1. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, കാലങ്ങളെയും സമയങ്ങളെയും കുറിച്ചു നിങ്ങളെ എഴുതിയറിയിപ്പാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല.

1. Now, brothers and sisters, we do not need to write you about times and dates.

2. കള്ളന് രാത്രിയില് വരുമ്പോലെ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ നാള് വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് തന്നേ നന്നായി അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

2. You know very well that the day the Lord comes again will be a surprise, like a thief that comes in the night.

3. അവര് സമാധാനമെന്നും നിര്ഭയമെന്നും പറയുമ്പോള് ഗര്ഭിണിക്കു പ്രസവ വേദന വരുമ്പോലെ അവര്ക്കും പെട്ടെന്നു നാശം വന്നു ഭവിക്കും; അവര്ക്കും തെറ്റിയൊഴിയാവതുമല്ല.

3. While people are saying, 'We have peace and we are safe,' they will be destroyed quickly. It is like pains that come quickly to a woman having a baby. Those people will not escape.

4. എന്നാല് സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ആനാള് കള്ളന് എന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങളെ പിടിപ്പാന് നിങ്ങള് ഇരുട്ടിലുള്ളവരല്ല;

4. But you, brothers and sisters, are not living in darkness, and so that day will not surprise you like a thief.

5. നിങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും വെളിച്ചത്തിന്റെ മക്കളും പകലിന്റെ മക്കളും ആകുന്നു; നാം രാത്രിക്കും ഇരുളിന്നുമുള്ളവരല്ല.

5. You are all people who belong to the light and to the day. We do not belong to the night or to darkness.

6. ആകയാല് നാം ശേഷമുള്ളവരെപ്പോലെ ഉറങ്ങാതെ ഉണര്ന്നും സുബോധമായുമിരിക്ക.

6. So we should not be like other people who are sleeping, but we should be alert and have self-control.

7. ഉറങ്ങുന്നവര് രാത്രിയില് ഉറങ്ങുന്നു. മദ്യപിക്കുന്നവര് രാത്രിയില് മദ്യപിക്കുന്നു.

7. Those who sleep, sleep at night. Those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

8. നാമോ പകലിന്നുള്ളവരാകയാല് വിശ്വാസവും സ്നേഹവും എന്ന കവചവും ശിരസ്ത്രമായി രക്ഷയുടെ പ്രത്യാശയും ധരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു സുബോധമായിരിക്ക.

8. But we belong to the day, so we should control ourselves. We should wear faith and love to protect us, and the hope of salvation should be our helmet.

9. ദൈവം നമ്മെ കോപത്തിന്നല്ല,

9. God did not choose us to suffer his anger but to have salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

10. നാം ഉണര്ന്നിരുന്നാലും ഉറങ്ങിയാലും തന്നോടുകൂടെ ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി മരിച്ച നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുമൂലം രക്ഷയെ പ്രാപിപ്പാനത്രേ നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു.

10. Jesus died for us so that we can live together with him, whether we are alive or dead when he comes.

11. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് ചെയ്തുവരുന്നതുപോലെ അന്യോന്യം പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചും തമ്മില് ആത്മിക വര്ദ്ധനവരുത്തിയും പോരുവിന് .

11. So encourage each other and give each other strength, just as you are doing now.

12. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് അദ്ധ്വാനിക്കയും കര്ത്താവില് നിങ്ങളെ ഭരിക്കയും പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവരെ അറിഞ്ഞു അവരുടെ വേലനിമിത്തം

12. Now, brothers and sisters, we ask you to appreciate those who work hard among you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you.

13. ഏറ്റവും സ്നേഹത്തോടെ വിചാരിക്കേണം എന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. തമ്മില് സമാധാനമായിരിപ്പിന് .

13. Respect them with a very special love because of the work they do. Live in peace with each other.

14. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുക്രമം കെട്ടവരെ ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിപ്പിന് ഉള്ക്കരുത്തില്ലാത്തവരെ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തുവിന് ; ബലഹീനരെ താങ്ങുവിന് ; എല്ലാവരോടും ദീര്ഘക്ഷമ കാണിപ്പിന് .

14. We ask you, brothers and sisters, to warn those who do not work. Encourage the people who are afraid. Help those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.

15. ആരും തിന്മകൂ പകരം തിന്മ ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് നോക്കുവിന് ; തമ്മിലും എല്ലാവരോടും എപ്പോഴും നന്മ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിപ്പിന് ;

15. Be sure that no one pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to do what is good for each other and for all people.

16. എപ്പോഴും സന്തോഷിപ്പിന് ;

16. Always be joyful.

17. ഇടവിടാതെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പിന്

17. Pray continually,

18. എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്വിന് ; ഇതല്ലോ നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവില് ദൈവേഷ്ടം.

18. and give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.

19. ആത്മാവിനെ കെടുക്കരുതു.

19. Do not hold back the work of the Holy Spirit.

20. പ്രവചനം തുച്ഛീകരിക്കരുതു.

20. Do not treat prophecy as if it were unimportant.

21. സകലവും ശോധന ചെയ്തു നല്ലതു മുറുകെ പിടിപ്പിന് .

21. But test everything. Keep what is good,

22. സകലവിധദോഷവും വിട്ടകലുവിന് .

22. and stay away from everything that is evil.

23. സമാധാനത്തിന്റെ ദൈവം തന്നേ നിങ്ങളെ മുഴുവനും ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മാവും പ്രാണനും ദേഹവും അശേഷം നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് അനിന്ദ്യമായി വെളിപ്പെടുംവണ്ണം കാക്കപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ.

23. Now may God himself, the God of peace, make you pure, belonging only to him. May your whole self -- spirit, soul, and body -- be kept safe and without fault when our Lord Jesus Christ comes.

24. നിങ്ങളെ വിളിക്കുന്നവന് വിശ്വസ്തന് ആകുന്നു; അവന് അതു നിവര്ത്തിക്കും.

24. You can trust the One who calls you to do that for you.

25. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പിന് .

25. Brothers and sisters, pray for us.

26. സകല സഹോദരന്മാരെയും വിശുദ്ധചുംബനത്താല് വന്ദനം ചെയ്വിന് .

26. Give each other a holy kiss when you meet.

27. കര്ത്താവാണ, സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും ഈ ലേഖനം വായിച്ചു കേള്പ്പിക്കേണം.

27. I tell you by the authority of the Lord to read this letter to all the believers.

28. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ കൃപ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.
