1. നമ്മില് വസിക്കുന്നതും നമ്മോടുകൂടെ എന്നേക്കും ഇരിക്കുന്നതുമായ സത്യംനിമിത്തം ഞാന് മാത്രമല്ല,

1. The eldere man, to the chosun ladi, and to her children, whiche Y loue in treuthe; and not Y aloone, but also alle men that knowen treuthe;

2. സത്യത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നവര് എല്ലാവരും സത്യത്തില് സ്നേഹിക്കുന്ന മാന്യനായകിയാര്ക്കും മക്കള്ക്കും മൂപ്പനായ ഞാന് എഴുതുന്നതു

2. for the treuthe that dwellith in you, and with you schal be with outen ende.

3. പിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിങ്കല്നിന്നും പിതാവിന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിങ്കല്നിന്നും സ്നേഹത്തിലും സത്യത്തിലും കൃപയും കനിവും സമാധാനവും നമ്മോടു കൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

3. Grace be with you, merci, and pees of God the fadir, and of Jhesu Crist, the sone of the fadir, in treuthe and charite.

4. നമുക്കു പിതാവിങ്കല്നിന്നു കല്പന ലഭിച്ചതുപോലെ അവിടത്തെ മക്കളില് ചിലര് സത്യത്തില് നടക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കണ്ടു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

5. ഇനി നായകിയാരേ, നാം അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കേണം എന്നു പുതിയ കല്പനയായിട്ടല്ല, ആദിമുതല് നമുക്കു ഉള്ളതായിട്ടു തന്നേ ഞാന് അവിടത്തേക്കു എഴുതി അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

5. And now Y preye thee, ladi, not as writinge a newe maundement to thee, but that that we hadden fro the bigynnyng, that we loue ech other.

6. നാം അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ സ്നേഹം ആകുന്നു. നിങ്ങള് ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതുപോലെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടപ്പാനുള്ള കല്പന ഇതത്രേ.

6. And this is charite, that we walke after his maundementis. For this is the comaundement, that as ye herden at the bigynnyng, walke ye in hym.

7. യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ ജഡത്തില് വന്നവന് എന്നു സ്വീകരിക്കാത്ത വഞ്ചകന്മാര് പലരും ലോകത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ. വഞ്ചകനും എതിര്ക്രിസ്തുവും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവന് ആകുന്നു.

7. For many disseyueris wenten out in to the world, which knoulechen not that Jhesu Crist hath come in fleisch; this is a disseyuere and antecrist.

8. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രയത്നഫലം കളയാതെ പൂര്ണ്ണപ്രതിഫലം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

8. Se ye you silf, lest ye lesen the thingis that ye han wrouyt, that ye resseyue ful mede;

9. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ഉപദേശത്തില് നിലനില്ക്കാതെ അതിര് കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഒരുത്തന്നും ദൈവം ഇല്ല; ഉപദേശത്തില് നിലനിലക്കുന്നവന്നോ പിതാവും പുത്രനും ഉണ്ടു.

9. witynge that ech man that goith bifore, and dwellith not in the teching of Crist, hath not God. He that dwellith in the teching, hath bothe the sone and the fadir.

10. ഒരുത്തന് ഈ ഉപദേശവുംകൊണ്ടു അല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുവെങ്കില് അവനെ വീട്ടില് കൈക്കൊള്ളരുതു; അവന്നു കുശലം പറകയും അരുതു.

10. If ony man cometh to you, and bryngith not this teching, nyle ye resseyue hym in to hous, nether seie ye to hym, Heil.

11. അവന്നു കുശലം പറയുന്നവന് അവന്റെ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികള്ക്കു കൂട്ടാളിയല്ലോ.

11. For he that seith to hym, Heil, comyneth with hise yuel werkis. Lo! Y biforseide to you, that ye be not confoundid in the dai of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.

12. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുവാന് പലതും ഉണ്ടുഎങ്കിലും കടലാസ്സിലും മഷികൊണ്ടും എഴുതുവാന് എനിക്കു മനസ്സില്ല. നിങ്ങളുടെ സന്തോഷം പൂര്ണ്ണമാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു മുഖാമുഖമായി സംസാരിപ്പാന് ആശിക്കുന്നു.

12. Y haue mo thingis to write to you, and Y wolde not bi parchemyn and enke; for Y hope that Y schal come to you, and speke mouth to mouth, that your ioye be ful.

13. അവിടത്തെ മാന്യസഹോദരിയുടെ മക്കള് വന്ദനം ചൊല്ലുന്നു.
