1. എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. ഒരുത്തന് പാപം ചെയ്തു എങ്കിലോ, നീതിമാനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തു എന്ന കാര്യ്യസ്ഥന് നമുക്കു പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഉണ്ടു.

1. My lytell children these thynges write I vnto you that ye synne not: yf eny man synne yet we have an advocate with ye father Iesus Christ which is righteous:

2. അവന് നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ആകുന്നു; നമ്മുടേതിന്നു മാത്രം അല്ല, സര്വ്വലോകത്തിന്റെ പാപത്തിന്നും തന്നേ.

2. and he it is that obteyneth grace for oure synnes: not for oure synnes only: but also for the synnes of all the worlde.

3. അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നാം അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അതിനാല് അറിയുന്നു.

3. And herby we are sure that we knowe him yf we kepe his comaundementes.

4. അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് കള്ളന് ആകുന്നു; സത്യം അവനില് ഇല്ല.

4. He that sayth I knowe him and kepeth not his commaundementes is a lyar and the veritie is not in him.

5. എന്നാല് ആരെങ്കിലും അവന്റെ വചനം പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അവനില് ദൈവസ്നേഹം വാസ്തവമായി തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. നാം അവനില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഇതിനാല് നമുക്കു അറിയാം.

5. Whosoever kepeth his (worde) in him is the love of god parfect in dede. And therby knowe we that we are in him.

6. അവനില് വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നവന് അവന് നടന്നതുപോലെ നടക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

6. He that sayth he bydeth in him ought to walke even as he walked.

7. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, പുതിയോരു കല്പനയല്ല ആദിമുതല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ള പഴയ കല്പനയത്രേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു. ആ പഴയ കല്പന നിങ്ങള് കേട്ട വചനം തന്നേ.

7. Brethren I write no newe comaundement vnto you: but that olde comaundemet which ye hearde from the begynnynge.

8. പുതിയോരു കല്പന ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു എന്നും പറയാം. അതു അവനിലും നിങ്ങളിലും സത്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടു നീങ്ങിപോകുന്നു; സത്യവെളിച്ചം ഇതാ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു.

8. The olde comaundement is the worde which ye hearde from the begynnynge. Agayne a newe comaundement I write vnto you a thynge that is true in him and also in you: for the darknes is past and the true lyght now shyneth.

9. വെളിച്ചത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഇന്നെയോളം ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

9. He that sayth how that he is in the light and yet hateth his brother is in darknes even vntyll this tyme.

10. സഹോദരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവന് വെളിച്ചത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ഇടര്ച്ചെക്കു അവനില് കാരണമില്ല.

10. He that loveth his brother abydeth in the light and ther is none occasion of evyll in him.

11. സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കുന്നവനോ ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടില് നടക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇരുട്ടു അവന്റെ കണ്ണു കുരുടാക്കുകയാല് എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് അറിയുന്നില്ല.

11. He that hateth his brother is in darknes and walketh in darknes: and cannot tell whither he goeth because that darknes hath blynded his eyes.

12. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അവന്റെ നാമം നിമിത്തം പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു.

12. Babes I write vnto you how that youre synnes are forgeven you for his names sake.

13. പിതാക്കന്മാരേ, ആദിമുതലുള്ളവനെ നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടനെ ജയിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് പിതാവിനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. I wryte vnto you fathers how that ye have knowen him that was from the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you yonge men how that ye have overcome the wicked. I wryte vnto you lytell children how that ye have knowne the father.

14. പിതാക്കന്മാരേ, ആദിമുതലുള്ളവനെ നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങള് ശക്തരാകയാലും ദൈവവചനം നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കയാലും നിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടനെ ജയിച്ചിരിക്കയാലും ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. I wryte vnto you fathers how that ye have knowe him that was fro the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you youge men how that ye are stronge: and the worde of God abydeth in you and ye have overcome that wicked.

15. ലോകത്തെയും ലോകത്തിലുള്ളതിനെയും സ്നേഹിക്കരുതു. ഒരുവന് ലോകത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവനില് പിതാവിന്റെ സ്നേഹം ഇല്ല.

15. Se that ye love not the worlde nether the thynges that are in the worlde. Yf eny man love the worlde the love of the father is not in him.

16. ജഡമോഹം, കണ്മോഹം, ജീവനത്തിന്റെ പ്രതാപം ഇങ്ങനെ ലോകത്തിലുള്ളതു എല്ലാം പിതാവില്നിന്നല്ല, ലോകത്തില്നിന്നത്രേ ആകുന്നു.

16. For all that is in ye worlde (as the lust of the flesshe the lust of the eyes and ye pryde of gooddes) is not of the father: but of ye worlde

17. ലോകവും അതിന്റെ മോഹവും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു; ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ എന്നേക്കും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

17. And the worlde vannyssheth awaye and the lust therof: but he that fulfilleth the will of god abydeth ever.

18. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, ഇതു അന്ത്യനാഴിക ആകുന്നു; എതിര്ക്രിസ്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ. ഇപ്പോള് അനേകം എതിര്ക്രിസ്തുക്കള് എഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കയാല് അന്ത്യനാഴിക ആകുന്നു എന്നു നമുക്കു അറിയാം.

18. Lytell children it is the last tyme and as ye have herde how that Antichrist shall come: even now are there many Antichristes come allredy. Wherby we knowe that it is the last tyme.

19. അവര് നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലും നമുക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നില്ല; അവര് നമുക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കില് നമ്മോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംമായിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് എല്ലാവരും നമുക്കുള്ളവരല്ല എന്നു പ്രസിദ്ധമാകേണ്ടതല്ലോ.

19. They went oute from vs but they were not of vs. For yf they had bene of vs they wolde no dout have continued with vs. But that fortuned that yt myght appere that they were not of vs.

20. നിങ്ങളോ പരിശുദ്ധനാല് അഭിഷേകം പ്രാപിച്ചു സകലവും അറിയുന്നു.

20. And ye have an oyntment of ye holy gost and ye knowe all thynges.

21. നിങ്ങള് സത്യം അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടല്ല, നിങ്ങള് അതു അറികയാലും ഭോഷകു ഒന്നും സത്യത്തില്നിന്നു വരായ്കയാലുമത്രേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു.

21. I wrote not vnto you as though ye knewe not the trueth: but as though ye knewe it and knowe also that no lye commeth of trueth.

22. യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തുവല്ല എന്നു നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന് അല്ലാതെ കള്ളന് ആര് ആകുന്നു? പിതാവിനെയും പുത്രനെയും നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന് തന്നേ എതിര്ക്രിസ്തു ആകുന്നു.

22. Who is a lyar: but he that denyeth that Iesus is Christ? The same is the Antichrist that denyeth the father and the sonne.

23. പുത്രനെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന്നു പിതാവുമില്ല; പുത്രനെ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവനു പിതാവും ഉണ്ടു.

23. Whosoever denyeth the sonne the same hath not the father.

24. നിങ്ങള് ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കട്ടെ. ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള് പുത്രനിലും പിതാവിലും വസിക്കും.

24. Let therfore abyde in you that same which ye hearde from the begynnynge. Yf that which ye hearde from ye begynnynge shall remayne in you ye also shall continewe in the sonne and in the father

25. ഇതാകുന്നു അവന് നമുക്കു തന്ന വാഗ്ദത്തംനിത്യജീവന് തന്നേ.

25. And this is the promes yt he hath promysed vs even eternall lyfe.

26. നിങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിക്കുന്നവരെ ഔര്ത്തു ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. This have I writte vnto you concernynge the yt disceave you.

27. അവനാല് പ്രാപിച്ച അഭിഷേകം നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ആരും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല; അവന്റെ അഭിഷേകം തന്നേ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സകലവും ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയാലും അതു ഭോഷ്കല്ല സത്യം തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കയാലും അതു നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള് അവനില് വസിപ്പിന് .

27. And ye anoyntynge which ye have receaved of him dwelleth in you. And ye nede not that eny man teache you: but as ye annoyntynge teaheth you all thynges and is true and is no lye: and as it taught you even so byde therin.

28. ഇനിയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, അവന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകുമ്പോള് നാം അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകാതെ അവന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് നമുക്കു ധൈര്യ്യം ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനില് വസിപ്പിന് .

28. And nowe babes abyde in him that when he shall appere we maye be bolde and not be made a shamed of him at his commynge.

29. അവന് നീതിമാന് എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നീതി ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഒക്കെയും അവനില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു.

29. Yf ye knowe that he is righteous knowe also that he which foloweth rightewesnes is borne of him.
