1. പരീശപ്രമാണികളില് ഒരുത്തന്റെ വീട്ടില് അവന് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പാന് ശബ്ബത്തില് ചെന്നപ്പോള് അവര് അവനെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

1. And it came to pass, when he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a sabbath to eat bread, that they were watching him.

2. മഹോദരമുള്ളോരു മനുഷ്യന് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

2. And behold, there was before him a certain man which had the dropsy.

3. യേശു ന്യായശാസ്ത്രിമാരോടും പരീശന്മാരോടുംശബ്ബത്തില് സൌഖ്യമാക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവരോ മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു.

3. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not?

4. അവന് അവനെ തൊട്ടു സൌഖ്യമാക്കി വിട്ടയച്ചു.

4. But they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go.

5. പിന്നെ അവരോടുനിങ്ങളില് ഒരുത്തന്റെ മകനോ കാളയോ ശബ്ബത്തു നാളില് കിണറ്റില് വീണാല് ക്ഷണത്തില്

5. And he said unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a well, and will not straightway draw him up on a sabbath day?

6. വലിച്ചെടുക്കയില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറവാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. And they could not answer again unto these things.

7. ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവര് മുഖ്യാസനങ്ങളെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന് അവരോടു ഒരുപമ പറഞ്ഞു

7. And he spake a parable unto those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief seats; saying unto them,

8. ഒരുത്തന് നിന്നെ കല്യാണത്തിന്നു വിളിച്ചാല് മുഖ്യാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കരുതു; പക്ഷെ നിന്നിലും മാനമേറിയവനെ അവന് വിളിച്ചിരിക്കാം.

8. When thou art bidden of any man to a marriage feast, sit not down in the chief seat; lest haply a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him,

9. പിന്നെ നിന്നെയും അവനെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചവന് വന്നുഇവന്നു ഇടം കൊടുക്ക എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറയുമ്പോള് നീ നാണത്തോടെ ഒടുക്കത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തുപോയി ഇരിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

9. and he that bade thee and him shall come and say to thee, Give this man place; and then thou shalt begin with shame to take the lowest place.

10. നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചാല് ചെന്നു ഒടുക്കത്തെ സ്ഥലത്തു ഇരിക്ക; നിന്നെ ക്ഷണിച്ചവന് വരുമ്പോള് നിന്നോടുസ്നേഹിതാ, മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു ഇരിക്ക എന്നുപറവാന് ഇടവരട്ടെ; അപ്പോള് പന്തിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ മുമ്പില് നിനക്കു മാനം ഉണ്ടാകും.
സദൃശ്യവാക്യങ്ങൾ 25:7

10. But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest place; that when he that hath bidden thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have glory in the presence of all that sit at meat with thee.

11. തന്നെത്താന് ഉയര്ത്തുന്നവന് എല്ലാം താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും; തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തുന്നവന് ഉയര്ത്തപ്പെടും.

11. For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

12. തന്നെ ക്ഷണിച്ചവനോടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുനീ ഒരു മുത്താഴമോ അത്താഴമോ കഴിക്കുമ്പോള് സ്നേഹിതന്മാരേയും സഹോരദരന്മാരെയും ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരെയും സമ്പത്തുള്ള അയല്ക്കാരെയും വിളിക്കരുതു; അവര് നിന്നെ അങ്ങോട്ടും വിളിച്ചിട്ടു നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ചെയ്യും.

12. And he said to him also that had bidden him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor rich neighbours; lest haply they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.

13. നീ വിരുന്നു കഴിക്കുമ്പോള് ദരിദ്രന്മാര്, അംഗഹീനന്മാര് മുടന്തന്മാര്, കുരുടുന്മാര് എന്നിവരെ ക്ഷണിക്ക;

13. But when thou makest a feast, bid the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

14. എന്നാല് നീ ഭാഗ്യവാനാകും; നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ചെയ്വാന് അവര്ക്കും വകയില്ലല്ലോ; നീതിമാന്മാരരുടെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തില് നിനക്കു പ്രത്യുപകാരം ഉണ്ടാകും.

14. and thou shalt be blessed; because they have not {cf15i wherewith} to recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed in the resurrection of the just.

15. കൂടെ പന്തിയിരിരുന്നവരില് ഒരുത്തന് ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടുദൈവരാജ്യത്തില് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കുന്നവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു;

15. And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

16. അവനോടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുഒരു മനുഷ്യന് വലിയോരു അത്താഴം ഒരുക്കി പലരെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചു.

16. But he said unto him, A certain man made a great supper; and he bade many:

17. അത്താഴസമയത്തു അവന് തന്റെ ദാസനെ അയച്ചു ആ ക്ഷണിച്ചവരോടുഎല്ലാം ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; വരുവിന് എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

17. and he sent forth his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for {cf15i all} things are now ready.

18. എല്ലാവരും ഒരു പോലെ ഒഴികഴിവു പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി; ഒന്നാമത്തവന് അവനോടുഞാന് ഒരു നിലം കൊണ്ടതിനാല് അതു ചെന്നു കാണേണ്ടുന്ന ആവശ്യം ഉണ്ടു; എന്നോടു ക്ഷമിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു ഞാന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And they all with one {cf15i consent} began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a field, and I must needs go out and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

19. മറ്റൊരുത്തന് ഞാന് അഞ്ചേര്കാളയെ കൊണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; അവയെ ശോധന ചെയ്വാന് പോകുന്നു; എന്നോടു ക്ഷമിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു ഞാന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

20. വേറൊരുത്തന് ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള്വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; വരുവാന് കഴിവില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

21. ദാസന് മടങ്ങിവന്നു യജമാനനോടു അറിയിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് വീട്ടുടയവന് കോപിച്ചു ദാസനോടുനീ വേഗം പട്ടണത്തിലെ വീഥികളിലും ഇടത്തെരുക്കളിലും ചെന്നു ദരിദ്രന്മാര്, അംഗഹീനന്മാര്, കുരുടന്മാര്, മുടന്തന്മാര്, എന്നിവരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

21. And the servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor and maimed and blind and lame.

22. പിന്നെ ദാസന് യജമാനനേ, കല്പിച്ചതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനിയും സ്ഥലം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And the servant said, Lord, what thou didst command is done, and yet there is room.

23. യജമാനന് ദാസനോടുനീ പെരുവഴികളിലും വേലികള്ക്കരികെയും പോയി, എന്റെ വീടുനിറയേണ്ടതിന്നു കണ്ടവരെ അകത്തുവരുവാന് നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിക്ക.

23. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and constrain {cf15i them} to come in, that my house may be filled.

24. ആ ക്ഷണിച്ച പുരുഷന്മാര് ആരും എന്റെ അത്താഴം ആസ്വദിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. For I say unto you, that none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

25. ഏറിയ പുരുഷാരം അവനോടുകൂടെ പോകുമ്പോള് അവന് തിരിഞ്ഞു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു

25. Now there went with him great multitudes: and he turned, and said unto them,

26. എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരികയും അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ഭാര്യയെയും മക്കളെയും സഹോദരന്മാരെയും സഹോദരികളെയും സ്വന്തജീവനെയും കൂടെ പകെക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.
ആവർത്തനം 33:9

26. If any man cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

27. തന്റെ ക്രൂശു എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരാത്തവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴിയില്ല.

27. Whosoever doth not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

28. നിങ്ങളില് ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു ഗോപുരം പണിവാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചാല് ആദ്യം ഇരുന്നു അതു തീര്പ്പാന് വക ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു കണകൂ നോക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

28. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doth not first sit down and count the cost, whether he have {cf15i wherewith} to complete it?

29. അല്ലെങ്കില് അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇട്ടശേഷം തീര്പ്പാന് വകയില്ല എന്നു വന്നേക്കാം;

29. Lest haply, when he hath laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all that behold begin to mock him,

30. കാണുന്നവര് എല്ലാം; ഈ മനുഷ്യര് പണിവാന് തുടങ്ങി, തീര്പ്പാനോ വകയില്ല എന്നു പരിഹസിക്കുമല്ലോ.

30. saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

31. അല്ല, ഒരു രാജാവു മറ്റൊരു രാജാവിനോടു പട ഏല്പാന് പുറപ്പെടുംമുമ്പേ ഇരുന്നു, ഇരുപതിനായിരവുമായി വരുന്നവനോടു താന് പതിനായിരവുമായി എതിര്പ്പാന് മതിയോ എന്നു ആലോചിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

31. Or what king, as he goeth to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

32. പോരാ എന്നു വരികില് മറ്റവന് ദൂരത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ സ്ഥാനാപതികളെ അയച്ചു സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

32. Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and asketh conditions of peace.

33. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ നിങ്ങളില് ആരെങ്കിലും തനിക്കുള്ളതു ഒക്കെയും വിട്ടുപിരിയുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് അവന്നു എന്റെ ശിഷ്യനായിരിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.

33. So therefore whosoever he be of you that renounceth not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

34. ഉപ്പു നല്ലതു തന്നേ; ഉപ്പു കാരമില്ലാതെ പോയാല് എന്തൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു അതിന്നു രസം വരുത്തും?

34. Salt therefore is good: but if even the salt have lost its savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?

35. പിന്നെ നിലത്തിന്നും വളത്തിന്നും കൊള്ളുന്നതല്ല; അതിനെ പുറത്തു കളയും. കേള്പ്പാന് ചെവി ഉള്ളവന് കേള്ക്കട്ടെ

35. It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill: {cf15i men} cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
