1. താന് യാക്കോബിന്നു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു റാഹേല് കണ്ടു തന്റെ സഹോദരിയോടു അസൂയപ്പെട്ടു യാക്കോബിനോടുഎനിക്കു മക്കളെ തരേണം; അല്ലെങ്കില് ഞാന് മരിച്ചുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. And when Rahel saw that she bare Iaakob no children, Rahel enuied her sister, and said vnto Iaakob, Giue me children, or els I dye.

2. അപ്പോള് യാക്കോബിന്നു റാഹേലിനോടു കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചുനിനക്കു ഗര്ഭഫലം തരാതിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തോ ഞാന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Then Iaakobs anger was kindled against Rahel, and he sayde, Am I in Gods steade, which hath withholden from thee the fruite of the wombe?

3. അതിന്നു അവള് എന്റെ ദാസി ബില്ഹാ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുക; അവള് എന്റെ മടിയില് പ്രസവിക്കട്ടെ; അവളാല് എനിക്കും മക്കള് ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And she said, Behold my maide Bilhah, goe in to her, and she shall beare vpon my knees, and I shall haue children also by her.

4. അങ്ങനെ അവള് തന്റെ ദാസി ബില്ഹയെ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു; യാക്കോബ് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

4. Then shee gaue him Bilhah her mayde to wife, and Iaakob went in to her.

5. ബില്ഹാ ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കേബിന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

5. So Bilhah conceiued and bare Iaakob a sonne.

6. അപ്പോള് റാഹേല്ദൈവം എനിക്കു ന്യായം നടത്തി എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു എനിക്കു ഒരു മകനെ തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതു കൊണ്ടു അവന്നു ദാന് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

6. Then said Rahel, God hath giuen sentence on my side, and hath also heard my voyce, and hath giuen mee a sonne: therefore called shee his name, Dan.

7. റാഹേലിന്റെ ദാസി ബില്ഹാ പിന്നെയും ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കോബിന്നു രണ്ടാമതൊരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

7. And Bilhah Rahels maide coceiued againe, and bare Iaakob the second sonne.

8. ഞാന് എന്റെ സഹോദരിയോടു വലിയോരു പോര് പൊരുതു ജയിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു റാഹേല് പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു നഫ്താലി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

8. Then Rahel said, with excellent wrestlings haue I wrestled with my sister, and haue gotten the vpper hande: and shee called his name, Naphtali.

9. തനിക്കു പ്രസവം നിന്നുപോയി എന്നു ലേയാ കണ്ടാറെ തന്റെ ദാസി സില്പയെ വിളിച്ചു അവളെ യാക്കോബിന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

9. And when Leah saw that she had left bearing, shee tooke Zilpah her mayde, and gaue her Iaakob to wife.

10. ലേയയുടെ ദാസി സില്പാ യാക്കോബിന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

10. And Zilpah Leahs mayde bare Iaakob a sonne.

11. അപ്പോള് ലേയാഭാഗ്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ഗാദ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

11. Then sayd Leah, A companie commeth: and she called his name, Gad.

12. ലേയയുടെ ദാസി സില്പാ യാക്കോബിന്നു രണ്ടാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

12. Againe Zilpah Leahs mayde bare Iaakob another sonne.

13. ഞാന് ഭാഗ്യവതി; സ്ത്രികള് എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതിയെന്നു പറയും എന്നു ലേയാ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ആശേര് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

13. Then sayde Leah, Ah, blessed am I, for the daughters will blesse me. and she called his name, Asher.

14. കോതമ്പുകൊയിത്തുകാലത്തു രൂബേന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു വയലില് ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കണ്ടു തന്റെ അമ്മയായ ലേയയുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. റാഹേല് ലേയയോടുനിന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കുറെ എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Nowe Reuben went in the dayes of the wheateharuest, and founde mandrakes in the fielde and brought them vnto his mother Leah. Then sayde Rahel to Leah, Giue me, I pray thee, of thy sonnes mandrakes.

15. അവള് അവളോടുനീ എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവിനെ എടുത്തതു പോരയോ? എന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴവും കൂടെ വേണമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു റാഹേല്ആകട്ടെ; നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഇന്നു രാത്രി അവന് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. But shee answered her, Is it a small matter for thee to take mine husband, except thou take my sonnes mandrakes also? Then sayde Rahel, Therefore he shall sleepe with thee this night for thy sonnes mandrakes.

16. യാക്കോബ് വൈകുന്നേരം വയലില്നിന്നു വരുമ്പോള് ലേയാ അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നുനീ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരേണം; എന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിന്നെ കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അന്നു രാത്രി അവന് അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു.

16. And Iaakob came from the fielde in the euening, and Leah went out to meete him, and sayde, Come in to mee, for I haue bought and payed for thee with my sonnes mandrakes: and he slept with her that night.

17. ദൈവം ലേയയുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു; അവള് ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കോബിന്നു അഞ്ചാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

17. And God heard Leah and shee conceiued, and bare vnto Iaakob the fift sonne.

18. അപ്പോള് ലേയാഞാന് എന്റെ ദാസിയെ എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവിന്നു കൊടുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവം എനിക്കു കൂലി തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു യിസ്സാഖാര് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

18. Then said Leah, God hath giuen me my reward, because I gaue my mayde to my husband, and she called his name Issachar.

19. ലേയാ പിന്നെയും ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു, യാക്കോബിന്നു ആറാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു;

19. After, Leah conceiued againe, and bare Iaakob the sixt sonne.

20. ദൈവം എനിക്കു ഒരു നല്ലദാനം തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവു എന്നോടുകൂടെ വസിക്കും; ഞാന് അവന്നു ആറു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു ലേയാ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു സെബൂലൂന് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

20. Then Leah said, God hath endued me with a good dowrie: nowe will mine husband dwell with me, because I haue borne him sixe sonnes: and she called his name Zebulun.

21. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവള് ഒരു മകളെ പ്രസവിച്ചു അവള്ക്കു ദീനാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

21. After that, shee bare a daughter, and shee called her name Dinah.

22. ദൈവം റാഹേലിനെ ഔര്ത്തു; ദൈവം അവളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു അവളുടെ ഗര്ഭത്തെ തുറന്നു.

22. And God remembred Rahel, and God heard her, and opened her wombe.

23. അവള് ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; ദൈവം എന്റെ നിന്ദ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. So she conceiued and bare a sonne, and said, God hath taken away my rebuke.

24. യഹോവ എനിക്കു ഇനിയും ഒരു മകനെ തരുമെന്നും പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു യോസേഫ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

24. And shee called his name Ioseph, saying, The Lord wil giue me yet another sonne.

25. റാഹേല് യോസേഫിനെ പ്രസവിച്ചശേഷം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോടുഞാന് എന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കും ദേശത്തേക്കും പോകുവാന് എന്നെ അയക്കേണം.

25. And assoone as Rahel had borne Ioseph, Iaakob said to Laban, Sende me away that I may go vnto my place and to my countrey.

26. ഞാന് നിന്നെ സേവിച്ചതിന്റെ പ്രതിഫലമായ എന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരേയും മക്കളെയും എനിക്കു തരേണം; ഞാന് പോകട്ടെ; ഞാന് നിന്നെ സേവിച്ച സേവ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Giue me my wiues and my children, for whom I haue serued thee, and let me go: for thou knowest what seruice I haue done thee.

27. ലാബാന് അവനോടുനിനക്കു എന്നോടു ദയ ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് പോകരുതേ; നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം യഹോവ എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു എന്നു എനിക്കു ബോദ്ധ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. To whom Laban answered, If I haue nowe found fauour in thy sight tarie: I haue perceiued that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake.

28. നിനക്കു എന്തു പ്രതിഫലം വേണം എന്നു പറക; ഞാന് തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Also he said, Appoynt vnto me thy wages, and I will giue it thee.

29. അവന് അവനോടുഞാന് നിന്നെ എങ്ങനെ സേവിച്ചു എന്നും നിന്റെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടം എന്റെ പക്കല് എങ്ങനെ ഇരുന്നു എന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നു.

29. But he sayd vnto him, Thou knowest, what seruice I haue done thee, and in what taking thy cattell hath bene vnder me.

30. ഞാന് വരുംമുമ്പെ നിനക്കു അല്പമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളു; ഇപ്പോള് അതു അത്യന്തം വര്ദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് കാല് വെച്ചേടത്തൊക്കെയും യഹോവ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇനി എന്റെ സ്വന്തഭവനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാന് എപ്പോള് കരുതും എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.

30. For the litle, that thou haddest before I came, is increased into a multitude: and the Lord hath blessed thee by my comming: but nowe when shall I trauell for mine owne house also?

31. ഞാന് നിനക്കു എന്തു തരേണം എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു യാക്കോബ് പറഞ്ഞതുനീ ഒന്നും തരേണ്ടാ; ഈ കാര്യം നീ ചെയ്തുതന്നാല് ഞാന് നിന്റെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെ ഇനിയും മേയിച്ചു പാലിക്കാം.

31. Then he saide, What shall I giue thee? And Iaakob answered, Thou shalt giue mee nothing at all: if thou wilt doe this thing for mee, I will returne, feede, and keepe thy sheepe.

32. ഞാന് ഇന്നു നിന്റെ എല്ലാ കൂട്ടങ്ങളിലും കൂടി കടന്നു, അവയില്നിന്നു പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള ആടുകളെ ഒക്കെയും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളില് കറുത്തതിനെയൊക്കെയും കോലാടുകളില് പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ളതിനെയും വേര്തിരിക്കാം; അതു എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

32. I wil passe through all thy flockes this day, and separate from them all the sheepe with litle spots and great spots, and al blacke lambes among the sheepe, and the great spotted, and litle spotted among the goates: and it shalbe my wages.

33. നാളെ ഒരിക്കല് എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം സംബന്ധിച്ചു നീ നോക്കുവാന് വരുമ്പോള് എന്റെ നീതി തെളിവായിരിക്കും; കോലാടുകളില് പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമില്ലാത്തതും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളില് കറുത്തനിറമില്ലാത്തതും എല്ലാം മോഷ്ടിച്ചതായി എണ്ണാം.

33. So shall my righteousnesse answere for me hereafter, when it shall come for my rewarde before thy face, and euery one that hath not litle or great spots among the goates, and blacke among the sheepe, the same shalbe theft with me.

34. അതിന്നു ലാബാന് നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. Then Laban sayde, Goe to, woulde God it might be according to thy saying.

35. അന്നു തന്നേ അവന് വരയും മറുവുമുള്ള മുട്ടാടുകളെയും പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള പെണ്കോലാടുകളെ ഒക്കെയും വെണ്മയുള്ളതിനെ ഒക്കെയും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളില് കറുത്തനിറമുള്ളതിനെ ഒക്കെയും വേര്തിരിച്ചു അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

35. Therefore he tooke out the same day the hee goates that were partie coloured and with great spots, and all the shee goates with litle and great spots, and all that had white in them, and all the blacke among the sheepe, and put them in the keeping of his sonnes.

36. അവന് തനിക്കും യാക്കോബിന്നും ഇടയില് മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തെ വഴിയകലം വെച്ചു; ലാബാന്റെ ശേഷമുള്ള ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ യാക്കോബ് മേയിച്ചു.

36. And hee set three dayes iourney betweene himselfe and Iaakob. And Iaakob kept the rest of Labans sheepe.

37. എന്നാല് യാക്കോബ് പുന്നവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും ബദാംവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും അരിഞ്ഞില്വൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും പച്ചക്കൊമ്പുകളെ എടുത്തു അവയില് വെള്ള കാണത്തക്കവണ്ണം വെള്ളവരയായി തോലുരിച്ചു.

37. Then Iaakob tooke rods of greene popular, and of hasell, and of the chesnut tree, and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appeare in the rods.

38. ആടുകള് കുടിപ്പാന് വന്നപ്പോള് അവന് , താന് തോലുരിച്ച കൊമ്പുകളെ പാത്തികളിലും വെള്ളം പകരുന്ന തൊട്ടികളിലും ആടുകളുടെ മുമ്പില് വെച്ചു; അവ വെള്ളം കുടിപ്പാന് വന്നപ്പോള് ചനയേറ്റു.

38. Then he put the rods, which he had pilled, in the gutters and watering troughes, when the sheepe came to drink, before the sheepe. (for they were in heate, when they came to drinke)

39. ആടുകള് കൊമ്പുകളെ കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടു ചനയേറ്റു വരയും പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള കുട്ടികളെ പെറ്റു.

39. And the sheepe were in heate before the rods, and afterward brought forth yong of partie colour, and with small and great spots.

40. ആ ആട്ടിന് കുട്ടികളെ യാക്കോബ് വേര്തിരിച്ചു ആടുകളെ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളില് വരയും മറുവുമുള്ള എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും അഭിമുഖമായി നിര്ത്തി; തന്റെ സ്വന്തകൂട്ടങ്ങളെ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളോടു ചേര്ക്കാതെ വേറെയാക്കി.

40. And Iaakob parted these lambes, and turned the faces of the flocke towardes these lambes partie coloured and all maner of blacke, among the sheepe of Laban: so hee put his owne flockes by themselues, and put them not with Labans flocke.

41. ബലമുള്ള ആടുകള് ചനയേലക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെയും കൊമ്പുകളെ കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടു ചനയേല്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യാക്കോബ് ആ കൊമ്പുകളെ പാത്തികളില് ആടുകളുടെ കണ്ണിന്നു മുമ്പില് വെച്ചു.

41. And in euery ramming time of the stronger sheepe, Iaakob layde the rods before the eyes of the sheepe in the gutters, that they might conceiue before the rods.

42. ബലമില്ലാത്ത ആടുകള് ചനയേലക്കുമ്പോള് അവയെ വെച്ചില്ല; അങ്ങനെ ബലമില്ലാത്തവ ലാബാന്നും ബലമുള്ളവ യാക്കോബിന്നും ആയിത്തീര്ന്നു.

42. But when the sheepe were feeble, hee put them not in: and so the feebler were Labans, and the stronger Iaakobs.

43. അവന് മഹാസമ്പന്നനായി അവന്നു വളരെ ആടുകളും ദാസീദാസന്മാരും ഒട്ടകങ്ങളും കഴുതകളും ഉണ്ടാകയും ചെയ്തു.

43. So the man increased exceedingly, and had many flockes, and maide seruantes, and men seruants, and camels and asses.
