1. ഞാന് സ്വതന്ത്രന് അല്ലയോ? ഞാന് അപ്പൊസ്തലന് അല്ലയോ? നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിനെ ഞാന് കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലയോ? കര്ത്താവില് ഞാന് ചെയ്ത പ്രവൃത്തിയുടെ ഫലം നിങ്ങള് അല്ലയോ?

1. Am not free? Am I not an apostle? Jesus our Lord, have I not seen? Are not, ye, my work, in the Lord?

2. മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്കും ഞാന് അപ്പൊസ്തലന് അല്ലെന്നുവരികില് എങ്ങനെയെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആകുന്നു; കര്ത്താവില് എന്റെ അപ്പൊസ്തലത്വത്തിന്റെ മുദ്ര നിങ്ങളല്ലോ.

2. If, unto others, I am not an apostle, certainly at least, unto you, I am; for, the seal of my apostleship, ye, are in the Lord.

3. എന്നെ വിധിക്കുന്നവരോടു ഞാന് പറയുന്ന പ്രതിവാദം ഇതാകുന്നു.

3. My defence, unto them who are examining me, is this:

4. തിന്നുവാനും കുടിപ്പാനും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അധികാരമില്ലയോ?

4. Have we not a right to eat and drink?

5. ശേഷം അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും കര്ത്താവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും കേഫാവും ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ ഭാര്യ്യയായോരു സഹോദരിയുമായി സഞ്ചരിപ്പാന് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അധികാരമില്ലയൊ?

5. Have we not a right to take round, a sister wife, as even the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

6. അല്ല, വേല ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് എനിക്കും ബര്ന്നബാസിന്നും മാത്രം അധികാരമില്ല എന്നുണ്ടോ?

6. Or have, only I and Barnabas, not a right to forbear working?

7. സ്വന്ത ചെലവിന്മേല് യുദ്ധസേവ ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ആര്? മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കി അതിന്റെ ഫലം തിന്നാതിരിക്കുന്നവന് ആര്? ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെ മേയിച്ചു കൂട്ടത്തിന്റെ പാല്കൊണ്ടു ഉപജീവിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നവന് ആര്?

7. Who serveth as a soldier, at his own charges, at any time? Who planteth a vineyard, and, the fruit thereof, doth not eat? Or who shepherdeth a flock, and, of the milk of the flock, doth not eat?

8. ഞാന് ഇതു മനുഷ്യരുടെ മര്യ്യാദപ്രകാരമോ പറയുന്നതു? ന്യായപ്രമാണവും ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുന്നില്ലയോ?

8. Is it, after the manner of men, that these things I am saying? Or doth not, even the law, the same things, say?

9. “മെതിക്കുന്ന കാളെക്കു മുഖക്കൊട്ട കെട്ടരുതു” എന്നു മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ദൈവം കാളെക്കു വേണ്ടിയോ ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതു?

9. For, in the law of Moses, it is written Thou shalt not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the corn: Is it, for the oxen, God is caring?

10. അല്ല, കേവലം നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി പറയുന്നതോ? അതേ, ഉഴുന്നവന് ആശയോടെ ഉഴുകയും മെതിക്കുന്നവന് പതം കിട്ടും എന്നുള്ള ആശയോടെ മെതിക്കയും വേണ്ടതാകയാല് നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതത്രെ.

10. Or, for our sakes altogether, is he saying it? For our sakes, it was written; because, he that ploweth, ought, to plow, in hope, and, he that thresheth, to thresh in hope of partaking.

11. ഞങ്ങള് ആത്മീകമായതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിതെച്ചിട്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഐഹികമായതു കൊയ്താല് വലിയ കാര്യ്യമോ?

11. If, we, unto you, the things of the Spirit have sown, is it a great matter, if, we, of you, the things of the flesh shall reap?

12. മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ മേല് ഈ അധികാരം ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു എത്ര അധികം? എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള് ഈ അധികാരം പ്രയോഗിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സുവിശേഷത്തിന്നു യാതൊരു വിഘ്നവും വരുത്താതിരിപ്പാന് സകലവും പൊറുക്കുന്നു.

12. If, others, of this right, over you, are partaking, should not rather, we? nevertheless, we used not this right; but, all such things, do we conceal, lest we should cause any hindrance unto the glad message of the Christ.

13. ദൈവാലയകര്മ്മങ്ങള് നടത്തുന്നവര് ദൈവാലയംകൊണ്ടു ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു എന്നും യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കല് ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്യുന്നവര് യാഗപീഠത്തിലെ വഴിപാടുകളില് ഔഹരിക്കാര് ആകുന്നു എന്നും നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

13. Know ye not that, they who labour in the holy rites, do eat the provisions out of the holy place? They who at the altar wait, do, with the altar, share?

14. അതുപോലെ കര്ത്താവും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നവര് സുവിശേഷത്താല് ഉപജീവിക്കേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. Thus, also, hath the Lord, appointed that, they who the glad message tell, should, of the glad-message, live.

15. എങ്കിലും ഇതു ഒന്നും ഞാന് പ്രയോഗിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഇങ്ങനെ എനിക്കു കിട്ടേണം എന്നുവെച്ചു ഞാന് ഇതു എഴുതുന്നതും അല്ല; ആരെങ്കിലും എന്റെ പ്രശംസ വൃഥാവാക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാള് മരിക്ക തന്നേ എനിക്കു നല്ലതു.

15. I, however, have not used any of these things; and have not written these things, in order that, so it should be done, in my case; for it were, good for me, rather to die than my boast, shall, no man, make void!

16. ഞാന് സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് എനിക്കു പ്രശംസിപ്പാന് ഒന്നുമില്ല. നിര്ബ്ബന്ധം എന്റെ മേല് കിടക്കുന്നു. ഞാന് സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് എനിക്കു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

16. For, if I be telling the glad-message, it is, with me, no matter of boasting; for, necessity, upon me, lieth, for it is, Woe to me, if I should not be telling the glad-message;

17. ഞാന് അതു മനഃപൂര്വ്വം നടത്തുന്നു എങ്കില് എനിക്കു പ്രതിഫലം ഉണ്ടു; മനഃപൂര്വ്വമല്ലെങ്കിലും കാര്യ്യം എങ്കല് ഭരമേല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. For, if, by choice, this thing I am doing, I have, a reward; but, if not by choice, with a stewardship, have I been entrusted!

18. എന്നാല് എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം എന്തു? സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുമ്പോള് സുവിശേഷഘോഷണത്തിലുള്ള അധികാരം മുഴുവനും ഉപയോഗിക്കാതെ ഞാന് സുവിശേഷഘോഷണം ചെലവുകൂടാതെ നടത്തുന്നതു തന്നേ.

18. What, then, is my reward? that, in telling the glad-message, free of cost, I should put the glad-message, to the end I should not use to the full my right in the glad-message.

19. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാന് കേവലം സ്വതന്ത്രന് എങ്കിലും അധികംപേരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് എന്നെത്തന്നേ എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ദാസനാക്കി.

19. For, though free from all, unto all, myself, I enslaved, that, the larger number, I might win:

20. യെഹൂദന്മാരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും യെഹൂദനെപ്പോലെ ആയി; ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവന് അല്ല എങ്കിലും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവര്ക്കും ന്യാപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവനെപ്പോലെ ആയി.

20. Therefore became I, to the Jews, as, a Jew, that, Jews, I might win; to them who were under law, as, under law, not being, myself, under law, that, them who were under law, I might win;

21. ദൈവത്തിന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണമില്ലാത്തവന് ആകാതെ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണമുള്ളവനായിരിക്കെ, ന്യയപ്രമാണമില്ലാത്തവരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് ന്യായപ്രമാണമില്ലാത്തവര്ക്കും ന്യായപ്രമാണമില്ലാത്തവനെപ്പോലെ ആയി.

21. To them who were without law, as, without law, not being without law to God, but lawfully subject to Christ, that I might win them who were without law.

22. ബലഹീനന്മാരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് ബലഹീനര്ക്കും ബലഹീനനായി; ഏതുവിധത്തിലും ചിലരെ രക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും എല്ലാമായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

22. I became, unto the weak, weak, that, the weak, I might win; to all men, have I become all things, that, by all means, some, I might save.

23. സുവിശേഷത്തില് ഒരു പങ്കാളിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് സകലവും സുവിശേഷം നിമിത്തം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

23. But, all things, am I doing, for the sake of the glad-message, that a joint-partaker thereof, I may become.

24. ഔട്ടക്കളത്തില് ഔടുന്നവര് എല്ലാവരും ഔടുന്നു എങ്കിലും ഒരുവനേ വിരുതു പ്രാപിക്കുന്നുള്ളു എന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ? നിങ്ങളും പ്രാപിപ്പാന്തക്കവണ്ണം ഔടുവിന് .

24. Know ye not that, they who, in a racecourse, run, all, indeed, run, but, one, receiveth the prize? So, be running, that ye may lay hold.

25. അങ്കം പൊരുന്നവന് ഒക്കെയും സകലത്തിലും വര്ജ്ജനം ആചരിക്കുന്നു. അതോ, അവര് വാടുന്ന കിരീടവും നാമോ വാടാത്തതും പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

25. But, every man who striveth in the games, in all things, useth self-control; they, indeed, then, that a corruptible crown, they may receive; but, we, an incorruptible!

26. ആകയാല് ഞാന് നിശ്ചയമില്ലാത്തവണ്ണമല്ല ഔടുന്നതു; ആകാശത്തെ കുത്തുന്നതു പോലെയല്ല ഞാന് മുഷ്ടിയുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

26. I, therefore, so, am running, as, not uncertainly, so, am boxing, as not thrashing air;

27. മറ്റുള്ളവരോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചശേഷം ഞാന് തന്നേ കൊള്ളരുതാത്തവനായി പോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ ശരീരത്തെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു അടിമയാക്കുകയത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

27. But am beating my body under, and leading it captive, lest, by any means, unto others, having proclaimed, the contest , I myself, should be rejected.
