1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നാം തിരിഞ്ഞു ചെങ്കടല് വഴിയായി മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; നാം ഏറിയനാള് സേയീര്പര്വ്വതത്തെ ചുറ്റിനടന്നു.

1. 'And we turn, and journey into the wilderness, the way of the Red Sea, as Jehovah hath spoken unto me, and we go round the mount of Seir many days.

2. പിന്നെ യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു

2. 'And Jehovah speaketh unto me, saying,

3. നിങ്ങള് ഈ പര്വ്വതം ചുറ്റിനടന്നതു മതി; വടക്കോട്ടു തിരിവിന് .

3. Enough to you -- is the going round of this mount; turn for yourselves northward.

4. നീ ജനത്തോടു കല്പിക്കേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്സേയീരില് കുടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളായ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അതിരില്കൂടി നിങ്ങള് കടപ്പാന് പോകുന്നു. അവര് നിങ്ങളെ പേടിക്കും; ആകയാല് ഏറ്റവും സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം.

4. 'And the people command thou, saying, Ye are passing over into the border of your brethren, sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, and they are afraid of you; and ye have been very watchful,

5. നിങ്ങള് അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കരുതുഅവരുടെ ദേശത്തു ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു കാല് വെപ്പാന് പോലും ഇടം തരികയില്ല; സേയീര്പര്വ്വതം ഞാന് ഏശാവിന്നു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. ye do not strive with them, for I do not give to you of their land even the treading of the sole of a foot; for a possession to Esau I have given mount Seir.

6. നിങ്ങള് അവരോടു ആഹാരം വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി കഴിക്കേണം; വെള്ളവും വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി കുടിക്കേണം.

6. 'Food ye buy from them with money, and have eaten; and also water ye buy from them with money, and have drunk,

7. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്റെ കൈകളുടെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തിയിലും നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ മഹാമരുഭൂമിയില് നീ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നതു അവന് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു; നിനക്കു യാതൊന്നിന്നും മുട്ടും വന്നിട്ടില്ല.

7. for Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hands; He hath known thy walking in this great wilderness these forty years; Jehovah thy God [is] with thee; thou hast not lacked anything.

8. അങ്ങനെ നാം സേയീരില് കുടിയിരുന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളായ നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒഴിച്ചു അരാബവഴിയായി ഏലാത്തിന്റെയും എസ്യോന് -ഗേബെരിന്റെയും അരികത്തുകൂടി കടന്നിട്ടു തിരിഞ്ഞു മോവാബ് മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി കടന്നുപോന്നു.

8. 'And we pass by from our brethren, sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, by the way of the plain, by Elath, and by Ezion-Gaber; and we turn, and pass over the way of the wilderness of Moab;

9. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുമോവാബ്യരെ ഞെരുക്കരുതു; അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കയും അരുതു; ഞാന് അവരുടെ ദേശത്തു നിനക്കു ഒരു അവകാശം തരികയില്ല; ആര്ദേശത്തെ ഞാന് ലോത്തിന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു -

9. and Jehovah saith unto me, Do not distress Moab, nor stir thyself up against them [in] battle, for I do not give to thee of their land [for] a possession; for to the sons of Lot I have given Ar [for] a possession.'

10. വലിപ്പവും പെരുപ്പവും അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ പൊക്കവുമുള്ള ജാതിയായ ഏമ്യര് പണ്ടു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു.

10. 'The Emim formerly have dwelt in it, a people great, and numerous, and tall, as the Anakim;

11. ഇവരെ അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ മല്ലന്മാര് എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചുവരുന്നു; മോവാബ്യരോ അവര്ക്കും ഏമ്യര് എന്നു പേര് പറയുന്നു.

11. Rephaim they are reckoned, they also, as the Anakim; and the Moabites call them Emim.

12. ഹോര്യ്യരും പണ്ടു സേയീരില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കള് അവരെ തങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളകയും സംഹരിക്കയും അവര്ക്കും പകരം കുടിപാര്ക്കയും ചെയ്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്നു യഹോവ കൊടുത്ത അവകാശദേശത്തു അവര് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ. -

12. And in Seir have the Horim dwelt formerly; and the sons of Esau dispossess them, and destroy them from before them, and dwell in their stead, as Israel hath done to the land of his possession, which Jehovah hath given to them;

13. ഇപ്പോള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു സേരെദ് തോടു കടപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നാം സേരെദ് തോടു കടന്നു;

13. now, rise ye, and pass over for yourselves the brook Zered; and we pass over the brook Zered.

14. നാം കാദേശ് ബര്ന്നേയയില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടതുമുതല് സേരെദ് തോടു കടക്കുംവരെയുള്ള കാലം മുപ്പത്തെട്ടു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; അതിന്നിടയില് യോദ്ധാക്കളായിരുന്ന തലമുറ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ അവരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

14. 'And the days which we have walked from Kadesh-Barnea until that we have passed over the brook Zered, [are] thirty and eight years, till the consumption of all the generation of the men of battle from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah hath sworn to them;

15. അവര് മുടിഞ്ഞുതീരുംവരെ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ അവരെ പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവര്ക്കും വിരോധമായിരുന്നു.

15. and also the hand of Jehovah hath been against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp, till they are consumed.

16. ഇങ്ങനെ യോദ്ധാക്കള് ഒക്കെയും ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു മരിച്ചു ഒടുങ്ങിയശേഷം

16. 'And it cometh to pass, when all the men of battle have finished dying from the midst of the people,

17. യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു

17. that Jehovah speaketh unto me, saying,

18. നീ ഇന്നു ആര് എന്ന മോവാബ്യദേശത്തുകൂടി കടപ്പാന് പോകുന്നു.

18. Thou art passing over to-day the border of Moab, even Ar,

19. അമ്മോന്യരോടു അടുത്തു ചെല്ലുമ്പോള് അവരെ ഞെരുക്കരുതു; അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കയും അരുതു; ഞാന് അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു നിനക്കു അവകാശം തരികയില്ല; അതു ഞാന് ലോത്തിന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. -

19. and thou hast come near over-against the sons of Ammon, thou dost not distress them, nor stir up thyself against them, for I do not give [any] of the land of the sons of Ammon to thee [for] a possession; for to the sons of Lot I have given it [for] a possession.

20. അതും മല്ലന്മാരുടെ ദേശമെന്നു വിചാരിച്ചുവരുന്നു; മല്ലന്മാര് പണ്ടു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു; അമ്മോന്യര് അവരെ സംസുമ്മ്യര് എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

20. 'A land of Rephaim it is reckoned, even it; Rephaim dwelt in it formerly, and the Ammonites call them Zamzummim;

21. അവര് വലിപ്പവും പെരുപ്പവും അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ പൊക്കവുമുള്ള ജാതിയായിരുന്നു; എങ്കിലും യഹോവ അവരെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കി അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു കുടിപാര്ത്തു.

21. a people great, and numerous, and tall, as the Anakim, and Jehovah destroyeth them before them, and they dispossess them, and dwell in their stead,

22. അവന് സേയീരില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ, അവന് ഹോര്യ്യരെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടു അവര് അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കി അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു ഇന്നുവരെയും പാര്ക്കുംന്നു.

22. as He hath done for the sons of Esau, who are dwelling in Seir, when He destroyed the Horim from before them, and they dispossess them, and dwell in their stead, unto this day.

23. കഫ്തോരില്നിന്നു വന്ന കഫ്തോര്യ്യരും ഗസ്സാവരെയുള്ള ഊരുകളില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന അവ്യരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു കുടിപാര്ത്തു -

23. 'As to the Avim who are dwelling in Hazerim unto Azzah, the Caphtorim -- who are coming out from Caphtor -- have destroyed them, and dwell in their stead.

24. നിങ്ങള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു അര്ന്നോന് താഴ്വര കടപ്പിന് ; ഇതാ, ഞാന് ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ അമോര്യ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവനോടു പടവെട്ടി അതു കൈവശമാക്കുവാന് തുടങ്ങുക.

24. 'Rise ye, journey and pass over the brook Arnon; see, I have given into thy hand Sihon king of Heshbon, the Amorite, and his land; begin to possess, and stir up thyself against him [in] battle.

25. നിന്നെയുള്ള പേടിയും ഭീതിയും ആകാശത്തിങ്കീഴെങ്ങും ഉള്ള ജാതികളുടെ മേല് വരുത്തുവാന് ഞാന് ഇന്നു തന്നേ തുടങ്ങും; അവര് നിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേട്ടു നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം വിറെക്കുകയും നടുങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യും.

25. This day I begin to put thy dread and thy fear on the face of the peoples under the whole heavens, who hear thy fame, and have trembled and been pained because of thee.

26. പിന്നെ ഞാന് കെദേമോത്ത് മരുഭൂമിയില് നിന്നു ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ അടുക്കല് സമാധാനവാക്കുകളോടുകൂടെ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു

26. 'And I send messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth, unto Sihon king of Heshbon, -- words of peace -- saying,

27. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദേശത്തു കൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് അനുവദിക്കേണമേ; ഞാന് ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ മാറാതെ പെരുവഴിയില്കൂടി മാത്രം നടക്കും.

27. Let me pass over through thy land; in the several ways I go; I turn not aside -- right or left --

28. സേയീരില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളും ആരില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന മോവാബ്യരും എനിക്കു തന്നതുപോലെ നീ വിലെക്കു തരുന്ന ആഹാരം ഞാന് കഴിക്കയും വിലെക്കു തരുന്ന വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം.

28. food for money thou dost sell me, and I have eaten; and water for money thou dost give to me, and I have drunk; only, let me pass over on my feet, --

29. യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു എത്തുവോളം കാല്നടയായി പോകുവാന് മാത്രം അനുവദിക്കേണം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

29. as the sons of Esau who are dwelling in Seir, and the Moabites who are dwelling in Ar, have done to me -- till that I pass over the Jordan, unto the land which Jehovah our God is giving to us.

30. എന്നാല് നാം തന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന് സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല; ഇന്നു കാണുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനെ നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ മനസ്സു കടുപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കി.

30. 'And Sihon king of Heshbon hath not been willing to let us pass over by him, for Jehovah thy God hath hardened his spirit, and strengthened his heart, so as to give him into thy hand as at this day.

31. യഹോവ എന്നോടുഞാന് സീഹോനെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു അടക്കുവാന് തുടങ്ങുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

31. 'And Jehovah saith unto me, See, I have begun to give before thee Sihon and his land; begin to possess -- to possess his land.

32. അങ്ങനെ സീഹോനും അവന്റെ സര്വ്വജനവും നമ്മുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു യാഹാസില്വെച്ചു പടയേറ്റു.

32. 'And Sihon cometh out to meet us, he and all his people, to battle to Jahaz;

33. നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനെ നമ്മുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; നാം അവനെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ സര്വ്വജനത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.

33. and Jehovah our God giveth him before us, and we smite him, and his sons, and all his people;

34. അക്കാലത്തു നാം അവന്റെ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളും പിടിച്ചു പട്ടണംതോറും പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും ഉന്മൂലനാശം ചെയ്തു; ഒരുത്തനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ല.

34. and we capture all his cities at that time, and devote the whole city, men, and the women, and the infants -- we have not left a remnant;

35. നാല്ക്കാലികളെയും നാം പിടിച്ച പട്ടണങ്ങളിലെ കൊള്ളയും മാത്രം നാം നമുക്കായിട്ടു എടുത്തു.

35. only, the cattle we have spoiled for ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we have captured.

36. അര്ന്നോന് താഴ്വരയുടെ അറ്റത്തുള്ള അരോവേരും താഴ്വരയിലെ പട്ടണവുംമുതല് ഗിലെയാദ്വരെ നമ്മുടെ കൈകൂ എത്താതെ ഒരു പട്ടണവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ സകലവും നമ്മുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

36. 'From Aroer, which [is] by the edge of the brook Arnon, and the city which [is] by the brook, even unto Gilead there hath not been a city which [is] too high for us; the whole hath Jehovah our God given before us.

37. അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശവും യബ്ബോക്ക് നദിയുടെ ഒരു വശമൊക്കെയും മലനാട്ടിലെ പട്ടണങ്ങളും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മോടു വിലക്കിയ ഇടങ്ങളും മാത്രം നീ ആക്രമിച്ചില്ല.

37. 'Only, unto the land of the sons of Ammon thou hast not drawn near, any part of the brook Jabbok, and cities of the hill-country, and anything which Jehovah our God hath [not] commanded.
