1. അക്കാലത്തു യോശുവ രൂബേന്യരേയും ഗാദ്യരെയും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തെയും വിളിച്ചു.

1. Then Joshua called together the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh,

2. അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശെ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങള് പ്രമാണിക്കയും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ച സകലത്തിലും എന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. and said to them, You have heard all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, and you have hearkened to my voice in all that he commanded you.

3. നിങ്ങള് ഈ കാലമൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഇന്നുവരെ വിട്ടുപിരിയാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. You have not deserted your brethren these many days. Until this day you have kept the commandment of the Lord your God.

4. And now the Lord our God has given our brethren rest, as He told them. Now then, return and depart to your homes, and to the land of your possession, which Moses gave you on the other side of the Jordan.

5. But take great heed to do the commands and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you to do; to love the Lord our God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commands, and to cleave to Him, and serve Him with all your mind, and with all your soul.

6. ഇങ്ങനെ യോശുവ അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു യാത്ര അയച്ചു. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ വീടുകളിലേക്കു പോകയും ചെയ്തു.

6. And Joshua blessed them, and dismissed them; and they went to their homes.

7. മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തിന്നു മോശെ ബാശാനില് അവകാശം കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു; മറ്റെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തിന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നിക്കരെ പടിഞ്ഞാറു അവരുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് യോശുവ കൊടുത്തു; അവരെ അവരുടെ വീടുകളിലേക്കു അയച്ചപ്പോള്

7. And to [one] half the tribe of Manasseh Moses gave a portion in the land of Bashan, and to [the other] half Joshua gave a portion with his brethren on the other side of the Jordan westward: and when Joshua sent them away to their homes, then he blessed them.

8. And they departed with much wealth to their houses, and they divided the spoil of their enemies with their brethren; very much livestock, and silver, and gold, and iron, and much clothing.

9. അങ്ങനെ രൂബേന്യരും ഗാദ്യരും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രവും മോശെമുഖാന്തരം യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവര് കൈവശമാക്കിയിരുന്ന അവകാശദേശമായ ഗിലെയാദ് ദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു കനാന് ദേശത്തിലെ ശീലോവില്നിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെ വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

9. So the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, departed from the children of Israel in Shiloh in the land of Canaan, to go away into Gilead, into the land of their possession, which they inherited by the command of the Lord, by the hand of Moses.

10. അവര് കനാന് ദേശത്തിലെ യോര്ദ്ദാന്യപ്രദേശങ്ങളില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് രൂബേന്യരും ഗാദ്യരും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രവും യോര്ദ്ദാന്നു സമീപത്തു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു.

10. And they came to Gilead of the Jordan, which is in the land of Canaan. And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh built there an alter by the Jordan, a great altar to look at.

11. And the children of Israel heard [someone] say, Behold, the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have built an alter at the borders of the land of Canaan at Gilead of the Jordan, on the opposite side to the children of Israel.

12. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ സഭ മുഴുവനും അവരോടു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവാന് ശീലോവില് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി.

12. And all the children of Israel gathered together to Shiloh, so as to go up and fight against them.

13. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് ഗിലെയാദ് ദേശത്തു രൂബേന്യരുടെയും ഗാദ്യരുടെയും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തിന്റെയും അടുക്കല് പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ മകനായ

13. And the children of Israel sent to the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and to the sons of the half-tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, both Phinehas the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest,

14. ഫീനെഹാസിനെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലഗോത്രങ്ങളില്നിന്നും ഔരോ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്നു ഔരോ പ്രഭുവീതം പത്തു പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരേയും അയച്ചു; അവരില് ഔരോരുത്തനും താന്താന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തില് യിസ്രായേല്യസഹസ്രങ്ങള്ക്കു തലവനായിരുന്നു.

14. and ten of the chiefs with him; [there was] one chief of every household out of all the tribes of Israel (the heads of families are the captains of thousands in Israel).

15. അവര് ഗിലെയാദ് ദേശത്തു രൂബേന്യരുടെയും ഗാദ്യരുടെയും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തിന്റെയും അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

15. And they came to the sons of Reuben, and to the sons of Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead; and they spoke to them, saying,

16. യഹോവയുടെ സഭ മുഴുവനും ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നുനിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു യഹോവയോടു മത്സരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു ഇന്നു യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ദ്രോഹം എന്തു?

16. Thus says the whole congregation of the Lord: What [is] this transgression that you have transgressed before the God of Israel, to turn away today from the Lord, in that you have built for yourselves an altar, so that you should be apostates from the Lord?

17. പെയോര് സംബന്ധിച്ചുണ്ടായ അകൃത്യം നമുക്കു പോരായോ? അതുനിമിത്തം യഹോവയുടെ സഭെക്കു ബാധ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടും നാം ഇന്നുവരെ അതു നീക്കി നമ്മെത്തന്നെ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു തീര്ന്നിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ.

17. Is the sin of Peor too little for you, whereas we have not been cleansed from it until this day, though there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord?

18. നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു യഹോവയെ വിട്ടു മാറുവാന് പോകുന്നുവോ? നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു യഹോവയോടു മത്സരിക്കുന്നു; നാളെ അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സര്വ്വസഭയോടും കോപിപ്പാന് സംഗതിയാകും.

18. And you have revolted this day from the Lord; and it shall come to pass if you revolt this day from the Lord, that tomorrow there shall be wrath upon all Israel.

19. നിങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശദേശം അശുദ്ധം എന്നുവരികില് യഹോവയുടെ തിരുനിവാസം ഇരിക്കുന്നതായ യഹോവയുടെ അവകാശദേശത്തേക്കു കടന്നുവന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് അവകാശം വാങ്ങുവിന് ; എന്നാല് നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ യാഗപീഠം ഒഴികെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു യഹോവയോടു മത്സരിക്കരുതു; ഞങ്ങളോടും മത്സരിക്കരുതു.

19. And now if the land of your possession [is too] little, cross over to the land of the possession of the Lord, where the tabernacle of the Lord dwells, and receive an inheritance among us; and do not become apostates from God, neither do you apostatize from the Lord, because of your having built an altar apart from the altar of the Lord our God.

20. സേരഹിന്റെ മകനായ ആഖാന് ശപഥാര്പ്പിതവസ്തു സംബന്ധിച്ചു ഒരു കുറ്റം ചെയ്കയാല് കോപം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സര്വ്വസഭയുടെയും മേല് വീണില്ലയോ? അവന് മാത്രമല്ലല്ലോ അവന്റെ അകൃത്യത്താല് നശിച്ചതു.

20. Lo! Did not Achan the [son] of Zerah commit a trespass, [taking] of the accursed thing, and there was wrath on the whole congregation of Israel? And he himself died alone in his own sin.

21. അതിന്നു രൂബേന്യരും ഗാദ്യരും മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രവും യിസ്രായേല്യസഹസ്രങ്ങളുടെ തലവന്മാരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു

21. And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh answered, and spoke to the captains of the thousands of Israel, saying,

22. സര്വ്വവല്ലഭനാകുന്ന ദൈവമായ യഹോവ, സര്വ്വവല്ലഭനാകുന്ന ദൈവമായ യഹോവ തന്നേ അറിയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേലും അറിയട്ടെ! ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവയോടുള്ള മത്സരത്താലോ ദ്രോഹത്താലോ--അങ്ങനെയെങ്കില് ഇന്നു തന്നേ നിന്റെ രക്ഷ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കില്ലാതെ പോകട്ടെ--

22. God, [even] God is the Lord, and [even] God Himself knows, and Israel shall know; if we have transgressed before the Lord by apostasy, let Him not deliver us this day.

23. യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു എങ്കില്, അല്ല അതിന്മേല് ഹോമയാഗവും ഭോജനയാഗവും അര്പ്പിപ്പാനോ സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങള് കഴിപ്പാനോ ആകുന്നു എങ്കില് യഹോവ തന്നേ ചോദിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ.

23. And if we have built to ourselves an altar, so as to apostatize from the Lord our God, so as to offer upon it a sacrifice of whole burnt offerings, so as to offer upon it a sacrifice of peace offering, the Lord shall require it.

24. നാളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോടുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുമായി നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എന്തു കാര്യമുള്ളു?

24. But we have done this for the sake of precaution [concerning this] thing, saying, Lest hereafter your sons should say to our sons, What have you to do with the Lord God of Israel?

25. ഞങ്ങളുടെയും രൂബേന്യരും ഗാദ്യരുമായ നിങ്ങളുടെയും മദ്ധ്യേ യഹോവ യോര്ദ്ദാനെ അതിരാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു യഹോവയില് ഒരു ഔഹരിയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ മക്കള്ക്കു യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടാതിരിപ്പാന് സംഗതിവരുത്തും എന്നുള്ള ശങ്കകൊണ്ടല്ലയോ ഞങ്ങള് ഇതു ചെയ്തതു?

25. Whereas the Lord has set boundaries between us and you, even the Jordan, and you have no portion in the Lord: so your sons shall alienate our sons, that they should not worship the Lord.

26. അതുകൊണ്ടു നാം ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിക എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞു; ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നല്ല ഹനനയാഗത്തിന്നുമല്ല.

26. And we gave orders to do thus, to build this altar, not for burnt offerings, nor for meat offerings;

27. ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധാനത്തില് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളാലും ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളാലും സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളാലും അവന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷ അനുഷ്ഠിക്കയും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കള് നാളെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോടുനിങ്ങള്ക്കു യഹോവയില് ഒരു ഔഹരിയില്ല എന്നു പറയാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും നമ്മുടെ ശേഷം നമ്മുടെ സന്തതികള്ക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ ഒരു സാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നുമത്രേ.

27. but that this may be a witness between you and us, and between our posterity after us, that we may do service to the Lord before Him, with our burnt offerings and our meat offerings and our peace offerings: so your sons shall not say to our sons, hereafter, You have no portion in the Lord.

28. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞതുനാളെ അവര് നമ്മോടോ നമ്മുടെ സന്തതികളോടോ അങ്ങനെ പറയുമ്പോള്ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നല്ല ഹനനയാഗത്തിന്നുമല്ല ഞങ്ങള്ക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ സാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് ഉണ്ടാക്കീട്ടുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിരൂപം കാണ്മിന് എന്നു മറുപടി പറവാന് ഇടയാകും.

28. And we said, If ever it should come to pass that they should speak [so] to us, or to our posterity hereafter; then shall they say, Behold the likeness of the altar of the Lord, which our fathers made, not for the sake of burnt offerings, nor for the sake of meat offerings, but it is a witness between you and us, and between our sons.

29. ഞങ്ങള് നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ തിരുനിവാസത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെയുള്ള അവന്റെ യാഗപീഠം ഒഴികെ ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നോ ഭോജനയാഗത്തിന്നോ ഹനനയാഗത്തിന്നോ വേറൊരു യാഗപീഠം ഉണ്ടാക്കീട്ടു യഹോവയോടു മത്സരിക്കയും ഇന്നു യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയും ചെയ്വാന് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു സംഗതി വരരുതേ.

29. Far be it from us therefore that we should turn away from the Lord this day so as to apostatize from the Lord, so as that we should build an altar for burnt offerings, and for peace offerings, besides the altar of the Lord which is before His tabernacle.

30. രൂബേന്യരും ഗാദ്യരും മനശ്ശെയുടെ മക്കളും പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകള് പുരോഹിതനായ ഫീനെഹാസും അവനോടുകൂടെ സഭയുടെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരായി യിസ്രായേല്യസഹസ്രങ്ങള്ക്കു തലവന്മാരായവരും കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവര്ക്കും സന്തോഷമായി.

30. And Phinehas the priest and all the chiefs of the congregation of Israel who were with him heard the words which the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh spoke, and it pleased them.

31. പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ മകന് ഫീനെഹാസ് രൂബേന്റെ മക്കളോടും ഗാദിന്റെ മക്കളോടും മനശ്ശെയുടെ മക്കളോടുംനിങ്ങള് യഹോവയോടു ഈ അകൃത്യം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് ഇന്നു അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെ യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. And Phinehas the priest said to the sons of Reuben, and to the sons of Gad, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh, Today we know that the Lord [is] with us, because you have not trespassed grievously against the Lord, and because you have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the Lord.

32. പിന്നെ പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ മകന് ഫീനെഹാസും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും രൂബേന്യരെയും ഗാദ്യരെയും വിട്ടു ഗിലെയാദ് ദേശത്തു നിന്നു കനാന് ദേശത്തേക്കു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു അവരോടു വസ്തുത അറിയിച്ചു.

32. So Phinehas the priest and the princes departed from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh out of Gilead into the land of Canaan to the children of Israel; and reported the words to them.

33. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കു ആ കര്യം സന്തോഷമായി; അവര് ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചു; രൂബേന്യരും ഗാദ്യരും പാര്ത്ത ദേശം നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരോടു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു പിന്നെ മിണ്ടിയതേയില്ല.

33. And it pleased the children of Israel; and they spoke to the children of Israel, and blessed the God of the children of Israel, and told them to go up no more to war against the others to destroy the land of the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. So they dwelt upon it.

34. രൂബേന്യരും ഗാദ്യരും “യഹോവ തന്നേ ദൈവം എന്നതിന്നു ഇതു നമ്മുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ സാക്ഷി” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ആ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്നു ഏദ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

34. And Joshua gave a name to the altar of the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh; and said, It is a testimony in the midst of them, that the Lord is their God.
