1. രാജാവു അബ്ശാലോമിനെച്ചൊല്ലി ദുഃഖിച്ചുകരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യോവാബ് കേട്ടു.

1. And it was tolde Ioab: beholde, ye kinge wepeth & mourneth for Absalom.

2. എന്നാല് രാജാവു തന്റെ മകനെക്കുറിച്ചു വ്യസനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആ ദിവസം ജനം കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അന്നത്തേ ജയം ജനത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും ദുഃഖമായ്തീര്ന്നു.

2. And so out of ye victory of yt daye there came a mourninge amonge all the people. For the people had herde the same daye, yt the kynge toke on heuely because of his sonne.

3. ആകയാല് യുദ്ധത്തില് തോറ്റിട്ടു നാണിച്ചു ഒളിച്ചുവരുംപോലെ ജനം അന്നു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു ഒളിച്ചുകടന്നു.

3. And ye people stale awaye the same daye, so that they came not in to the cite: as a people that is put to shame, pycketh them selues awaye, whan they are fled in a battayll.

4. രാജാവു മുഖം മൂടിഎന്റെ മകനേ, അബ്ശാലോമേ, അബ്ശാലോമേ, എന്റെ മകനേ! എന്നു ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

4. As for the kynge, he had couered his face, and cryed loude, and sayde: Oh my sonne Absalom, Absalom my sonne, my sonne.

5. അപ്പോള് യോവാബ് അരമനയില് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു പറഞ്ഞതുഇന്നു നിന്റെയും നിന്റെ പുത്രീപുത്രന്മാരുടെയും നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരുടെയും വെപ്പാട്ടികളുടെയും ജീവനെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരെയും നീ ഇന്നു ലജ്ജിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്നെ പാകെക്കുന്നവരെ നീ സ്നേഹീക്കുന്നു; നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവരെ നീ പകെക്കുന്നു;

5. But Ioab came to the kynge in to the house, and sayde: This daye hast thou shamed all thy seruauntes (which haue delyuered thy soule this daye, and the soules of thy sonnes, of thy doughters, of thy wyues, and of thy cocubynes)

6. പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ഭൃത്യന്മാരും നിനക്കു ഏതുമില്ല എന്നു നീ ഇന്നു കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അബ്ശാലോം ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കയും ഞങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും ഇന്നു മരിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു എങ്കില് നിനക്കു നല്ല പ്രസാദമാകുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു എനിക്കു ഇന്നു മനസ്സിലായി.

6. in that thou louest them that hate the, and hatest those that loue ye. For to daye thou shewest thy selfe, that thou carest not for the captaynes and seruauntes: For I perceaue this daye, that yf Absalom onely were alyue, and we all deed this daye, thou woldest thynke it were well.

7. ആകയാല് ഇപ്പോള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു പുറത്തുവന്നു നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു സന്തോഷമായി സംസാരിക്ക; നീ പുറത്തു വരാത്തപക്ഷം യഹോവയാണ, ഈ രാത്രി ആരും നിന്നോടുകൂടെ താമസിക്കയില്ല; അതു നിന്റെ ബാല്യംമുതല് ഇതുവരെ നിനക്കു ഭവിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള സകല അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കാളും വലിയ അനര്ത്ഥമായ്തീരും.

7. Get the vp now therfore, and go forth, and speake louyngly vnto thy seruauntes. For I sweare vnto the by ye LORDE, yf thou go not forth, there shall not be lefte the one man this nighte: this shalbe worse vnto ye, then all the euell that happened the sence yi youth vp hither to.

8. അങ്ങനെ രാജാവു എഴുന്നേറ്റു പടിവാതില്ക്കല് ഇരുന്നു. രാജാവു പടിവാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ജനത്തിനെല്ലാം അറിവു കിട്ടി; സകലജനവും രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പില് വന്നു.

8. The the kynge gat him vp, and sat in the gate. And it was sayde vnto the people: beholde, the kynge sytteth in the gate. Then came all the people before ye kynge. But Israel was fled euery one vnto his tent.

9. യിസ്രായേല്യര് താന്താങ്ങളുടെ വീടുകളിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയിരുന്നു. എല്ലായിസ്രായേല് ഗോത്രങ്ങളിലുമുള്ള ജനം ഒക്കെയും തമ്മില് തര്ക്കിച്ചുരാജാവു നമ്മെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു രക്ഷിച്ചു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു നമ്മെ വിടുവിച്ചതും അവന് തന്നേ. ഇപ്പോഴോ അബ്ശാലോംനിമിത്തം അവന് നാടുവിട്ടു ഔടിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. And all the people stroue in all the trybes of Israel, and sayde: The kynge ryd vs from the hande of oure enemies, and delyuered vs from the hande of the Philistynes, and was fayne to fle out of the lode for Absalom.

10. നമുക്കു രാജാവായി നാം അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അബ്ശാലോമോ പടയില് പട്ടുപോയി. ആകയാല് രാജാവിനെ തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന കാര്യത്തില് നിങ്ങള് അനങ്ങാതിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. So Absalom whom we had anoynted ouer vs, is deed in the battayll. Why are ye so styll now, that ye fetch not the kynge agayne?

11. അനന്തരം ദാവീദ്രാജാവു പുരോഹിതന്മാരായ സാദോക്കിന്റെയും അബ്യാഥാരിന്റെയും അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് യെഹൂദാമൂപ്പന്മാരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുരാജാവിനെ അരമനയിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന കാര്യത്തില് നിങ്ങള് പിമ്പന്മാരായി നിലക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? രാജാവിനെ അരമനയിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന കാര്യത്തില് എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിന്റെയും സംസാരം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. The kynge sent vnto Sadoc & Abiathar the prestes, & caused to saye vnto the: Speake to the Elders of Iuda, & saye: Why wyl ye be the last to fetch the kynge agayne vnto his house? (for ye sayenge of all Israel was come before the kynge into his house)

12. നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര്; എന്റെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും അല്ലോ. രാജാവിനെ മടക്കി വരുത്തുന്ന കാര്യത്തില് നിങ്ങള് പിമ്പരായി നിലക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

12. ye are my brethren, my bone, and my flesh. Wherfore wyl ye then be the last to brynge the kynge agayne?

13. നിങ്ങള് അമാസയോടുനീ എന്റെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും അല്ലോ? നീ യോവാബിന്നു പകരം എപ്പോഴും എന്റെ മുമ്പില് സേനാപതിയായിരിക്കുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് ദൈവം തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും എന്നോടു ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു പറവിന് .

13. And saye vnto Amasa: Art not thou my bone and my flesh? God do this & that vnto me, yf thou shalt not be the chefe captayne before me in Ioabs steade, as longe as thou lyuest.

14. ഇങ്ങനെ അവന് സകല യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരുടെയും ഹൃദയം ഒന്നുപോലെ ആകര്ഷിച്ചു. ആകയാല് അവര്നീയും നിന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരും മടങ്ങിവരുവിന് എന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

14. And he bowed the hert of all the men of Iuda as of one man. And they sent vnto ye kynge: Come agayne, thou and all thy seruauntes:

15. അങ്ങനെ രാജാവു മടങ്ങി യോര്ദ്ദാങ്കല് എത്തി. രാജാവിനെ എതിരേറ്റു യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടുപോരേണ്ടതിന്നു യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാര് ഗില്ഗാലില് ചെന്നു.

15. So the kynge came agayne. And whan he came vnto Iordane, ye men of Iuda were come to Gilgal, for to go downe to mete the kynge, that they mighte brynge ye kynge ouer Iordane.

16. ബഹൂരീമിലെ ബെന്യാമീന്യനായ ഗേരയുടെ മകന് ശിമെയിയും യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ദാവീദ് രാജാവിനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു.

16. And Semei the sonne of Gera the sonne of Iemini, which dwelt at Bahurim, made haist, and wente downe with ye men of Iuda to mete kynge Dauid,

17. അവനോടുകൂടെ ആയിരം ബെന്യാമീന്യരും ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകനായ സീബയും അവന്റെ പതിനഞ്ചു പുത്രന്മാരും ഇരുപതു ഭൃത്യന്മാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര് രാജാവു കാണ്കെ യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു ചെന്നു.

17. and there were with him a thousande me of Ben Iamin. Siba also the seruaunt of the house of Saul with his fyftene sonnes and twenty seruauntes, & gat them thorow Iordane and passed ouer ye fery,

18. രാജാവിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെ ഇക്കരെ കടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നും അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നും ചങ്ങാടം അക്കരെ ചെന്നിരുന്നു. അപ്പോള് ഗേരയുടെ മകനായ ശിമെയി യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടപ്പാന് പോകുന്ന രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പില് വീണു രാജാവിനോടു

18. that they mighte brynge ouer the kynges housholde, and to do him pleasure. But Semei the sonne of Gera fell downe before the kynge, whan he passed ouer Iordane,

19. എന്റെ യജമാനന് എന്റെ കുറ്റം എനിക്കു കണക്കിടരുതേ; യജമാനനായ രാജാവു യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട ദിവസം അടിയന് ചെയ്ത ദോഷം രാജാവു മനസ്സില് വെക്കയും ഔര്ക്കയും അരുതേ.

19. and sayde vnto the kynge: O my lorde, laye not the trespace vnto my charge, & thynke not vpon it that thy seruaunt vexed the, in the daye whan my lorde the kynge wente out of Ierusalem: and let not ye kynge take it to hert,

20. അടിയന് പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിയുന്നു; അതു കൊണ്ടു ഇതാ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ എതിരേല്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി വരുവാന് യോസേഫിന്റെ സകലഗൃഹത്തിലുംവെച്ചു അടിയന് ഇന്നു മുമ്പനായി വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. for thy seruaunt knoweth that he hath synned. And beholde, this daye am I come the first amonge all the house of Ioseph, for to go downe to mete my lorde the kynge.

21. എന്നാറെ സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ അബീശായിയഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനെ ശപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ശിമെയി അതുനിമിത്തം മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

21. Neuertheles Abisai the sonne of Zeru Ia answered and sayde: And shulde not Semei dye therfore, seynge he hath cursed ye anoynted of ye LORDE?

22. അതിന്നു ദാവീദ്സെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, ഇന്നു നിങ്ങള് എനിക്കു എതിരികളാകേണ്ടതിന്നു എനിക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും തമ്മില് എന്തു? ഇന്നു യിസ്രായേലില് ഒരുത്തനെ കൊല്ലാമോ? ഇന്നു ഞാന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവെന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. But Dauid sayde: What haue I to do with you ye children of ZeruIa, that ye wyll become Sathan vnto me this daye? Shulde eny man dye this daye in Israel? Thynkest thou that I knowe not, yt I am become kynge ouer Israel this daye?

23. പിന്നെ ശിമെയിയോടുനീ മരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, രാജാവു അവനോടു സത്യവും ചെയ്തു.

23. And ye kynge sayde vnto Simei: Thou shalt not dye? And the kynge sware vnto him.

24. ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ മെഫീബോശെത്തും രാജാവിനെ എതിരേല്പാന് വന്നു; രാജാവു പോയ ദിവസം മുതല് സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവന്ന ദിവസംവരെ അവന് തന്റെ കാലിന്നു രക്ഷചെയ്കയോ താടി ഒതുക്കുകയോ വസ്ത്രം അലക്കിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിരുന്നില്ല.

24. Mephiboseth the sonne of Saul came downe also to mete the kynge. And he had not made cleane his fete ner combde his beerde, nether had he wasshed his clothes from the daye that the kynge was gone awaye, vntyll the daye that he came agayne in peace.

25. എന്നാല് അവന് രാജാവിനെ എതിരേല്പാന് യെരൂശലേമില് നിന്നു വന്നപ്പോള് രാജാവു അവനോടുമെഫീബോശെത്തേ, നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ വരാതെയിരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

25. Now wha he came to Ierusalem for to mete the kynge, the kynge sayde vnto him: Mephiboseth, wherfore wentest thou not with me?

26. അതിന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുയജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, എന്റെ ഭൃത്യന് എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു; കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി, രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു കോപ്പിടേണമെന്നു അടിയന് പറഞ്ഞു; അടിയന് മുടന്തനല്ലോ.

26. And he sayde: My lorde O kynge, my seruaut hath dealte vnrighteously with me: for thy seruaunt thoughte: I wyl saddell an asse and ryde theron, and go vnto the kynge: for thy seruaunt is lame,

27. അവന് യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടു അടിയനെക്കൊണ്ടു നുണയും പറഞ്ഞു; എങ്കിലും യജമാനനായ രാജാവു ദൈവദൂതന്നു തുല്യന് ആകുന്നു; തിരുമനസ്സിലെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്തുകൊള്ക.

27. and he hath accused thy seruaunt before my lorde ye kynge. But my lorde ye kynge is an angell of God, and thou mayest do what pleaseth the.

28. യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ അടിയന്റെ പിതൃഭവനമൊക്കെയും മരണയോഗ്യര് ആയിരുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അടിയനെ അവിടത്തെ മേശയിങ്കല് ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ആക്കി; രാജാവിനോടു ആവലാധി പറവാന് അടിയന്നു ഇനി എന്തു അവകാശമുള്ളു?

28. For all my fathers house was nothinge, but people of death before my lorde ye kynge. And yet hast thou set thy seruaunt amonge them that eate at yi table. What other righteousnes haue I, that I shulde crye eny more vnto the kynge?

29. രാജാവു അവനോടുനീ നിന്റെ കാര്യം ഇനി അധികം പറയുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? നീയും സീബയും നിലം പകുത്തെടുത്തുകൊള്വിന് എന്നു ഞാന് കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. The kynge sayde vnto him: What speakest thou yet more of thy matter? I haue sayde: Thou and Siba parte the londe betwene you.

30. മെഫീബോശെത്ത് രാജാവിനോടുഅല്ല, അവന് തന്നേ മുഴുവനും എടുത്തുകൊള്ളട്ടെ; യജമാനനായ രാജാവു സമാധാനത്തോടെ അരമനയില് എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. Mephiboseth sayde vnto the kynge: Let him take it all, in as moch as my lorde ye kynge is come home in peace.

31. ഗിലെയാദ്യനായ ബര്സില്ലായിയും രോഗെലീമില്നിന്നു വന്നു, രാജാവിനെ യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ കടത്തി യാത്ര അയപ്പാന് അവനോടുകൂടെ യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു.

31. And Barsillai the Gileadite came downe from Roglim, and broughte the kynge ouer Iordane, that he mighte coueye him in Iordane.

32. ബര്സില്ലായിയോ എണ്പതു വയസ്സുള്ളോരു വയോധികനായിരുന്നു; രാജാവു മഹനയീമില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന കാലത്തു അവന് ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങള് അയച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; അവന് മഹാധനികന് ആയിരുന്നു.

32. And Barsillai was very olde, so good as foure score yeare olde, the same had prouyded ye kynge of fode whyle he was at Mahanaim, for he was a very noble man.

33. രാജാവു ബര്സില്ലായിയോടുഎന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരിക; ഞാന് നിന്നെ യെരൂശലേമില് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് പാര്പ്പിച്ചു രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. And the kynge sayde vnto Barsillai: Thou shalt go ouer with me, I wyll take care for the wt myne awne selfe at Ierusalem.

34. ബര്സില്ലായി രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ഞാന് രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമില് വരുന്നതെന്തിന്നു? ഞാന് ഇനി എത്ര നാള് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും?

34. But Barsillai sayde vnto the kynge: What haue I yet to lyue, that I shulde go vp to Ierusalem wt the kynge?

35. എനിക്കു ഇന്നു എണ്പതു വയസ്സായിരിക്കുന്നു; നല്ലതും ആകാത്തതും എനിക്കു തിരിച്ചറിയാമോ? ഭക്ഷണപാനങ്ങളുടെ സ്വാദു അടിയന്നു അറിയാമോ? സംഗീതക്കാരുടെയും സംഗീതക്കാരത്തികളുടെയും സ്വരം എനിക്കു ഇനി കേട്ടു രസിക്കാമോ? അടിയന് യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്നു ഭാരമായ്തീരുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?

35. This daye am I foure score yeare olde. How shulde I knowe what is good or euell, or taist what I eate or drynke, or heare what the Musicians do synge? Why shulde thy seruaunt be chargeable first vnto my lorde the kynge?

36. അടിയന് രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടപ്പാനേ വിചാരിച്ചുള്ളൂ; രാജാവു ഇതിന്നായി എനിക്കു ഈ വിധം പ്രത്യുപകാരം ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തിനു?

36. thy seruaunt shall go a litle with the kynge ouer Iordane. Why wil the kynge recompence me after this maner?

37. എന്റെ പട്ടണത്തില് എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെയും അമ്മയുടെയും കല്ലറയുടെ അടുക്കല്വെച്ചു മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അടിയന് വിടകൊള്ളട്ടെ; എന്നാല് നിന്റെ ദാസനായ കിംഹാം ഇതാ; അവന് യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ പോരട്ടെ; നിനക്കു പ്രസാദമായതു അവന്നു ചെയ്തു കൊടുത്താലും.

37. Let thy seruaunt turne backe agayne, that I maye dye in my cite besyde my father and my mothers graue. Beholde, there is thy seruaunt Chimeam, let him go ouer with my lorde the kynge, and do vnto him what pleaseth the.

38. അതിന്നു രാജാവുകിംഹാം എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരട്ടെ; നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടപ്രകാരം ഞാന് അവന്നു ചെയ്തുകൊടുക്കാം; നീ എന്നോടു ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് നിനക്കായി ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. The kynge sayde: Chimeam shal go ouer with me, and I wyll do for him what liketh the: and what so euer thou desyrest of me, that wyll I do for the also.

39. പിന്നെ സകലജനവും യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു. രാജാവു യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നശേഷം ബര്സില്ലായിയെ ചുംബനംചെയ്തു അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവന് സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

39. And whan all ye people was gone ouer Iordane and the kynge likewyse, the kynge kyssed Barsillai and blessed him, and he turned vnto his place.

40. രാജാവു ഗില്ഗാലില് ചെന്നു; കീംഹാമും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി; യെഹൂദാജനമൊക്കെയും യിസ്രായേല്ജനം പാതിയും കൂടി രാജാവിനെ ഇക്കരെകൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

40. And ye kynge passed ouer vnto Gilgal, and Chimeam wente with him. And all the people of Iuda broughte the kynge ouer, howbeit there was but halfe of the people of Israel there.

41. അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്പുരുഷന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു രാജാവിനോടുഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരായ യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാര് രാജാവിനെയും അവന്റെ കുടുംബത്തെയും ദാവീദിന്റെ സകലപരിചാരകന്മാരെയും മോഷ്ടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടത്തിയതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

41. And beholde, the came all the men of Israel vnto the kynge, & sayde vnto him: Why haue oure brethren the men of Iuda stollen the awaye, and haue conueyed ye kynge and his housholde ouer Iordane, and all Dauids men with him?

42. അതിന്നു യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും യിസ്രായേല് പുരുഷന്മാരോടുരാജാവു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അടുത്ത ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരന് ആകകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ; അതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് കോപിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? ഞങ്ങള് രാജാവിന്റെ വക വല്ലതും തിന്നുവോ? അവന് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വല്ല സമ്മാനവും തന്നുവോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

42. Then answered they of Iuda vnto them of Israel: The kynge is of oure nye kynred, why are ye angrie therfore? Thynke ye that we haue receaued eny fode or giftes of the kynge?

43. യിസ്രായേല്പുരുഷന്മാര് യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോടുരാജാവിങ്കല് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു പത്തു ഔഹരി ഉണ്ടു; ദാവീദിങ്കല് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു നിങ്ങളെക്കാള് അധികം അവകാശവും ഉണ്ടു; നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളെ ധിക്കരിച്ചതു എന്തു? ഞങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവിനെ തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളല്ലയോ അദ്യം പറഞ്ഞതു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരുടെ വാക്കു യിസ്രായേല് പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ വാക്കിനെക്കാള് അധികം കഠിനമായിരുന്നു.

43. Then answered they of Israel vnto them of Iuda, & sayde: We haue ten tymes more with the kynge and with Dauid, the thou, why hast thou regarded me then so lightly, that oures were not the first to fetch oure kynge agayne? But they of Iuda spake harder then they of Israel.
