1. എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. ഒരുത്തന് പാപം ചെയ്തു എങ്കിലോ, നീതിമാനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തു എന്ന കാര്യ്യസ്ഥന് നമുക്കു പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഉണ്ടു.

1. My dear children, I am writing this to you so you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, there is One Who will go between him and the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the One Who is right with God.

2. He paid for our sins with His own blood. He did not pay for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world.

3. We can be sure that we know Him if we obey His teaching.

4. അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് കള്ളന് ആകുന്നു; സത്യം അവനില് ഇല്ല.

4. Anyone who says, 'I know Him,' but does not obey His teaching is a liar. There is no truth in him.

5. എന്നാല് ആരെങ്കിലും അവന്റെ വചനം പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അവനില് ദൈവസ്നേഹം വാസ്തവമായി തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. നാം അവനില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഇതിനാല് നമുക്കു അറിയാം.

5. But whoever obeys His Word has the love of God made perfect in him. This is the way to know if you belong to Christ.

6. അവനില് വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നവന് അവന് നടന്നതുപോലെ നടക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

6. The one who says he belongs to Christ should live the same kind of life Christ lived.

7. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, പുതിയോരു കല്പനയല്ല ആദിമുതല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ള പഴയ കല്പനയത്രേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു. ആ പഴയ കല്പന നിങ്ങള് കേട്ട വചനം തന്നേ.

7. Dear friends, I am not writing a new Law for you to obey. It is an old Law you have had from the beginning. The old Law is the Word that you have heard.

8. പുതിയോരു കല്പന ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു എന്നും പറയാം. അതു അവനിലും നിങ്ങളിലും സത്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടു നീങ്ങിപോകുന്നു; സത്യവെളിച്ചം ഇതാ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു.

8. And yet it is a new Law that I am writing to you. It is truth. It was seen in Christ and it is seen in you also. The darkness is passing away and the true Light shines instead.

9. വെളിച്ചത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഇന്നെയോളം ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

9. Whoever says he is in the light but hates his brother is still in darkness.

10. സഹോദരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവന് വെളിച്ചത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ഇടര്ച്ചെക്കു അവനില് കാരണമില്ല.

10. But whoever loves his brother is in the light. And there will be no reason to sin because of him.

11. സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കുന്നവനോ ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടില് നടക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇരുട്ടു അവന്റെ കണ്ണു കുരുടാക്കുകയാല് എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് അറിയുന്നില്ല.

11. Whoever hates his brother is not in the light but lives in darkness. He does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

12. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അവന്റെ നാമം നിമിത്തം പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു.

12. I am writing to you, my children, for your sins have been forgiven because of Christ's name.

13. പിതാക്കന്മാരേ, ആദിമുതലുള്ളവനെ നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടനെ ജയിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് പിതാവിനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him Who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have power over the devil. I have written to you, young boys and girls, because you have learned to know the Father.

14. പിതാക്കന്മാരേ, ആദിമുതലുള്ളവനെ നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങള് ശക്തരാകയാലും ദൈവവചനം നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കയാലും നിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടനെ ജയിച്ചിരിക്കയാലും ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him Who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong. You have kept God's Word in your hearts. You have power over the devil.

15. ലോകത്തെയും ലോകത്തിലുള്ളതിനെയും സ്നേഹിക്കരുതു. ഒരുവന് ലോകത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവനില് പിതാവിന്റെ സ്നേഹം ഇല്ല.

15. Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love is not in him.

16. ജഡമോഹം, കണ്മോഹം, ജീവനത്തിന്റെ പ്രതാപം ഇങ്ങനെ ലോകത്തിലുള്ളതു എല്ലാം പിതാവില്നിന്നല്ല, ലോകത്തില്നിന്നത്രേ ആകുന്നു.

16. For everything that is in the world does not come from the Father. The desires of our flesh and the things our eyes see and want and the pride of this life come from the world.

17. ലോകവും അതിന്റെ മോഹവും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു; ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ എന്നേക്കും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

17. The world and all its desires will pass away. But the man who obeys God and does what He wants done will live forever.

18. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, ഇതു അന്ത്യനാഴിക ആകുന്നു; എതിര്ക്രിസ്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ. ഇപ്പോള് അനേകം എതിര്ക്രിസ്തുക്കള് എഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കയാല് അന്ത്യനാഴിക ആകുന്നു എന്നു നമുക്കു അറിയാം.

18. My children, we are near the end of the world. You have heard that the false-christ is coming. Many falsechrists have already come. This is how we know the end of the world is near.

19. അവര് നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലും നമുക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നില്ല; അവര് നമുക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കില് നമ്മോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംമായിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് എല്ലാവരും നമുക്കുള്ളവരല്ല എന്നു പ്രസിദ്ധമാകേണ്ടതല്ലോ.

19. These left us. But they never belonged to us. If they had been a part of us, they would have stayed with us. Because they left, it is known they did not belong to us.

20. നിങ്ങളോ പരിശുദ്ധനാല് അഭിഷേകം പ്രാപിച്ചു സകലവും അറിയുന്നു.

20. The Holy Spirit has been given to you and you all know the truth.

21. നിങ്ങള് സത്യം അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടല്ല, നിങ്ങള് അതു അറികയാലും ഭോഷകു ഒന്നും സത്യത്തില്നിന്നു വരായ്കയാലുമത്രേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു.

21. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth. I have written because you do know the truth and you know that no lie comes from the truth.

22. യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തുവല്ല എന്നു നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന് അല്ലാതെ കള്ളന് ആര് ആകുന്നു? പിതാവിനെയും പുത്രനെയും നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന് തന്നേ എതിര്ക്രിസ്തു ആകുന്നു.

22. Who is a liar? He is a person who says that Jesus is not the Christ. The false-christ will have nothing to do with the Father and the Son and he will turn away from Them.

23. പുത്രനെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന്നു പിതാവുമില്ല; പുത്രനെ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവനു പിതാവും ഉണ്ടു.

23. A person who will have nothing to do with the Son and turns against Him does not have the Father. The one who says he knows the Son has the Father also.

24. നിങ്ങള് ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കട്ടെ. ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള് പുത്രനിലും പിതാവിലും വസിക്കും.

24. Keep in your heart what you have heard from the beginning. Then you will belong to the Son and to the Father if what you have heard from the beginning is in you.

25. ഇതാകുന്നു അവന് നമുക്കു തന്ന വാഗ്ദത്തംനിത്യജീവന് തന്നേ.

25. And He has promised us life that lasts forever!

26. നിങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിക്കുന്നവരെ ഔര്ത്തു ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. I have written to you about those who are trying to lead you in the wrong way.

27. അവനാല് പ്രാപിച്ച അഭിഷേകം നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ആരും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല; അവന്റെ അഭിഷേകം തന്നേ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സകലവും ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയാലും അതു ഭോഷ്കല്ല സത്യം തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കയാലും അതു നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള് അവനില് വസിപ്പിന് .

27. Christ gave you the Holy Spirit and He lives in you. You do not need anyone to teach you. The Holy Spirit is able to teach you all things. What He teaches you is truth and not a lie. Live by the help of Christ as the Holy Spirit has taught you.

28. ഇനിയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, അവന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകുമ്പോള് നാം അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകാതെ അവന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് നമുക്കു ധൈര്യ്യം ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനില് വസിപ്പിന് .

28. And now, my children, live by the help of Him. Then when He comes again, we will be glad to see Him and not be ashamed.

29. അവന് നീതിമാന് എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നീതി ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഒക്കെയും അവനില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു.

29. You know that Christ is right with God. Then you should know that everyone who is right with God is a child of His.
