണ്ടു;

37. And He permitted no one to accompany Him except Peter and James and John the brother of James.

38. അകത്തു കടന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ ആരവാരവും കരച്ചലും എന്തിന്നു? കുട്ടി മരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല, ഉറങ്ങുന്നത്രേ എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു; അവരോ അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു.

38. When they arrived at the house of the ruler of the synagogue, He looked [carefully and with understanding] at [the] tumult and the people weeping and wailing loudly.

39. അവന് എല്ലാവരെയും പുറത്താക്കി കുട്ടിയുടെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും തന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു കുട്ടി കിടക്കുന്ന ഇടത്തുചെന്നു കുട്ടിയുടെ കൈകൂ പിടിച്ചു

39. And when He had gone in, He said to them, Why do you make an uproar and weep? The little girl is not dead but is sleeping.

40. ബാലേ, എഴുന്നേല്ക്ക എന്നു നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്ന അര്ത്ഥത്തോടെ തലീഥാ ക്കുമി എന്നു അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

40. And they laughed and jeered at Him. But He put them all out, and, taking the child's father and mother and those who were with Him, He went in where the little girl was lying.

41. ബാല ഉടനെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു നടന്നു; അവള്ക്കു പന്ത്രണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവര് അത്യന്തം വിസ്മയിച്ചു

41. Gripping her [firmly] by the hand, He said to her, Talitha cumi--which translated is, Little girl, I say to you, arise [from the sleep of death]!

42. ഇതു ആരും അറിയരുതു എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു ഏറിയോന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവള്ക്കു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.

42. And instantly the girl got up and started walking around--for she was twelve years old. And they were utterly astonished and overcome with amazement.
