1. അവന് അവിടെ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു, തന്റെ പിതൃനഗരത്തില് ചെന്നു; അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരും അനുഗമിച്ചു.

1. Jesus went from the house of Jairus and came to His home town. His followers came after Him.

2. ശബ്ബത്തായപ്പോള് അവന് പള്ളിയില് ഉപദേശിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; പലരും കേട്ടു വിസ്മയിച്ചുഇവന്നു ഇവ എവിടെനിന്നു? ഇവന്നു കിട്ടിയ ഈ ജ്ഞാനവും ഇവന്റെ കയ്യാല് നടക്കുന്ന വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികളും എന്തു?

2. On the Day of Rest He began to teach in the Jewish place of worship. Many people heard Him. They were surprised and wondered, saying, 'Where did this Man get all this? What wisdom is this that has been given to Him? How can He do these powerful works with His hands?

3. ഇവന് മറിയയുടെ മകനും യാക്കോബ് യോസെ, യൂദാ, ശിമോന് എന്നവരുടെ സഹോദരനുമായ തച്ചനല്ലയോ? ഇവന്റെ സഹോദരികളും ഇവിടെ നമ്മോടു കൂടെ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവങ്കല് ഇടറിപ്പോയി.

3. Is He not a Man Who makes things from wood? Is He not the Son of Mary and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? Do not His sisters live here with us?' The people were ashamed of Him and turned away from Him.

4. യേശു അവരോടുഒരു പ്രവാചകന് തന്റെ പിതൃനഗരത്തിലും ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരുടെ ഇടയിലും സ്വന്ത ഭവനത്തിലും അല്ലാതെ ബഹുമാനമില്ലാത്തവന് അല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Jesus said to them, 'One who speaks for God is respected everywhere but in his own country and among his own family and in his own house.'

5. ഏതാനും ചില രോഗികളുടെ മേല് കൈ വെച്ചു സൌഖ്യം വരുത്തിയതു അല്ലാതെ അവിടെ വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തി ഒന്നും ചെയ്വാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

5. So Jesus could do no powerful works there. But He did put His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

6. അവരുടെ അവിശ്വാസം ഹേതുവായി അവന് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു. അവന് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ഊരുകളില് ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു സഞ്ചരിച്ചു പോന്നു.

6. He wondered because they had no faith. But He went around to the towns and taught as He went.

7. അനന്തരം അവന് പന്തിരുവരെ അടുക്കെ വിളിച്ചു, അവരെ ഈരണ്ടായി അയച്ചു തുടങ്ങി, അവര്ക്കും അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കളുടെ മേല് അധികാരം കൊടുത്തു.

7. Jesus called the twelve followers to Him and began to send them out two by two. He gave them power over demons.

8. അവര് വഴിക്കു വടി അല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും എടുക്കരുതു; അപ്പവും പൊക്കണവും മടിശ്ശീലയില് കാശും അരുതു; ചെരിപ്പു ഇട്ടുകൊള്ളാം;

8. He told them to take nothing along with them but a walking stick. They were not to take a bag or food or money in their belts.

9. രണ്ടു വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കരുതു എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

9. They were to wear shoes. They were not to take two coats.

10. നിങ്ങള് എവിടെയെങ്കിലും ഒരു വീട്ടില് ചെന്നാല് അവിടം വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെടുവോളം അതില് തന്നേ പാര്പ്പിന് .

10. He said to them, 'Whatever house you go into, stay there until you leave that town.

11. ആരെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊള്ളാതെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കാതെയും ഇരുന്നാല് അവിടം വിട്ടു പോകുമ്പോള് നിങ്ങളുടെ കാലിലെ പൊടി അവര്ക്കും സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി കുടഞ്ഞുകളവിന് എന്നും അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Whoever does not take you in or listen to you, when you leave there, shake the dust off your feet. By doing that, you will speak against them. For sure, I tell you, it will be easier for the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day men stand before God and are judged than for that city.'

12. അങ്ങനെ അവര് പുറപ്പെട്ടു മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടേണം എന്നു പ്രസംഗിച്ചു;

12. Then they left. They preached that men should be sorry for their sins and turn from them.

13. വളരെ ഭൂതങ്ങളെ പുറത്താക്കുകയും അനേകം രോഗികള്ക്കു എണ്ണതേച്ചു സൌഖ്യം വരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

13. They put out many demons. They poured oil on many people that were sick and healed them.

14. ഇങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ പേര് പ്രസിദ്ധമായി വരികയാല് ഹെരോദാരാജാവു കേട്ടിട്ടു; യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന് മരിച്ചവരുടെ ഇടയില് നിന്നു ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഈ ശക്തികള് അവനില് വ്യാപരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. King Herod heard about Jesus because everyone was talking about Him. Some people said, 'John the Baptist has been raised from the dead. That is why he is doing such powerful works.'

15. അവന് ഏലീയാവാകുന്നു എന്നു മറ്റു ചിലര് പറഞ്ഞു. വേറെ ചിലര്അവന് പ്രവാചകന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തനെപ്പോലെ ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Other people said, 'He is Elijah.' Others said, 'He is one who speaks for God like one of the early preachers.'

16. അതു ഹെരോദാവു കേട്ടാറെഞാന് തലവെട്ടിച്ച യോഹന്നാന് ആകുന്നു അവന് ; അവന് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. When Herod heard this, he said, 'It is John the Baptist, whose head I cut off. He has been raised from the dead.'

17. ഹെരോദാ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഫീലിപ്പോസിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹെരോദ്യയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവള്നിമിത്തം ആളയച്ചു, യോഹന്നാനെ പിടിച്ചു തടവില് ആക്കിയിരുന്നു.

17. For Herod had sent men to take John and put him into prison. He did this because of his wife, Herodias. She had been the wife of his brother Philip.

18. സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ പരിഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതു നിനക്കു വിഹിതമല്ല എന്നു യോഹന്നാന് ഹെരോദാവോടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

18. John the Baptist had said to Herod, 'It is wrong for you to have your brother's wife.'

19. ഹെരോദ്യയോ അവന്റെ നേരെ പകവെച്ചു അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാനും ഇച്ഛിച്ചു; സാധിച്ചില്ല താനും.

19. Herodias became angry with him. She wanted to have John the Baptist killed but she could not.

20. യോഹന്നാന് നീതിയും വിശുദ്ധിയുമുള്ള പുരുഷന് എന്നു ഹെരോദാവു അറിഞ്ഞു അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയും അവനെ കാത്തുകൊള്കയും ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടിട്ടു വളരെ കലങ്ങിയെങ്കിലും സന്തോഷത്തോടെ കേട്ടുപോകുന്നു.

20. Herod was afraid of John. He knew he was a good man and right with God, and he kept John from being hurt or killed. He liked to listen to John preach. But when he did, he became troubled.

21. എന്നാല് ഹെരോദാവു തന്റെ ജനനോത്സവത്തില് തന്റെ മഹത്തുക്കള്ക്കും സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാര്ക്കും ഗലീലയിലെ പ്രമാണികള്ക്കും വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചപ്പോള് ഒരു തരം വന്നു.

21. Then Herodias found a way to have John killed. Herod gave a big supper on his birthday. He asked the leaders of the country and army captains and the leaders of Galilee to come.

22. ഹെരോദ്യയുടെ മകള് അകത്തു ചെന്നു നൃത്തം ചെയ്തു ഹെരോദാവിനെയും വിരുന്നുകാരെയും പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ച സമയംമനസ്സുള്ളതു എന്തെങ്കിലും എന്നോടു ചോദിച്ചു കൊള്ക; നിനക്കു തരാം എന്നു രാജാവു ബാലയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. The daughter of Herodias came in and danced before them. This made Herod and his friends happy. The king said to the girl, 'Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you.'

23. എന്തു ചോദിച്ചാലും, രാജ്യത്തില് പകുതിയോളം ആയാലും നിനക്കു തരാം എന്നു സത്യം ചെയ്തു.

23. Then he made a promise to her, 'Whatever you ask for, I will give it to you. I will give you even half of my nation.'

24. അവള് പുറത്തിറങ്ങി അമ്മയോടുഞാന് എന്തു ചോദിക്കേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുയോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന്റെ തല എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

24. She went to her mother and asked, 'What should I ask for?' The mother answered, 'I want the head of John the Baptist.'

25. ഉടനെ അവള് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഇപ്പോള് തന്നെ യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന്റെ തല ഒരു തളികളയില് തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. At once the girl went to Herod. She said, 'I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a plate now.'

26. രാജാവു അതിദുഃഖിനായി എങ്കിലും ആണയെയും വിരുന്നുകാരെയും വിചാരിച്ചു അവളോടു നിഷേധിപ്പാന് മനസ്സില്ലാഞ്ഞു.

26. Herod was very sorry. He had to do it because of his promise and because of those who ate with him.

27. ഉടനെ രാജാവു ഒരു അകമ്പടിയെ അയച്ചു, അവന്റെ തല കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

27. At once he sent one of his soldiers and told him to bring the head of John the Baptist. The soldier went to the prison and cut off John's head.

28. അവന് പോയി തടവില് അവനെ ശിര:ഛേദം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ തല ഒരു തളികയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ബാലെക്കു കൊടുത്തു; ബാല അമ്മെക്കു കൊടുത്തു.

28. He took John's head in on a plate and gave it to the girl. The girl gave it to her mother.

29. അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു വന്നു അവന്റെ ശവം എടുത്തു ഒരു കല്ലറയില് വെച്ചു.

29. John's followers heard this. They went and took his body and buried it.

30. പിന്നെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര് യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടി തങ്ങള് ചെയ്തതും ഉപദേശിച്ചതും എല്ലാം അറിയിച്ചു.

30. The followers of Jesus came back to Him. They told Jesus all they had done and taught.

31. വരുന്നവരും പോകുന്നവരും വളരെ ആയിരുന്നതിനാല് അവര്ക്കും ഭക്ഷിപ്പാമ്പോലും സമയം ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഒരു ഏകാന്തസ്ഥലത്തു വേറിട്ടുവന്നു അല്പം ആശ്വസിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. He said to them, 'Come away from the people. Be by yourselves and rest.' There were many people coming and going. They had had no time even to eat.

32. അങ്ങനെ അവര് പടകില് കയറി ഒരു ഏകാന്ത സ്ഥലത്തു വേറിട്ടുപോയി.

32. They went by themselves in a boat to a desert.

33. അവര് പോകുന്നതു പലരും കണ്ടു അറിഞ്ഞു, എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളില് നിന്നും കാല്നടയായി അവിടേക്കു ഔടി, അവര്ക്കും മുന്പ് എത്തി.

33. Many people saw them leave and knew who they were. People ran fast from all the cities and got there first.

34. അവന് പടകില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിയാറെ വലിയ പുരുഷാരത്തെ കണ്ടു, അവര് ഇടയന് ഇല്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ ആകകൊണ്ടു അവരില് മനസ്സലിഞ്ഞു പലതും ഉപദേശിച്ചു തുടങ്ങി.

34. When Jesus got out of the boat, He saw many people gathered together. He had loving-pity for them. They were like sheep without a shepherd. He began to teach them many things.

35. പിന്നെ നേരം നന്നേ വൈകീട്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; ഇതു നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശം അല്ലോ;

35. The day was almost gone. The followers of Jesus came to Him. They said, 'This is a desert. It is getting late.

36. നേരവും നന്നേ വൈകി; ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് അവര് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള കുടിലുകളിലും ഊരുകളിലും ചെന്നു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് വല്ലതും കൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. Tell the people to go to the towns and villages and buy food for themselves.'

37. അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് കൊടുപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചതിന്നുഞങ്ങള് പോയി ഇരുനൂറു വെള്ളിക്കാശിന്നു അപ്പം കൊണ്ടിട്ടു അവര്ക്കും തിന്മാന് കൊടുക്കയോ എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

37. He said to them, 'Give them something to eat.' They said to Him, 'Are we to go and buy many loaves of bread and give it to them?'

38. അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള്ക്കു എത്ര അപ്പം ഉണ്ടു? ചെന്നു നോക്കുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവര് നോക്കിട്ടുഅഞ്ചു, രണ്ടു മീനും ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. He said to them, 'How many loaves of bread do you have here? Go and see.' When they knew, they said, 'Five loaves of bread and two fish.'

39. പിന്നെ അവന് അവരോടുഎല്ലാവരെയും പച്ചപ്പുല്ലില് പന്തിപന്തിയായി ഇരുത്തുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

39. Then He told them to have all the people sit down together in groups on the green grass.

40. അവര് നൂറും അമ്പതും വീതം നിരനിരയായി ഇരുന്നു.

40. They sat down in groups of fifty people and in groups of one hundred people.

41. അവന് ആ അഞ്ചു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു മീനും എടുത്തു സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തേക്കു നോക്കി വാഴ്ത്തി, അപ്പം നുറുക്കി, അവര്ക്കും വിളമ്പുവാന് തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു; ആ രണ്ടു മീനും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും വിഭാഗിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

41. Jesus took the five loaves of bread and two fish. He looked up to heaven and gave thanks. He broke the loaves in pieces and gave them to the followers to set before the people. He divided the two fish among them all.

42. എല്ലാവരും തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായി.

42. They all ate and were filled.

43. കഷണങ്ങളും മീന് നുറുക്കും പന്ത്രണ്ടു കൊട്ട നിറച്ചെടുത്തു.

43. After that the followers picked up twelve baskets full of pieces of bread and fish.

44. അപ്പം തിന്നവരോ അയ്യായിരം പുരുഷാന്മാര് ആയിരുന്നു.

44. About five thousand men ate the bread.

45. താന് പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കുന്നതിനടയില് തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ഉടനെ പടകു കയറി അക്കരെ ബേത്ത്സയിദെക്കു നേരെ മുന്നോടുവാന് നിര്ബന്ധിച്ചു.

45. At once Jesus had His followers get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side to the town of Bethsaida. He sent the people away.

46. അവരെ പറഞ്ഞച്ചു വിട്ടശേഷം താന് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പാന് മലയില് പോയി.

46. When they were all gone, He went up to the mountain to pray.

47. വൈകുന്നേരം ആയപ്പോള് പടകു കടലിന്റെ നടുവിലും താന് ഏകനായി കരയിലും ആയിരുന്നു.

47. It was evening.The boat was half-way across the sea. Jesus was alone on the land.

48. കാറ്റു പ്രതിക്കുലം ആകകൊണ്ടു അവര് തണ്ടുവലിച്ചു വലയുന്നതു അവന് കണ്ടു ഏകദേശം രാത്രാ നാലാം യാമത്തില് കടലിന്മേല് നടന്നു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവരെ കടന്നുപോകുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചു.

48. He saw His followers were in trouble. The wind was against them. They were working very hard rowing the boat. About three o'clock in the morning Jesus came to them walking on the sea. He would have gone past them.

49. അവന് കടലിന്മേല് നടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു ഭൂതം എന്നു അവര് നിരൂപിച്ചു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

49. When the followers saw Him walking on the water, they thought it was a spirit and cried out with fear.

50. എല്ലാവരും അവനെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഉടനെ അവന് അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചുധൈര്യപ്പെടുവിന് ; ഞാന് തന്നേ ആകുന്നു; ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

50. For they all saw Him and were afraid. At once Jesus talked to them. He said, 'Take hope. It is I, do not be afraid.'

51. പിന്നെ അവന് അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു പടകില് കയറി, കാറ്റു അമര്ന്നു; അവര് ഉള്ളില് അത്യന്തം ഭ്രമിച്ചാശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.

51. He came over to them and got into the boat. The wind stopped. They were very much surprised and wondered about it.

52. അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം കടുത്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അപ്പത്തിന്റെ സംഗതി അവര് ഗ്രഹിച്ചില്ല.

52. They had not learned what they should have learned from the loaves because their hearts were hard.

53. അവര് അക്കരെ എത്തി ഗെന്നേസരത്ത് ദേശത്തു അണഞ്ഞു.

53. Then they crossed the sea and came to the land of Gennesaret and went to shore.

54. അവര് പടകില് നിന്നു ഇങ്ങിയ ഉടനെ ജനങ്ങള് അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞു.

54. When Jesus got out of the boat, the people knew Him at once.

55. ആ നാട്ടില് ഒക്കെയും ചുറ്റി ഔടി, അവന് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു കേള്ക്കുന്ന ഇടത്തേക്കു ദീനക്കാരെ കിടക്കയില് എടുത്തുംകൊണ്ടുവന്നു തുടങ്ങി.

55. They ran through all the country bringing people who were sick on their beds to Jesus.

56. ഊരുകളിലോ പട്ടണങ്ങിലോ കുടികളിലോ അവന് ചെന്നെടത്തൊക്കെയും അവര് ചന്തകളില് രോഗികളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു വെച്ചു, അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെ തൊങ്ങല് എങ്കിലും തൊടേണ്ടതിന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കയും അവനെ തൊട്ടവര്ക്കും ഒക്കെയും സൌഖ്യം വരികയും ചെയ്തു.

56. Wherever He went, they would lay the sick people in the streets in the center of town where people gather. They begged Him that they might touch the bottom of His coat. Everyone who did was healed. This happened in the towns and in the cities and in the country where He went.
