1. അനന്തരം യോശുവ അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു, അവനും യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് എല്ലാവരും ശിത്തീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെ വന്നു മറുകര കടക്കുംമുമ്പെ അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.

1. Then Ioshua rose very earely, and they remoued from Shittim, and came to Iorden, he, and all the children of Israel, and lodged there, before they went ouer.

2. മൂന്നു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു പ്രമാണികള് പാളയത്തില്കൂടി നടന്നു ജനത്തോടു കല്പിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാല്

2. And after three dayes the officers went throughout the hoste,

3. നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകത്തെയും അതിനെ ചുമക്കുന്ന ലേവ്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും നിങ്ങള് കാണുമ്പോള് നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥലം വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അതിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെല്ലേണം.

3. And commanded the people, saying, When ye see the Arke of the couenat of the Lord your God, and the Priestes of the Leuites bearing it, ye shall depart from your place, and goe after it.

5. പിന്നെ യോശുവ ജനത്തോടു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന് ; യഹോവ നാളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് അതിശയം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. (Nowe Ioshua had saide vnto the people, Sanctifie your selues: for to morowe the Lord will doe wonders among you)

6. പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു യോശുവനിങ്ങള് നിയമപെട്ടകം എടുത്തു ജനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പായി അക്കരെ കടപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് നിയമപ്പെട്ടകം എടുത്തു ജനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പായി നടന്നു.

6. Also Ioshua spake vnto the Priestes, saying, Take vp the Arke of the couenant, and goe ouer before the people: so they tooke vp the Arke of the couenant, and went before the people.

7. പിന്നെ യഹോവ യോശുവയോടുഞാന് മോശെയോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്നോടുകൂടെയും ഇരിക്കും എന്നു യിസ്രായേല് എല്ലാം അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് ഇന്നു അവര് കാണ്കെ നിന്നെ വലിയവനാക്കുവാന് തുടങ്ങും.

7. Then the Lord saide vnto Ioshua, This day will I begin to magnifie thee in the sight of all Israel, which shall knowe, that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.

8. നിയമപെട്ടകം ചുമക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാര് യോര്ദ്ദാനിലെ വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ വക്കത്തു എത്തുമ്പോള് യോര്ദ്ദാനില് നില്പാന് കല്പിക്ക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

8. Thou shalt therefore command the Priests that beare the Arke of the Couenant, saying, When ye are come to the brinke of the waters of Iorden, ye shall stande still in Iorden.

9. യോശുവ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടുഇവിടെ വന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then Ioshua said vnto the children of Israel, Come hither, and heare the wordes of the Lord your God.

10. യോശുവ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവം നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഉണ്ടു; അവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു കനാന്യര്, ഹിത്യര്, ഹിവ്യര്, പെരിസ്യര്, ഗിര്ഗ്ഗശ്യര്, അമോര്യ്യര്, യെബൂസ്യര് എന്നിവരെ നീക്കിക്കളയും എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഇതിനാല് അറിയും.

10. And Ioshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the liuing God is among you, and that he will certainely cast out before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hiuites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Iebusites.

11. ഇതാ, സര്വ്വഭൂമിക്കും നാഥനായവന്റെ നിയമപെട്ടകം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മുമ്പായി യോര്ദ്ദാനിലേക്കു കടക്കുന്നു.

11. Beholde, the Arke of the couenant of the Lord of all the worlde passeth before you into Iorden.

12. ആകയാല് ഔരോ ഗോത്രത്തില്നിന്നു ഔരോ ആള്വീതം യിസ്രായേല് ഗോത്രങ്ങളില്നിന്നു പന്ത്രണ്ടു ആളെ കൂട്ടുവിന് .

12. Nowe therefore take from among you twelue men out of the tribes of Israel, out of euery tribe a man.

13. സര്വ്വഭൂമിയുടെയും നാഥനായ യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകം ചുമക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ ഉള്ളങ്കാല് യോര്ദ്ദാനിലെ വെള്ളത്തില് ചവിട്ടുമ്പോള് ഉടനെ യോര്ദ്ദാനിലെ വെള്ളം രണ്ടായി പിരിഞ്ഞിട്ടു മേല്നിന്നു ഒഴുകുന്ന വെള്ളം ചിറപോലെ നിലക്കും.

13. And assoone as the soles of the feete of the Priestes (that beare the Arke of the Lord God the Lord of all the worlde) shall stay in the waters of Iorden, the waters of Iorden shall be cut off: for the waters that come from aboue, shall stande still vpon an heape.

14. അങ്ങനെ ജനം യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ കടപ്പാന് തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; നിയമപെട്ടകം ചുമക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാര് ജനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പായി പെട്ടകം ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെ വന്നു.

14. Then when the people were departed from their tentes to goe ouer Iorden, the Priestes bearing the Arke of the Couenant, went before people.

15. കൊയിത്തുകാലത്തൊക്കെയും യോര്ദ്ദാന് തീരമെല്ലാം കവിഞ്ഞു ഒഴുകും. പെട്ടകം ചുമന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ കാല് വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ വക്കത്തു മുങ്ങിയപ്പോള് മേല് വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ ഒഴുകൂ നിന്നു;

15. And as they that bare the Arke came vnto Iorden, and the feete of the Priestes that bare the Arke were dipped in the brinke of the water, (for Iorden vseth to fill all his bankes all the time of haruest)

16. സാരെഥാന്നു സമീപത്തുള്ള ആദാംപട്ടണത്തിന്നരികെ ബഹുദൂരത്തോളം ചിറപോലെ പൊങ്ങി; അരാബയിലെ കടലായ ഉപ്പുകടലിലേക്കു ഒഴുകിയ വെള്ളം വാര്ന്നുപോയി; ജനം യെരീഹോവിന്നു നേരെ മറുകര കടന്നു.

16. Then the waters that came downe from aboue, stayed and rose vpon an heape and departed farre from the citie of Adam, that was beside Zaretan: but the waters that came downe towarde the Sea of the wildernes, euen the salt Sea, failed, and were cut off: so the people went right ouer against Iericho.

17. യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകം ചുമന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാര് യോര്ദ്ദാന്റെ നടുവില് ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തു ഉറെച്ചുനിന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ജനമൊക്കെയും യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നുതീരുവോളം ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തുകൂടിത്തന്നേ നടന്നുപോയി.

17. But the Priestes that bare the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, stoode drie within Iorden readie prepared, and all the Israelites went ouer dry, vntill all the people were gone cleane ouer through Iorden.
