2. ഇടപ്രഭൂക്കന്മാരായും ഹന്നാവും കയ്യഫാവും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരായും ഇരിക്കും കാലം സെഖര്യ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹന്നാന്നു മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടായി.

6. അവനാല് സ്നാനം ഏല്പാന് വന്ന പുരുഷാരത്തോടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുസര്പ്പസന്തതികളേ, വരുവാനുള്ള കോപത്തെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞ് ഔടിപ്പോകുവാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുതന്നതു ആര്?

7. മാനസാന്തരത്തിന്നു യോഗ്യമായ ഫലം കായിപ്പിന് . അബ്രാഹാം ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു പിതാവായിട്ടുണ്ടു; എന്നു ഉള്ളം കൊണ്ടു പറവാന് തുനിയരുതു; അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു ഈ കല്ലുകളില് നിന്നു മക്കളെ ഉളവാക്കുവാന് ദൈവത്തിന്നു കഴിയും എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

7. Therfor he seid to the puple, which wente out to be baptisid of hym, Kyndlyngis of eddris, who schewide to you to fle fro the wraththe to comynge?

8. ഇപ്പോള് തന്നേ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ ചുവട്ടിന്നു കോടാലി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നല്ല ഫലം കായ്ക്കാത്ത വൃക്ഷം എല്ലാം വെട്ടി തീയില് ഇട്ടുകളയുന്നു.

8. Therfor do ye worthi fruytis of penaunce, and bigynne ye not to seie, We han a fadir Abraham; for Y seie to you, that God is myyti to reise of these stoonys the sones of Abraham.

9. എന്നാല് ഞങ്ങള് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു പുരുഷാരം അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

9. And now an axe is sett to the roote of the tree; and therfor euery tre that makith no good fruyt, schal be kit doun, and schal be cast in to the fier.

21. പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ദേഹരൂപത്തില് പ്രാവു എന്നപോലെ അവന്റെമേല് ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു. നീ എന്റെ പ്രിയ പുത്രന് ; നിന്നില് ഞാന് പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് നിന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദവും ഉണ്ടായി.
