1. പരീശപ്രമാണികളില് ഒരുത്തന്റെ വീട്ടില് അവന് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പാന് ശബ്ബത്തില് ചെന്നപ്പോള് അവര് അവനെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

1. One Sabbath, Jesus was having dinner in the home of an important Pharisee, and everyone was carefully watching Jesus.

2. മഹോദരമുള്ളോരു മനുഷ്യന് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

2. All of a sudden a man with swollen legs stood up in front of him.

3. യേശു ന്യായശാസ്ത്രിമാരോടും പരീശന്മാരോടുംശബ്ബത്തില് സൌഖ്യമാക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവരോ മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു.

3. Jesus turned and asked the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law of Moses, 'Is it right to heal on the Sabbath?'

4. അവന് അവനെ തൊട്ടു സൌഖ്യമാക്കി വിട്ടയച്ചു.

4. But they did not say a word. Jesus took hold of the man. Then he healed him and sent him away.

5. പിന്നെ അവരോടുനിങ്ങളില് ഒരുത്തന്റെ മകനോ കാളയോ ശബ്ബത്തു നാളില് കിണറ്റില് വീണാല് ക്ഷണത്തില്

5. Afterwards, Jesus asked the people, 'If your son or ox falls into a well, wouldn't you pull him out right away, even on the Sabbath?'

6. വലിച്ചെടുക്കയില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറവാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. There was nothing they could say.

7. ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവര് മുഖ്യാസനങ്ങളെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന് അവരോടു ഒരുപമ പറഞ്ഞു

7. Jesus saw how the guests had tried to take the best seats. So he told them:

8. ഒരുത്തന് നിന്നെ കല്യാണത്തിന്നു വിളിച്ചാല് മുഖ്യാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കരുതു; പക്ഷെ നിന്നിലും മാനമേറിയവനെ അവന് വിളിച്ചിരിക്കാം.

8. When you are invited to a wedding feast, don't sit in the best place. Someone more important may have been invited.

9. പിന്നെ നിന്നെയും അവനെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചവന് വന്നുഇവന്നു ഇടം കൊടുക്ക എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറയുമ്പോള് നീ നാണത്തോടെ ഒടുക്കത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തുപോയി ഇരിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

9. Then the one who invited you will come and say, 'Give your place to this other guest!' You will be embarrassed and will have to sit in the worst place.

10. നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചാല് ചെന്നു ഒടുക്കത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തു ഇരിക്ക; നിന്നെ ക്ഷണിച്ചവന് വരുമ്പോള് നിന്നോടുസ്നേഹിതാ, മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു ഇരിക്ക എന്നുപറവാന് ഇടവരട്ടെ; അപ്പോള് പന്തിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ മുമ്പില് നിനക്കു മാനം ഉണ്ടാകും.

10. When you are invited to be a guest, go and sit in the worst place. Then the one who invited you may come and say, 'My friend, take a better seat!' You will then be honored in front of all the other guests.

11. തന്നെത്താന് ഉയര്ത്തുന്നവന് എല്ലാം താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും; തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തുന്നവന് ഉയര്ത്തപ്പെടും.

11. If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honored.

12. തന്നെ ക്ഷണിച്ചവനോടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുനീ ഒരു മുത്താഴമോ അത്താഴമോ കഴിക്കുമ്പോള് സ്നേഹിതന്മാരേയും സഹോരദരന്മാരെയും ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരെയും സമ്പത്തുള്ള അയല്ക്കാരെയും വിളിക്കരുതു; അവര് നിന്നെ അങ്ങോട്ടും വിളിച്ചിട്ടു നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ചെയ്യും.

12. Then Jesus said to the man who had invited him: When you give a dinner or a banquet, don't invite your friends and family and relatives and rich neighbors. If you do, they will invite you in return, and you will be paid back.

13. നീ വിരുന്നു കഴിക്കുമ്പോള് ദരിദ്രന്മാര്, അംഗഹീനന്മാര് മുടന്തന്മാര്, കുരുടുന്മാര് എന്നിവരെ ക്ഷണിക്ക;

13. When you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.

14. എന്നാല് നീ ഭാഗ്യവാനാകും; നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ചെയ്വാന് അവര്ക്കും വകയില്ലല്ലോ; നീതിമാന്മാരരുടെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തില് നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ഉണ്ടാകും.

14. They cannot pay you back. But God will bless you and reward you when his people rise from death.

15. കൂടെ പന്തിയിരിരുന്നവരില് ഒരുത്തന് ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടുദൈവരാജ്യത്തില് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കുന്നവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു;

15. After Jesus had finished speaking, one of the guests said, 'The greatest blessing of all is to be at the banquet in God's kingdom!'

16. അവനോടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുഒരു മനുഷ്യന് വലിയോരു അത്താഴം ഒരുക്കി പലരെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചു.

16. Jesus told him: A man once gave a great banquet and invited a lot of guests.

17. അത്താഴസമയത്തു അവന് തന്റെ ദാസനെ അയച്ചു ആ ക്ഷണിച്ചവരോടുഎല്ലാം ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; വരുവിന് എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

17. When the banquet was ready, he sent a servant to tell the guests, 'Everything is ready! Please come.'

18. എല്ലാവരും ഒരു പോലെ ഒഴികഴിവു പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി; ഒന്നാമത്തവന് അവനോടുഞാന് ഒരു നിലം കൊണ്ടതിനാല് അതു ചെന്നു കാണേണ്ടുന്ന ആവശ്യം ഉണ്ടു; എന്നോടു ക്ഷമിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു ഞാന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. One guest after another started making excuses. The first one said, 'I bought some land, and I've got to look it over. Please excuse me.'

19. മറ്റൊരുത്തന് ഞാന് അഞ്ചേര്കാളയെ കൊണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; അവയെ ശോധന ചെയ്വാന് പോകുന്നു; എന്നോടു ക്ഷമിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു ഞാന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Another guest said, 'I bought five teams of oxen, and I need to try them out. Please excuse me.'

20. വേറൊരുത്തന് ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള്വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; വരുവാന് കഴിവില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Still another guest said, 'I have just gotten married, and I can't be there.'

21. ദാസന് മടങ്ങിവന്നു യജമാനനോടു അറിയിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് വീട്ടുടയവന് കോപിച്ചു ദാസനോടുനീ വേഗം പട്ടണത്തിലെ വീഥികളിലും ഇടത്തെരുക്കളിലും ചെന്നു ദരിദ്രന്മാര്, അംഗഹീനന്മാര്, കുരുടന്മാര്, മുടന്തന്മാര്, എന്നിവരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

21. The servant told his master what happened, and the master became so angry that he said, 'Go as fast as you can to every street and alley in town! Bring in everyone who is poor or crippled or blind or lame.'

22. പിന്നെ ദാസന് യജമാനനേ, കല്പിച്ചതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനിയും സ്ഥലം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. When the servant returned, he said, 'Master, I've done what you told me, and there is still plenty of room for more people.'

23. യജമാനന് ദാസനോടുനീ പെരുവഴികളിലും വേലികള്ക്കരികെയും പോയി, എന്റെ വീടുനിറയേണ്ടതിന്നു കണ്ടവരെ അകത്തുവരുവാന് നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിക്ക.

23. His master then told him, 'Go out along the back roads and fence rows and make people come in, so that my house will be full.

24. ആ ക്ഷണിച്ച പുരുഷന്മാര് ആരും എന്റെ അത്താഴം ആസ്വദിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. Not one of the guests I first invited will get even a bite of my food!'

25. ഏറിയ പുരുഷാരം അവനോടുകൂടെ പോകുമ്പോള് അവന് തിരിഞ്ഞു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു

25. Large crowds were walking along with Jesus, when he turned and said:

26. എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരികയും അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ഭാര്യയെയും മക്കളെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും സഹോദരികളെയും സ്വന്തജീവനെയും കൂടെ പകെക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.
ആവർത്തനം 33:9

26. You cannot be my disciple, unless you love me more than you love your father and mother, your wife and children, and your brothers and sisters. You cannot come with me unless you love me more than you love your own life.

27. തന്റെ ക്രൂശു എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരാത്തവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴിയില്ല.

27. You cannot be my disciple unless you carry your own cross and come with me.

28. നിങ്ങളില് ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു ഗോപുരം പണിവാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചാല് ആദ്യം ഇരുന്നു അതു തീര്പ്പാന് വക ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു കണകൂ നോക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

28. Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. What is the first thing you will do? Won't you sit down and figure out how much it will cost and if you have enough money to pay for it?

29. അല്ലെങ്കില് അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇട്ടശേഷം തീര്പ്പാന് വകയില്ല എന്നു വന്നേക്കാം;

29. Otherwise, you will start building the tower, but not be able to finish. Then everyone who sees what is happening will laugh at you.

30. കാണുന്നവര് എല്ലാം; ഈ മനുഷ്യര് പണിവാന് തുടങ്ങി, തീര്പ്പാനോ വകയില്ല എന്നു പരിഹസിക്കുമല്ലോ.

30. They will say, 'You started building, but could not finish the job.'

31. അല്ല, ഒരു രാജാവു മറ്റൊരു രാജാവിനോടു പട ഏല്പാന് പുറപ്പെടുംമുമ്പേ ഇരുന്നു, ഇരുപതിനായിരവുമായി വരുന്നവനോടു താന് പതിനായിരവുമായി എതിര്പ്പാന് മതിയോ എന്നു ആലോചിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

31. What will a king do if he has only ten thousand soldiers to defend himself against a king who is about to attack him with twenty thousand soldiers? Before he goes out to battle, won't he first sit down and decide if he can win?

32. പോരാ എന്നു വരികില് മറ്റവന് ദൂരത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ സ്ഥാനാപതികളെ അയച്ചു സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

32. If he thinks he won't be able to defend himself, he will send messengers and ask for peace while the other king is still a long way off.

33. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ നിങ്ങളില് ആരെങ്കിലും തനിക്കുള്ളതു ഒക്കെയും വിട്ടുപിരിയുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് അവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.

33. So then, you cannot be my disciple unless you give away everything you own.

34. ഉപ്പു നല്ലതു തന്നേ; ഉപ്പു കാരമില്ലാതെ പോയാല് എന്തൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു അതിന്നു രസം വരുത്തും?

34. Salt is good, but if it no longer tastes like salt, how can it be made to taste salty again?

35. പിന്നെ നിലത്തിന്നും വളത്തിന്നും കൊള്ളുന്നതല്ല; അതിനെ പുറത്തു കളയും. കേള്പ്പാന് ചെവി ഉള്ളവന് കേള്ക്കട്ടെ

35. It is no longer good for the soil or even for the manure pile. People simply throw it out. If you have ears, pay attention!
