1. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ന്യായപ്രമാണം അറിയുന്നവരോടല്ലോ ഞാന് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതുമനുഷ്യന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കും കാലത്തൊക്കെയും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്നു അവന്റെമേല് അധികാരമുണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

1. Or are ye ignorant, brothers (for I speak to men who know the law), that the law has dominion over the man for as long a time as he lives?

2. ഭര്ത്താവുള്ള സ്ത്രീ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭര്ത്താവിനോടു ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താല് ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചാല് അവള് ഭര്ത്തൃന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില്നിന്നു ഒഴിവുള്ളവളായി.

2. For the woman under authority to the living husband has been bound by law, but if the husband should die, she has been released from the law of the husband.

3. ഭര്ത്താവു ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവള് വേറെ പുരുഷന്നു ആയാല് വ്യഭിചാരിണി എന്നു പേര് വരും; ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചു എങ്കിലോ അവള് വേറെ പുരുഷന്നു ആയാല് വ്യഭിചാരിണി എന്നു വരാതവണ്ണം ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില്നിന്നു സ്വതന്ത്രയാകുന്നു.

3. So then, of the living husband, she will be called an adulteress if she becomes to another man, but if the husband should die, she is free from the law, for her not to be an adulteress having become to another man.

4. അതുകൊണ്ടു സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നാം ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഫലം കായക്കുമാറു മരിച്ചിട്ടു ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റവനായ വേറോരുവന്നു ആകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളും ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ശരീരം മുഖാന്തരം ന്യായപ്രമാണസംബന്ധമായി മരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. Therefore, my brothers, ye also became dead to the law through the body of Christ in order for ye to become to another, to him who was raised from the dead, so that we would bear fruit to God.

5. നാം ജഡത്തിലായിരുന്നപ്പോള് ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താല് ഉളവായ പാപരാഗങ്ങള് മരണത്തില് ഫലം കായ്ക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം നമ്മുടെ അവയവങ്ങളില് വ്യാപരിച്ചുപോന്നു.

5. For when we were in the flesh, the passions of the sins were working in our body-parts (through the law) in order to bear fruit to death.

6. ഇപ്പോഴോ, നമ്മെ പിടിച്ചടക്കിയിരുന്ന ന്യായപ്രമാണം സംബന്ധിച്ചു മരിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അക്ഷരത്തിന്റെ പഴക്കത്തിലല്ല ആത്മാവിന്റെ പുതുക്കത്തില് തന്നേ സേവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നാം ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില്നിന്നു ഒഴിവുള്ളവരായിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. But now we have been released from the law, having died to what we were held, so as for us to serve in newness of spirit, and not in oldness of a document.

7. ആകയാല് നാം എന്തു പറയേണ്ടു? ന്യായപ്രമാണം പാപം എന്നോ? ഒരുനാളും അരുതു. എങ്കിലും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താല് അല്ലാതെ ഞാന് പാപത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; മോഹിക്കരുതു എന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണം പറയാതിരുന്നെങ്കില് ഞാന് മോഹത്തെ അറികയില്ലായിരുന്നു.

7. What will we say then? The law is sin? May it not happen! Yet I did not know sin except through law. For likewise I would not have known lust, if the law did not say, Thou shall not covet.

8. പാപമോ അവസരം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടു കല്പനയാല് എന്നില് സകലവിധ മോഹത്തെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം കൂടാതെ പാപം നിര്ജ്ജീവമാകുന്നു.

8. But sin, having taken opportunity through the commandment, wrought in me every evil desire, for apart from law sin is dead.

9. ഞാന് ഒരുകാലത്തു ന്യായപ്രമാണം കൂടാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് കല്പന വന്നപ്പോള് പാപംവീണ്ടും ജീവിക്കയും ഞാന് മരിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

9. And I was alive once apart from law, but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

10. ഇങ്ങനെ ജീവന്നായി ലഭിച്ചിരുന്ന കല്പന എനിക്കു മരണ ഹേതുവായിത്തീര്ന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് കണ്ടു. പാപം അവസരം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടു കല്പനയാല് എന്നെ ചതിക്കയും കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു.

10. And I found to me, the commandment being for life, this is for death.

11. ആകയാല് ന്യായപ്രമാണം വിശുദ്ധം; കല്പന വിശുദ്ധവും ന്യായവും നല്ലതും തന്നേ.

11. For sin, having taken opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.

12. എന്നാല് നന്മയായുള്ളതു എനിക്കു മരണകാരണമായിത്തീര്ന്നു എന്നോ? ഒരുനാളും അരുതു, പാപമത്രേ മരണമായിത്തീര്ന്നതു; അതു നന്മയായുള്ളതിനെക്കൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു മരണം ഉളവാക്കുന്നതിനാല് പാപം എന്നു തെളിയേണ്ടതിന്നു കല്പനയാല് അത്യന്തം പാപമായിത്തീരേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

12. So the law is indeed holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.

13. ന്യായപ്രമാണം ആത്മികം എന്നു നാം അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; ഞാനോ ജഡമയന് , പാപത്തിന്നു ദാസനായി വില്ക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് തന്നേ.

13. Has therefore what is good become death to me? May it not happen! Instead, it is sin, so that it might be revealed, sin working death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment sin might become sinful to extreme.

14. ഞാന് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതിനെ അല്ല പകെക്കുന്നതിനെ അത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

14. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, having been sold under sin.

15. ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കാത്തതിനെ ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കിലോ ന്യായപ്രമാണം നല്ലതു എന്നു ഞാന് സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു.

15. For I do not understand what I do, for I do not do this that I want, but what I hate, this I do.

16. ആകയാല് അതിനെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു ഞാനല്ല എന്നില് വസിക്കുന്ന പാപമത്രേ.

16. But if I do this that I do not want, I agree with the law that it is good.

17. എന്നില് എന്നുവെച്ചാല് എന്റെ ജഡത്തില് നന്മ വസിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; നന്മ ചെയ്വാനുള്ള താല്പര്യം എനിക്കുണ്ടു; പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതോ ഇല്ല.

17. But now I no longer perform it, but the sin dwelling in me.

18. ഞാന് ചെയ്വാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന നന്മ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലല്ലോ; ഇച്ഛിക്കാത്ത തിന്മയത്രേ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു.

18. For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh, for to will is present in me, but to do the good, I find not.

19. ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കാത്തതിനെ ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കിലോ അതിനെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു ഞാനല്ല എന്നില് വസിക്കുന്ന പാപമത്രേ.

19. For I do not do good that I want, instead, wrong that I do not want, this I do.

20. അങ്ങനെ നന്മ ചെയ്വാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്ന ഞാന് തിന്മ എന്റെ പക്കല് ഉണ്ടു എന്നൊരു പ്രമാണം കാണുന്നു.

20. But if I do this that I do not want, I no longer perform it, but sin dwelling in me.

21. ഉള്ളംകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് രസിക്കുന്നു.

21. Consequently I find the law in my wanting to do good, that evil is present in me.

22. എങ്കിലും എന്റെ ബുദ്ധിയുടെ പ്രമാണത്തോടു പോരാടുന്ന വേറൊരു പ്രമാണം ഞാന് എന്റെ അവയവങ്ങളില് കാണുന്നു; അതു എന്റെ അവയവങ്ങളിലുള്ള പാപപ്രമാണത്തിന്നു എന്നെ ബദ്ധനാക്കിക്കളയുന്നു.

22. For I delight in the law of God according to the inner man,

23. അയ്യോ, ഞാന് അരിഷ്ടമനുഷ്യന് ! ഈ മരണത്തിന്നു അധീനമായ ശരീരത്തില്നിന്നു എന്നെ ആര് വിടുവിക്കും?

23. but I see a different law in my body-parts, warring against the law of my mind, and taking me captive in the law of sin, which is in my body-parts.

24. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുമുഖാന്തരം ഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്നു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാന് തന്നേ ബുദ്ധികൊണ്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രമാണത്തെയും ജഡംകൊണ്ടു പാപത്തിന്റെ പ്രമാണത്തെയും സേവിക്കുന്നു.

24. I am a wretched man. Who will rescue me out of the body of this death?
