1. അനന്തരം ശിംശോന് തിമ്നയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു തിമ്നയില് ഒരു ഫെലിസ്ത്യകന്യകയെ കണ്ടു.

1. Samson went down to the city of Timnah where he saw a Philistine woman.

2. അവന് വന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും അറിയിച്ചുഞാന് തിമ്നയില് ഒരു ഫെലിസ്ത്യകന്യകയെ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളെ എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു എടുക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. When he returned home, he said to his father and mother, 'I saw a Philistine woman in Timnah. I want you to get her for me so I can marry her.'

3. His father and mother answered, 'Surely there is a woman from Israel you can marry. Do you have to marry a woman from the Philistines, who are not circumcised?' But Samson said, 'Get that woman for me! She is the one I want!'

4. ഇതു യഹോവയാല് ഉണ്ടായതു എന്നു അവന്റെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; അവന് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നേരെ അവസരം അന്വേഷിക്കയായിരുന്നു. ആ കാലത്തു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരായിരുന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനെ വാണിരുന്നതു.

4. (Samson's parents did not know that the Lord wanted this to happen because he was looking for a way to challenge the Philistines, who were ruling over Israel at this time.)

5. അങ്ങനെ ശിംശോനും അവന്റെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും തിമ്നയിലേക്കു പോയി തിമ്നെക്കരികെയുള്ള മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഒരു ബാലസിംഹം അവന്റെ നേരെ അലറിവന്നു.

5. Samson went down with his father and mother to Timnah, as far as the vineyard near there. Suddenly, a young lion came roaring toward Samson!

6. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെമേല് വന്നു; കയ്യില് ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കെ അവന് അതിനെ ഒരു ആട്ടിന് കുട്ടിയെപ്പോലെ കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു; താന് ചെയ്തതു അപ്പനോടും അമ്മയോടും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. The Spirit of the Lord entered Samson with great power, and he tore the lion apart with his bare hands. For him it was as easy as tearing apart a young goat. But Samson did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

7. Then he went down to the city and talked to the Philistine woman, and he liked her.

8. കുറെക്കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഹം അവന് അവളെ വിവാഹം കഴിപ്പാന് തിരികെ പോകയില് സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടല് നോക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മാറിച്ചെന്നു; സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടലിന്നകത്തു ഒരു തേനീച്ചക്കൂട്ടവും തേനും കണ്ടു.

8. Several days later Samson went back to marry her. On his way he went over to look at the body of the dead lion and found a swarm of bees and honey in it.

9. അതു അവന് കയ്യില് എടുത്തു തിന്നുംകൊണ്ടു നടന്നു, അപ്പന്റെയും അമ്മയുടെയും അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു അവരും തിന്നു; എന്നാല് തേന് ഒരു സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടലില്നിന്നു എടുത്തു എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

9. Samson got some of the honey with his hands and walked along eating it. When he came to his parents, he gave some to them. They ate it, too, but Samson did not tell them he had taken the honey from the body of the dead lion.

10. Samson's father went down to see the Philistine woman. And Samson gave a feast, as was the custom for the bridegroom.

11. അവര് അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരിപ്പാന് മുപ്പതു തോഴന്മാരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

11. When the people saw him, they sent thirty friends to be with him.

12. ശിംശോന് അവരോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു ഒരു കടം പറയാം; വിരുന്നിന്റെ ഏഴു ദിവസത്തിന്നകം നിങ്ങള് അതു വീട്ടിയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മുപ്പതു ഉള്ളങ്കിയും മുപ്പതു വിശേഷവസ്ത്രവും തരാം.

12. Samson said to them, 'Let me tell you a riddle. Try to find the answer during the seven days of the feast. If you can, I will give you thirty linen shirts and thirty changes of clothes.

13. വീട്ടുവാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലെങ്കിലോ നിങ്ങള് എനിക്കു മുപ്പതു ഉള്ളങ്കിയും മുപ്പതു വിശേഷവസ്ത്രവും തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അവനോടുനിന്റെ കടം പറക; ഞങ്ങള് കേള്ക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. But if you can't, you must give me thirty linen shirts and thirty changes of clothes.' So they said, 'Tell us your riddle so we can hear it.'

14. അവന് അവരോടു ഭോക്താവില്നിന്നു ഭോജനവും മല്ലനില്നിന്നു മധുരവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് കടം വീട്ടുവാന് മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തോളം അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

14. Samson said, 'Out of the eater comes something to eat. Out of the strong comes something sweet.' After three days, they had not found the answer.

15. ഏഴാം ദിവസത്തിലോ അവര് ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നിന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവിനെ വശീകരിക്ക; അല്ലെങ്കില് ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെയും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തെയും തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും; ഞങ്ങളുടെ വസ്തു കരസ്ഥമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നോ നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. On the fourthn day they said to Samson's wife, 'Did you invite us here to make us poor? Trick your husband into telling us the answer to the riddle. If you don't, we will burn you and everyone in your father's house.'

16. ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് കരഞ്ഞുനീ എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നില്ല, എന്നെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ അസ്മാദികളോടു ഒരു കടം പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു എനിക്കു അതു പറഞ്ഞുതന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവളോടുഎന്റെ അപ്പന്നും അമ്മെക്കും ഞാന് അതു പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തിട്ടില്ല; പിന്നെ നിനക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. So Samson's wife went to him, crying, and said, 'You hate me! You don't really love me! You told my people a riddle, but you won't tell me the answer.' Samson said, 'I haven't even told my father or mother. Why should I tell you?'

17. വിരുന്നിന്റെ ഏഴു ദിവസവും അവള് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; ഏഴാം ദിവസം അവള് അവനെ അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്തുകകൊണ്ടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു; അവള് തന്റെ അസ്മാദികള്ക്കും കടം പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു.

17. Samson's wife cried for the rest of the seven days of the feast. So he finally gave her the answer on the seventh day, because she kept bothering him. Then she told her people the answer to the riddle.

18. ഏഴാം ദിവസം സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുംമുമ്പെ പട്ടണക്കാര് അവനോടുതേനിനെക്കാള് മധുരമുള്ളതു എന്തു? സിംഹത്തെക്കാള് ബലമുള്ളതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് എന്റെ പശുക്കിടാവിനെ പൂട്ടി ഉഴുതില്ലെങ്കില് എന്റെ കടം വീട്ടുകയില്ലായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Before sunset on the seventh day of the feast, the Philistine men had the answer. They came to Samson and said, 'What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?' Then Samson said to them, 'If you had not plowed with my young cow, you would not have solved my riddle!'

19. പിന്നെ, യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെ മേല് വന്നു; അവന് അസ്കലോനിലേക്കു ചെന്നു മുപ്പതുപേരെ കൊന്നു അവരുടെ ഉടുപ്പൂരി കടംവീട്ടിയവര്ക്കും വസ്ത്രംകൊടുത്തു അവന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വീട്ടില് പോയി.

19. Then the Spirit of the Lord entered Samson and gave him great power. Samson went down to the city of Ashkelon and killed thirty of its men and took all that they had and gave the clothes to the men who had answered his riddle. Then he went to his father's house very angry.

20. ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനായിരുന്ന തോഴന്നു ഭാര്യയായിയ്തീര്ന്നു.

20. And Samson's wife was given to his best man.
